When I saw the Megaman 11 trailer, I was so overjoyed I cried like an anime fan on prom night
Anime belongs in the trash
you belong in the trash
only good anime is the persona 5 and 4 animations
The art style reminds me of the concept art for Mighty No. 9. I think Capcom are telling Keiji to go fuck himself.
Dance with your imaginary waifu aka roll
Mighty No 9 might have had a chance, had Inafune and his team focused all their efforts on making a good game, not a media empire.
Even more so when they chose Kickstarter to fund their development of their new project. Crowdfunding had a plenty of benefits and yet, they had a lot of cons that could spell a damaged reputation if they didn't update on their games enough and their games just wasn't up to standards that people expect. Keiji had a questionable run as the producers for some of Capcom's games, but this Kickstarter wrecked what reputation he had left, because it was crowdfunded successfully, but they gave out a mediocre product that people weren't satisfied with for the most.
and not release it on multiple systems with varying degrees of power.
Giordan Diodato agreed. Seeing how the kickstarter began in 2013, with a planned 2015 release date, they should have developed it for next gen and PC, not every system under the sun.
Not only that, but what kind of people on the team made level designs like that? And how truly was the budget for the production? They've could have done more with the graphics and more so with the game itself so it would have its own identity, even if it took some pages from Mega Man. But having it's own identity that separates from the usual is what retains enough originality to stand on its own. Freedom Planet is doing something like this that gets away from being too much like Sonic.
leon4000 Comcept just came up with the idea for Mighty No 9. Inti Creates were the ones who developed the game; the company behind Mega Man 9 &10.
Inafune and Mighty No.9: *fails to bring the spirit of Megaman to a modern age*
Capcom: Fine, I'll do it myself.
"I could probably do 20 minutes on why Mega Mans 2 and 3 are tied for my favorite games of all time."
Do 20 minutes on why Mega Mans 2 and 3 are tied for your favorite games of all time.
Do it!!!!!
El Goodo - Mega Man 3 and Mega Man 7 are both my all-time favorite Mega Man games and if I had to pick just one, it would be Mega Man 3. Mega Man 2 is my third favorite Mega Man game.
Mega Man 3 is an awesome game and my favourite of the classic series. I know how many dislike it, but i don't care
Ultimabuster92 - Yeah, MM3 improves upon everything MM2 did except the music. I give MM2 that, but everything else, MM3 eclipse MM2. I am so happy I still have the original box, manual, inserts and game intact.
MM3 is my childhood and one of the best experiences I have had in the series. Now, Mega Man 7 is the game that many people crap on for some reason. I love Mega Man 7 as well.
I love Megaman 7 too. It's a beautiful game and it's hard enough for me (I judge Mega Man games based on their difficulty and their music btw.)
My least favourite game of the classic series is Megaman 5. It's too easy and i don't really like the soundtrack.
But i also really like Megaman 8 and people seem to HATE that game, so perhaps i misunderstand what Megaman is supposed to be xD
I thank you deeply for not making this just another Inafune hit piece; seeing so many of those over the last few years has been draining, and the more positive outlook refreshing.
wait I know you but i don't know where
I made an extremely popular Neopets review.
That neopets video was unlike anything else I laid eyes on
I believe you meant to say...
*ARIGATO GOZAIMASU* for not making this another Inafune hit piece...
...i'll get out of your house now.
yea. but they still were all hilarious.
I'm really digging the cel shaded look in 11, and the art style over all. The effects look great, too, like explosions and electricity and stuff.
Even, or rather, the highly detailed sprites
Sprites look cool!
problem with 2D sprites is that they're more expensive.
But the game looks promising.
I'd love it if they did a sprite-based or hand drawn Mega Man game some day.
More expensive, but as recent games have proven, much more valuable and pays off more.
Just look at Cuphead, Sonic Mania, Wonderboy, Skullgirls, Ducktales, there's a market and a thirst for flat, 2D hand drawn stuff.
Fuse Man may just be the coolest and most well-designed boss in a long time. His move set, animations, how the electricity looks, everything about him looks amazing. And I hope other bosses "overclock" themselves like Block Man. This is shaping up to be a true evolution of the series that's been a long time coming. MegaMan 9 should've been like this.
I was still in high school when MN9 came out, and I scrounged up $100 to back that thing on Kickstarter...screw that game. Mighty Gunvolt Burst on Switch is a ton of fun though!
Ah, kids.
Oh yeah, Mighty Gunvolt Burst takes everything wrong with Mighty No. 9's concepts and throws it into a fire.
And you know what gave me a good feeling about Mighty Gunvolt Burst when I boated the game up for the first time? Hearing the 8-bit remix of Azure Striker Gunvolt 2's character select theme.
Stuff We Play I feel most disappointed for those who backed for the 3DS and PSVita...
I honestly just want megaman star force 4. 3 was such a good game and had so much more yo build upon
At least the game exists. People have been burned much worse than that on kickstarter. Many projects turn into nothing at all.
A comment on the Red Ash animation: who had the bright idea to keep CGI at below 20fps? It looks like a PS2 struggling to run a real time render of an early PS3 game.
