      @Marshal Marrs I know right? I Imagine if an advanced civilization come to visit us and the leader of these species says: What the f*ck?!? Why you people of earth are so crazy to say these things on us? There are no such things like: green/gray alien, reptilians, Annunaki, nordics, or what else, just you of earth, us, and maybe other spieces, but their are not like those "aliens" that you people believe. We are appeared thanks to Evolution, like you. No one has helped you in the past to develop your civilization, you are the responsible for this. No extraterrestrial civilization visit your planet for years with these so call UFO to study your world, this is the first time of the history that an advanced civilization visit your world. And the stories to kindap people for experiments or other bad things? We are not monsters, we don't kindap species from other planets or our species. This is why we don't visit earth. You humans have too many prejudices about everythings, you are also arrogant and suoerficial. And don't you dare to accuse us to be the responsible of the end of your species, you are destroying yourselfe. 10:23 I generally like Holchelaga's videos and find his pretty even keel tone to be refreshing but I would propose that saying Scientology and Heaven's Gate are comparable to religions like Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, or Judaism is dangerous. Scientology and Heaven's Gate are both cults, dangerous ones at that. The abusive practices of Scientology are well documented. Regardless of whether or not you believe in auditing, the cult like behavior they encourage on their practitioners is not healthy. Similarly, Heaven's Gate required members to cut off contact with their family and indoctrinated their members into committing suicide.
    Granted that there are dangerous cult offshoots of the mainstream religions, but they are exceptions to those religions. In that light, I'm sure there are many, many more UFO religions out there that are not cults and likewise hate the stigma that Scientology and Heaven's Gate has brought on them. It's those groups that are the more apt comparison mainstream faiths, rather than dangerous cults. I guess what I'm trying to say is: Jim Jones and the People's Temple is to Christianity, what Marshall Applewhite and Heaven's Gate is to UFO Relgions.

    • @nivircescrittore8304
      @nivircescrittore8304 2 роки тому +17

      The thing is: *today* the mainstream religions we have are more subdued and are not so wacky and cultish like those two, but are we sure this has always been the case? What if the way a religion becomes mainstream is first being super cultish and amassing power, and then after it has stablished itself, slowly become more PG so that it will spread better? I feel like we don't know enough about how religions are born to make a definite guess on this, which is why these UFO religions are interesting subjects to study in the first place.
      And, second, and perhaps most importantly, the Church of Scientology is known to be very sensitive to their public image and tends to pursue legal action against critics, as well as doing a lot of shady things to silence then, so I think it makes sense for Hochelaga to tiptoe around them when mentioning them.

      @@nivircescrittore8304 I disagree, some of the largest mainstream religions have been completely open with their texts and doctrines from the very beginning, Islam and Buddhism for example. Some religions were and still are secretive (to a varying extent) as they weren't supposed to be preached outside of their ethnicity/culture, like Judaism, Druze, Yazidis. The only example of a religion I can think of that started as a cult and then changed to become a more open religion is Christianity (and the various related forms of Gnosticism).

      @@DukeOnkled no. Because its a ridiculous explanation that doesnt even make sense. If you read the original article of the incident you would know that it talks about a massive trianglular aircraft, spheres falling to the Earth in clouds of smoke and many different shapes cylinders, crescents, crosses and spears. Obviously its 1561 so they don't have the proper language to describe what could be alien aircraft. Non of it describes a sun dog even remotely which makes that excuse laughable.

    • @amphibeingmcshpongletron5026
      @amphibeingmcshpongletron5026 2 роки тому

      @@alxofficial1541 I'll discount anything that inaccurately or insufficiently describes a certain phenomena, mainstream or not. I agree that the sun dog explanation for Nuremburg is ridiculous given the accounts and the depictions. There's clearly crashed smoking objects like the ones in the sky seen in the painting. While sun dogs DO describe a lot of the stuff you see depicted in biblical paintings of miracles and such, this particular event seems completely unrelated. There isn't even a ring of light depicted anywhere in the sky. To then go and say something like: "See? Maybe think about reality before jumping to conclusions and calling it aliens." is hypocritical.
      This isn't even in defense of ufos or aliens being the culprit in this Nuremberg case, just of common sense and equality of skeptical rigor. People will go to ridiculous lengths to debunk or explain away something they personally find ridiculous. Typically equally (if not more-so) as ridiculous as whatever theory they find ridiculous.
      "What could these UFOs be that were tracked by military clocking impossible speeds for any known aircraft that're causing such a ruckus in our national defense programs? That's really strange. Could it be some kind of technology the public and/or military's never seen before?"
      -> "OmG iT's JuSt A bIrD yA dUmMy aLiEns ArEn'T rEaL! LmAo! bEtTeR fInD yOuR TiNfOiL hAt! LoL!"
      By their own purported logic, it's should be equally silly to jump to conclusions that, while familiar to us, completely fail as a reasonable explanation for what's observed, as it would be to jump to a more likely, but unconfirmed (advanced tech of some kind), explanation that isn't familiar to us. What they fail or refuse to explain, they'll either ignore, or just settle on an equally ridiculous explanation that just happens to be something regularly observed. Then, they still have enough cognitive dissonance left over to chortle and insinuate you're an idiot for exploring alternative explanations (because you've already done the research to find out if there WAS a simple explanation) that they refuse to consider because they've already determined them to be silly based on "how they feel about it" and congratulate themselves on being "rational".
      People made fun of explorers coming back from Africa and describing Gorillas. Nobody believed them. People living in Europe had obviously never heard of them or seen them before, except for these "silly stories", and it took a long time for them to become scientifically recognized, despite being observed and reported by "silly sun-sick explorers" for decades.
      It's beyond me how people can dismiss extraordinary and unexplained things like UFOs and either totally write them off as either totally fabricated and irrelevant to any reasonable public discourse, as if it were a complete non-issue, or they outright betray their own reasoning in favor of overly simple, banal, and inaccurate explanations. That or they just outright ignore it because they don't care. I can at least sympathize with that last reason to dismiss it a bit more, though I definitely don't relate to it. At least they aren't trying to appear smart or superior at the cost of betraying what intelligence they actually have.

    Sad not to see Posadas here though it is a little stretch...perhaps one for a future video?. Also from an academic standpoint, cult isn't a useful term and doesn't have much use or meaning beyond a pejorative description...from an outside perspective most religions can be confortably defamed as a cult and arguments made to discredit their legitimacy on those grounds. Because of it's unclear meaning, genealogy and the emic-etic divide, cult isn't really a helpful term and it's far better when dealing with a religiously inspired group's harmful, toxic or deadly behavior to simply describe it and let it speak in its own terms (Though of course what is included or omitted mean this still requires careful scrutiny).

    • @tychocollapse
      @tychocollapse 2 роки тому

      A term can be useful when you find a unique application. Consider cult as a mini-culture. While a so-called subculture is a culture within a culture, a cult implies such a subculture that is deliberately insular versus a subculture that is not or less so.

      Kind of related but you should check out people seeing white light when a near-death experience occurs. You can try to google it, or check it on youtube as well. It is a phenomenon and lots of people who experience them either become religious or have some altered perspective towards life. Because sometimes they see heaven, or hell or some paradise or talk to some entity. My father actually experienced this back then when he got rammed by a car and told me about it, I didn't care about it then, but grown up now, reading more and maturing and now turning a spiritual person after years of Atheism myself after realizations, it is kind of making sense. There really is more to what we know of today.
