I can honestly say that I am glad I watched it all as I didn't think that I would find it all interesting as I was never really good with numbers etc but I have surprised myself and actually really enjoyed this. Maybe some of your figures are rubbing off. Thank you for the extra mile you go to do these!
awesome video, I live in South Carolina and it's amazing to see you doing a project here. I recently purchased my first/forever home, and I have became a LCN addict. The use of milorganite alone inspired by you has made a night and day difference in my lawn. I've used a number of your tips and techniques and so far I couldn't be happier with the results I'm a starting to see. It's great in the world we live in to see someone like you Allyn, who is passionate about something that creates beauty and not destruction. Thanks and I look forward to more videos this spring.
Hi Allyn this is going to be a very interesting project! From what I understand, the extended roots from the acidic tree injects most of the acid into the soil. Lime applications are like fighting a fire with lime that never ever ends, when the homeowner keeps the acidic tree injecting acid into the soil through its roots.
I've never been motivated to get a soil test, though I know the benefit of them. The Soil Savvy examples you provided, as well as the detailed analysis of them have more than persuaded me. The tests seem a little expensive (I probably need three to accurately measure my lawn), but they're probably a beneficial investment in the long run. Thanks for your efforts in this video!
Nice vid. Don't apologize. I appreciate the "why" cause that's how I am when I share knowledge. Too many people are always just looking for "the answer" (Just tell me how many bags of Milorganite and what setting to use on my spreader), but the answer for a lawn varies so understanding the why and how to properly determine what your lawn care needs are is important.
Great work Allyn, this is an Oscar nomination product......Also thanks again for this season vids, one thing that I learn this summer is thrower her down.....
Love it! You put a lot into this and it shows. Watching this makes me wanna dig down, sample, and nerd out with you. I'm looking forward to the future of your channel, the project lawn, and any awesome ideas I can steal for my own plot of grass! You make lawn care make sense, and that really rings a chord in my book.
Great video Allyn! I, for one, enjoy the longer more in depth videos. I'm in the process of rehabbing my Bermuda lawn and the information you provide is extremely helpful. Thanks!
Love the longer vid! Very informative, great details! Will be getting a soil test kit for the lawn rehab I started on the neighbors yard. Glad u got a sponsor and look forward to the next vid. Keep up the great work and stay safe out there on the road LCN
this was great Al! thank-you for the hard work you put into this production. don't worry about how long or detailed the videos are....we will watch because it's so long and detailed. great breakdown I'm ordering my kit now!
i know im asking the wrong place but does anybody know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the account password. I love any assistance you can give me.
@Dorian Jeffrey I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm trying it out now. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I started watching your vids last spring. You have helped me have a much better understanding of what is going on with the needs of the lawn, soil etc. Thanks for that. I am curious about the other race car in that guys garage!! You should do a quick segment on that! LOL!! That was cool! Looked like a mini Indy car
Just got my Soil Savvy results backs. Good stuff, glad I did the soil test. Thanks for the recommendation for Soil Savvy--super easy! I'm rewatching this to see you go over the results of the test you did. Looking forward now to see you back at the Project Lawn--I'm guessing we'll be seeing an update here soon.
I would like to know more about lime. I don't know why I should put it down other than what you just said, but want more. You have never mentioned it before from what I have seen.
Much thanks for all your video setup to make this very informative session. You have a talent to communicate your knowledge with other Lawn Care Almonds which reside below the Lawn Care Nut. ;-)
No need to apologize for the detail-us true Nuts love it! Knowing the "why" is what gives me the confidence to share what I learn with others Btw...still waiting on that book you're working on ;) if you need help editing or anything, I'd be happy to help
At 10# of dolomite lime per every 1,000 sq.ft. would take a bunch of applications to raise the Ph to an acceptable level. My information says that it takes 110# per 1,000 to raise it one full point in Ph. I just put 175# of dolomite on my front yard and 145 on my back yard. Both areas are about 2,500 sq. Ft. The back yard tested 6.0, today, and the front 5.8. I figure they are both in the 6.5 range, now. I will retest this fall and add more lime if need be. The front yard has a 300 year old white oak tree, right in the middle of it, which is probably the reason for the lower Ph. I am shooting for a Ph of near 7.0, but we both know that is wishful thing, here in the south.
BTW - re: the copper, I learned in a rose workshop this weekend that copper destroys rose bushes so they warned not to use copper fungicide on them. I don't know if there are other plants that have the same reaction.
It's about time you started to listen to me about the soil samples. You could of took front, side and back yard mixed the 3 together for one sample. Put them on the Jonathan Green lawn care program.
Thanks for the information on the lime!! I just posted a question last week about it on one of your other videos. I ended up putting down about 7lbs/1000 of the quick lime. You sure are right about the inconsistency in granule size.
Allyn. do you recommend lime applications only in the fall. I read that due to the slow release its better for the fall and can sit during the winter. That plus with ferts in the spring it doesnt fight them. thx