A lot of "3d anime" looks like that for some reason, I think it looks awful.
Exactly the reason I can't stand looking at Batman Ninja meanwhile everyone just blindly praises it.
CyrusBluebird Y'know, with that description, it sounds a lot more nostalgic.
Indeed! And appropriately enough, it looks like Megaman X7 for PS2's CG cutscenes, which do the same thing
have you watched anime at 60fps?
God, Mega Man Legends 3 still hurts. That art looked so good.
TectonicImprov if this does well the team might finish it!
I was fine with it dying, it didn't look good
Ike of Pyke The demo looked really weird. Looked like one of those cheap jump scare games you get from steam.
Omer Srour nice b8
The fact that capcom cancelled legends 3 and blamed the fanbase for it still pisses me off.
Thanks for watching the video! Here’s some other Mega Man trivia if you need more reasons to be excited about Mega Man 11,
-The last traditional Mega Man game made in-house at Capcom was Mega Man X8 for PS2, released 12/7/04
-The last traditional Mega Man game was Mega Man 10, developed by Inti Creates, released 3/10/10
-The last Mega Man game made in-house at Capcom was Star Forces 3 for DS released 11/13/08
-Capcom has actually been working on Mega Man 11 for a while. A Mega Man 11 concept image was slipped into Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, released 8/8/17, months before its announcement.
-Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 and Mega Man X Legacy Collections 1 & 2 were all made in-house at Capcom instead of farmed out elsewhere like to Backbone or Digital Eclipse (The Disney Afternoon Collection)
-Monster Hunter World is now Capcom’s single best selling game in company history, and you’d hope that the budget of Mega Man 11 is nothing compared to Monster Hunter’s profits. Mega Man 11 is hopefully a low-risk project for Capcom.
-Again, Inafune is gone! We don’t know if that’s necessarily a good thing, but it’s different which has us hopeful!
hey what version of the starman track did you use in this video. it sounds great
3ds port is happening. It’s already available for preorder on play Asia
I mean, he's "gone" but it's obvious that MM11 takes the direct artistic theme that he created, so we'll see.
As much as I hate to say it, I love Inafune but... my favorite megaman games were games that he didn’t envision and had little say in. And that’s Megaman X3 (my favorite) and X6. Those 2 games in my opinion were the best story and music wise. On top of the secrets to find and replay ability. To me they felt the meatiest of megaman games.
No one cares about your shit opinion Derek.
Hopefully the Bloodstained saga will be more successful, we're already off to a good start with Curse Of The Moon...
After playing Curse of the Moon (I'm halfway done with Nightmare now) the only thing I'm worried about with Bloodstained is the atmosphere, because some enemies, especially bosses (like the rainbow harpy thing on the boat or the gold boss were you get Not-Alucard) seem ... off? I don't think they fit the gothic atmosphere particularly well. And the music kinda sucks compared to Castlevania, but it's still serviceable, so I can live with that. Gameplaywise, it's great, and true to Castlevania III while improving on some things that were stupid in that game, like making switching not freeze the game for two seconds.
I think Iga is breaking the Kickstarter curse, Curse of the Moon was really good
Curse of the Moon was a really good little bonus, and what's been shown of Ritual of the Night looks pretty good too. I have far more faith in this one than I ever did with MN9.
What kickstarter curse? Plenty of KS games were great, I can only think of very few that failed.
Agreed, looking forward to Ritual of the Night.
I kind of want one of the oversized MN9 manuals now. What a piece of history.
Something to note about those manuals that Derek didn't mention: They're ENTIRELY in Japanese. Nowhere on the Kickstarter or in any of the followup surveys did it say that the Famicom-style manuals wouldn't be in English.
And make them cry like a Mega Man fan on the Mighty No. 9 Release Day.
Jomaster The Second looks at Mighty gunvolt burst mighty gunvolt and gunvolt.
Douchebag.
no u
Come up with something original, dipshit.
why do you have to be mad
If Christian Whitehead can make a good Sonic game, people who grew up with Megaman and some veterans can make a good Megaman game without inafune. Heck there are a few great fangames right now, and I had a lot of fun playing them.
yu S. They might even make a Legends 3 using Inafune's unused concepts.
That and a "Megaman Maker" are things that would literally print money, but you know...capcom gonna capcom.
Megaman 2.5D is the first one that comes to mind. Megaman Unlimited as well, and one of my favorites which is Megaman 8-BIT Deathmatch. I would really love to see a fan game about Megaman Legends because that's the series I care about the most of all Megamans out there.
It takes more than just bring a fan to do something like christian and the rest of the mania team, do you think he just magically got picked up by SEGA and was made to make a game? No.
tbh, Mania was just average.
"Our boy is back" That got me, man.
so true. them feelz...
Bryan Clark Same, right in the heart.
Feels good though. A true way to cleanse this whole debacle.
all the feelz!
I hear you 😢
Thanks for the shout out! It's always great to work with you!
