Really nice chilled out, laid back vibe to this song, I also felt a Fleetwood Mac flavour to this one. Great song cheers all!

My favourite album of all time, been listening to it for almost 20 years now and am still not sick of it. I love all their albums. Tim just released his first album since leaving Midlake , the album is called Albion and the band name is Harp, its awesome.

The line in 'Branches': "We won't get married, 'cause she won't have me..." Just the way it's delivered each time. Masterful.

This album has a permanent place in my top 10 favourite albums.
I have to say that although Roscoe is perhaps the best song on the album, the rest are all top drawer - especially Head Home which personally is my favourite.
Anyway, yeah a cracking reaction to a cracking song!

Thank you for dropping in and providing your perspective, Sean. I absolutely LOVED this track, and the more y'all continue to provide affirmation of that while speaking so highly of the album as a whole, the more intrigued I am to discover other works by these guys. Thanks again! - Andy

Love Andy's sheer delight as the song unfolds for him. Wonderful wonderful tune from one of my favourite American albums of all time. There's also a rather nifty Wizard's Sleeve remix of it.
Great choice, but honestly any damn song off Van Occupanther would have done. What an album it is.

Ok, but just to be clear when this gets to court, it was all your idea. Murder by Midlake - great title for a book.

Good call by Lucky Ian and Jon on Fleetwood Mac. I was also getting Matthews Southern Comfort crossed with "Don't Fear the Reaper" (with more nature and fewer ghosts).
I didn't pick up any musical reference to Peter and the Wolf. However, at the end of that piece a gang of woodcutters appears and carts the captured wolf off to the circus.
Roscoe (born 1891) couldn't possibly be the splendidly-named jockey Roscoe Goose? Could it?

    • @theaudiophiles7889
      @theaudiophiles7889  Рік тому +1

Roscoe Goose - with a name like that he could only be a jockey or a PI.
      Cheers, Jon.

One thing I would challenge...Roscoe is not the best song 'by far'. I would argue that although Roscoe is the most immediate track, this album is consistently good. I just recommended it to a friend last week, and their favourite track was 'Young Bride'. Roscoe is the gateway drug.

Enjoyed the harmonies, great keyboard part, possibly a bit too polished for my personal taste, but a good song from a band I was aware of but never heard.

It’s interesting one of you mentioned their Radiohead influence and how one of the musicians said they could write songs like theirs, because their first album has *a* *lot* of Radiohead-esque moments on it, in my opinion.

Just the most beautiful song. Almost too good, like it was too much for the band to live up to.

Top tune, great choice Jon. Love this band, and they're still going strong. Andy, I think you might enjoy this remix/re-animation of Roscoe by Beyond the Wizards Sleeve, they take an already great song and (for me) take it to yet another level. Cheers! ua-cam.com/video/rQBs5KnLBks/v-deo.html

Hey guys? What's this all about? Of couse John pick this song. I always thought he had great taste in music. This is a classic cult album. However, Phil the Crab knows best. Try something more up to date, the song "Feast of Carrion" from their newer album, For take of the Bethel Woods. This song is stellar! John, you know I would only recommend top tunes. This is retro prog, in a good way. I dare you to react and post it. I have to keep an eye on the two of you...and yes, I have seen them live. They opened for Band of Horses.
Oh, and nice to see you on line...

@@theaudiophiles7889 Hey guys, all is well here. Yes, she tries to, but there's only so much you can do with me. Still going to shows. Just saw Wilco, I've lost count on how many times I've seen them. We're going to see them again in France when we go on vacation. Also seen recently, Adrian Belew/Jerry Harrison doing Talking Heads, Fleet Foxes - amazing! Upcoming shows - Death Cab, Beck/Phoenix/Japanese Breakfast, Peter Gabriel...and Madonna, bitch better get better, those tix were most expensive. Should I subscribe? You know me, when I comment, I won't pull punches...Hope all is well with you both.
