I love the stuff you do, real jujutsu. Not just throws like judo, not overly fround focused like bjj, not magical chi compliance like aikido. Real, well rounded combat grappling. *Chefs Kiss*
Absolutely love that you blend JJJ into BJJ. You guys are the best! I have to get some of your materials!
Oss!! Thanks Doug! Check out tritaccombat.com
Sensei Matt , your videos continue to be a big inspiration. Thank you
This video is gold.. thank you for the knowledge.
Your explanation of kotaegashi is superb. With uchimata and hishishime prelude. Finally some vindication for wrist techniques
Thanks man, its one of my favorites
Thanks for posting love the content
Fantastic explanation of the techniques!! Thanks for sharing!!!
The modernization of traditional JJJ we've all been waiting for. Thank you!
Great video please do some more thank you so much 🙏🏾
That kata guruma is the "Old-man-with-funky-knees kata guruma." I'll definitely be working that one! Thank you.
Been a fan of your channel, glad you are showing traditional JuJutsu with modern entries. I've been doing similar incorporating FMA, Wing Chun with JuJutsu locks on my channel. Keep up with the videos!
Oss Thanks man!! Love the integrations!
Great video
I agree with a friend below, who requested more combat attacks.
Great blend. It's all about Jutsu 🤙🗡
Excellent! 🔥🔥🔥Combat Jiu-Jitsu 🥋🤙🏻Please, do more video about Combat Jiu-Jitsu🙏🏻
MORE coming, especially live classes
Bringing back fond memories of my Gojin days. Love it!
💯. Amazing
You have modernized JJJ in the sense of blending more Western Boxing offense and defense into your system.
GREAT JOB!!!
I train Judo and love it for its explosiveness but we also cross train Traditional Japanese Ju Jitsu and I love all the different wrist, armlocks and leg locks we use, if you have the time cross train it's to your advantage. OUS
Awesome, Japanese Jujutsu is quite robust when trained for combat instead of a history lesson
Totally agree with you on every frame👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💪💪💪💪💪🥋🥊🤗
Hit em with that oh sodo gary, mmmmm. The best pronunciation.
Lynbrook NY and he sounds like Wisconsin or another Midwest transplant! Either way, the technique speaks for itself and the instruction is great!
😂😂😂
Y’all are awesome
Thanks man, so are you!
Great!
Nice you guys do the something we do. We apply traditional to modern application
That’s what true “Mixed Martial Arts” is, seeing the beauty and usefulness in all martial arts, but fighting what ultimately works for you.
… Sounds like something Bruce Lee might have said lol
I watch your videos nearly every day. I predominately train combatives and have been mixing some of your techniques in with that and have been really having good success in applying them. I appreciate you and your work very much if I’m ever in your neck of the woods I am attending your classes in person. Thank you sir.
That's awesome! Glad to hear you're getting some great training ideas and techniques

Kotegaeshi getting the love it deserves on this channel is the coolest thing ever
Much appreciated man! Kote Gaeshi has become one of my favorites the more I understand it. Even learning over ... 25+ years ago, it still is something I have found great success in as I study it more.
@@tritacacademy amazing! 🔥
I have a question . I trying decide between 2 schools. 1 is yoshin ryu jujutsu koryu ju taijutsu. I believe they train very tradition kata, Waza. Or a genbukan ninpo taijutsu school that has become ten chi wa taijutsu, basically traditional jujutsu but modern applications similar to what you're doing, kata waza traing then randori application training.
The first is basically samurai bujutsu school. While I'm intrigued with the traditional way I do want waste time if can't be effective in self defense. Thanks,
Such a brilliant class do you do anything against Shotokan kicks I do judo too :))
Are shotokan kicks different somehow? We do a lot of kicks, both attack and defense in our MMA/Combatives classes
TRITAC Martial Arts, this is very interesting. I always think that aiki jujitsu, koryu jujutsu, aikido, hapkido, etc are impractical and weak, but when you have a good base in styles like bjj, I think these TMA style's techniques may suppliment and even surprise people in the circuit.
Good example is Shinya Aoki's fight where he broke his opponent's arm with a standing armlock. It was a low percentage move when used against an athletic and educated opponent in a fast-moving environment, but opponent did expect such thing in the first place.
It's a common misunderstanding that they are impractical. Much of the jujutsu we see today actually comes from Koryu Jujutsu, which was taken from edged weapons systems. The throws (which were done a bit differently than demonstrated in this video) were done against armed opponents and came from actual battlefield use. The reason why most of the koryu jujutsu examples look weak is because it has mostly turned into a historical practice that hasn't adapted to modern-day situations. Some have adapted, however, and remain practical.
