In my opinion it would be better for Bethesda to subsidize a small studio (like Obsidian with FNV) to make the remake, and for it to be made by a studio specializing in isometric crpg's (like Owlcat games or Larian Studios, or even again obsidian)
You mean how rockstar hired Grove Street games to remaster the 3D gta games?
Modern Obsidian really fell off. Just look at Outer Worlds. The game is by no means bad. It’s just really mediocre and simply does not live up to the greatness of New Vegas. They advertised it as Fallout New Vegas 2 in space so we’re allowed to hold it to the same BRUTAL standards people do with Bethesda’s mishandling of Fallout.
@@Shushkin yes and obviously hell no
More like the studio who make the Shadows of Collossus and Demon souls remake (even if they are inferior to the original and are overrated in general) and less Silent Hill HD collection type of deal
@@shreksnow1918 They did not advertise it as fallout new vegas in space xD. People just assumed it would be that, because the trailer said "from the creators of fallout new vegas"
@@Shushkinif you bring up Hitler in a conversation about a fictional character, you’re not saying that they’re Hitler 2 but you’re certainly relating Hitler to said character
As long as Bethesda aren't the ones developing it, I'm _open_ to the idea, but I'm someone who can and does play 1 and 2 on my PC.
@FEVRobert Didn't like New Vegas then, huh? Sad to hear, I did and still do. The gameplay may be similar to 3 but it does so much more with story and lore.
I think definitely it should be
I love the classic Fallout games. They should make a mobile port for the game. I've always wanted to play the games with touch controls, and It would work perfectly as the game just uses mouse and keyboard for inputs.
I actually had fallout 2 on my android phone via apk, i was able to play it pretty fine and i think i made it to san fran before i stopped playing it
Some actions are made by clicking the right mouse button tho, how did you do that?
@@royalsoldierofdrangleic4577u use 2 fingers
@@royalsoldierofdrangleic4577there was a button that's for right clicking in the corner, at least the app i used had it
@@royalsoldierofdrangleic4577 tap and hold for a sec and the right click screen will come up
I swear to God, if they Besthesda does this and I hear the words "updated for a modern audience".
I think a mobile remake of 1 and 2 could be good, also if they want to make something more interesting they can make stylized with vault boy characters and make cartoonish
I don't own a PC and don't know if it when I will, but iv always wanted to play 1 and 2. Many people need a mobile version to experience the original games
Looking at the success of Command and Conquer and StarCraft Remastered, I think they should do a Fallout 1 and 2 remastered for PC. Tim Cain who worked on the original Fallout talked about remastering the games on his channel by using the full renders of in game sprites and map locations instead of the compressed versions, as well as maybe updating the sounds and doing some UI changes. I also think it would be a sweet bonus if they could fix certain features like the ammunition traits that never worked in Fallout 1 or Flameboy from Fallout 2.
The current UI might be hard to translate to mobile, but its probably doable.
I think another issue could be censorship.
The Steam and GOG rereleases are censored to where children are invisible and "drug" is replaced with "chem"
Not in my region. You may live somewhere where the only legal versions are the censored ones.
My guy getting the half baked experience
I prefer a mobile port to a 3D remake. It would be fun to enjoy it outside the home. However I'd say no to narrative changes or censorship unless they can be disabled in an options menu
playstore can be quite restrictive to some of the contents so we can't really know if they would allow it, (especially the killing of kids in fo2)
@@Sucullentbutter That's my fear as well. I don't think it will be released uncut
I think changing dialogue to more fit in with newer entries would be a mistake as it pretty much is just rewriting history to better favor the way that Bethesda has continued the series.
If the classic Fallouts are to be ported to mobile devices, the best way I can see it being executed is purely changing the user interface and controls to handle nicer, without touching any of the actual gameplay, dialog or story. The UI even on PC can be quite clunky and annoying to navigate at times, and making it easier to handle without touching anything else would be a definitive improvement.
Off the top of my head:
- The text display in the bottom-left corner could be taken out of its box and display on a translucent black box over the game, much like chat windows in multiplayer games. This is important given that mobile devices typically have small screens
- Bringing the pip-boy, character sheet and inventory menus together, like how they are in the newer Fallouts. The pip-boy would cover the whole screen, and can be brought up with a button on the bottom of the screen, and it'd contain everything, separated by tabs. The inventory could be grid-based rather than the vertical row seen in the original, and the character sheet/quest information would be laid out in a manner akin to the newer titles.
