Hi Lee, I'm almost 65, and my musical world completely changed in the early 70's when I heard Pink Floyd and Genesis. I also fell in love with this Supertramp album in 1974, every track is great. I hope you will one day react to "Rudy" which is my absolute favorite. Their next 2 albums ("Crisis? What Crisis?" and "Even In The Quietest Moments" also contain gems. Have a nice day.
Me too! I'm 63 and was introduced in '74 to Yes, Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, among many others... and, of course, Supertramp. I agree with everything you say.
60 here, but along with Led Zep, Steely Dan and the Stones, you named all of my prog loves. Supertramp is no unique - Lee should definitely finish this album.
Hide in Your Shell and Asylum would be a 5-star doubleheader. Rudy - a chef's kiss! Same with Dreamer. I will say it again - this album contains the very best of Supertramp. There are other great Supertramp tunes but this album is outstanding from the drop of the needle to the dead wax.
This tour opened with Rick Davies playing this harmonica line behind a closed curtain. As the curtain slowly opened the guitar faded in and when Roger began singing they were full opened. The show finished with Crime Of The Century and as that harmonica line played the curtains closed…. Total class act Supertramp.
Great stuff.. I saw them in Edinburgh, '74 and '77... they were very particular about people keeping quiet while they played - hell, I don't blame them!
Lee, you commented on just how good these guys sound together. But they had the good fortune of hiring two of the best engineers/producers in the business. Ken Scott worked on 'Crime of the Century' and Geoff Emerick did 'Even in the Quietest Moments'. Both men worked under George Martin at Abbey Road, contributing to The Beatles music dating back to the beginning around 1963-64, and Geoff Emerick was the primary engineer on 'Revolver' and 'Sgt. Pepper', for which he won a Grammy in 1968. I believe that was the first time the Grammy's included the engineer category in their annual awards show. Just another example of what a landmark album 'Sgt. Pepper' really was and how it changed the music industry from the inside out...
This is a fantastic album! It's not a concept album, but you get the feelings of conditioning and insecurities at the different stages of life through the songs. My absolute favourite from the album is -Hide in your Shell - I may just be home from work when this goes to premier. I will run back if necessary :D xx
I have a Mobile Fidelity UHQR copy of this album, and when I use to play it, the beginning section was so realistic, that when the kid's scream right before the transition my dog would start barking.🤣🤣
Excellent album. The songs are all so unique from each other. They're so very creative. I love them so so much. I would blast Breakfast in America in the summer while baking in the sun in the front yard. Fun times.
Requested this when I first got here! Yay! My second from Supertramp was Even in the Quietest Moments. Glad you’re playing this, even though you forgot me requesting it over and over LOL! ☮️💚🎼
One thing that needs to be said about this album and song: the recording quality is outstanding. Not quite the level of Aja, but pretty close. The song is an audiophile’s dream.
There is something about listening on vinyl to certain albums that are even more special than others , and this is one of those for me. Always was a great test for hifi back in the day. Still an immaculate listen today , essential prog listen and IMO the perfect gateway into the genre for a newbie. It never dates. Just superb. 😍🎵
Rudy is my favourite from this album. It was playing when I went over the Golden Gate Bridge. Will stay with me forever (I’m from London) has lots of bits and then the middle takes off!!
Thanks, L33 - "School" is probably my favorite...(such a fantastic build-up.. production sounds like something Alan Parsons would have done) "Logical Song" pretty close second.. enjoyed your reaction, as usual! P.S. putting in a request for "Rudy"... That could actually be my "second place" - hard to choose with this band!
YAY **Supertramp** along with **Led Zeppelin** & **Pink Floyd** & some others Taught me a LOT about **Life** from the age of 8 some even younger & i **Luv** them **Forever** & **Thank** them tremendously for it! **RockON!!!**
Love this album, and School is a favourite track from the album for me. Love that piano solo, but the interweaving of sounds like the hugely reverbed tamborine, the harmonica and the clarinet with the main instruments is beautifully done.
Two things... first... now take this song straight into Bloody Well Right with no pause... makes Bloody Well that much better. Secondly, and more importantly, hearing one Supertramp song from their earlier albums makes you need to hear more. If you want to hear them at early prog, listen to their first two albums, Supertramp and Indelibly Stamped... yet 2 more albums with different sounds for the same band. Love your reactions and your honest feelings on the songs you react to.
'School' segues neatly into 'Bloody Well Right.' Back then bands crafted the order of their tracks on albums to convey moods or tell a story, so you should listen to them together even if you don't share. This track is all about conformity in the state school system in England (see also Pink Floyd's 'Another Brick in the Wall'). Things loosened up in the 1990s, but in the last decade they've put it all back and are turning out depressed and angry students again.
just saw online that drummer john barbata passed away. i know you like csny. he played on the live album 4 way street. also played with the byrds and jefferson airplane and jefferson starship. maybe think about doing a reaction to one of the songs he played on, as a nice tribute to him. check out his wikipedia page for albums he has played on. thanks!
I know by now im getting redundant but this was another concert down in Philly Spectrum i seen when people talk about greatess album this has to be there i use to have a master recording of this but people my age (71) know you use to loan out your albums to friends but sometimes you didnt get them back.
This is a great album, but my favorite is Breakfast in America. Even in the Quietest Moments is great too. For some reason I could never get into their Crisis? What Crisis? album
Breakfast in America was their most successful album and it's good, but this album is my favorite!
Same here.
I think it’s there best. I love breakfast but it’s very poppy. This is more rock, which tickles my fancy more
This is Supertramp at their best. Crime of the Century is brilliant.
Love the School intro!
One of all time best albums in history of music. Amen!
School is kind of thrilling, but short. It seems to be a precursor to The Logical Song… I love Roger Hodgson.
Thank you, Lee and Linda.

