As a PRIDE fan since early 2000, Rampage confirmed after the fight that his rib got broken by Shogun during the fight. At 1:25 - 1:33, one of Shogun's thai clinch knees breaks Rampage's rib. At 2:06, you can see Rampage look at his left rib. At 3:51, Rampage is covering his left rib from getting kneed. At 4:32, Rampage tells his team/corner that his rib is broken. At 5:20, Rampage tells the referee about his broken rib.
I had a slightly fractured rib from a fall and even with adrenaline flowing it hurt tremendously to move even slightly. For Rampage to continue with a broken rib in that fight is super impressive. A true warrior.
Shogun is a King 👑. Who destroys Rampage Jackson like that in his prime in what???…Less than 10 minutes? Good Lord. That was a ASSASSINATION. Another King destroyed in his court infront of the world. Shogun was an absolute beast in Pride. So much stronger and more explosive. He must've been taking some good PEDs. Jackson on the other hand looks and fights the same. Probably one of the few fighters who didn't 'juice' in Pride.
False narrative. Rampage DID change the way he fights. He went from a guy who used to be grapple heavy to a guy who fell in love with his hands. It's a tale as old as the first wrestler that got the KO bug. Then all of a sudden, he got tired of facing grapplers. As for Shogun, him no longer being strong and explosive probably has a lot to do with the knee surgeries he's had for having a knee/kick heavy game.
@@dreamsofcosmicoceans8105 You didn't watch Shogun's first fight in the UFC? He was only 28 years in his first fight there. He completely gassed and zero explosivness whatsoever. He literally had to rely on his heavy hands and nothing. Both Mark Coleman (42 year old at that time) and Forest Griffin tired him out.🤦♂️
@@dreamsofcosmicoceans8105 In Pride, he had wars against Silva, Liddell 1, Randleman, and no, he was not grapple heavy. He relied a lot on his left hook and overhand right. Watch his fights. He fought against grapplers and thus he had to adjust to the ground, e.g when he fought Sakuraba and Arona. And in Pride, grappling was more accepted than UFC and so he grappled more but he was without a doubt a striker as well.
@@amaurileiteferreirajunior8237 Sim, sim, amigo.
I have broken ribs now. I can't imagine fighting with that ha ha. Ouch.
Thank you
Gracias por la info bro/ thanks for the info bro..i just saw shogun that shogun used muay thai knee then destroyed to rampage
I had a slightly fractured rib from a fall and even with adrenaline flowing it hurt tremendously to move even slightly. For Rampage to continue with a broken rib in that fight is super impressive. A true warrior.
I rewatched all rampages fights and I was shocked at what a front runner he is. He gets discouraged very easily.
Too Bad that that wasn't the same Shogun that fought Jon Jones in the UFC....
Cause that would've
been a Hell of a Fight!
Shogun in his prime one of the greatest LHWs ever
A galera tende a romancear demais as coisas.
Good ol days of mma… I go back to UFC 1 days and even these old fights are still great to watch 😎
He so strong he eat those kicks for breakfast, respect rampage jackson
❤hands down my favorite era in mma. And Pride was by far my favorite organization.
Shogun is a King 👑. Who destroys Rampage Jackson like that in his prime in what???…Less than 10 minutes? Good Lord. That was a ASSASSINATION. Another King destroyed in his court infront of the world. Beautiful. Especially when you include what both men achieved after this fight. A incredible time for MMA.
he got lucky by breaking his rib right away, relax.
“Got lucky” no such thing. He broke his ribs with his own knees that he threw at the right time. Give the guy his credit.
@@seethemore6360 Okay, so if it was some amazing skill, how come he never did it in any other fight? Lol, give it a rest. He got lucky.
@@1211-n4d lol so your logic is because he never hit this exact move in other fights that must mean he got lucky?
@@seethemore6360 Yeah, he broke this guy's rib right away with a lucky shot and wasn't able to replicate it in other fights. If it's part of his gameplay and he does it consistently, why didn't he do it in other fights against other opponents?
This has to be one of the greatest most dominant beatdowns I have ever seen.
Prime shogun is a beast, I wish he would've fought in the UFC during his prime.
He was only 23 years old here. It definitely wasn't his prime yet. You just think it was his prime because he went on quite a run in Pride. When this fight took place he was only a year and half removed from losing to Babalu. He definitely hit his prime while in the UFC. However, Pride rules were advantageous to his style of fighting.
Jones made him look like an amateur
@@jesses5463 he already had multiple knee surgeries by the time he got to the UFC so he wasn't in his prime. PRIDE Shogun was the closest to his physical prime that we saw.
