In the late 1970s I was a mechanic at a shop that had many customers with cool cars. One of them had a Jensen with a 440 and a Torque Flight trans. This car had very low miles and zero rust. I performed a tune up on it and part of the procedure was to remove the distributor and modify the advance curve. This improved performance that you could feel. I test drove it and "feel in love with it". What a great car!
I had just received my drivers license in ‘’76 and was driving around Detroit when one of these pulled next to me at a stop light. I was instantly enchanted. I owned the "basic" 6.3 and sold it to finance my business . Less said about that the better !😨😨 And l repainted an FF in the early '90's . The colour was "Cassis" upon further investigation it was actually Ford Aubergine ! Nonetheless it was a lovely colour. A few years back l was at a show and spotted a very nice Interceptor. "Oh yes that rings a bell " l believe that a same car is for sale at £350,000 Yes , the Interceptor is , and always will be one of my all time favourites ! Thanks Harry.
I wonder if it was John Bonham's that I saw going down Bromsgrove high street way back around 1972, he lived a few miles from Bromsrove. Love at first sight. Beautiful car.

In 1972, me and a car-mad school mate spotted a brand new Interceptor parked up at Benson, Oxfordshire. It was also finished in Aubergine and looked absolutely fantastic. We waited an age for the owner to come back and drive off - which he did with some gusto....I'll never forget the sight and sound of that car. Heaven.
Interceptor - the coolest name of any car, ever. What a stunning machine, now right at the top of my lottery-win shopping list. Just need to win now... Thanks Harry, excellent video
Fantastic review, thank you Harry. My Uncle briefly had a standard Jensen Interceptor and took me to Biggin Hill in 1979 - I have never forgotten that one car journey and you’ve just rekindled the memory in spades.
That took me right back to working in Oldbury, we used a cafe near Kelvin Way (then the jensen works) and the test drivers used to pull upoutside in these gorgeous cars then come in the cafe for a bacon butty. I was allowed to sit in a few and simply loved them. Sadly the drivers never took my Lambretta in part x. Loved the Interceptor ever since. Great vlog H and what a beast that car is.
Bloody brilliant. In some ways it reminds me of the later Bristols Fighters, with the silly horsepowers on them. That would make quite the video as well.
Harry... Lord November is absolutely spot on... the Bristol Fighter is an incredible car and an astonishing achievement from such a tiny company... it deserves a wider audience and you'd certainly do it justice... if you can find one!
I used to have a book about interesting cars and the Bristol Fighter and Fighter T were in it. Still have it somewhere. Properly interesting cars but very niche. If I remember right they managed to get some mad hp figures out of them. There was one for sale on Ebay not very long ago
Friend of the family gave me a ride in his when it was new. What an indelible memory that is! His had a secret button to open the rear window. He wouldn't reveal the secret. Such a simple, clean and striking design. Interesting to compare a modern sports car with this classic design. No skirts, wings or flaps but if it came up behind you the urge to get out of it's way would be great! Father of a school friend had a couple of the earlier CV8s. He had been paralysed in a bad accident at Prescott but undaunted had hand controls fitted. To get kick down he would grab a walking stick and give the throttle a good jab. That large car would "lift it's skirts" and fly! Thank you Harry for all the excellent videos keep them coming!
This was my Grandfathers dream car. He passed away in 1999 at a ripe 88 years old and I always said one day I’ll get one for him. I’m 37 now but the dream hasn’t died yet :)
What a beautiful, aggresive looking British sport-tourer.Always loved the look of them. With the new powertrain,it definitely deserves to be re-badged the 'Jensen F-Off'
One of my favourite cars of all time - impossible to tell its age by looking at it. Even the standard version had a lot of power that needed careful handling, though. I saw one long ago on an icy morning in a field, facing the wrong way beside the Queensferry Road just outside Edinburgh.
as a youngster i watched through the window at the works at kelvin way West Bromwich my love for the Jensen name grew. I was very lucky in the late 90`s to own one. It was Ferrari red with a black vinyl roof. cream interior and i had many happy hours driving it. i had started to restore it when to my horror found out someone had stolen it from a garage i was renting. I will never be able to get another one now but i always wondered what happened to it. Happy days.
I had the joy of driving an FF and SP back in the mid-late 70s. The SP was somewhat ragged around the edges, but the FF was a real beast let down by the Torquflite(sp) gearbox.
I had a very wealthy auntie who had the interceptor mk 2 it was blue met white leather, she use to let my brothers drive it up the drive, I could never reach pedals, but the engine would rore, riding in the Jensen is one if my fond childhood memory. Thank you this refit is stunning....
