Had to get a 10mm six months ago cause I got three black bears near where I live. Came down to the M&P and 510. I broke for the 510 even though it was 300 bucks more, I got mine for $950, simply because I can put on my Rugged Obsidian 45 on no mod needed. Couldn’t be happier. Best? Don’t know, different folks will say different things but for me, the 510 is practically the only 10mm I’ll ever get!
Clint: I'd love to see you compare this to the Springfield Armory XDM-Elite in 10mm

I own one Glock, a 4th Gen 20, & have had only slide back malfunctions right after I bought it due to a weak slide catch spring. After rebending it there have been no other malfunctions in 2000 rounds. But I also changed the barrel soon after I purchased it to a threaded KKM barrel for better chamber support and to shoot lead bullets. I also changed the connector & polished the trigger parts for a 3.5 lb
trigger pull. Talon grips for the slippery grip. This is 1 very reliable pistol. Just wish there was an ammo manufacturer that would load range ammo to full 10 mm specs instead of 40 S&W. I've only shot a few rounds of Buffalo Bore hard cast through it, and WOW, what a difference in power!
Underwood High Performance 10mm ammo puts out maximum power. 180grain or 200grain you can’t go wrong you will not get 40SW performance out of those.
Grizzly, underwood, sig, Buffalo bore, and Fort Scott tui are all full power

I'd like to see a compare with the Springfield XDM elite 10 MM & the Sig P320 XTen
I have the 545 and large hands and went with the smaller backstrap on it because it feels more comfortable and a lot more like the fnx which I found very comfortable. Overall love the feel and overall package. I got a newer 509 too and the trigger feels really similar to it. Just seems to get better with time too.

I have the 545 and absolutely love it, FN did a great job with that pistol and seemingly with the 510 too. Also, the malfunction you got appears to be similar to what I get from my S&W 10mm when using certain full power factory loads. Currently in the process of testing out different recoil spring tensions to see if that takes care of the issue. My idea is that since 10mm is starting to make a comeback, the ammo comes in such a wide variety of flavors (from 40 cal +5% to oppenheimer) there isn't a common setup that can accommodate a wide range of ammunition out there...at least that's my rationale for the moment which is probably wrong, maybe someone can provide more insight in the comments!
Would definitely like a 510 vs FNX comparison. There’s a sliver of hope that FN will offer one day the FNX in 10mm..
barrel conversion
I went to my gun store tonight after my research and watching this video and narrowed it down to the Sig XTen Endure and the FN510 tactical. After handling them both, I had to go with the FN510 tactical. I do like Sig, but the FN felt like a crisper trigger, grips were similar to a novice like me, love the extended clip, both I think are great choices for a 10mm. Thanks for ALL the great content! Much appreciated.
I had the same dilemma with the 510 and the Sig X-10 Comp. I too choose the FN, but I will probably get the Sig too. The Comp is slightly smaller in the grip and the comp knocks the snap out of the recoil, so why not both?

I'm loving my FN510 so far. Added a TRL-1 HL and my HR509-TRD X2 will be here tomorrow to finish it up. Now to find a lvl 2 holster.
Odin Holsters makes one. Dara makes one too for the TLR1 I believe. Sadly Dara doesn’t make one for the 510 w/x300 for some reason but the Nordic blood in me wants the Odin Holster with Valknut on the side anyway lol.

I only wish they'd make it into a foldable pistol caliber carbine exactly like the m&p fpc
Springfield XD-M elite is the best hand gun 10mm in my opinion from recoil to just reliability and coast also I love the new sig XTEN Comp version for easy concealment and great recoil
To compare the FN 510 to other comparable 10mm pistols, I would eliminate any 1911 style pistols, and only compare polymer framed style pistols. The list below pretty much rounds out pistols meeting those requirements. I think they all offer a version with with optics ready, and threaded barrel, including the Hi-Point (maybe not the Glocks).

I liked this gun so much just by dry firing it for a few days, that I went to my local gun store yesterday and ordered an FN 545 Tactical. I just love the way this gun fits in my hand. I figured that the 545 Tactical would feel exactly the same.
Definitely do a detailed comparison video between the FN 510 and the Sig P320 Xten and/or P320 Xten Comp.
Looks like a nice pistol. I recently bought the Sig X-Ten and this looks very similar. I’d like to see them compared. I can say the factory trigger is really good.
I have both and cool thing is Kydex holster works for both.

Different ammunition for people as opposed to Bear. I've been carrying a S&W1006 10MM for 33 years. Very versatile.
They do feel nice. But like most FNs I pickup...They never quite feel as nice as the price tag would suggest. With this release, I was honestly a bit more into the 545. I'd imagine the 510 barrel would also work in the 545, but not the other way around like alot of guns. Anywho. Cheers!

You're on drugs! You get a very nice bag, all the plates and taking many pistols apart cut slide, match barrel, it's easily MORE pistol then just $150-$200 over a Block
I got the black FN 510 and added a Trijicon SRO and Osprey 45. I run .40 180 gr (985fps) though it all the time with no issues.

