I'm going with a similar set up except upgrading to the articulating head. I had one years ago as part of an Echo 2 stroke split shaft set. It is so worth the extra money for that additional flexibility.

Sounds good, I was literally using my whole set up this morning. I mostly used the chain saw attachment with the extra extension so I could reach some high palm tree branches, worked great. Switching between heads and adding extensions is so easy. Good luck, I think you will be happy.

I was thinking about getting one of these for my small landscape business but eventually gave up on it and bought the 18V model that is only a pole hedge trimmer. So there are no attachments. The reason why I went that way is the weight. This model you have was simply to heavy for me to use for 2-3 hours on end.
The 18V model holds a single battery and has plenty of power.
Unfortunately my local Makita dealer doesn't offer an 18V pole saw from Makita. In this case a powered head with pole saw attachment would be great but it is what it is..
I've payed 400 bucks for my long reach hedge trimmer. And as far as trimmer is concerned I still have to use the gas powered one cause even the 36V model you have lacks power for serious brush cutting jobs..

I admit, she's a bit heavy but I'm still impressed with the power and battery life. I imagine in a commercial setting it gets tougher but i dream of the day i don't have my peace interrupted by gas powered blowers, trimmers, mowers, etc. They are crazy loud and worse when they don't have proper mufflers. I'm surprised Landscapers don't set up electric and advertise quiet yard work. Maybe when you get your electric truck it will make sense because you'll have your charging and power source right there. 🙂

No worries, it cuts, it is a bit bulky when I have the extension on but in it's regular set up it's good.

Is the connector universal? I.e. it will take any other standard attachments from other strimmer, hedge trimmers etc?

Any idea how this EN410MP trimmer head differs from the EN401MP trimmer head? They appear to have same cutting length but different in overall lengths. I'm most concerned about diamer of cut but oddly enough this basic spec is not listed..

401 is articulating, other than that, not sure. Its possible the articulating unit gives up some bite and or durability, but can't say for sure. Mine in not articulating, it's pretty HD..

@@wetlifesports ahh I thought I read both were articulating. Thanks!

Yep, just the head articulation main difference and that impacts the cutting capacity. Still good. I love mine and i have the edger and string trimmer. Not heavy compared to my 52cc petrol unit

Fantastic video, I love the Makita range (I have a drill, saw and a few other bits) and have been looking at getting the exact set-up you feature here.
Just one question... How have you found it over the past year? Any issues?

No fear, jump in, literally used it yesterday and still love this beast! Easy to use, batteries great, trigger good, cuts my mangroves like butter. Bit of an arm workout but everything is when your reaching out. Keeps me from getting flappy triceps.. worth the investment, you won't be disappointed. GL

did any of the other units have interchangeable shafts? Im curious if the Stihl Kombi system or any other shaft systems fit the Makita.

Good question, its been awhile, sorry, I can't recall but I do slightly recall the one I bought at Home depot or Lowes was possibly a Ryobi grass trimmer and it could take other attachments so I bought the universal hedger attachment and tried that. It added up to decent money and I think it had that small bite width that kept me from really getting the bigger stalks I needed to get. I just used my Makita again this weekend and I hit the Mangroves hard and abused it cutting thru stuff more than and inch. I had to put a lot of pressure on the tip of the blade so it would gnaw thru the branch, it did it surprisingly well. I let the mangroves get a bit heavy but the Makita still did the job. Yes it gets heavy to hold... but anything you hold out away from you gets heavy quick. Good for the arms I figure. I was still blown away on how quick it blew thru heavy stuff. I don't get any benefit for recommending any particular thing so this is just my organic opinion. Good luck.

I don't know, I didn't know Milwaukee had this type of trimmer.

Great video, I'm going to help you, check out the EZ LIFT HARNESS. This device hooks onto your back (similar to a back pack) it has a beam that comes out over your head that you hook up to a string trimmer, hedge trimmer etc... It takes the weight off of your arms and centers it over the core of your body. Check them out on UA-cam. I bought the more commercial unit with 2 hydraulic cylinders. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