67....same! 😊
Same here - fave band territory. On 8-track tapes, back then (ka-chunk!)
60 here, but along with Led Zep, Steely Dan and the Stones, you named all of my prog loves. Supertramp is no unique - Lee should definitely finish this album.
The unsung hero of that song is that baseline pounding underneath
And best scream transition ever!
Hide in your shell for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Hide In Your Shell" is my fave from "Crime of the Century". An excellent album!!! 😊

I saw them live in Seattle 1977! I sat 6 rows back! Complete FIRE!
Great stuff.. I saw them in Edinburgh, '74 and '77... they were very particular about people keeping quiet while they played - hell, I don't blame them!

I love Supertramp. I can't think of a bad song by them.
And you haven't even touched the other of their 4 great albums "Crisis What Crisis?". Love this band,, and love your reactions.
Child of Vision is a must from Supertramp
One of the best song of Supertramp🤘
School is my favourite Supertramp track, but the whole Crime of the Century album is a masterpiece.
There are some great video's from a concert they did in France well worth the watch to see them performing live!
Supertramp was a huge part of my Spring and Summer in 1976!
🎶✌️🫴🍁🎶
I have no problem with you doing Supertramp everyday they are timeless quality. Rudy is a massive track but work your way to it.
I don't care what anyone else says, Bloody Well Right is the greatest B-side of all time.
Supertramp - Nobody But Me
Supertramp - Cannonball
Supertramp - Don’t Leave Me Now
Supertramp - Child of Vision
Supertramp - Breakfast in America
Saw the Tramp four times in the 70s. Brilliant shows ✨️🎶✨️