My friend at schools Dad had one that he fully restored in the early 90s, and we went down from Leeds to the Classic Motor show at the NEC in it, in 1992. The attention it got that day was amazing. A Canadian guy in the carpark even offered him silly amounts of money to buy it there and then, which he politely refused. Hope he still has it, it was beautiful...
I owned a Scimitar 3.0 V6. SE6a. 77 on an R in Blue. It sounded amazing for a V6, it had a rough edge sound to it. Handled like a pig with 3 legs but oh my, the sound....hhhhmmmnnn.
@Big Cop I owned a Morris Marina 1300 Deluxe in blue. Amazing mpg, loads of room inside. Great car to own for a family, never the best handling for the boy racers in the 70's. I would still have one. Triumph 1500TC much better car.
It is JENSEN not Jensen. Pay attention to detail = It is clearly displayed on the badge and on the C-Pillar When you look at things be sure to see what you are actually looking at. Pay attention to detail - Zombies have eyes but cannot see - Ears and cannot hear. STOP being a zombie - snap out of it - you have been brainwashed long enough.
Hi Harry from another Metcalfe I was a mechanic back in the day I worked for a Jensen dealership, absolutely loved working on and driving the car That FF is some machine I’d still go for the original though for all it’s faults That’s nostalgia for you Happy memories of a time of no electronics and gizmos I suspect I’m an old Luddite All the best Alan
Wow, love that rear end with crazy curved glass. And whole car is just WOW. Nothing compares to V8 engine rumble, it's like a beast. I like V12 sound but sometimes too "sporty" for me.
If the original Jensen was Supersonic Velvet, then this one is an Iron Fist in a Titanium Glove. And it's absolutely glorious. I absolutely adore it ❤️
How do you give ANY of Harry’s videos a thumbs down? Love the old Jensens and with an American supercharged V8? Ace car Harry and another outstanding review.
As a 14 year old I used to see quite a few Jensen FF cars around my home town and just loved them. In 1969, £7705 would have bought a really tasty detached house, whereas £332 000 would only buy a reasonable semi - detached house today.
OMG.... That is simply stunning....the external colour compliments the internal colour....the sound of that engine compliments the whole car... I would buy that in a heart beat if I had the money....absolutely brilliant 👏👏👏
Great video Harry :) The Jensen interceptor is one of my all time favourites, but that car is a Beast G wizzzzz. I always loved the front and rear end (window) of this car. Maybe that's why my first American car was a 71 Buick riviera (boat tail) that had a fantastic rear window, but handled like a boat in the corners without oars. Nothing like the original Jensen handled or that Beast. But the Riviera rear had great curves........just how i like em :)
I worked in a petrol station as a 15 year old during the summer hols around 1975. I filled up an orange Interceptor and was asked to check the oil; I’ll never forget putting my hand into that furnace to get to the dipstick; those engines ran hot and I’m pleased to say I sustained no serious burns just a few very nervous moments!
Harry's reaction to the uprated Jensen FF today, were similar to mine, when a friend took me out for a blast in his original in 1974. There were moments in this video that actually looked scary!
Love the Jensen FF and this restomod is a boxer in a Armani suit. I'm in New Jersey and this 6.2 V8 in normally aspirated trim powers many Chevrolet/GMC 3/4 ton work trucks. When you get on the throttle that's when we work truck owners notice that same grunt how awsome.
The sound is amazing, most definitely better through headphones. What is it about the sound of a V8 that just does it for the ears. Lovely looking car, never seen Harry smile so much in any car. Keep it up, I enjoy every vid. Gee.
Beautifully executed and love that they haven't tried to modernise the exterior - but from that review, it seems that aggressive power unit does not suit the car. I nearly bought one not too long ago, and I remember it being a big, lazy, rumbling old beast. Most of all, it was laid back. This is not any of those.
I understand what you mean, I have a powerful large displacement motorcycle (Yamaha FJR1300), plenty of smooth power that whooshes you along rather than a hooligan bike.
I bought a 73 Jensen 21 years ago, modified it. Put it in a sea container, and there it sits. Awaiting the day I sell for a profit. Trouble is, I paid 10k for the car, spent a further 20k on it and until recently I’m not sure It would go for much more, but this is exciting and encouraging .. thanks for the vid.

Seeing you put the Jenson into manual pressing the accelerator to unleash power that had you grappling with the steering wheel visibly shocked, mildly disorientated, calling on all your supercar experience to make sense of the humongous beastly delivery pushing to a short-lengthed horizon was priceless and forgive me had me bellowing with laughter as your comments thereafter clearly denoted a sense of relief and suggestions how refinements might be integrated into this otherwise pleasant to look at package added further entertainment. You're a gentleman and probably the best automotive reviewer on UA-cam.