It's funny, before working on this video, I was pretty cold on the whole Mega Man 11. I was still burnt by Mighty No. 9 and Capcom in general. After editing this video and by proxy doing my own research trying to get articles and headlines and playing some Mega Man 2 in the process to get footage, I found myself realizing how much I love and miss Mega Man. Here is hoping it does well so we can get a real Mega Man Legends!
If you haven't gotten the chance, I highly recommend checking out Mighty Gunvolt Burst then. It takes everything wrong with something like MIghty No. 9 and makes it much better and more palatable. Hell, I put 20 hours into that game and still haven't scratched the surface with the other DLC characters...
Actually Mega Man was designed by Akira Kitamura, Inafune was the art designer for Zero, not Mega Man, and Zero was in 2011's MvC3.
Dont call Failfune the "Father" of Megaman!
Akira Kitamura is his real father!
Stepdad
The babysitter?
You know, anyone else wishing that someday Akira Kitamura, the guy who actually did create Mega Man and establish a huge chunk of its core concepts, comes back with a Kickstarter to make his own game?
I mean, even though they didn't do well sales-wise, he did demonstrate during the NES era that he could produce excellent titles independently with his own company; like Cocoron or Little Sampson, so he'd probably at least be more reliable...
Finished Mega Man 11 today. I played Mega Man the first time, when i was 3 or 4 years old. Can't remember THAT clearly. That was back in 1996 after all. And as a fan of this franchise, i have to say...
It... was... awesome. It was hard and it felt like a Megaman Game should feel like. Of course, the game is short, but remember, ALL Mega Man Games are short. At least those i played.
I already love this game and now i am searching on UA-cam for people who played it. I want to know, how the game is received by the community.
also, it's $30. you don't need to be a 70+ hour RPG at that price.
Yep, if MN9 was the game that MM11 *is*, it would have been regarded as the most successful kickstarter in history - the bar was already so low
Aside from Mega Man, I feel there is a lot of other things that Capcom has forgotten about, like Dark Stalkers.
skabcat242 they have too much fighting games right noe sabe that for a later time. what we need is a dino crisis, onimusha, dmc5 and god hand games
Dark Stalkers HD was a flop. That's why.
they should do a Darkstalkers but I wouldn't mind if took a while as long as its good
I want Capcom to do games only if they are ready and they dont have fear or someone rushing them. I know they made mistakes but they can still do good.
But i heard DMC5 is a reality. Slow steps...
I'd rather have a Dragon's Dogma 2 (no not the online game)
I found your channel with the Mighty No 9 video, it's kind of nostalgic to see you talking about the game again :P
Well, my response to MM11 certainly wasn't muted. I was over the moon! "Fight, Mega Man! For everlasting peace!"
My response was muted, but in the way of "This is real? This is actually happening?", kinda like when Cloud was announced for Smash Brothers.
Over the moon?
Did you have time to say hi to Volnutt?
Skallo
Let’s hope Volnutt’s not gone Maverick due to the Sigma Virus MK. II...
Really hoping the Mega Man fans buy MM11 because it would definitely show Capcom we love Mega Man, and maybe we'll get a new Mega Man X game show support on that and maybe just maybe (reaching) they will restart Legends 3 😍 One can hope
Agree dude. Let's see how this will restart now. www.change.org/p/capcom-megaman-legends-3-get-finished
It's 2023 and I just bought it.
I’m only here for that sweet Soberdwarf editing!... Well, ok, not only that. :P Haha. Great video, guys! Here’s to hoping for a bright future for the blue bomber!
Thank you for mentioning Mighty Gunvolt Burst, it's a really good game and deserves the attention.
Well, Mega 11 just reached platinum status, so yeah, the future of the blue bomber is looking good
1.1 million copies, becoming the third best-selling Megaman game.
RIP Keiji Inafmoney
The circumstances of Mighty No 9 will always remain a sore spot of regret for me.
It's not just the drama that went on, not just the delays, not the broken promises or wasted potential, but the amount of extra work and hours I had put in at work just so I could give more for a reasonably high tier, which was also at a time where I was in a very bad position in my personal life, and ultimately, ending up with nothing in the end, never getting my code, not having my emails answered, at best getting one of two shirts and a plushy I could care less about. Even more salt on the wound, I only did end up getting to play it when PSN gave it for free for PS plus members.
Negativity aside, I am glad that CAPCOM is deciding to do something that looks to blow that stuff out the park, and I'm pretty hyped, and hopefully, we can see some more Mega Man titles in the near future
*hint hint MML3 hint hint*
The fact Inafune didn't even create Mega Man should've been enough reason to let him essentially claim ownership. And it's incredible that he had so much clout and influence that he effectively blocked any new Mega Man games from Capcom for years. I'm glad that that Mighty No. 9 effectively exposed him as a hack and I'm forever grateful that we will get more actual Mega Man games.
1) Mega Man 11 still needs to hit it off well if the Mega Man series overall is going to have a chance. If they can't pull it off with the sales, it's going to be back to their old ways. While I'm glad that they are having the strength to give Mega Man another shot, I'm definitely concerned about the higher ups expectations of Mega Man 11. For Mega man to have a true resurrection, they have to make the game good enough to generate enough sales to keep the Blue Bomber going, and highly assuming Capcom at the most changed their tune enough to cut their franchises a break.