@@maythefuhrerofunderstandin9624 Knee surgeries don't necessarily prevent one from reaching their prime in MMA, but under your theory that would simply mean he never competed at his prime.
@@jesses5463 in his case it definitely did though. He was never the same fighter and yes, we never got to see Shogun reach his full potential in MMA, it was tragic.
If I remember correctly, I believe Rampage turned down a rematch with Shogun, and even cited Shogun as the one guy he didn't want to fight again. Sometimes you just get beat so bad, you'd rather forget about it and try to put it behind you.
O Shogun era selvagem!!
Nesse tempo Maurício Ruas era brabo demais.
Agora ele é bonzinho?
Best MMA era
When I started watching MMA Shogun Rua was definitely my favorite fighter his fights with Machida n his run in pride was amazing injuries definitely took a lot from him
this hurt to watch rampage get dominated right from the start. he showed extreme toughness but shogun was relentless and determined.
That's exactly what, Quinton Jackson meant when he told, Jonathon Jones that he beat an old Shogun.
Definitely, a era of fighting made of tough durable men!
This tournament was stacked with so many killers. Rampage, Wanderlei, Igor Vochanchyn, Vitor, Hendo, Overeem…but it was Ninja Rua’s little bro that ripped through the competition and became an MMA legend.
Impressionante!!! Rampage nem viu o shogun na luta! Shogun destruiu o rampage! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Thanks ufc fight pass
This was probably the best Shogun’s fight ever.
goddam fights in these times where crazy, kicks to the head when the guy is down and everything haha
yeah.. exactly how mma should be
I miss this era of MMA.
Wandy actually showed Mauricio how to use the clinch and knees against rampage. Wanderlei destroyed him with those knees
I know Wandy and Shogun sparred hard together but if they actually did had to compete against each other it would’ve been interesting to watch
@@PaizuriKing_ I can only imagine what those old school shootabox sparring sessions went.
@@PaizuriKing_ ua-cam.com/video/Pzpbofdxk0E/v-deo.html Check this out. I has behind the scenes footage from that tourny and fedor v crocop. those days were the best.
Rampage is an interesting fighter. You can tell he has a wealth of tools but always seemed to turn into a one dimensional fighter.
Esto si era MMA.
This fight lasted way longer than it should've had.
Wish we would’ve got the rematch in the UFC
People who haven’t seen this Shogun fight don’t realize that by the time he made it to the uff he was already a very physically diminished fighter.
What a beatdown
Golden era of MMA
5:14 back in my 20s that was the look i had on my face every weekend by last call, you know right after puking...same dazed look in my eyes and everything.
The referee carrying his lunch box 🥪 🍱 on his back 😂😂👍👍
Intensidade, agressividade, e gás perfeito do Shogun foi devastador!
@ligaoeste101disse bem .. ANOS depois. Aí ele tava no auge
@ligaoeste101 prego pq ?
So just because a non black athlete won you have to accuse him of being on peds?
@@Celticsaint777 Why does this have to be about race? My favorite fighter was Fedor and he white. You race baiter. 👺
The best days of mma full stop
Shogun era cabuloso!
This was a massive tsunami of knee strikes. Absolutely aggressive.
Saudades do Pride
1:32.... The second knee was the one that broke it.... Rampage was done after that. Anyone who's ever broken a rib knows that continuing any type of strenuous activity (especially fighting) is not going to happen. Got to give Rampage props for not throwing in the towel and continuing, knowing a KO was inevitable.
Seeing a cocky and arrogant bully like Rampage get destroyed is beautiful. Shogun took his soul.
0:37 Wtf was that back of the head hit?
After Jones, Shogun is the 2nd greatest lightheavyweight of all time
Chuck Liddell
Daniel cormier
Literally isn’t even in the top 20 of all time let alone the top 3..you have no idea how much the sport has evolved , because you have no background in the sport . Shogun in his prime would get absolutely rag dolled by anybody in the top 15 right now .
@@vinceventura4453 what an idiotic statement lol that’s like saying Ali is not GOATED due to the evolution of boxing…..please tell enlighten us on the correct top 5
Pura verdade.
nessa epoca as luta eram praticamente briga de rua no octogono hoje em dia émais profissional a coisa os cara te levam pro chao e acaba a luta
Que massacre! Shogun era um monstro!!
I tell you what, 2005-2006 was the best era for MMA hands down!
These lot wouldn't stand a chance against a pro boxer period
Shogun never looked as good as this in the ufc
Rampage.. foi amassado com força!!
Beating rampage, overeem and nogueira… Man… Shogun was the only man who has same tier with Fedor Emelianenko in Pride Era.
Total domination by Rua.
