    i buy some new releases. Some games are exclusive to Amazon, Lunar remaster is going to be one. Also, they are worth considering at least. I always price check. It's not often but sometimes i find a better deal on ps4 and ps5 games on Amazon.

    I'd recommend a steam deck since it's more versatile than just an emulation handheld.

    Amazon used to be better for buying some games. I got a lot of my best deals off Amazon believe it or not. I got a lot of brand new PS1 games, circa 2012-2016, for dirt cheap, including "Shadow Tower"(PS1) which i bought for $9.99 w/free shipping brand new! Turned out to be one of my favorite PS1 games, and super rare for an ntsc copy. Glad to have played it many times, but if i knew it would be worth close to $1,000 sealed, i might've thought twice about opening it, and just found another beater copy. Still, no regrets cuz i've always been more of a game player, in it for the experience, than a collector. I'm still a collector just rarely sell. I used to get really good deals on my import games through Amazon as well. Probably been 5 years since i've bought off Amazon unless it was just for a new game that was basically the same price everywhere on sale.

    The main reason people buy on Amazon is because they just don't know. I was wearing my Gameboy watch at work and my boss said she likes my watch and that she was looking on Amazon to buy one since she had one as a kid, and I told her she should look on eBay since Amazon overcharges and she said "I never thought of that" it's honestly just taking advantage of people that don't know any better and just want to relive their childhood.

    @mestgovroom 12 годин тому

    Amazon is good for some of the more niche titles that are out of stock on eBay and Mercari. Also, the sellers on Amazon are slower to react to price changes and fluctuations. I've gotten a few games under market value from Amazon that way. Complete in box too. Some sellers don't mention it and list their CIB games for the price of a lose game, not knowing any better. Of course you won't know until you receive the game, but it's worth the risk with the return policy that Amazon provides.

  • @cosmicsynapse
    @cosmicsynapse 12 годин тому

    The biggest reason why i refuse to buy off amazon is because I can't see actual photos of the copy of the game I'm interested in. A seller can get me even more interested in their copy if they show the game running too. If i can't see that, there's no deal, and amazon suffers from that inability to show with pictures.

    That’s not the PS6 when PS6 is here that’s when you’ll know if Sony is going all digital nothing is yours either digital or physical you can put the physical copy of Concord game that was delisted digital it won’t play so what’s that tell you about owning the games? There are hundreds of other games that needs online play if nobody joins you can’t play the game so stop being a physical fan when they aren’t yours you only own the disc but the license isn’t

    • @MysticGargoyle
      @MysticGargoyle 18 хвилин тому

      That is not entirely true, because there are still tons of disc and cartridge based games you can play without the need of any patch. This goes especially from smaller distributors like Limited Run etc, that sells you the complete physical game. There may be updates, but it's not mandatory to play the actual game. There is a website which regularly lists new games, it's called doesitplay. Here you can check if they require any download to play.

    For additional information, you can Google search "NES CartDB." It is a database of photos of cartridge boards and other important information that you can use to verify that everything checks out. It has part numbers of the chips so you can compare what you have to what it should be. If you can, you should always open games up before you buy them. If they are online, all you can do is buy from a reputable place that has an actual return policy, or some other way to get your money back, like a good dispute process.

    New physical games is still a 2-3 billion dollar industry, however if you look at the latest video by Mystic you can clearly see that we are in a 85% decline since 2008. For the moment i don't think physical drives are any problem when it comes to Playstation, since Sony produce their own drives. But it's just a matter of time, since Xbox is moving away from physical media, Sony will for sure follow in the same direction eventually. LG recently shut down their last factory producing Blu-Ray drives, but they said that the stock would last way into 2026. We will probably see that all the major publishers will move away entirely from physical media going forward to 2030, but smaller independent publishers will be more important than ever. Just recently Play-Asia made an exclusive deal with Koei Tecmo to release the physical version of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black in Asia. This game will not get a physical release elsewhere, so it just shows that we are in for a major change when it comes to how physical games is sold and distributed. We already have Limited Run and plenty of others, but this will just expand over the coming years. Just like Vinyl records, physical games will not disappear, it will just be harder and more expensive to buy them in limited quantities.