@@RWGeorge Koryu jujutsu, aikido, hapkido all have their place. They are legit. I saw more than one BJJ practitioners that confirmed that they work. However, are these styles effective by themselves? Answer would be no. Aikido has lots of similarities with koryu jujutsu. I saw an aikido master fight multiple times in an amateur mma (Strelka) against different styles. Any style based on koryu jujutsu will not work effectively even against strikers with no grappling background from what I saw. He was defeated over and over, unable to execute any techniques well, and the master even had trouble maintaining balance.
Only time I saw aikido "defeat" boxing, tkd, mma was when either the other party sparred in slow pace to allow aikidoka to do his moves or when "mma" guy played in what it seemed like a worked match to lose to aikidoka, who did not even use aikido to win.
I think the tma styles I mentioned have their place similar to what you stated, because they influenced other more effective styles that came later on, but those tma styles by themselves cannot provide effective form of fighting style nor self defense. Just coming from my research and observation.
@@alter5057 Well said. That's also my experience - they haven't adapted with the times in most cases, and thus do not have an answer for strikers. Aikido, having come from Ueshiba Morihei's study of Daito Ryu with Takeda Sokaku, has a semblance of that left, but that depends on the style and it has been greatly watered down since then. But the movement is not kori movement, nor is the philosophy oriented to combatives, weapons training, or effective striking and, as you noted, cannot provide an effective form of dealing with most situations in its own paradigm.
Just wondering, why style Aikijujutsu are you using.
Check out Sanucus ryu Jujitsu by Moses Powell.
I'm love jujutsu and karate BTW I from Malaysia 🇲🇾
Osoto Gary. LOL
I say weird shit :)
You mate, should chech out SKJJ in NZ - givin out cuddles just this.
Minor detail, but the first throw is mislabeled (says it's osoto gari)
Agree, first movement is a variant of ippon seoi nage
Do y’all have a similar video without the gi? Showing combatives.
Stay tuned more content to come
@@tritacacademy thank you kindly
You have a really nice beard

Jujutsu standing techniques bjj wrestling combat jiu-jitsu
Osoto "Gary" lol
Kote "Gayashi"
Is this intentional?
What’s the difference between aiki JJ JJJ and BJJ
The way I try to describe it to my students is that aiki is small joint manipulation, JJJ is more throws and standing grappling, while BJJ is focused on the ground. Though there is blending and mixing at all levels
@@tritacacademy thank you very much for the explanation
The real big difference is rule set. That's what I tell people when comparing judo and bjj. the rule sets determine which techniques are best suited for the situation. It's great to cross train, though.
This looks like the stuff i do.
You are one phenomenal teacher I wish I had 500$ to train with ya
Awww thanks man! We do have a visitors program
That was like watching a car crash.Sorry. Fingers and Wrong for Koto he is supporting the wrist that changes the pain factor.
JJJ is basically the standing up version of BJJ which in a street fight makes it far more useful.
Quand tu contres il te frappe en croisant les bras il te casse l avant bras
he unironically called it "osoto gary"
B,S, Move 1 is not O soto gari!
Sorry Geoff, we'll do better buddy.
Combat jujitsu ??? Hasnt jujitsu always been combat with judo and aikido developed from it also originally jujitsu was so brutal even the Japanese banned it in its original form what is around today is watered down version
Some approaches to Japanese Jujutsu are more of a history lesson compared to actual combat, while many BJJ schools focus exclusively or too much on sport compared to combat.
Nothing wrong with either, but when we train, we train all perspectives
@@tritacacademy hi I never meant any disrespect to you or your organisation I was just pointing out your use of the word combat and yes your right there are many styles of jujitsu some are true to the original and many are totally for sport I left my jujitsu organisation after it became soort orientated and had no street aplience at all I am traing with my sensei who was trained by meida and suzuki it's very brutal and effective all my respect to you and your videos I am enjoying watching them stay safe
I watch Daito Ryu, that the sensei said we usually dont throw there is no need to learn ukemi and do ukemi.
Ññ
Essa técnica de projeção ñ tá boa
This looks like Aikido
Aikido is an offshoot of Japanese Jujutsu, so you will see the same techniques
@Spodo bbb Different spellings same meaning.
He is protecting the wrist of his opponent. Get your fingers off his wrist. It will work much better. It is why many of these techniques are not effective in real life.
Japanese Jiu-Jitsu? And no-Gi training? Seems more like basic Judo with some heavy borrows from BJJ, MMA, and some basic (thai-)boxing defense But practiced with static scenarios.
Sounds like you figured it all out. I wonder what came first Japanese Jujutsu or Judo or BJJ or MMA.....
@@tritacacademy The way you are doing it, Judo.
All imitations of wrestling which they can do it with sweaty almost bare opponents. Stop beating around go practice freestyle wrestling the real
We do wrestle, myself and all my coaches wrestled and is a big part of our TRITAC curriculum. But this particular video was on Japanese Jujitsu, not wrestling.
Another judo garbage not jujitsu .