2) We all know that Inafune was never the creator, I see why people are making a big deal out of this, but it's not that big a deal, it's only because later during his career post-Capcom days that MN9 smacked into a wall, alongside the person behind the project himself, that people made a big deal with "He's not the father of Megaman". The true creator already bailed out 2-3 decades ago during the beginning of Mega Man's time as a franchise. He tried to create his own company, but ultimately it fell through and so he want on to do other things after that.
3) I know how toxic the community is, especially when most of them are very unforgiving. For a lot things people say, it's always that toxicity that makes it tough to get an opinion out without everyone trying to Pearl Harbor said person out of the discussion with some BS. When it comes to Inafune, everyone is still toxic as ever about what happened with MN9. Because how much he influence Mega Man, it's no doubt Capcom saw him as that guy who was always there with the series, it would have been slightly different had Kitamura had been there, but that man made his choice to leave Capcom. So Inafune just had the credit of being the character designer and producer for most of Mega Man's games, until his departure. It took a lot for anyone in Capcom to just say, "let's do a Mega Man game." And I can see why, some people are used to key members of the video games series since the beginning just still having a big role, and when they leave, it's a challenge in itself that the company has to do better with their games without those people. It just took awhile for Mega Man 11 to appear after taking a lot of courage to try again. We already have this part in mind. If Sonic Mania can be a smash hit, after being made from fans in the series without Yuji Naka, the same can apply for Mega Man 11. If that's the case, then there's still hope for the Blue Bomber. Because sometimes you have to learn how to move on without the key people behind the creation of the series, the passing of the torch from one to another. P.S. Megaman is still Capcom's, so there's no way Inafune didn't take Mega Man with him, he only took some ideas he learned during his time, and tried to apply it to a new series.
Pepsi Man no , he was not a hack at all . He is part of the team create the first game and also the person that oversee and influence megaman development from 2 to star force . He may not be father of megaman but he take care and influence the series through many years , he had more impact to the series than the father of megaman
@Le Quan I understand what you're saying. Just keep in mind about how all this turned out bad. Everyone is disappointed in Keiji, because of numerous problems with how the Kickstarter was handled.
1) Bad Communication. Updates and other information given were a mess due to the communication manager and other problems. I still remember Dina behind part of that problem as she was a manager, who handled backlash poorly.
2) Questionable actions on MN9 being an anime and live action: People suspect that the funds that was supposed to go directly to the game itself went to questionable projects for a game that wasn't released yet. While discussions were sketchy, some believe this to be so, and they aren't wrong with discussing that the game itself hasn't seen success post-release yet, so it's too soon to start doing other things with MN9 until the game saw success. I need to also added that there was another Kickstarter project named Red Ash, that was also proposed, to which it never reached their kickstarter goal, yet was funded by a Chinese Development company called Fuze.
3) Development of the game wasn't impressive: People paid attention to MN9, and made criticisms with the development, that the graphics in the game should be more than what was produced and the mechanics and gameplay of MN9 were way too similar to Megaman, they believed that it was supposed to have its own identity and it's own unique powers and abilities Beck could have had if they didn't made it too much like Megaman. Even the powers he gains isn't supposed to have that much advantages that could make the game be beat so quick. They released a backer demo that according to backers, didn't make them impressed. A game with that much funds over almost 4 million should be way better than this. Keep in mind that it was only 950,000 initially as the goal, but backers gave them a lot of money over that initial goal.
4) Those very poor trailers with MN9 on Deep Silver's part: I think that part doesn't need much explanation. You can look at the trailers again, and can tell that they really didn't put much effort into. Plus it left a phrase that will be remembered as a meme, and not in a good way.
5) Poor Post-release backer rewards: Alongside the poor to mixed reception of MN9. The backer rewards had communications problems, to even the rewards lacking in detail, and proper hand made work. The 3DS version of the game was never released. The Wii U and other version suffered various problems that added to the post-release criticism.
6) Seemingly Inafune's poor attempt at explanation: Apparently people are convinced that Keiji's explanation was poor saying that the game "is better than nothing." Although some people have spoken that there was a mistranslation on the part of the translator, Benn Judd, and his attempt to understand what Inafune is saying as he is speaking Japanese. But unfortunately the damage was already done. Even if it is the case that there is a translation error, to which other dissenters have also added that he actually said that people should blame him for what went wrong with the game, some people did not exactly think twice before concluding that Inafune's explanation of the game is very poor, and lost the respect of those who believed that he could pull this off.
I'll leave it at that. Just remember that these discussion are still as toxic as ever when people discuss about Keiji Inafune. Immaturity and other things await whenever you talk about that guy. Just leaving you a warning alongside a few reasons why people now have limited expectations of Inafune after MN9.
He's a good illustrator however. I'm sure if he were still at Capcom, they would have demoted him to just an artist working for the company.
Maybe. His biggest illustrative contribution to Mega Man was designing Zero. And by "designing Zero" was making a design with long hair and then someone came in and made it look good into what we now know as Zero. So I have my doubts.
true story: m9 anime were full funded by digital frontier. so comcept doesnt need to use a single cent for making their anime.
