    Perfect timing with the video (as usual). My test looks great except I have almost no sulfur. I picked up some gypsum at Menards (pretty cheap). Hopefully that will bring it up some. I’m guessing it may take a few years to getting it close to normal range.

    I've been going the UK approach... It sucks, but I use way less chemicals on the yard if any.. Dethatcher rake before it starts growing and the Milo will generally kill the rest of the weeds since they hate nitrogen. Once the grass is fully grown the base will push out the remainder weeds

This Definitely helped to take me out of DefCon mode. Let me also say that the YM Support Team is Amazing!!! Bo took the time to help me further tweak my Lawn Program being that I have 2 grass types separated by the side walk leading up to my home. Left side is 21 year old NEGLECTED Bermuda & Right side is 21 year old NEGLECTED Bermuda being taken over by my neighbors St. Aug. Which I'm welcoming! The goal is to 'switch'🙄 over to All St. Aug since it's So Aggressive!! But BEAUTIFUL😍Thanks very Much for the LCN/YM Community!!💗💗

    To make things even simpler, just test your pH and get on a nitrogen-only plan. Most lawns will do just fine with only nitrogen. I mulch everything back into the lawn so that adds micros over time. Spreading compost can work wonders too, but that can be a lot of work.

    • @Thelawncarenut
      @Thelawncarenut  2 роки тому

      I would not want my water softener being used when I am irrigating. Most installers will separate those two things. It's a complete waste of the softening salt (costs money) but as far as what it would do to your soil I don't know.

      You could maybe put down a little lime but I don’t think you really wanna go above 7.0
      Lime will raise the pH.
      Most likely you might have tested the soil in different areas? I would probably just test again if less than 6.8, but put down a small amount of lime if greater I would ignore it

    On the nitrogen I wish some soil tests didn’t include it in the results, nitrogen is highly mobile within the soil which means it’s level is constantly changing it doesn’t tightly bond to the soil like P and K does. So when you take a soil test, by the time you get your results the nitrogen level has already changed, so the results are not important to analyze.

    I’m low on P K. It was recommended I use a starter feet. How long should I use it for?

    • @Thelawncarenut
      @Thelawncarenut  2 роки тому +1

      I'd hit it with starter now, then your next app use Freedom, then back to starter, etc. Just rotate ferts that fit your needs during the season.

    I love Flagship, it has done wonder for my Zoysia, but this is not an apples to apples comparison. There is nothing in the Scotts line of products that matches up with it. However Lesco 24-0-11 should have been used as a comp, it has macros.

      I'm happy to show it in the next video. Lowes here sells it for $69 for a 50lb bag. Someone seems to be getting rich from that product.

    See today's article in the Washington Post about Maine farms contaminated by using dried sewage sludge having high levels of PFAS from industrial users. Has Milorganite ever been tested for this?

    You should do a lawn contest for your bags of fert like milorganite does! Winners could be on one of the bags.

      You can buy high quality, made to be dissolved Potassium sulfate and Ammonium sulphate and make your own.
      A farm store can help or order them for you.

      Assuming you are trying to address N and K deficiencies like Allyn. Best to check pH first. Low pH (less than 6.0) will inhibit K availability. I understand your concern to correct deficiencies quickly. IMO there is no fast cure for deficiencies other than N, Fe, and other micronutrients. K is a stable and cumulative nutrient in the soil. IMO K deficiency is better addressed via regular granular applications and if needed correcting pH levels. IF your K deficiencies are visible (likely older leaves showing interveinal yellowing, rolling, and burning of the leaf tip, eventually forming necrotic spots on leaf margins) then a foliar application can be beneficial as K can be foliar absorbed. But you will likely have to purchase liquid K separately (which is readily available).

    • @Thelawncarenut

      @@rickfriedrich528 it's actually cheaper to go water soluble. Keep in mind, my ferts have only been on the market for 1 year as of now. Reformulations take a little time. My critics think I'm evil but really the speed of business just doesn't move as fast as they think it should.
