Man, the first Captain Disillusion video I ever saw was his debunking video of the pantry ghost video that was popular back in the mid 2000's. I was a child, man.
I'm no VFX artist, I'm an IT tech. I just have a deep appreciation for the vfx art realm, and actually educational while entertaining content. I've been watching Captain D since the beginning. I love that he had Amazing Randy on the show, because to me it's the same thing just different realms. I love the corridor crew for similar reasons. just a lot of fun and insight into things.
captain d really changed the course of my life. now im going to film school and just excited to become a VFX artist and filmmaker, all because i found his channel way back in 2014. so glad to finally see him on vfx artists react
When Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon came out, my mother watched it with me. Half way through it she turned to me and said, "These are the best acrobats in the world! I can 't believe they can do these stunts!". I explained after and she was so disappointed.
It seems like Alan has a calming effect on you... Well, he's a chill guy, at least way more than the real Captain Disillusion. ;) I wasn't expecting this collab, and it was very cool to witness!
In the next episode of "stuntmen react" you should take a look at the amazing stunts of late Jean Paul Belmondo in favour of his memory. He was quite famous for being one of the first, if not the first actor to perform almost all of his stunts and many of them are really impressive (almost to the point of being ridiculous by today's standards), so I really wish you would react to some of them. Especially since not that many people seem to be aware of his work nowadays outside of France.
I don't watch these until my lunch on Monday, but let me tell you how extra excited I am that The Captain is here! (Or at least his chump assistant Alan. He's busy I guess)
We need Ryan and Josh on the show!!!! (film riot - I'm sure everyone knows...) They are the OGs who have helped millions get into VFX (me included). Do ittttt.
I'm glad you were able to collaborate with Alan! (To be honest, The Captain's attitude isn't quite as pleasant as Alan's) He's such a terrific artist, and has a deep appreciation for many of the same films as I do.
Maximum respect to captain dissolution. May I just say the flight of the navigator VFX is outstanding and meant alot to me personally. Hats off to you sir. 🎩🙏
Fun fact about what they said about the gun in the doom clip being filmed separately, is that in First Person Shooter games the gun is also being rendered independently by a different camera put on top of the rest. That way if you clip the weapon through something, by being to close to a wall for example, the model will always appear in its entirety instead of half of it being behind a wall. (probably very well known fact but thought it was an interesting coincidence)
@@rickardelimaa Yes for some scenes, the ones with the chips, and the ones with the green smoke message. Otherwise they did a great job of compositing and editing with the clones and the sets.
When Eternals drops on Disney Plus on Jan 12, you guys should totally do a VFX artists react video! One of the most exemplary uses of CGI in recent years and was so visually stunning!!
Thank you so much for this epic video! Corridor Crew and Captain Disillusion are by far my two favorite UA-cam channels, and having both of you together was such a treat! This is officially my favorite VFX Artists React video now! Keep up the great work!
Fuck, seeing a flash of James Randy on that Captain Disillusion clip, I went to check how he's doing and apparently, the grandad of what Captain and the Corridor Crew do in reacting to videos has died just over a year ago. Granted, he lived to a ripe old age of 92. He'll be missed and should never be forgotten.
The "Amazing Randi" was the OG Debunker of bullshit artist and almost all but forgotten if CD hadn't featured him in a video for the young generation. I seen him when I was a kid make people look like clowns on national TV and have never forgotten the lesson he taught.
@@jimmydean8007 I also saw him as a kid but did see more of him in the 90's and 00's as many skeptics and atheism upstarts on UA-cam and other platforms included his mindset and himself in their videos and thinking. Penn and Teller were also good friends with Randy and they had practically the same mindset in terms of magicianship too. And they also did programs exposing bullshit and charlatans. People should know, Randy had a prize challenge to psychics and other paranormal claimants that started in 1964 and ended with his retirement in 2015 for starting at $10K and growing to $1M in the 00's. The prize was never successfully claimed while all these people needed to do was demonstrate their powers and abilities on camera without Randy or people like Penn and Teller being able to replicate or debunk them where they stood.
I'd love to see Alan return. I've never seen his stuff, but now that I've been introduced I think I will. It'd be great to see you guys come together again in the future.