Remember seeing one at the motor show in 1970 and instantly falling in love. Gorgeous.
60s British design with American muscle. What a perfect combination.
Haha - the P51 Mustang was the opposite way around (and still great ;)

I owned the "basic" 6.3 and sold it to finance my business . Less said about that the better !😨😨 And l repainted an FF in the early '90's . The colour was "Cassis" upon further investigation it was actually Ford Aubergine ! Nonetheless it was a lovely colour. A few years back l was at a show and spotted a very nice Interceptor. I asked the owner about the car and he had just bought it and said some drummer once owned it . I told him it was probably John Bonham .
It is actually on Ebay for £148,000
@@maxnex7676 Thanks Max. Well , l was only £200K adrift ! What niggled me at the time was this guy had no idea who John was but a couple of years later at the same show he was giving it jibber jabber about the famous owner !
Heaven.
Absolutely amazing! What a machine. Beautifully finished and detailed.
Thanks so much for sharing the love.
Interceptor - the coolest name of any car, ever. What a stunning machine, now right at the top of my lottery-win shopping list. Just need to win now... Thanks Harry, excellent video
This car was in Top Trumps i had as a kid, 40 years later i still want one.
"Top Trumps", steady on now.
@@984francis yeah, i was pretty wild.
I love the way Harry describes the car as having “a bit of a drink problem “. Lol
the original ones, yes.
c'mon guys if your are hauling 2 ton of metal around with a 7 litre engine what do you expect?
He was not exactly sparing the horses . I think single figures only for that test period. For sure.
Made me laugh too, cos that’s how I describe my car to other people.
I tell them that it’s a member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
In my opinion this is the best looking car ever built and this has to be the best version ever. Simply gorgeous! 😍
Silly looking back window. Gigantic wheel overhangs odd look
@@allensaunders449 hehe
Fantastic review, thank you Harry. My Uncle briefly had a standard Jensen Interceptor and took me to Biggin Hill in 1979 - I have never forgotten that one car journey and you’ve just rekindled the memory in spades.
"...But my traction control goes to 11." - Nigel Tufnel
Why not make the 10 more controlled and have that as the highest setting?
@@jonasthemovie because Spinal Tap
@@Anders_HeymSR30 The correct answer is a blank stare and then "But this one goes to 11"
lol , glad i'm not the only person who thought Spinal Tap
I think it shows the people behind this awesome car have a sense of humour.
I don’t remember seeing you laugh as often and enjoy a car this much for some time! Get one Harry!
Harry, looking good in your MilkTray Man outfit, well suited to the Interceptor!
I was slightly disappointed he didn't wear his white perforated leather driving gloves too, this car would have been perfect for them!
He’s had that jumper for 20yrs!
That was a blast from the past!
That engine note is simply glorious! This has to be in my fantasy Euromillions garage! :-)
Coolest name for a car PERIOD! Damn fine looking car too
That took me right back to working in Oldbury, we used a cafe near Kelvin Way (then the jensen works) and the test drivers used to pull upoutside in these gorgeous cars then come in the cafe for a bacon butty. I was allowed to sit in a few and simply loved them. Sadly the drivers never took my Lambretta in part x.
Loved the Interceptor ever since. Great vlog H and what a beast that car is.
My god I never realised they were built in Oldbury!
@@matty6848 Sorry for the correction, Jenson's were built in Kelvin Way, West Bromwich.
Not very often i comment on someone's name, but yours is excellent.
The aero Bristol Centaurus radial was 50 odd litres. Big lump and well over 2000 HP.
With the new powertrain,it definitely deserves to be re-badged the 'Jensen F-Off'
Excellent!
In true Yankee style lol 😆
@@chrisvig123 Yeah, when it comes to raw power V-8s, i think America has it pretty much sewn-up
Looks cool as hell.
nice tea bag
Yes like 1978 Cutlass cool. Not cool cool.
I remember as a child seeing one every morning going to school. JED 1 E the registration was. Motoring perfection.
J D memory might be playing tricks with me, was this in South East London? There was a Jensen in the neighbourhood with a similar plate.
@@arthurdardalis it wasn’t. But I suppose there’s no reason it couldn’t be the same car. Petrol would have been about 30p a gallon at the time !!
One of my favourite cars of all time - impossible to tell its age by looking at it. Even the standard version had a lot of power that needed careful handling, though. I saw one long ago on an icy morning in a field, facing the wrong way beside the Queensferry Road just outside Edinburgh.
It looks exactly like a 60/70s car...