Why are the recommended ratios on this test different than on my test? Also the local university test I did is WAY WAY WAY different than this test. It's leaving me really confused.
Hi Allyn, thanks for recommending a soil test-nothing beats a data-driven plan. I just received my results and they are quite different from what you show in this video. I got a very low NPK, a high PH, with extreme Ca and slightly elevated S. I for one, could certainly appreciate your insights about how to treat this, perhaps others could benefit as well. Should I send you the link to the report for your comments?
Omg you're in Bluffton! Wish I could said hi! Does the project lawn fam have any crab grass or weeds that need decimating or tending to? Also if you're looking for scenic shots (I know you love those) you've gotta check out old town Bluffton, and the place where you're driving(If you are driving where I think you're driving, keeping your element of surprise) toward the end of the video, get some shots of the sunrise along the May river and the history of Bluffton! So exciting!
Might want to revise your statement on lime not procuring any visible change in your lawn with this present test soil analysis which shows the terrain is very much poor in micro and macro nutrients. In such a depleted soil, the grass will change, and if the owner has at anytime put lawn feed(fert), he will see that after one month of the lime application, his grass will react to the NPK he already had spread and any subsequent Fert application.
Enjoyed this video very much. Especially the information showing macro and micro nutrients. I would like to test my lawn and know the results. How can I get a soil tester kit and be able to send in the samples to get a read out?
i found your web page under lawn striping and i am glad i did . your project is just what i wanted to know about Lawn Soil Testing, Lime Applications, Project Lawn 2017 just move my daughter to Bluffton sc 8 weeks ago i have a Fescue lawn in sc and just did a soil sample and set it out .hope you can help me too. keep up the good work
If 1 point in Ph gives 10x and 2 points gives 100x then 1.5 is really 50x right? So, being at 4.5 instead of 6 is 50x off versus 14x, right? I am not completey sure, though.
after hearing all the talk about too much shade on the lawn and then seeing how they had all their trees thinned, I'm going to get my trees thinned now. I need all the help I can get ;)
I know some people are opposed the the LCN making an extra buck, but I am not one of them. How about setting a price to have us email you our soil test results so you can help us form a spring plan?
This video prompted me to get the soil savvy test done. It seems I have almost ideal conditions to work with as some macro and micros are in range, and those that are not, are easy fixes. However Phosphorus is through the roof at 26.8 and should be 4-10. Should I be concerned? Also, your suggestion of 10#/1000 of lime, is this because you should get all macro and micro within the zone and run low on ph if that's where it falls, or get ph in the zone and run high on micro and macro?
Great video. but, centipede likes more acidity soils. 5.0-6.0. I know that it's both st. Aug and centipede, but I'm REALLY curious to see how the centipede reacts to that much lime over time.
Awesome video and can't wait for the series! You outlined the fert and lime schedule, what about pre emergent and any necessary spring maintenance? Just wondering because the climate is very comparable to where I live.
Hey Lawn Care Nut first I've been subcribed and following your videos for almost 2 years you been very helpful.. I live in Los Angeles C.A I have St Augustin grass as well if I thought I was hooked on your videos well now you hit the spot. ... My question is does it matter if you live in Florida and I'm on the west coast in Cali is there any difference in growing and taking care of St Augustin grass.....Or the same methods you been using can work for me .......
Thanks to you lawn care nut, my lawn was dominating this year! It actually dominated so much that all my neighbors started to care about their lawns.
I fired my lawn fertilizer services company when I discovered the LCN! my lawn has never looked better. Can't thank you enough!
I can honestly say that I am glad I watched it all as I didn't think that I would find it all interesting as I was never really good with numbers etc but I have surprised myself and actually really enjoyed this. Never apologize for long videos!! Great stuff BTW....
You are the best Fokker I have seen that does lawn care.
Wow in my opinion that was one of your best video ever by far the best lawn care video on UA-cam
Hi Allyn this is going to be a very interesting project! From what I understand, the extended roots from the acidic tree injects most of the acid into the soil. "Lawn Care Nvt" That's a "come on' man..." for Soil Savy LOL. Looks like a great product, can't wait to try! Thank you LCN!
I did this because of your recommendation, very pleased with the results/format.
Love it! You put a lot into this and it shows. Watching this makes me wanna dig down, sample, and nerd out with you. I'm looking forward to the future of your channel, the project lawn, and any awesome ideas I can steal for my own plot of grass! Awesome video this week. Love the longer, detailed editions. I have my 5 year old hooked too. "A new Lawn Care Nut video"!
Great video Allyn! I, for one, enjoy the longer more in depth videos. I'm in the process of rehabbing my Bermuda lawn and the information you provide is extremely helpful. Thanks!
By far one of the best and informative videos so far Allyn. Thank you so much!
Can not wait to see how this turns out.
Love the longer vid! Very informative, great details! Will be getting a soil test kit for the lawn rehab I started on the neighbors yard. Glad u got a sponsor and look forward to the next vid. Keep up the great work and stay safe out there on the road LCN