Speaking of Back to the Future, I'd love to see you guys react to the visual effects of another classic science-fiction film from 1985, Terry Gilliam's Brazil. There are some really impressive and beautiful shots in it that I'd love to see you discuss.
I could easily watch 2 hours of this. So chill, so awesome. Alan is so shy :D and takes Nikos compliments so ankwardly Seeing these three legendary creators on one gauč (I dont know the english spelling) is UA-cam at its best Thanks guys
Finally, the crossover we've all been waiting for! I was afraid Captain D would never appear on this show after his own episode where he made fun of Corridor for having "exaggerated reactions" (briefly showing a clip of Clint freaking out) lol. Glad it was just a little joke and not him seriously disliking the Corridor guys, since I am a fan of both their content ;)
It almost seems weird having on as himself and not the captain, you forget how much of just a chill laid back dude he is when he's not hamming it up as the Captain.
You guys need to react to Arcanes in your next "Animators react". Been waiting to have your opinions (and hopefully Sir Koenig's too) on this show. As always love your work guys.
My two favorite VFX channels. Found you guys because of clock blockers, and found Alan because of debunking. It's great to see you both in one place. I still want Clock blockers to be made into a game.
It never really occurred to me how insane it was to stand in front of the DeLorean as it was accelerating like that. If it didn't jump successfully they would have both died XD
It's very self-destructive right up to that point, the Doc has made a lot of failed inventions, and quite a few things have blown up in Marty's face. Then he makes some illegal dealings with the Libyans, to finally make the one masterpiece that actually works, or kill him and his teen friend before the authorities or terrorists can catch up with him.
Speaking of 80s effects, I'd still love to see the Crew look at 2010: The Year We Make Contact, which had some surprisingly good early CGI and also excellent practical work. (Or if Captain Disillusion wanted to tackle it, that would be awesome too. ;->)

@@treibsandbohrer they did multiple episodes with Seth Rogen, Nick's dad, recently did multiple with Freddie, multiple with Scott Adkins, they usually shoot a few at a time with Gui and Eric Linden. So yes, it is true. Not every guest, but *usually*
@@ipraytovodka I'd say it's usual. Not every time, but typically. They almost always shoot multiple episodes at the same time with Gui and Eric, they did multiple episodes with Seth Rogen, Freddie, Nick's dad, Scott Adkins, etc. As the series has gone on, guests are usually for more than one episode. The first guests, not so much, but lately, it's pretty usual.
I realize that a lot of people are going to be introduced to the magically wonderful creations of Captain D. Have fun guys on his channel. Grab some popcorn while you're at it.
After 84 years! We finally have the myth, the legend on the show!!!!! WHOOOOO
And all it took was a world war
This is great! I love seeing both of these creators analyzing VFX together!
I'm super glad CD is big now. I remember subbing to him back in 2007. Dude deserves it
That was fun! Legends!
It's about time the Captain was brought in!
Hope are they gonna invite you soon Jake!
I just want to let you know, I couldn't stop smiling the entire time. So, so, soooo happy to see the captain with you all! Mad love and respect all around. Thanks for sharing, and take care!
Finally Alan gets the recognition he deserves!
Duuuude those wire shots in the wheat field I just stumbled across it earlier today and was like woah
captain d really changed the course of my life. now im going to film school and just excited to become a VFX artist and filmmaker, all because i found his channel way back in 2014. so glad to finally see him on vfx artists react
Well, he's a chill guy, at least way more than the real Captain Disillusion. ;)
I wasn't expecting this collab, and it was very cool to witness!
I've been waiting for this since you mentioned it in episode 20 and I'm ready for the greatest collaboration of all time.
Same
This crossover was Corridor Crew's destiny.
*their density
Captain Disillusion is one of the best vfx debunks I've watched tbh including corridor crew
The guns in 1st person being a separate element from the scene is very smart to emulate feel of games.
Y’all better recognize the amount of respect Captain Disillusion deserves. 👏🏽👏🏽
we need way more of this. Captain Disillusion is one of the greatest and most underrated content creators in youtube history.
