You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.

I have got to say, the lift is very good for the price point.
I bought it for 120€ and that’s a bargain. Some people pay that much simply for the insert.
You are absolutely right in your assessment of the target group. I have a handheld router and can’t really justify buying a more powerful one simply to insert it in a table. This is excellent and for a very low price I can now build a router table that is absolutely sufficient for my needs…

Hey Dennis! Thanks for sharing. The router lift looks pretty nice. Just one remark on the router: Even though it seems to be a nice idea to have a mobile solution by using a battery powered device, I would strongly advocate a cable version for the following security reason: The switch of the router is underneath the table and practically inaccessible - especially in an emergency situation. So it is a good idea to have the router switched on and plug it into an emergency switch, that is accessible at the front of the table. This switch is mandatory here in Germany for off the shelf products like router tables. Obviously this does not apply for a table you build on your own - however it is still a good idea and it also eliminates the necessity to dive under the table every time you want to switch on the router.
Please keep up with your excellent work!
    Best Regards
    Andreas

You can make your own circuit with an emergency switch and 2 battery adapter. I don't have the reference of the parts I used, but one converted the Makita battery to 2 fast on connectors, wired to the safety switch.
In term of safety if you kill the power through the e-stop, you cannot restart it unless you both reset the e stop and switch on again the Makita router.
Anyway I am so tempted to purchase this router lift! Looks much cheaper than manufacturing one.

This looks like a great router lift for the price point.
Paired with a portable router table (and fence), this may be a great option for those that need portability. I'm thinking of pairing it with my Rockler convertible bench top router table if I can come up with a way to mount it into the proprietary plate opening that table has. Being able to swap it in and out between routing and (spindle) sanding at a job site would be great for trim work.
Do you have the plate dimensions handy? I may have missed that in your presentation.

I used to develop product in China. One of the products I developed was a Folding, reclining, Adirondack chair. It sold in the stores in the US for $180. Our landed cost per chair at customs was $12.50. What that should tell you is that The wood, metal fittings, cutting, milling, finishing, boxing and shipping costs, all added together, per chair, had to be somewhat LESS that $5 each. The lumber yard made a profit. The wood shop and metal parts suppliers made a profit, even the shipping company made a profit, and it still only cost $12.50.
Then, of course we paid a custom’s duty. And we charged a profit to the retailer who distributed and sold it. And they then triple that cost to steel it to the consumer.
Mass production is capable of producing things for staggeringly low costs. Its all the middle men that make everything cost so much.

    • @Charlesredporsche

@@Charlesredporsche Manufacturing goes to China because of greedy companies in your own country, so blame US companies then. However your claim that all money that goes to China gets spent on their military is silly and clearly false. Besides which US weapons manufacturers and military contractors would just have their bought and paid for politicians fabricate an excuse for high military spending even if China didn't exist.

Firstly, thank you for all of your videos, they have been enormously helpful to me. With regard to the issue of sawdust when routing dados, I know that there is a dust catcher from Rockler that sits at the end of the router table but I think that there is a better solution: boat deck plates with an underside connection to the vacuum or to the router's dust collection cabinet. The plates sit flush with the work surface and are air-tight. You unscrew the cover only when routing dados. The distance between the port and the router bit is dependent on the size of the opening (the one I bought is 78 mm) and the draw of the vacuum system and probably best determined by trial.
Keep up the great work. I look forward to each new episode. Thanks!

Hi Dennis, yet another excellent review 😁. I bought the original Router Fence you reviewed and found it to be just what I needed. I prefer the dust extraction port at the end of the fence, rather than the middle at the back.
The micro adjust is "O.K." but not really "micro".
I am hoping the Incra LS25 Positioner will adapt to the Fence as this will turn it into a much more high-end fence system.
I understand that Benchdogs make an adaptor plate which fits the LS positioners, but not sure if you have reviewed that in any of your videos.

    1. Would you know what the purpose of the part is that is labelled "adhust" on the bottom and is secured by the u-shaped part with two bolts?
    2. What is the grey material from which you made the work bench? Is it PVC, colored MDF, colored HDF? I am also in the Netherlands. If you have a good source I would be grateful if you could indicate it.

Not cheap. For around that amount I built a digital fence- select the position and it drives there, with an accuracy of 0.01mm. It includes a linear rail mitre (cross) fence. And the touch screen controller plus all electronics. And a digital lift mechanism (just insert the desired height). And auto lift-and-lock for bit change. And auto setting for finger and dovetail joints. And variable width dados. And fully automatic cutting of mortices, biscuit slots, dowels, etc. All aluminium alloy construction with thermoplastic faced workpiece guides.
Having to set your fence and bit height by hand is so last century...

    Brother,

      @HookedonWood  11 місяців тому

This is a very nice lift. I just recently purchased a JessEm lift for my full sized router, but having a small lift for my Makita trim router would be awesome. My only problem with this lift is that I would have to have a dedicated table for it. My only table is for the JessEm. Otherwise I would definitely purchase this little guy.

Sorry Dennis, this time it's not such a bargain. The Trend fence is half the price and just as good. It's hard to see the benefit of importing it yourself, dealing with a tricky returns policy and paying a premium when the alternatives are better.

Great stuff as always! I don’t know what it’s like where you are but when it comes to half inch routers, in the UK you can only get plunge routers in the affordable area. That means that there aren’t any affordable lift systems as far as I can tell.
I’m having to think of a super dodgy way of adapting my half inch plunge router.
I guess expensive CNC motors are an option, shame though

Interesting products. Unfortunately, starting from the same position as you were in, I've meanwhile found alternative solutions for both the router fence (bought a rather capable self-made fence on ebay for way less than 100 Euro (now slightly over 100 Euro) out of plywood and 3d printed parts a while ago) and I replaced the crappy Makita by a much larger Triton and a Sauter insert plate (which is featurewirse rather similar to this router lift -- sans the lift of course). I certainly wouldn't go back to a Makita but if there was a cheap but good router with the same diameter that would seem like a great solution.

And because I was impatient, I cracked the casing to my router, it has to be placed very specifically to fit.