😐 i were one of the project artist. the project on hold(maybe cancelled) after the game a week released and the review were bad.
- anime: digital frontier rebuild from scratch, the trailer were done by comcept, and the rebuild 99% look exactly like the concept art.
Let's hope this is the start of more mega man games. You said it best, our boy is finally back.
I like to think Inafune just got overly ambitious and failed at managing his own company. He was a great project manager but the man couldn't manage an entire company and resources to save his life. I feel like he'd do well if given another chance, and some other projects he worked on were pretty good such as Gunvolt. Give the man a little more time and eventually we'll see some more consistent quality as he gets his weaknesses figured out. Just, I hope he learned his lesson about using other people's money poorly.
Hope Mega Man 11 has Roll as a playable character. She could play like Zero with the broom as a sword and the vacuum can shoot out different debris as a buster. Idk I think it'll be kind of cool but I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority on this one.
If we can play as a duck in Gunman Clive. Roll can easily be playable in this.
Pssht, unrelated, but if you feel like mastering an 11 over 9 polyhrythm come over to my channel
she did it once in Powered Up.
DrSpinDash to bad They'll get the Obese Robot with the Eyebrow as a way to Troll.
Speaking of Zero, anyone wishes he is a hidden boss?
Just so you know, I really love your videos. They are always well written and Very well paced, and watching them always makes me happy.
Thank you for your hard work!
Awesome video, as always! When I finally got my retro box and manual for Mighty No. 9, my reaction was, "Oh, ok".
Can't WAIT for the 3ds port :))))))))))))))
I think we're going to be OK, Mega's in pretty good hands this time around. Also, I can't help but notice that the whole helmet-changing thing is similar to an idea A.K. had originally planned for the very first Mega Man game. The new staff really looked back to the series roots when designing this new game!
Great video, btw.
That's helped by the fact that the developers went back and played all the Classic and X games to get a feel on what made the series so special in the first place.
I just wonder just how diffrent everything would be , had Akira Kitamura not left Capcom...
Unfortunately, you can't keep dwelling on with the past. I'm glad I had Mega Man at all and thank the people behind it, I can't leave out Inafune to most people's dismay of him now. Either way, this is the present and we need to embrace what we now have in gaming.
Oh I didn't know that, I kept thinking despite the game's failings, that Capcom borrowed the helmet and arm changing idea from Mighty No. 9 and ditched the simple pallet swaps. Is it just coincidence then?
@@BlueAmpharos Late in saying this but Mighty no 9 isnt the first to use similar gameplay of Mega Man. There have been games that used the same stuff.
Another quality video. A fine job well done Derek! Thank you! Greetings from Chicago! 🖒💣💥🍻
I loved the video, very insightful! just subbed.
I guess there are reasons to believe Capcom might bungle this, but I have a lot more faith in them and their ability to handle their properties after RE7 delivered in a way I never thought it would.
On the Stick yay it delivered a worse version of RE1... not really something to boast about
Have... have you played either RE1 or RE7?
On the Stick yes and RE7 tries really hard to be RE1 but "modern". all while having puzzles that aren't even worth being called puzzles, enemies that are not only esthetically boring but mechanically aswell. the controls are abysmal on console, the FOV is way too small on console and it only actually becomes a >survival< horror game in optional higher difficulties.
REmake is better in every way. artstyle, controls, enemy design, puzzles, leveldesign... the list goes on.
RE1 was iconic, RE7 tries to be and fails.
Let's ignore first that your premise is that a game that "is a worse version" of a game that was literally a genre-defining work that changed the medium as we know it automatically makes it "not really something to boast about," since that's fucking absurd.
RE1's puzzles are also not challenging. They weren't challenging when I was 14, they weren't challenging when I was 19 in the REmake and they're not challenging now. The Molded aren't super interesting visually, no, but mechanically, I disagree. Particularly when you consider that most people playing RE7 would be familiar with other recent entries in the series, in which enemies are little more than an annoyance. The Molded (particularly on a first playthrough) are much tougher than series veterans would expect, and deciding when to fight and when to run becomes a necessary part of long-term survival.
Yes, the game is better on Madhouse. I'm not sure why this is a criticism unless you're just mad people who are more casual can enjoy the game on lower difficulties.
Are you talking about REmake or RE1? Because those are fairly different games. But, again, the idea that a game doesn't stack up to a genre-defining title is "not really something to boast about" is super dumb and reductive and not terribly interesting. It applies to nearly every horror game made after the original RE.
"Mega Man 9 - yay it delivered a worse version of MM2... not really something to boast about"
"Street Fighter III - yay it delivered a worse version of Super Turbo... not really something to boast about"
"A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors - yay it delivered a worse version of the original Nightmare... not really something to boast about"
You see how dumb that sounds?
I agree. And RE2 is looking promising. Monster Hunter World was great. Actually, RE7 and MHW are both some of my favorite games this generation. Seems to be hit and miss with Capcom, they either make great games or terrible ones. But it looks like things are improving over there.