- The two item equip slots would appear in the bottom corner, opposite the text window. However, rather than tapping an equip slot multiple times to cycle through actions(burst fire, aimed shot, etc.), you'd simply tap the item and the target, and it'd bring up a wheel with all valid choices, from there you would choose the action you want. A similar mechanism would also be used outside of combat, when walking around and interacting with items in the world (eg. tap on a container and you'd get a wheel where you could choose to inspect it, walk up to it, open it, etc.)
I don't think any "dumbing down" necessarily needs to happen, arguably the only thing that should be more clear are a lot of the descriptions for various skills and stats during character creation - those could be rewritten to be more clear without negatively impacting anything. As for microtransactions, there are already a number of classic games ported to mobile that are paid up-front with no further monetization, and I think the classic Fallouts could easily be sold for about 5 bucks each, provided the ports are well-made and feature-complete, with no compromises compared to the original PC versions.
Technically, theres no need to do a remake. In theory, there are projects that could allow running fallout 1,2 and tactics in mobile device like a cellphone or a tablet like box86. Dunno if someone already tried this but, since they are old games, and even with the low performance associated with converting x86 instructions to ARM they should run well enough. Specially with faster ARM processors. Being able to interact with the game using a small touchscreen thats a separate issue altogether.
And if all that sounds too complicated, never forget that we have devices like the steam deck and other handheld PCs. No ports or remasters required.
This is nuts because me and my coworker were just talking about this 2 weeks ago when you uploaded this…
i saw many good remakes of old pixel art games with really cool ways to play. For example the strategy game battle for wesnot used a mousepad type control with a mouse so you can play it just like a pc game just with ur fingers.
KOTOR did a mobile version and it was great.
*atom RPG has entered the chat*
I'd love to have a new spin-off Fallout cRPG series.
Great concept !
If it's not Bethesda doing it
Fanmade yes Bethesda made no
Imagine if they ended up porting brotherhood of steel to the mobile market
Kotor 1 and 2 play so perfect on mobile its my all time favorite game series i only ever owned it on yhe original xbox. I dont play video games anymore but everyone few years I'll redownload kotor and play the full game on mobile.
I think the should but not take any liberties other than making it easier to use on a touch screen. Right now I only have a model device and I've been itching to have something fun to play
LETS GOOOO
There was a fallout 1 version on mobile called vault 13 but I think it was removed a few years back
DayR survival is a free to play sample of how it could work
I wonder how difficult it would be to port the og games as a rom to run with mobile-friendly console emus? It seems like it'd be possible
Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics should be remade in 3d and a mobile release of the originals should be released next to the console remakes.
Interesting idea and may have some merit to it. However personally I will never play classic fallout on a phone because I still have a flip phone. But like I said I do like the idea.
I recently jailbroke one of the New 3ds' and found out someone made a port of Fallout 1 on it. It is difficult to play but it is do-able.
I think it would be neat
I got my games at pawnshops and Walmart growing up. Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare, GTA 4, and Fallout 3 I got. I miss playing CoD4. I don't want to play Fallout on mobile.
I think it's a bad idea overall.
It would change the experience way too much. Fo1/2 are complex games, and you have to read the manual. With all the options, buttons, and controls, it would be a nightmare to get it to work for mobile in a decent way. You would have to simplify too much and ultimately make the game much more casual. It just wouldn't be the same.
I just think the graphics and gameplay would need such a radical overhaul to work on mobile, as the original game has really big maps with very small details to select. Not touch friendly at all. It would end up being a completely different game and defeat the point.
I think making it a mobile game would force developers to dumb down the mechanics too much. Making it a PC game with visual updates and some quality of life features would work well if Bethesda contracted another studio to work on it that has experience making isometric turn-based RPGs.
I played through fallout 2 on an android device using an emulator.
Yes!
YES THEY SHOULD. Although they should be at least co produced by some of the original crew like Tim Cain.
Personally though, I would love to see them remade in the 3D style. Even if it was a fan project, as a Fallout fan I really want to enjoy the first games but I can't enjoy the gameplay.
I mean you can already play fallout mobile, it’s just I play the old games on steam deck.
a mobile release would be neat
For the love of god please make fallout 1 and 2 available for mobile
I play it on steam deck pretty easily
I think Bethesda shouldn't be the ones to overhaul FO1 & 2. I would hire the modders, and full on AoE2 the thing.
I thought they already did.
I hate to say it but it is probably unironically the only way to return to the previous form of gameplay on a new installment.
Bethesda doesn't deserve to touch the old fallouts.
