There's definitely something very special about that band. Don't get me wrong, I love King's solo stuff, but there's something unique and just special about MF. Incredible band!
Back then Mercyful Fate, Priest, Maiden, Accept etc broke ground everyday. Always a show in a club or coliseum back then. Albums always coming out. Unbelievable times
Metal has many icons and legends but there is only one King Diamond. Mercyful Fate's rhythm section was criminally underrated back in the day. Kim Ruzz was one of the best drummers I ever heard and in his era. -l- Desecration Of Souls -l- \mm/
Kim and clive burr. Actually. Soo many amazing musicians from that time. Elp. King crimson. The list just doesent end. And its a crying shame the when these radio stations do them bracket contests, they never go off format and include the really great bands. And ofcourse. Youll NEVER hear any iron maiden song other than run to the hills on the radio.

Yeah it's not bad. The melodies are really cool. Keeps hitting the same high note a lot. Lots of energy. Having a little issue with English there at "I saw my soul, in a magical haze It was all dressed up as a corpse in a wedding dress". How is a soul dressed as a corpse and why in a dress? But it completely obliterates most of almost everything else new that's coming out. That guitar tone. The high energy riffs. There's still enough "rock" to keep it propulsive. Great song! Thank you for sharing it!
GOD! I LOVE THIS SHIT ! This is the song that stole my soul and since the day in 1984 when they play their first concert in America:Chuck Landis, Country Club in Reseda, San Fernando Valley, California until today when I eagerly await the return of the mighty, mighty Kind Diamond! All Hail !!!

I was gonna say 82 or 83 but according to this its 84. Im 53 yrs old and remember very well discovering Mercyful Fate. The good ole days of tapes and vinyl's !
Some years ago a friend said he had a VHS with a Brats concert from 1981 with King Diamond on vocals (my friend's band was playing the same night). Seemed like he couldn't find the tape though.
I seen their 1st show in the U.S. in Portland, Or. At the Starry Nite. Just amazing! I had never heard them or seen anything about them, my friends said I had to go so I went and let me say it was a lot to take in all at once at 18 years old! I'll never forget it!

Would love to see the full show. I noticed Timi has a Firebird bass, then a V bass! He was such a bad ass, his energy and attitude. RIP
I believe King has tried to put together a concert from this era for release but has run into issues with digitizing.
He's an obvious Gibson user. 👍🏿👍🏿

Killer vintage footage...RIP Timi!!! 🤘🤘
Dream team ever
Progressive Metal before there was even progressive metal.
I think I counted 22 riffs on "The Oath". And it's brilliant how they seamlessly fit all those riffs together.
This also has a "pre-thrash" sound to it. Can definitely hear how Metallica was influenced by these guys.
Dark. Heavy. Loud. Fast. Although completely clean and melodic. True, true metal!
I think the same...
*cough* Judas Priest *cough*
