    Excellent tutorial Walden, i always thought french curve was the only way to ink curves. You have shown us a different tool that can do similar job.

      Thank you, Comic Art Talk. Yes, there's different tools that can do the same job. I started using the flexable curve before trying out the french curve. Just because I can quickly bend the flexable curve to make that perfect curve, then to try to match up and find it on the french curve.

    Another cool vid, Walden! I love learning about new tools of the trade. I recently bought a French Curve set at a yard sale and I'm having a lot of fun learning how to ink with it so this video comes at the perfect time. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

      I appreciate that, Rometiklan! I'm glad this video helped. With the french curve set, there are three different ones. With the whole set, you soould be able to find ANY curve you need. When it comes to larger curves, the flexable curve is the best way to go. Thanks again!

      Awesome, William Hernandez! Aside from the metal wired that can snap inside, these Flexible Curves can be used for a very long time! Even the broken ones! Thanks for watching and subscribing!

    I love your videos brother, thank you. I learn something and get inspired by each one. I will be buying a flex curve to practice.

      Hi Doctor Fantastic! Always happy to hear when others leaned from my videos and inspire them. Makes doing these videos worth it! You’ll enjoy using the flex curve as it’ll make you work look polished. Thanks for watching and subscribing!

    Might I make a suggestion for holding the flex curve in place? Draw on a metal panel and use strong magnets on outside diameter of curve to hold in place. Also on both edges at the ends of the desired section of curve. Hopes this helps!

      Robert Suarez thank you so much for the idea. I had to think and imagine what you were saying. But after figuring it out, that’s a GENIUS idea!!! I know where to get strong magnets, now I need to figure out where I can get a flat flush metal panel. Pure Genius, Robert! Thank you for watching and subscribing!

      Perhaps a metal bulletin board? Should come in various sizes to suit your needs.

    Do you have your raised a little to keep the ink from bleeding under it.

    • @WaldenWongArt
      @WaldenWongArt  6 років тому +1

      Hi Racing Psychosis. The flexible curve I’m using actually has a beveled edge on it. One side is beveled and the other side regular. When it’s beveled, that means there’s a raised edge on it, perfect for inking. So the ink doesn’t sleep underneath the bendable ruler and cause an ink smudge. Hope that helps. Thank you for watching and subscribing! More great videos coming soon!

      Yep that makes sense. I have one that does not have that, and it would definitely seep underneath if I tried that with a tech pen.

    • @WaldenWongArt
      @WaldenWongArt  6 років тому +1

      Did you check the other side or even the opposite side of the Flex Curve you have? The beveled edge on mine is located on one side only. The other side doesn't have it. But even if you don't have a beveled edge on your flex curve, it's not all lost. You can still use it for inking curves, just angle the inking pen your using to slightly angle away from the flex curve and that will still work. Give it a try and let me know how that goes for you.

      How about adding spacers on one side to create a gap between the flex curve and the drawing surface? That way it will be raised.

    *flexible

    • @WaldenWongArt
      @WaldenWongArt  6 років тому

      Yes. But to bend too steep. As the metal wire inside WILL break. Thanks for watching and subscribing!

    • @borkmcfink
      @borkmcfink 6 років тому

      Yes. I'm just saying saying it's spelled "flexible", not "flexable". Good video though.
