UFC 135: Jones vs. Rampage was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on September 24, 2011, at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.
Jon Jones was expected to make his first title defense on August 6, 2011, at UFC 133 against Rashad Evans, but Jones was sidelined with a hand injury. It was initially announced that the hand injury would require surgery, but Jones opted for rest and rehabilitation without surgery after further consultations with doctors. Jones' injury was originally thought to keep him out of action until late 2011, but instead, he made his first title defense against Quinton Jackson at this event.
In his first successful title defense, Jones defeated a Rampage who was in the best condition, physically and mentally, that he has been in for a long time.
Right away, Jones seemed intent on preemptively erasing any asterisks. He stood toe to toe with Jackson and used his staggering 11.5-inch reach advantage to inflict damage while keeping Rampage from finding his range. He put on a well-rounded and sustained effort that lasted into the championship rounds.
It will be hard for even the most psychologically challenged Jones detractors to find a way to downgrade this effort.
He showcased that he is a learning computer. It was clear from the outset that Jones knew Jackson's weaknesses and would exploit them. The clearest cases in point were the leg kicks he threw repeatedly in an amped-up version of the same game plan Forrest Griffin used to defeat Rampage in 2008.
Jones threw leg kicks from the inside, outside, and straight on, even appearing to hyperextend Jackson's knee on one or two occasions. He also stayed clear of Jackson's punching power by using the aforementioned reach and taking the fight to the ground at strategic moments, including on the occasion that led to the tapout. - Розваги
The reason Jones went into the fight on all fours was because he kept having a nightmare every night leading up to the fight that he walked in and got knocked out, no matter what he did he couldn’t stop getting knocked out by Rampage, so he decided to go in on all fours to instantly break away from his dream. It then became his thing and does it before most fights
Yep
I thought he learned that from rashad evans? Rashad evans did this first bro. Look up his fights.he fought way before jon jones
@@rogerdominguez3691 Rashad did a prefight routine on all fours, but he didn’t actually go into the fight on all fours, using it as a fighting posture to attack from.

This Version of Jon would go undefeated in any generation in my opinion. He was so diverse with his striking rampage didn’t know what to defend
Exactly that. He had so much to throw it was impossible to tell what he would do next.
I think it would be same outcome but a much better fight if it happened sooner, rampage was already heading out the door of ufc and jones was a little past the prime mark, but still a good performance, glad he didnt eyepoke

I recall watching Jon Jones fight before. I find it some of the most crowd pleasing moves. He throws out unpredictable moves, risky moves even, just to have a chance to win and that's what sets him apart. One of my favorite fighters. This was the best rampage ever looked from a technical standpoint imo. When I saw what jones did to him i knew jones was truly special. Frightening.
Two of my all time favorites. Bones simply took Rampage apart. Those "little legs" chopped him to pieces, and that oblique kick is deadly. Bones’ speed was off the charts, especially when he slipped or missed, he right back on top.
those legs have notimg to do ,they go fast headkik like any bone ,its lil bit unusual but its hard to kick his legs when he kicks yo knees in ligaments just timed ...and santos was blew on knees he just times a precision strike on vital.moving joints to...pick apart. hard to pick apart picker

They should make an exception to the rule of grounded opponents when its like this, where they willingly go to the ground themselves. Its gaming the system based on a rule that is meant to protect fighters. Either allow kicks/stomps if the fighter is obviously grounding themselves on purpose, or have the refs force them to stand up.
I was at this fight in Colorado! Looking back you can tell Jon Jon figured this was going to be an easy fight in the early rounds because of how Rampage was responding to his strikes.
