Van Occupanther is probably one of my favourite albums of the 00s.
Every song has me thinking "oh, this is my favourite. Oh no wait, *this* one is my favourite".
My actual favourite though is Head Home which should be next on your list! Great work guys, cheers.

Very nice that part about 2:50 where the violin takes the lead with the energetic drums, swirling keyboard?, and a Peter Hook like bass was perfect. Good band , good pick.
It reminded me of those McCartney solo albums.

Nothing wrong with Peter Hammill! I could certainly recommend ‘Institute of Mental Health, Burning’ or ‘Porton Down’. Prog is a limiting description for Hammill, proto-and post-punk are a couple of genres he touches on in his oeuvre in addition to the more proggy stuff. I enjoyed the song, touch of the Beach Boys in the harmonies, nice imaginative arrangement.

The violinist uses a lot of what is known officially as portamento or slur and vulgarly as swoop. It can be overdone, but has its uses, like here.
I thought Swoop was Sooty's ne'er-do-well sidekick - before he added Doggy Dogg to his title and went solo. You live and learn.
