Whats your thoughts on the idea that not many 10mm cartridges out in the wild are worthy of the name 10mm? I've heard some people saying stuff like Buffalo Bore 10mm which averages 1600 FPS is where you're really getting your moneys worth, and just about every other 10mm, you may as well be shooting 9mm. Note: this is not my own personal take, I'm just trying to see what you think.

Some rounds are more reliable than others. The 10mm seems to have problems in all platforms , even Glocks sometimes, with "heavy-hot" loads. i.e. 200/220 grain UW, or BB
You 10mm guys need to get with the times, and use the lighter solid cooper rounds. I'm sorry the entire firearms industry has been wrong for over a century.
The advantages to lighters bullets are literally countless.
My 45 shoots 111gr. That's lighter than the 9mm rounds in your block 19. And at less than half the weight of grandpa's 1911 It also makes double the energy. (700lbs)
The heaviest 10mm I would run would be 140 grain penetrators, and 115/100 grain defenders are just find if you believe in over penetration myths.
Get with the times boomers, the lighter rounds not only offer weight and recoil advantages to manipulate the weapon system, but the ballistics are sometimes even better. The lighter rounds also make the wear on the systems less, and control of follow up shots is much better. Most importantly the weapon will be inherently more reliable.
There's Levels to this.

I am not even interested in guns so much. But you are a type of charather that i could listen even for days on whatever topic.
A little thread lock on those loosening screws might be applicable. For bear protection you don't want hollow points as over penetration will not be an issue.
He SAID it needed Loctite.
look at "ROCKSET" . Permanent until you soak it in hot water for a time
I like the way the 510 maxes out the microphone.
The sight doesnt come loose.
The guard comes loose.
And will continue to come loose until you loctite it, however if it fell off your sight remains intact.
That's interesting. When I shoot my Glock 22 with the 22 round Glock factory mags, I had a failure to feed malfunction. When I switched to the Glock 15 rounds factory mags, it worked just fine. Maybe Glock and FN just don't like the 22 rounds magazines.

I run a 510 mrd & tactical, over the last few months im over 2k rounds in and havent experienced any malfunctions in either of them. Mags work great, only cleaned lubed them plus threadlocker on the sight plate / red dot hardware. Although i have always perfered the 1911 platform, the 510 has become one of my favorites. What one gets for the price is completely worth it. Especially worth noting, try the 60 gr rounds from civil defense, pretty neat experience having rounds noving at around 2400 fps.

There are too many 10mm manufacturers that download their ammunition. Buffalo Bore is my choice! The rest are judged by their standard.
Whenever I see a new Hickok45 video I immediately click in and give it a like, even if I don't have time to watch it at the moment.

How many rounds have you put through it before it malfunctioned maybe it's a break in thing looks like it's eating up all the ammo your feeding it. Love underwood 10mm buffalo bore is really good as well they are not cheap but you get what you pay for with them two ammo company's.

Mr. Hickock I had the same problem with the 22 rd mag 3 malfunctions...my 15 rd mag ran flawless...I didn't clean it the first time out...I cleaned it after range will test again tomorrow at range

Hot tip for ya. Idk if someone has mentioned it before but it is highly advised to not shoot hand loads(mainly reloads) out of a FN 510. There are some big tolerances that bulge the brass like crazy which can cause problems with reloads. Suddenly the brass might be too big to eject properly or worse case, brass will fail and give you a neat scar on your hand. I haven’t heard of that actually happening yet but always play it safe. I’m no expert, just relaying some info I found. Even direct from FN, they say to not use reloads. Thanks for the great videos

sometimes i forget 10mms exist. it just resurges into my head like a lost memory from my childhood when i see one in my FYP
I feel like 10mm is a calibre that is made for a purpose like hunting or bears/moose so even though it is there and people know about it it isn't talked about a whole lot. It seems like with pistol calibres everything is 9mm or nothing now days or 38/357 for revolvers.
for me 10mm pistols are a video game pistols. many cyberpunk and post apo games have it

When I was a kid and played Fallout New Vegas, 10mm is in the game and i thought for a long time 10mm was just made up for the game but didn’t exist in the real world.

@@blonded3598 The FNX is just amazing! I would say they are similar both being full size but I just love my FNX45! It does seem a lil smoother and easier to shoot compared to my 545.

I had enough malfunctions with the M&Ps I had I just ended up losing interest in them (except one I kept) I just sold them after a while..
I kept my 4.6 inch and sold my 4 inch to get this. Haven’t shot it yet, but I hope I love it. I just need to work the grit out on the trigger.
Those FTFs really stick in your head, especially if it’s a carry gun.
@@joshmatlock3410 yeah and I found m&p shield didn’t like the extended baseplate. Constant issues after that. My 4” was miserable, sent back to the factory once and after that I lost interest and sold it. I do have an FDE 5” that’s one of my favorite.

How does the FN510 perform with hardcast 220 gr? I've got my eye on the Buffalo Bore Heavy Outdoorsman, but wasn't sure if 220 gr (compared to 200 gr) was counter productive in terms of reliability? Also what are you thoughts on rounds designed to have lower flash for low light situations. Thanks sir.

While the extended mags are cool, I would never carry them. Not just due to size, the mag spring gets considerably weaker the less rounds you have in the mag. Add a weak mag spring to a 10mm and there’s bound to be issues. Especially full power 10mm loads and how fast that slide reciprocates. 15 round flush fit mags just seem like a safer option if your carrying for protection. Were the malfunctions with some of the later rounds in the mag?