The Formula 1 style racecar and older Porsche in the garage was pretty sweet.
this was great Al! thank-you for the hard work you put into this production. don't worry about how long or detailed the videos are....we will watch because it's so long and detailed. great breakdown I'm ordering my kit now!
I'm really excited for this new series! Good idea Allyn!

Great informative video! I'm looking forward to this series.

i know im asking the wrong place but does anybody know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account..?
I stupidly forgot the account password. I love any assistance you can give me.
@Bishop Soren instablaster ;)
@Dorian Jeffrey I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm trying it out now.
I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Dorian Jeffrey It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thank you so much you really help me out!
Love what you do Allyn! Keep the LCN/Dominator comin...
Super excited to for the 2017 season. We just purchased a new new house and our lawn needs some work as well. So I am excited to follow along.
I started watching your vids last spring. You have helped me have a much better understanding of what is going on with the needs of the lawn, soil etc. Thanks for that. I am curious about the other race car in that guys garage!! You should do a quick segment on that! LOL!! That was cool! Looked like a mini Indy car

Great vid , lots of good info . It's going to be fun watching this project from start to finish. Congrats on the sponser
LCN, you have my full attention!

ready to get back there in mid-spring!
I would like to know more about lime. I don't know why I should put it down other than what you just said, but want more. You have never mentioned it before from what I have seen.
This is going to be awesome! You rock Hane
dude that's so cool you are able to do this!
Much thanks for all your video setup to make this very informative session. You have a talent to communicate your knowledge with other Lawn Care Almonds which reside below the Lawn Care Nut. ;-)
A-ma-zing! Very detailed video (love the chemistry ;)). Good job, Allyn!
Best video in a long time! Love the length! Really pumped to see you work with Centipede(my lawn type)!
Wow. just wow. That was a lot of info. Loved the video. great flow on this one.
Great video! Can't wait to see how this yard turns out. I can't wait to start on mine in the Spring here in Northeast Pennsylvania
No need to apologize for the detail-us true Nuts love it! Knowing the "why" is what gives me the confidence to share what I learn with others

Thanks LCN. I have a similar lawn in Columbia SC. I have a centipede and st Augustine. I look forward to the rehab!
BTW - re: the copper, I learned in a rose workshop this weekend that copper destroys rose bushes so they warned not to use copper fungicide on them. I don't know if there are other plants that have the same reaction.
Thank you for all the great information. I've been considering doing a soil test for a while now
Cant wait to see what happens with this and to follow along in the journey.
You can get a test in Florida from the state for 3 bucks. 7 for a detailed one.
It's about time you started to listen to me about the soil samples. You could of took front, side and back yard mixed the 3 together for one sample. Put them on the Jonathan Green lawn care program.
Do you test the bad spots only with such a small sample container ?
Ph change in clay-soil with lime (10ft2)
Ph6.0 to 6.5= 10oz of lime
Ph5.5 to 6.5= 18oz of lime
Ph5.0 to 6.5= 28oz of lime
Ph4.5 to 6.5= 45oz of lime
What about St Augustine PH at 3...
Can't wait to see the next project lawn!
Thanks for the information on the lime!! I just posted a question last week about it on one of your other videos. I ended up putting down about 7lbs/1000 of the quick lime. You sure are right about the inconsistency in granule size.
yeah being a natural product it can be ugly - good news is that you can't really "over do" it so you will be fine
Nice! Excited to see the results!
Excellent vid! I really look forward to watching them.
Keep it up please.
Kellogg has a tripple 5 lawn fert. But it might only be a west coast thing.
Wow that sunrise.... or sunset.... anyways, very beautiful
Love the detailed analysis! Look forward to following this journey. I recently bought an Earthway spreader. 2050p estate model. So far so good!
Again I've noticed the Dive Bar T-Shirt Club Shirt. Nice!
That's cool! I ordered my soil sample from Umass Amherst but that kit is pretty cool and more user friendly.
Or should I say analysis... Umass didn't give me my soil sample... Hah
wow your awesome dude! really have been inspired by your videos! beginner lawn nut!

you are the man! loving your videos! actually watched them on the beach in aruba lol
Do you have a update video of this property?
2 yrs ago I remember this lol before the torro sponsor and rgs lol
Great series! looking forward to it. Throw 'er down!!
OK, I'm jealous! I would have cigars, microbrews, and waterfront therapy here, but you go ahead and pick other people ;-)

How do I kill Grubs this late in the season up here in Worcester MA? My neighbors just saw 100's of birds on my lawn? Help me please LCN!

not that good thin spots

Another great video just keep them coming 👍👍
Oh this is going to be fun!
I need the link to the video that covered in detail how to figure out how much fertilizer to put down.
I ENJOYED THIS VIDEO
given the sticker that I just received, going to guess the sponsor begins with M and ends with ilorganite.
keep up the great videos.
thanks bro, but it's not Milo. They are great friends but they are non-profit - so they have no ad budget.
How often do you recommend testing soil?
Great Video! Nice Ring!!
any update on this familys lawn?
Awesome video and can't wait for the series! You outlined the fert and lime schedule, what about pre emergent and any necessary spring maintenance? Just wondering because the climate is very comparable to where I live.
Great Video, like the Church lawn project on steroids. Looking forward to watching.
How is this yard coming along?