No offence. But it’s one of the most stereotypical 60/70 cars…
as a youngster i watched through the window at the works at kelvin way West Bromwich my love for the Jensen name grew. Happy days.
That’s tragic. A vehicle ,yes but ouch.
Love it, the best of both worlds, new engine and brakes, classic looks, one day someone will do a triumph stag and all will be well with the world.
I had the joy of driving an FF and SP back in the mid-late 70s. The SP was somewhat ragged around the edges, but the FF was a real beast let down by the Torquflite(sp) gearbox.
The Jensen Interceptor was amazing to start with but this is next level
Jensen Interceptor, Daimler Double Six, Triumph Stag, Reliant Scimitar, TVR Sagaris...can we have proper car names back, please?
So what's wrong with Charisma or Roomster?
@@faustusTVR Worse still, it was actually spelt 'Carisma'.
@@robertcook2572 oof!
I wondered who came flying past flat out in a Jensen. Made my day. 😂
It is JENSEN not Jensen.
Pay attention to detail = It is clearly displayed on the badge
and on the C-Pillar
When you look at things be sure to see what you are actually looking at.
Pay attention to detail -

Have you taken your medication today?
I’m amused that half way through UA-cam gave me an ad for a Nissan Leaf..some contrast 😂
I got an ad for boxer shorts. Perhaps needed if one sticks one’s foot in it.
Dave, I got an ad featuring an Audi, so that's bit closer. Have to say the conversion has kept true to the original concept
Leaf meaf pleaf schmeaf. Whatever!
Hi Harry from another Metcalfe
I was a mechanic back in the day
I worked for a Jensen dealership, absolutely loved working on and driving the car
That FF is some machine
I’d still go for the original though for all it’s faults
That’s nostalgia for you Happy memories of a time of no electronics and gizmos
I suspect I’m an old Luddite
All the best

I think this is my favourite car Harry has ever featured, and when you consider what he's featured before - that's really saying something!!
True information about Jensen Motors: ua-cam.com/video/uKxW8fC2usg/v-deo.html
Possibly the most beautiful car ever made .
But lacks integrity.
Oh dear god I want one! Can’t afford one, sadly. That’s truly magnificent, one of the best looking cars ever made modernized.
Wow, love that rear end with crazy curved glass. And whole car is just WOW.
Nothing compares to V8 engine rumble, it's like a beast. I like V12 sound but sometimes too "sporty" for me.
Love Harry’s reaction after stabbing the throttle the first couple times. Just great.
A definite case of having your cake AND eating it! Stunning piece of automotive art. Another engaging review from Harry.
If the original Jensen was Supersonic Velvet, then this one is an Iron Fist in a Titanium Glove. And it's absolutely glorious. I absolutely adore it ❤️
Astonishing car and just love the associated comments here. Insightful, astute and often amusing....from those who know a thing or two!
All us old school car guys are just big kids at heart. We never really grew up!
Dam right sir😂
Harry Ferguson was a genius Engineer 👌🏻😎
Indeed ...FF = Ferguson Formula. if i recall
Gorgeous Jensen. Have they had a revival of sorts then? What a wonderful car the Jensen Interceptor. Absolutely stylish.
Just as stunning now as it was back then. That rear window is great. Leno has an episode with an Interceptor. Doesn't look out of place there Harry!
A real gentleman’s express, brought right up today....always loved the look, amazing.
Rostyle wheels have stood the test of time pretty well. Dinky did an expensive model FF back in the day.
Back to the kind of content that makes me click immediately. Moderns are alright but there’s nothing like a classic or restomod.
That smile when you lay on the throttle 😁😁😁. That smile says it all.
Fabulous, used to have our eyes on stalks if we ever saw one back in the day.
Harry's reaction to the uprated Jensen FF today, were similar to mine, when a friend took me out for a blast in his original in 1974. There were moments in this video that actually looked scary!
“Mr Bond we were expecting you...” to turn up in one of these !
Yes! I see it as Roger Moore rather than Sean Connery.
😂😂
Love the Jensen FF and this restomod is a boxer in a Armani suit. I'm in New Jersey and this 6.2 V8 in normally aspirated trim powers many Chevrolet/GMC 3/4 ton work trucks. When you get on the throttle that's when we work truck owners notice that same grunt how awsome.
The sound is amazing, most definitely better through headphones. What is it about the sound of a V8 that just does it for the ears. Lovely looking car, never seen Harry smile so much in any car. Keep it up, I enjoy every vid. Gee.
Haven't seen Harry so animated in quite a while!
Great to see someone enjoying work like this , bravo .
Used to ride my pushbike past the factory in Westbromwich as a kid trying to get a look at these beauties..
10 seconds in and that Jensen sounds superb
