    It's important for viewers to know that not all land identified on Canadian maps as "Crown Land" is actually owned by the Canadian government. There are large tracts of unceded Indigenous land (land never sold, conquered, or treatied away by the Indigenous inhabitants) within Canada's borders. If you intend to explore Crown Land camping, please carefully ascertain whether the land you intend to use is actually unceded Indigenous territory. If that is the case, then you should request permission from the local Indigenous authorities.

      In my experience, most of the first nations reservations have been super chill with me when I ask them if I can be on their land. Plus I really like talking to the people there. Almost always I'll end up finding someone else fishing and end up in some of the best conversations. Especially with the elders. Man oh man. Some of the old timers have a lot of wisdom to share. I usually end up giving someone a ride somewhere which turns into an invite to something else. Once I ended up in the hall for a poker tournament and made it about halfway through and then got totally beat 🤣👍 Fun times

    With the title "So High", I was expecting you to pull a bong out of your backpack and fire it up! lol It sure is beautiful there, I thought the site you created had a stunning view. Those fleas were insane though!

      Hahaha UA-cam titles can be deceiving. Lol. It definitely did have a nice view. And the police were insane but they were not bother some in anyway. Thanks for commenting. Cheers

    I love the color and trim on that suit Christine. It's your sport, so go all in. Some people spend many thousands of dollars on golfing, bowling, hockey, skiing etc. All to get the most out of themselves and their sport. Your dedication is admirable.

    Great video Christina! I haven't been on the Gibson in many years. My wife and I used to use it to access McRae Lake. Hope your shoulder is better! I enjoyed seeing the scenery and as usual, picked up a couple of tips! My wife is taking me out to dinner so I have to hurry. I'll watch the second segment after I get home - just can't wait!!! Stay safe and I'll be watching for your next outing!

      Thanks so much Eric. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. I hope you had a great dinner as well. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. My shoulder is still not healed, but I’m just kind of getting used to it being like this. Probably not a good thing. Cheers!

    Great adventure! Much respect for your gumption to just do it. I don't really have any friends who will paddle with me or invest in a boat, so its just me and my dog and our kayak. I'd love some company, but I'm not waiting for it. Life is too short to wait for anything that may never come.
    I don't have a dry suit or a wetsuit yet, so I carry a drybag with a track suit in it and a towel. That's aside from my camp loadout. I'm never leaving land without enough to survive a few days or a week. As awesome as matches and stuff are, I carry several fire methods, but for emergency reasons I carry a butane torch so I can just get one going fast if needed. This weekend the goal is to explore some small islands and hammock camp on one or 2 of them, fish a bit, do some astrophotography. 😎👍

      Thank you so much for your kind words and the great comment. I have read it several times and have left it on my comments unanswered section so I can repeatedly read it. Lol. I think what you’re doing is brave and awesome and getting out there however, you can is admirable. I hope you continue to enjoy your outings and stay safe. Cheers.

      You can get cheaper ones but they are still pretty pricey. I’ve seen some less popular brands for $500-600. Thanks for watching. I hope you enjoyed the video. Cheers.

    I'm really glad you explained and showed the first turn off because I was wanting to go back and give it a paddle. We left Bala last year and took that same route down to McCrae and loved it. We had had a really long day on the water and stayed at the site by the dam. Thank you for sharing. Rob

      I’m so glad I could help. There is a full video on it on my UA-cam channel from 2021 day tripping. If you need more info, google Camper Christina Gibson river and it should come up. If not, I can find the link for you if you need it. Cheers!

    I have heard that taking niacin will increase circulation and can make you warmer. They talk about "niacin flush" where you get rosy cheeks due to an increase in blood flow. You might research that.

    I found out when my UC is in a flare my adrenal gland sucretes more cortisol. I get cold. A blood test will tell you if your cortisol level is high.

    have you lived in the area your whole life?
    I am in Wisconsin and I love it. I wish we had more snow in the SE though.
    Are there jobs other than tourism?

    • @boneseyyl1060
      @boneseyyl1060 Рік тому

      It is essentially a tourism economy. But 4 hours south and you are in Toronto. It's basically the area that wealthy Torontonians flock to in the summer months.

    • @CamperChristina
      @CamperChristina  Рік тому

      Lol . Thanks Boneseyy! I think he was asking me, though. Lol .
      @nature lover. I moved to Muskoka 7 years ago as of yesterday coincidently. I’m from Niagara which is 3 hours south of me, 2 hrs south to toronto from here. There are lots and lots of jobs, but I guess it depends on what you do? If you work in trades many of them work on properties year round. I am a bookkeeper. I have year round work, as do most of our staff taking care of properties. Have you lived in Wisconsin your whole life? I’ve heard good things about it.

      There are all kinds of jobs in the bush. I worked tree planting, timber cruising, timber scaling and silviculture. It is not all tourism. There are even people practicing their religious values in preferred silence and solitude. Whatever you can imagine as a creative exercise can be done in the woods. It's up to you and your capabilities.
