      Hi Alejandro. Absolutely! There's more ways you can use a template that I haven't demonstrated yet. Stay tuned for more. Thank you for watching and subscribing!

    Skills just let a computer make straight uniform likes...... I like a brush like and little imperfections that in the end become what makes it so good.

    • @WaldenWongArt
      @WaldenWongArt  3 роки тому

      Hi koskey06. Thank you so much for the comment. I also like using brush on paper because once the art is done, you have a piece of original art that can be framed. With computer art, it’s just all files and no real original art. Thank you for watching and please subscribe to my channel if you haven’t already. Thanks again!

      Thank you so much for watching my video. Haha. I know what you mean. Using two hands to draw and one had to hold templates does take some effort. Your inking is another level of tight! I was wondering if you prefer tight pencils artists or loose to ink over?

    • @WaldenWongArt
      @WaldenWongArt  6 років тому +4

      Thank you, Idan! That's a good question. Tight and loose pencils are different ways of inking for me. With the tight pencils, all I'm concentrating on is line weights, textures, and making things pop. That's more of a controlled way of inking as well as working on "cruse control". With the loose pencils, I'm getting in there and drawing. Majority of the time, I'm tightening up the loose pencils with my own pencils on top, and when it looks okay, I'll ink it later. So there's a bit of fun in that as well.

      Walden Wong Inks Thank you for the quick and informative reply! I absolutely love your dynamic inking adding so much line weight and tightness even to pencilers so tight and clean! Thank you for making videos!

      Idan, Thank YOU for following me along on my videos. When I started out wanting to be a comic artist, there wasn't much info out there, if any. I'm hoping my videos can help everyone and answer as many questions that they would need. If someone learns even a little from my videos, then all this is worth it.

    Wow! The speed in which you ink is phenomenal. You have such incredible control over your tools and your linework. For me, it's what I want to aspire to, but it's a steep learning curve. Thanks for sharing your pro advice!

    • @WaldenWongArt
      @WaldenWongArt  6 років тому +2

      Thanks Rometiklan. Truth be told, the video is speed-up! Otherwise the video will take much longer to finish. Some of my earlier UA-cam vidoes, I'm showing in real time. Some of these are about an hour long! Haha. But for the shorter videos, I wanted to show how I approach working with certain tools and how to create texture with inking.

    Incredible work, Walden. Do you use a faster drying Rapidograph ink? I would be smearing ink all over the place with those cool templates.

    • @WaldenWongArt
      @WaldenWongArt  4 роки тому

      Rick Rudge I use the Kohinoor Universal inks for the Rapidograph pens. They all dry the same. It doesn’t dry faster. I just keep track of where I’ve inked down a line and try not to touch it go over the inked area until a few minutes are so. I’m constantly drawing and inking, I’ll just hold the straight edges slightly higher to levitate it, and ink. After practicing, you’ll get better where when the ink is dried. But every now and then, I still smudge. Haha. Thank you for watching and subscribing!

      Thank you for watching my video. Here’s my Amazon affilaite link to almost the same ellipse template I use. amzn.to/3umqAeE it has a few different degree ovals and with this, you don’t have to buy too many. Hope this helps. I was wondering if you put any tape or I noticed a glued on penny under your ruler, when you use templates or do you not worry about ink smearing. I know I have screwed that up.

    • @WaldenWongArt
      @WaldenWongArt  6 років тому +3

      Hi Tom. I do put tape on the pennies under the ruler, so that give the ruler a beveled edge. And the reason specifically for that is to prevent ink from smearing underneath. I'll make a new video about the ruler and demonstrate how to prevent smearing soon! Great question!

    Awesome video, as usual. I'd love to see video of how you handle all that tight architecture behind the characters. I presume similar but with larger French curves?

    • @WaldenWongArt
      @WaldenWongArt  6 років тому +1

      Hi Matt! Will do, I'll make a video on that in the future. Similar, but with tools. French curves as well as Flex Curves and partial curves.

  • @GlacialSpain
    @GlacialSpain 6 років тому +2

    How does using an oval template compare to using a french curve?

    • @WaldenWongArt
      @WaldenWongArt  6 років тому +3

      Hi GlacialSpain, for me, the oval templates are much quicker in finding the correct curves which are smaller. On the templates, there's a series different sized ovals in a series of degrees. Just a quick shift and you get the correct template. The french curves are better with much larger curves. You can achieve the same inking effect, but may take a bit longer to find the correct curve.