They don't deserve to touch Fallout
Most satisfying comments ❤
No reason for this especially because obsidian has already fallen, I’m probably one of the biggest fallout fans of lore and history of the games and everyone involved, so on, and Bethesda did not ruin fallout, that’s a really weird take that had gained traction and “facts” to support it but have always been a bit skewed and mainly just about shitting on Bethesda, I don’t care to teach like three viewers the history or to even debate right now but. Bethesda didn’t ruin fallout they very much saved it, we wouldn’t be talking about fallout if not for Bethesda, Bethesda created the most fallout-y fallout with 3, it literally had everything. Nuka cola, super mutant threat kidnapping people, Water issues, GECK, Enclave, Brotherhood, the dark and gritty aspect of fallout.
I’ve done massive amounts of work to make the most accurate representation of when the largest changes to themes and setting took place and that large change happened simply under the classic games. Fallout 3 was so true to the first games It was nothing but the first two, while new Vegas was the fallout 2 to fallout 3’s fallout 1 it did not keep the wacky and often times insanely silly aspect that fallout 2 had that was responsible for much of the theme changes throughout the game but instead made it an optional aspect of the game. If new Vegas was to be true to fallout 2, then all ww encounters should’ve been base game.
None of this is even talking about the downfall of the franchise throughout games like tactics and brotherhood of steel, people love to praise OG fallout in an idolized false way. Loving the first two but acting as if the games after weren’t real.
Fallout would’ve been doomed, and taking the anti Bethesda video title and using for my own I’m sure you’ve seen:: Black Isle never understood fallout.
neither does obsidian.
@@Vityaz-of-Rushalf of these kids never would have heard of fallout if not for fallout 3. Just turbonerd lore freaks and Redditors spinning shit online
how bout instead of phone we do it for pc and console just saying it makes more sense
it's just too risky
I think hardcore fallout fans would take the time to learn how to play this clunky game, but that’s not a wide enough audience for them to want to do it. I mean, they proved that their goal is to widen their audience rather than keeping their loyal audience happy with their release of F.O.4. If they thought making 4 more of an FPS than an RPG, and did not respect lore
Of all honesty I'd much rather play it on PlayStation and Xbox.
if anyone has the power to recreate fallout 1 and 2 from the ground up, then what's the point of putting it on a fucking cell phone. That shit doesn't make any sense. Besides, if you think that fallout 1 has a hard time conveying information to the player, then it'll 10x times worse on mobile, not to even mention how fucked the resolution will have to be. Like, you cant just put baldurs gate 3 on a phone, theres simply too much shit going on for a device with the controls on the display
Some ported games don't fit well on mobile devices (Phones, not tablets). Bully, KOTOR, XCOM. Just feel clunky.
Fallout would be perfect though. It is essentially point and click and doesn't require fast reaction times.
Just reskin diablo immortal already
Fallout 2 isn't possible to remake in the 2020s without tearing out its soul. The sheer edginess and 80s-style exploitation themes would mean having to absolutely gut many situations and several important locations to make them 'acceptable to modern audiences' - i.e. to fall in line with the death grip politcal interests have on the entertainment industry.
already exists thanks to our russian friends
Everyone knows the classic fans will hate it regardless of how much they try to cater to the original design 😂. Blame No Mutants Allowed 🤷♂️
Im no nma user but you can’t blame a small minority of people within an already small group that is nma for the classics getting hate. Yes their are some people in the nma community that may turn people away from classic fallout because of their behaviour but most nma users are very welcoming and open to new fallout 1 and 2 fans.
If they were gonna remake Fallout 1/2 I would want them in first person Fallout 3 style. Couldn’t care less about isometric turn based.
No, you do NOT want zoomers devs touch the glory of Fallout.
This, it would even be full of microtransanctions and all that stuff
@@lechuzaarg2404 i was more thinking about what you can do. They removed a looooot from the steam version already. More will be removed in a 2024 game.
Kill children? Cant do that.
Become a porn star? Cant do that.
Having gore? Cant do that.
Be a bad guy doing evil things? Cant do that.
Join the Master? Cant do that.
Expect F4 if they release it.
@@lechuzaarg2404i dont think microtransactions would be a thing that devs want to impliment but rather is usually something shareholders and execs want.
Reimagined for modern audiences (whoever that is)
Sometimes I think ... maybe the Brotherhood was right.
Too much of the content would have to be changed, or risk the wrath of the Woke.
Classic Fallout gatekeepers fail to mention how much they themselves hate how hard to navigate and broken the games are
Fallout 2 is alright, but fallout 1? Completed it once and I never want to go through that ass pain again.
And we all know Fallout Tactics is the best game in the franchise
Just use the Enhanced Editions of Baldurs Gate 1 & 2 and Planescape Torment as the blueprint. Fallout 1 & 2 Enhanced Edition, done.
Y'know? I always thought that it would be a great idea to put those game in phones, literally has everything to be a mobile game, but I understand why some people wouldn't like it that much.