Mighty Gunvolt Burst is the closest thing to a good MN9 game and you don't even need to necessarily play as Beck. Really wished they used more Gunvolt bosses than the MN9 bosses though.
But yeah totally hyped for Megaman 11. Looks great so far.
Mexican Sunbro Burst is a great game. Lol i bought all the dlc characters.
That game felt like crap to me tbh. The "bullet types" didn't seem to have any kind of impact on Beck, so I just ended up using Gunvolt the entire time because he actually had abilities something worth something. If he played like he did in Mighty No. 9, it may have been alright, but I just didn't enjoy that game anywhere close to MN9.
A detail that I found to be quite interesting regarding the bosses was that while they take the aesthetics of the MN9 bosses, their attack patterns are closer to the Gunvolt ones, or at least an inspired mix. For instance, Battalion behaves a lot like Galette Krone, Countershade mixes his own sniping with Merak's wormholes.
The only exception is Cryosphere. I can't quite work out who she's supposed to represent, since she's a shield boss, and Gunvolt doesn't really have those.
such a cool video thanks for making my day better
and now we wait for the past mortem castlevania. Great episode da & gk.
First time I've ever watched your videos and holy crap. This was basically everything I needed to watch, hear and take in. Thank you.
There was just so much to take in, and so much to indulge on. I backed Mighty No. 9, and even apologized for it a bit. It's still a heavy toll that I'm more than willing to accept. Needless to say, I'm happy for Mega Man 11. Hopefully with all of the things that've been going on with Capcom in their fighting game department, and the obvious [continuous] successes of the Monster Hunter franchise, they can breathe new life into the Mega Man franchise with the new Mega Man team they have now. I won't ask for cancelled projects to come back, but I ask for more forward movement and to possibly never be left in the dark again, haha.
I will definitely thank you once more on Twitter. You've earned this sub.
Inafune: I still got it! *flopped*
Capcom: We still got it! *effin success!!*
Sometimes fans just does it better.
God damn Derek...Grace...BOTH of ya! You guys are fucking KILLING it my dudes! Yalls content is unbelievably juicy, haha. I can't get enough. Thank you SO much for all the work you do and your beautiful, creative minds. Can't wait for the next one peeps. :)
This was both learning and interesting, didn't know Kickstarter took so much.
Mighty No. 9 has shown them that there's a public for it,
and Mighty No. 9 also shown them that there's no competition.
Not only was the Mighty No. 9 manual not fit on the Famicom style box but it wasn't even in full color like they said it would. Also that PS Vita version may probably not happen as Sony is killing the Vita next year.
Derek,
I've been a fan of your work since you were the Happy Video Game Nerd. Your chill, factual delivery is why I keep coming back. You boast high production values and research covered topics. You're not just another clickbait rumor channel. Thank you for being interesting.
I almost never "click the bell" but I just did for you, after realizing you haven't showed up in my feed for almost 6 months! A true tragedy I'm now correcting.
P.S. Love the channel redesign and the new video series' Punching Weight and Getting Super Nerdy. Please keep them coming.
P.P.S. Typing on a phone at 5:30am. Much respect, my dude.
To reply to your comment of: "I am over 30 years old."
In 2022, we celebrate Megaman's 35 anniversary in December. You are valid.
Megaman 11 is here, and it's great!!
This whole saga is like "How NOT to run a Kickstarter 101"
Welcome back DA and Grace!
Now that the blue bomber is back, maybe they should start fixing that orbital elevator and bring our man back.
figures overambition would be the downfall of MN9.
It's fine to be ambitious. Just be wary of being overambitious.
So After MN9 failure, why did Comcept didn't fulfill their 3 episode Documentary including their 3DS and Vita ports and why MNo.9 was also never have a cameo on other indie games aside from Mighty Gunvolt Guest and Comcept's earlier work Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z when it should be other hit indie Kickstarter games such as Yooka and Laylee in Brawlout or even Shovel Knight on Rivals of Aether,Bloodstained,Indivisible, etc ?
Giordan Diodato What was so ambitious about MN9? Greediness is what brought down that project, the game itself had no new ideas or risks whatsoever
@@prajnaanandaarya1015 I don't follow?
@@misaeltoral508 he wasn't just making one game. He was making said game for multiple platforms with varying degrees of power, a movie, an animated cartoon series, a comic, and giving out physical rewards. You think we could have gotten all of that on a $4 million budget?
hopefully this success will bring capcom to develop x9.
Excellent video. I like that you didn't go crazy/emotional. This story has many interesting sides to it, and it's a clear example of why I'm sceptical of this kind of funding. I still contribute to Obsidian's masterpieces - just beacause I love them that much;)
I was so pumped seeing the MM 11's graphics. I've been trying to wait patiently ever since. It's a must have!
When you see a SSFF video in your sub feed - *HEAVY BREATHING*
Don’t give up, Inafune.
ZeraEx7 At least Capcom is trying to improve themselves, whereas Inafune still hasn't given any news on Comcept or MN9, which definitely won't be getting a sequel anytime soon.