      It matters because what he paid for it certainly doesn't match the value of the cart itself. If you're just wanting to play games, use an emulator or buy an Everdrive. If you're collecting, you want to spend your money on the real deal.

    until you can stream all the games at the same price as music and movies I can't see them replacing physical. Digital downloads for movies didn't replace cd sales as the cost was still too similar, it wasnt till streaming where they took a nosedive. And even then they still produce cds. I can't see it happening as not being an option for at least 20 years honestly

    Vinyl records are making a surprising comeback in popularity. It looks like we might be heading towards a trend where physical media becomes more sought after in the future. As people realize that buying digital can lead to losing their purchases and that subscriptions often tie them down with subpar service, many will start to crave physical formats again. It might take a lot of frustration with digital for them to finally ditch it and embrace physical media once more.

    SP is a solid choice. It’s crazy how pocketable it is compared to the other handhelds. I agree that the GBA form factors is better though. I modded my GBA with a backlit screen so I’d personally take that. If I hadn’t upgraded my screen it’d be the SP.

    My local retro shop in the UK now is mostly Pokemon related, pretty sad but it was going to happen eventually. I don't understand why people would collect but not play video games - requires a ton of room, money and time, also very risky compared to a traditional ISA or even collectible card game. I collect because i enjoy playing these games as the modern gaming industry has gone down the pan over the past few years.

    You're spot on about collectables being susceptible to hype and euphoria. DVD collecting is the same, with an example being 28 Days Later. Super common, completely worthless for the longest time. However, now that the new movie is being made it's seen a huge spike in value. I can't see it staying so valuable as it is right now, but who knows.

    Phoenix Resell is now promoting that they'll take any loose game off your hands and give you $0.25 for it. Some loose games that are worth around $10 still only get you that quarter. This means they're scooping up all kinds of video games, whether they're valuable or not. His strategy seems to drain every game of its worth and then control the market prices. His Amazon store even got their Madden 13 25th anniversary edition, which nobody cares about, listed at $44.55 complete in box. This is how the pricing for common games is getting messed with. If loose games can be manipulated online, it impacts the CIB or sealed game pricing. Just keep an eye out for these online shady resellers. Before long, all sports games might end up being seen as valuable.

    My area is stacked with rare titles where I found multiple rare titles in 1 location and an OG Gameboy with backlight screen mod. Impossible to locate an OG Gameboy (period) as I have litterally searched stores for 2+ years. But, yes, it is definitely heavilly dependant on region. There will be mom and pops that will have nothing and others with treasures. I have another store that usually does have some rare stuff as they actively seek that out for their display case. Totally agree: Investing (stocks/bonds) or attempting to invest in collectibles is all about popularity contests. If there's excitement for Sonic then there is a spike for Sonic collectibles. I am curious if "King Spawn" movie causes a spike in Spawn collectibles albeit I think that movie got delayed to 2026.

    Also applies to managing your collection size. When you're trying to downsize, it can be tough to get rid of games that no one wants. I have a few Gen 3 - Gen 6 Pokemon games that I'm considering getting rid of as I probably will never play them. They'll go quickly depending on how I price them. At my retailer - I'm seeing lots of variety.

    You went and got Last Resort, did you expect to see another copy take it's place? What perplexes me is the thought that there "Should" be $100 and up games in the cases... When all the people who want them for whatever reason already bought them. If they were that easy to replace by shop owners then they wouldn't be valued that high in the first place. Supply / Demand drives everything. Then you have stores that DO have those high priced games stocked and people aren't buying them. So what you have is the desire to continue to get 'steals'. Not even deals. The desire to purchase a $100 game for $15 was some people's thrill of the hunt. So it's not as fun to get it for market price.