😂
21:19 the captain's proud smile is priceless
We need Ryan and Josh on the show!!!! (film riot - I'm sure everyone knows...) They are the OGs who have helped millions get into VFX (me included). Do ittttt.
These guys are what got me into film in the first place. Thank you so much for the content you put out!
I'm so glad to see the Captain getting some exposure... been following him since his channel was still small... 🤘
I'm glad you were able to collaborate with Alan!
(To be honest, The Captain's attitude isn't quite as pleasant as Alan's)
He's such a terrific artist, and has a deep appreciation for many of the same films as I do.
I would love if you react to "The ctity of lost children" It's a french movie with very good effects and amazing sets for the time (1995) !
Did they even use CGI? If I remember correctly, it looked like practical effects.
@Cantika------💘 This is the Dwayne Johnson CGI scorpion of spam comments.
Damn sounds cool
I love that movie
I am so jealous of the adventure you are about it have discovering his stuff for the first time
15:03 when he says "even the corridor crew". Look how the guy on the right is totally offended and shifts away from CD lol
Alan is so shy :D and takes Nikos compliments so ankwardly
Seeing these three legendary creators on one gauč (I dont know the english spelling) is UA-cam at its best
Thanks guys
Couch?
Can never get enough Capt. D! Thanks for bringing him on!
Me: The whole set is greenscreened, some cg, the tv is superimposed
Sam: There's a hole in the wall
Me: Right, yeah, I knew that
2:28 Ghustbusters afterlife brought back the hand drawn lightning and effects :)
After looking at Doom, it reminded me of another POV movie called Hardcore Henry which is almost entirely POV action, It'd be cool to check that out
Finally, the crossover we've all been waiting for! I was afraid Captain D would never appear on this show after his own episode where he made fun of Corridor for having "exaggerated reactions" (briefly showing a clip of Clint freaking out) lol. Glad it was just a little joke and not him seriously disliking the Corridor guys, since I am a fan of both their content ;)
yeah and they even adressed it I thought it would be much more akward (even it still was pretty akward compared to normal episodes)
I love that they used Alan's react face in the thumbnail for real 😂 Way to troll him back 👍
I’m really happy to see this I hope a whole new group of people find CD’s videos because of this upload
at 12:07 when you can see the hand bones cuz of the explosion, it looks like the character has webbed hands for a split second
It almost seems weird having on as himself and not the captain, you forget how much of just a chill laid back dude he is when he's not hamming it up as the Captain.
What do you mean? That was his intern Alan, the Captain obviously wasn't available.
@@fgfh10004 Thanks Holly.
At 8:47 when he drops the bluetooth hose the way it falls in a curve to the ground you can tell its just the back of the hose is painted out.
Already need a part two with the captain
You guys need to react to Arcanes in your next "Animators react". Been waiting to have your opinions (and hopefully Sir Koenig's too) on this show.
As always love your work guys.
I was about to suggest that as well. It's gorgeous and very interesting. And also 👍️👍️👍️ on everything you guys do.
My two favorite VFX channels.
Found you guys because of clock blockers, and found Alan because of debunking. It's great to see you both in one place.
I still want Clock blockers to be made into a game.
This collaborations are getting better and better ❤️
It never really occurred to me how insane it was to stand in front of the DeLorean as it was accelerating like that. If it didn't jump successfully they would have both died XD
Yeah, I'm not sure this would be such a amazing movie then. Just two guys killed by RC DeLorean lol
@@ziomkris1 it would be a lot cheaper at least
It's very self-destructive right up to that point, the Doc has made a lot of failed inventions, and quite a few things have blown up in Marty's face. Then he makes some illegal dealings with the Libyans, to finally make the one masterpiece that actually works, or kill him and his teen friend before the authorities or terrorists can catch up with him.
Yeah I thought it was reckless.
Captain D (and i guess Alan) is the spark that ignited my love for VFX and is the reason I question everyting - Thank you CC !
Speaking of 80s effects, I'd still love to see the Crew look at 2010: The Year We Make Contact, which had some surprisingly good early CGI and also excellent practical work.
(Or if Captain Disillusion wanted to tackle it, that would be awesome too. ;->)
Underrated film.