Comcept was absorbed into, believe it or not, Level-5
As of now, Megaman 11 is the third best-selling Megaman game at 1.1 million copies, behind Megaman X and Megaman 2. It is also the second best-selling Classic Megaman game, behind Megaman 2. (note: This does not include sales of Megaman Legacy Collection, which sold 1.11 million copies)
And it is Capcom's 88th best-selling game of all time.
I actually backed the Magicicada project and forgot about it, didn't know they finished the animation. Good for them! Wish it could have gone to more episodes but it was pretty clear from the beginning that more episodes were probably never going to happen. That was easy to read between the lines. Animation funding is hard to achieve and I'm glad they achieved a finished project. Hope we ever get an official western release. Thanks for mentioning this project in the video!
Dude I loved the battle network series
So.... with the very positive reception.... how about a look back/review?
Great video. Your videos are starting to become much better. At first I didn't really understand your channel and content and if you even were a UA-camr trying to achieve anything, but after seeing the 100k celebration video I now know you are. I don't know how to put this in words, but your older videos seem dull for some reason in my eyes. However, the newest videos are looking brighter than ever. So keep it up.
thanks, great video, you have a fan here
-Anyone remember Mega Man: Powered Up? That was a 2.5D Mega Man platforming game too-
-Whats that?-
I did LOL. One of my first Mega Man games
Same here.
playable roll when
Vita would eventually be discontinued and the 3DS has about 1 year left before shutting down. So it's a safe bet both have been quietly canned and Level5 is hoping we just forget about them.
When you said that our blue boy was back i literally cried tears of joy!
i sill remember when megaman 11 was announced, i was on the school bus after school, and had checked the news app on my phone to be greeted with a headline about megaman's return. it made me realize how much i missed games with nostalgic styles.
Man ....I feel bad for Keji Inafune. Yeah it’s his fault it failed so bad but, I don’t think he was trying to scam anyone. He just bit off more than he can chew.
I used to feel bad for him, too, but after seeing Egoraptor's video on how classic Megaman teaches the player without text boxes that pause the game, I went back to Legends (which he directed) and it is LOADED with text boxes that pause the game and treat you like a moron. I think that's why MN9 and everything else he touches fails; he thinks all gamers are braindead and need hand holding. That and his taking the title of the father of megaman reeks of hubris. So I don't feel too bad. He's a douchebag.
RettMikhal That sounds pretty petty. So there’s text blocks.....So? Lots of games did that. Sounds like that was just common.
You are probably the only one that wants that Westernized MMX. I get serious Act Zero vibes from that schlock.
That slowdown mechanic actually to me feels like a callback to those 8bit days when there are too many enemies on the screen and the game would go into slow motion. It's like they took a glitchy game mode and made it an official part of gameplay.
The ending where you talked about the reception of mega man 11s trailer. I can say the exact thing. Hell, when I saw the trailer in December, I was saying (oh, mega man 11, cool...) I wasn’t very excited. It took me a few months to get excited. The demo met my expectations, and I can’t wait for the full game to come out.
Hey there’s a clip from mega man 8 bit deathmatch fan game! I worked on that.
I'm a Kickstarter backer and made the stupid mistake of picking a 3DS port. They haven't offered any sort of other version despite having no updates on the 3DS/Vita ports. I even tried reaching out to get a PS4 version instead, but got no response. Very frustrating.
I don't think the Vita version is coming. The PS4 version includes two versions on PS3.
As for the 3DS version, again probably not coming due to the 3DS not handling UE3 well
are you stupid? he paid for the game and has not received what he paid for, how is that ungrateful you idiot LMAO
I heard about MM 11 a few days late on my Birthday.
I can't say it was a better gift.
I have waited for SO long.
Man, Mighty No 9 left me saddened with the results because I was so hype for it during the KS campaign. I was also slow to be caught up again with the first MM11 trailer. The recent trailer got me a bit more excited for it though. Great video, man!
I believe that Mighty No 9 taught us that Mega Man cannot be replaced. Mega Man 11 looks so much better than Mighty No 9 in just about every way. When the game comes out, I'll be going after Block Man first. He just seems like a wimp.
Frizzurd Yeah. There was no thought put into the enemies or sub-bosses in MN9 either, they are so forgettable. And the traffic cone enemies didn't even make it in the game. And speaking of Protoman, I hope he's playable in 11.
If he is playable, then I welcome it, Bass too.
Agreed.
Who the fuck said Mighty No. 9 was supposed to replace Mega Man? Dipshit.
You weren't around when Mighty No 9 was first announced, were you?
I SO wish Maverick Hunter happened.
Reminds me of Vanquish.
ReCore is so sad. SOMETHING happened behind the scenes. Micro$oft doesn't make $40 action games. Whether it was a communication problem, Comcept, Armature not having resources, or Micro$oft acting up (ScaleBound), there's a story there I'm certain.
yeah Microsoft has really burned bridges, especially in the last 8 years.
And now, in 2024, Capcom has gone back to pretending Mega Man doesn’t exist.
" ... that's certainly better than nothing,"
I see what you did there.
There is only one Mega Man franchise. Capcom's Mega Man!
