None of the games shown in this video came from overseas. I will bet money they all have a ntsc code and a esrb label. They were all exchanged hands and still sold within U.S. even you bought them still in the U.S. the fear mongering is getting very old and its immature. Its seems like every other video you make contradicts the last. Maybe too much game content lately.
Agreed unless you are sitting on 10k plus that is all fire easy to move titles but lets be fair party city going out of business is not doing anything to retro collecting i cant even say the last time i saw a functioning party city i lived in different states big cities and small towns they haven’t really been a thing for the better part of a decade.
As a PS3 collector with over 450 games, I respect your PS3 collection. You have a ton of expensive rare or very good games many of which I don’t have. For a collection that size you’ve really picked good ones. Well done.
You could, but it makes more sense to sell high and rebuy low than to just buy low. For example, lets say you have 10k worth of games, you can resell it now and have say 8k in the bank after everything is said and done, and then rebuy it all when it drops down to 5k, netting you an extra 3k you can spend on other games (bringing your new game "networth" to 8k) If you instead keep all of what you have and just buy more, you'd only be at 5k...so you're down 3 grand by doing nothing
@@TachibanaTengokuthis is purely speculative. Where are the games going to be bought ? If you buy on eBay the prices can be higher than market value price anyway, if you buy in person then you don’t know when you may ever even run into these sold off games especially if they are more rare or sought after. I still see it as not making sense in any regard. If you want to sell off your games for non emergency reasons you clearly don’t even care for those games in your collection so why look to re buy them?
Collecting is a hobby that we all enjoy and are lucky enough to be able to do. But, family is 1000% priority over everything else. I've been collecting since I was a little kid in the 80/90's. I only want games in my collection that mean something to me. But, if God forbid my family had a crisis, you better damn well believe that I'd sell every single game in my collection to make sure they were safe and taken care of.
Major store closures like Party City, are a constant reminder of how blessed it is to have job security. As much as I don't like my job a lot of times, I'm glad to have one. I just hope and pray I can stick with it long enough to retire and keep my benefits. It's gettin' wilder the longer I stay. It's important to save (if you can) as well, so you want have to resort to immediately selling the game collection.
To be honest, this will increase in the upcoming years because many business models are becoming obsolete. Many more unemployed is coming, especially if the business is non-essential. Retro market will be interesting because how long will the nostalgia customers last? The next gen has been too conditioned to the free 2 plays and mainstream games like COD, Fortnite, Roblox and sports titles.
In my opinion, stores like party city and big lots are really stores from a dying era. There is really very little reason to even buy from big lots. Party city on the other hand just has too much competition with stores like Walmart and Amazon. I think a true litmus test for the economy for identity spending like collectables is Starbucks or Apple. It seems like our country is beginning to step a bit away from consumerism and has less money to use on unnecessary items like 1 time use party decorations. The fantastic thing about collectables is that they have a limited supply and solid demand over time. This is why they will maintain some sort of financial value. They also provide entertainment for many hours which is worth its cost. I used to collect every game for whatever systems I was investing in, but now i realized it is better to focus on the top 200 or less of any given system to save on space and get a better ROI. Always do and believe in what you love. The financial aspect is a secondary reaction to that.
It's hard for them because all the items they will buy in 2025 will double due to tariffs on their items as everything they buy is from overseas. Plus you can order everything online too.
you know the same tariffs that trump had in his first term didnt affect game prices and he will bring back the same tariffs he had before. so stop doing all this FOMO bs and cry about something more important.
@ there was a discussion of tariffs on video games and hardware but it didn’t happen because lobbyists from different game companies delayed them and they didn’t happen because they argued about job losses back in 2019. You can even use Chatgpt if you don’t believe me.
Im not getting rid of anything from my collection. If anything, now is a perfect time to buy games from desperate people to enhance my own collection. During the pandemic, i bought land (asset) in my wife's country (in Africa) and almost done finishing my dream house. What am i suppose to do for fun if my game systems and collection becomes a lot less? I plan all my purchases weeks in advance, whereby it does not affect my monthly bills.... I limit my spending on food and everything else too (no social events, bars or clubs at all while in America). So to me I've cut alot of wasteful spending, and considering how hyperinflation will not be going anywhere, anytime soon, the only time i get to enjoy myself is when im NOT in America, land of the over taxed, home of the grind. 😂
I love collecting physical games but my problem is space so I have to tread lightly with what I pickup nowadays.. thanks for the discussion Y2K. Happy holidays bro

I think that you are being hyperbolic about this a minimum wage job we are talking about a few party city locations even left even if it turns out to be 5k unemployed we are 350 million in us i do have compassion for those ppl but that’s not gonna tank a whole hobby now interest in retro games is definitely down just dont think its going to collapse over party city going out of business probably shouldn’t be giving financial advise tbh stick to games.
I'll say this much. I've been a reseller of everything from firearms, precious metals, video games, sport/nonsport cards, etc for about ten years now. The past couple of years? Business has been slow, sales absolutely tanking. The night Trump was elected? My sales have skyrocketed. Take with it whatever you want but that's the reality of what I'm dealing with. I pray that is a good sign of things to come as his first presidency went fantastic with the economy until COVID hit of course.
People became hopeful. Hopefully that leads to sustainability. At the end of the day, no matter where you fall, you just want the best possible scenario for yourself, your family, and your fellow man.
That's right sell your saga Saturn stuff now! I'm liquidating my collection before it's too late!! Anyone needs help selling their stuff just hit me up.
I used to do quick flips with the stock market with party city till last year when I forgot to sell it off like I used to right after Halloween. I figured I would wait until after Christmas( Bad idea) which lost a bit of money. How much it tanked I knew they were going to close I was surprised they lasted this long. I thew all the funds from PRTY into RKLB which wasn’t much, but that stock was around $3 last yr it’s around $25 right now. Flipping stocks not mediocre games 🤷🏼♂️

@ I did that snes, PlayStation 1 and all my comic books too. I have never made money selling videogames or comics and I’m proud of that too.