Looks like a great pistol!! I love the 10mm!! I've got 2 1911's, one Rock Island and one Ruger 10mm. I would love to have a higher capacity though. I was thinking about a Glock 20 or 40, probably the 40 because of the RMR cut but that one is a contender now!! Do a comparison of the Glock 40 and anything else that has a RMR cut!
I have the FN 510, it’s a great pistol. I was thinking about the Glock G20 10mm, but I would end up, replacing the trigger, milling the slide, new sights, an probably buying a barrel for it, the 510 FN has all that from the factory. I paid $850 plus tax’s for the FN, less money than the g20 and all the work. I’m very pleased with the FN 510

Yes yes yes, polymer80 10mm, S&W 10mm 2.0, SIG X-Ten, and a great middle of the road double stack 1911 style 10mm !!!!
To start off with, I love the 10mm. Best wound cavity of all times IMO. I worked over 15 years in a gun store/gunsmith shop. With that we did a lot of LE work. About 1/2 a mile from us was an FBI office. So in turn we had a bunch in there. I always picked their brains on different questions. Trust me. They all do not have the same answer to each question. On this topic two of them had just about the same words about the 10mm. They loved it. Problem they had from what these two told me. When they shot someone. Momma could not recognize them in the casket. Meaning the round really tore them up and did its job real well. That is why the FBI stopped carrying it. From what I am told. Also, if they were of smaller frame or female and could not handle it. They could still keep and carry a 9mm or 45ACP. My girlfriend is of small frame and the reason I have two 10mm in 1911 is she loved the first one I bought and would not give it back. Saying. Just go buy another one for you and thank you for this one.

Normally when I buy a FN pistol, I take it apart to polish all of the internal parts and clean up the grit. Haven't changed a thing about my 510, and don't plan to.
10mm is the round of gigachads, i'm so glad more manufacturers are adopting it

I have the 510 & love shooting.
The 22 round mag for me is cool, although i do have issues with ammo feed - i oil the inside of the mag, as something hangs-up and won't feed the chamber.
I assume that's what just happened to you...

I'm a bit of an FaNatic, with my FNS 9C, 509 Tactical and Reflex, so if I go 10mm, this is probably the route I'm taking. That being said, I would like to see it up against the SIG and the S&W

I bought one as a woods gun. It's fun to shoot, but not so fun to buy ammo for.
Paid 900 for mine. Worth every penny. I use it as my go to woods gun. Can't beat it.

I love my 510 I wish they made a flat faced trigger shoe for it though.ive got nerve damage on my trigger hand and sometimes my pull sends it wrong
What ammo were you using? Was it armscorp or true 10mm ammo at least 1200 fps...just curious
What holster works best with this AND the red dot?
Heard a few others say it too but the ergonomics feel of to me. Nice pistol but just something about it I can’t explain.

M&p > fn. the m2.0 in 10mm regular full size not competition model. Amazing. And looks a lot better than the fn in my opinion.

Nice looking tool for sure, I don't have a 10mm and don't want to have a new caliber to stock up ammo.
First time shooting it with gloves. First time it malfunctioned . Probably because of the gloves.

I was wanting the new sig x10 comp, but this one keeps popping up during my research. I gotta look into the 510 alittle more. I've owned all three of the glock 10mm's and the 4 inch m&p 10mm. I really like the m&p. I sold mine, and was gonna get the long slide m&p 10mm until the x10 comp caught my eye. I love my xmacros so the x10 comp was a no-brainer. Well until I kept seeing the great reviews on this fn510.
So what safariland holster fits this gun?

The problem I have run into with the ambi mag release is that I sometimes hit it against the console and drop the mag.
Apex makes a single sided mag release for the 510. I’m definitely going to pick one up eventually.
I think I speak for most of us when I say, all, you need to do all the 10mm's in comparison at the same time.... Like, this is right up your alley... Do a top five with a 1911 10mm on the list as well, so we know which is the best and why...
10mm is 45acp with a bbl...how is the bore height? The P220 I found was snappy since it was so high.

I carry my glock 29 10 mil even though it's too small for my hands but I love 10 mill . Im in the market for a full size 10 mL but that price is crazy I would definitely get the non-threaded barrel version in the 700s

I have the FN and SW.
Get the FN, and if carrying, the 510 MRD. The SW is great, but it has a FTF issue that’s VERY hit or miss. So much so that within 1 range session with the FN I started carrying it. It is also much softer shooting with the high powered Underwood ammo, and better barrel.

out of all the 10mm's out now I think if your interested in one you should get the one that feels best to shoot in YOUR hands.
That price is absurd. Zastava is able to produce a 20” barreled 308 AK, export it to the US, do conversion work, add US made parts, and sell it for a profit at around $1200-$1300.
This is an all steel gun that requires stamped sheet metal work, riveting, hammer forged components, hammer forging and chrome lining a huge 20” barrel…
Apples to oranges sure. But a little handgun, with a polymer molded frame, has no business being sold for nearly the same price.
That's 100% right. It's nice. Not that nice however. If people like it & want to spend that much on a polymer by all means. The only polymers I'm even remotely comfortable spending that type of money on are HK's & that's only because there great reputation speaks for itself & needs no introductions.