I'm also looking at you 20XX
Mega man x tho
They nees to finish the ZX series lmao and finally end the main timeline
(From Classic to ZX 3)
Well Azure Striker Gunvolt can fill the Zero/ZX shaped hole in my heart.
Joel Martin it may be, but it sucks that we'll never complete the Mega Man ZX story
At least the Blue Blomber lives again..
How long that will last though, is in Capcom's ballpark
Who knows?
Maybe they'll announce new X, Battle Network, and even Legends games
(Before cancelling them all due to some shenanigans or another)
Good stuff as always sir
Superbro64 Yo forgot Starfroce and ZX
4wheal
I thought ZX's storyline was finished.
Being that the zero timeline games were heavily story based.
Superbro64 No the Zero series is finished the second ZX game ended on a cliffhanger.
I want a Classic Mega Man leading into the Mega Man World series(for the Game Boy, by which I refer to Quint) and Mega Man X series, as well as a Mega Man X game(or games) leading into the Cyber Elf Wars.
Superbro64 Literally all of those are finished storywise. Except for that 3D one that apparently everyone likes now but everyone loathed back in the day
It's like Capcom looked at Mighty no. 9's trainwreck state and were like "whew let's put this bitch in his place by making Megaman 11 and fucking destroy him"
The graphics even look similar between the two but one is clearly more polished LMAO
1:10
i don't care whether you are 30+ or 50+ years old, the fact that your blaster was not inflated properly irked me the most LOL
Honestly Megaman 11 reminds me of Shantae. Just with less T and A. : ) I can show my interest, but I'm not going to get my hopes up until it is released. I've learned not to trust devs anymore until the product is reviewed proper from people I trust.
At first i thought you mean with less "Teen" and "Adult", as i thought that you meant that Shantae is for adults.
Only then i realized what you actually meant.
That blaster looks a bit... Prolapsed...
We had to keep blowing it up in between takes. It’s seen better days 😅 -gk
He defeated Goatse Man
Now, I am just praying for a new mega man x game for next generation consoles.
Ur videos r da best. Thank you
I actually thoroughly enjoyed Mighty No. 9
Richie Gonzo Gaming 🤨
Yup... I don’t think MN9 is as horrible as most people think. If one can see it as a whole new different game and not a successor or rip off of Mega Man, MN9 is pretty entertaining.
I don't think it was horrible, but it was disappointing.
Great channel! subbed :D
I have to admit I wasn't very hyped by the initial announcement but the pre-order trailer has gotten me hyped. It looks, as you said, like what I wanted Mighty No. 9 to be.
What did he do with all that money anyway?
He squandered it everywhere.
He was absolute worst at managing funds they got from Kickstarter.
Tough there's also rumors he didnt spend all the money on Mighty , and wanted to left it for other things.
If only people would think harder , and at best give them the bare minimum they requested (which was 900k btw , and even then there's lots of other indies that did better with FAR less.) maybe then Failfune wouldnt be in over his head.
sequels, TV show, and movie.
You act like 3 million dollars is a lot for a game...
@@GiordanDiodato The kick starter wasn't for a sequel, TV show, or movie. It was for a GAME. One single game that was supposed to wow the crowd and make Capcom think twice about not making a Mega Man game. The kick starter alone garnered massive attention and funds. People wanted a good spiritual successor similar to how Yooka-Laylee turned out. Instead, they got... mediocrity and mismanagement. In hindsight, it was good because Capcom did take notice of the attention the kick starter got and ended up making Mega Man 11. It was also bad because Inafune wasted everyone's time and money on all this nonsense instead of focusing on delivering the one thing that he promised from the start.
Keiji Inafune looks like he could cosplay as Detective Gumshoe, lol.
Man oh man, Megaman 11 was GREAT. Bought it on launch day and enjoyed every second of it.
*WHERE THE FUCK IS LEGENDS 3*
*8+ YEARS*
I really hope they return to the legends series one day! It had a lot of potential
@@ningensan8198 it was the only Megaman series I enjoyed!
Are you from India?
Amazing how widespread the fanbase is but they figured there wasn't enough fan interest
For me, Mighty No 9 was somewhat rehabilitated with the awesome Mighty Gunvolt Burst (oh yeah, Gunvolt is essentially yet another Megaman spiritual successor series - wasn't Inafune also involved there?).
Except Gunvolt is miles better that that Mighty Failure.
Also Inafune was involved yes , but certaintly not very much.
At the very best he's an artist , nothing more.
I agree, but I am talking of the Gunvolt/Mighty No 9 crossover game, Mighty Gunvolt Burst. It was awesome, and basically had the levels and bosses of MIghty No. 9, just that you could also play as Gunvolt.
Inafune was the executive producer of that series, not that anyone gives him credit for that -overrated- series.
I NOT talking about Gunvolt, I am talking about Mighty Gunvolt Burst. It's an 8-bit version of Mighty No 9 with the same levels and bosses, just that you can also play as Gunvolt. Mighty Gunvolt Burst redeems Mighty No 9 completely. It's what Mighty No 9 should have been.
Inafune was involved with Gunvolt.