My absolute favourite from the album is -Hide in your Shell - I may just be home from work when this goes to premier. I will run back if necessary :D xx
Love this song so much. And I love how that bass guitar line makes it really move when it needs to.
Love this entire album!!! Just throw it on and go!!! You’ll love it! Fond memories of jamming loud on the way to school my senior year!!❤
Love the Master Of Reality shirt in the background
This song .... Live in Paris .. !!!!!!!!!!!!!
This album is excellent and worth listening to.
Saw a real early concert of this tour at the Chicago Theatre. It was fab.
I have a Mobile Fidelity UHQR copy of this album, and when I use to play it, the beginning section was so realistic, that when the kid's scream right before the transition my dog would start barking.🤣🤣
In the seventies, stereo systems were very popular! The album, Crime of the Century, was used to demo stereos in stores!
Goodbye Stranger!
BEST SONG BY THEM !!!!
‘Rudy’ is really good.
Está , esta banda entre mis cinco bandas favoritas de todos los tiempos
Just awesome.... And Supertramp did ok too! 😂😂😂
Rick and Roger sing on their own songs. That's why Roger doesn't play Rick's songs on solo tours.
Awesome song! Crime of the Century In my top 25 albums. Peace. 21.0
One thing that needs to be said about this album and song: the recording quality is outstanding. Not quite the level of Aja, but pretty close. The song is an audiophile’s dream.
Supertramp Paris Live got me through my runs between the FL Panhandle and NoVA.
The great David Sanborn is featured prominently on Roger Waters' solo album "the pros and cons of hitchhiking".
RIP

That moment at 7:08 when it all comes together. I bought the album for "Bloody Well Right," but "Rudy’ was the mindblower for me.
Great song, great band! Next, check out Goodbye Stranger, released in 79. ✌️
Rudy is my favourite from this album. It was playing when I went over the Golden Gate Bridge. Will stay with me forever (I’m from London) has lots of bits and then the middle takes off!!
Played the hell out of this album. ❤😊
Oooh, this makes me so happy 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏.
Next please do Rudy, and then all the rest of them, lol ❤❤❤
My favorite song of theirs and I don’t know why I haven’t listened to it in years…
Thank you!

…….Master Musicianship ❤️
Love this album, and School is a favourite track from the album for me. Love that piano solo, but the interweaving of sounds like the hugely reverbed tamborine, the harmonica and the clarinet with the main instruments is beautifully done.
Brother Where You Bound, featuring David Gilmour on guitar!
This song is Supertramp's "Stairway To Heaven"... There, I said It.
Two things... first... now take this song straight into Bloody Well Right with no pause... makes Bloody Well that much better. You stomped on the climax of the song!
Fuck Yes!!!!!!!!
Great song
I hope you're doing the whole "Crime of the Century" album, it's brilliant and every song is very good. I know you will love it, thanks L33!
Keep on with supertramp
'Logical Song' and 'School' are my Trump favs. Agree about how well they integrate prog and pop. Great musicianship.
You did it again Lee. Made me question if I was actually there in the 70’s. I owned this album but cannot remember this song????? So good!
No bad songs on that album mate.
KEEP GOING! Crime Of The Century is ABSOLUTELY worth a complete listen. Breakfast In America is Supertramp light compared to this masterpiece!
Crime of the century, Rudy, and Fools overture would get my vote
'Crime' was their apex. Can't remember if you've covered 'Rudy'. If not, you've got a treat to come.
The album needs to be listened to as a whole to fully appreciate each piece of the album. The album Crime Of The Century is beyond masterpiece

this album was their magnum opus
When I first heard this I wasn’t listening to the bass for some reason. But man, great bass right here!
Supertramp were kind of second-generation prog. This is easily their best song.
Did you say, “ very soundski? 😀. 💪 album.

David Sanborn
Didn’t know RIP
@@markoliver630 Sadly, yes. He'd been battling prostate cancer for a number of years.

Lose your Supertramp Virginity, play this album front to back.
You talked over the payoff line.
This is a great album, but my favorite is Breakfast in America. Even in the Quietest Moments is great too. For some reason I could never get into their Crisis? What Crisis? album
I hear some Pink Floyd in this.
You know what Mike...you are so right. I didn't catch that but there is definitely some floyd energy here.
@@L33Reacts But only on the dark side of the moon, on the light side of the moon it just doesn't work.
Arghhh you spoke over the last line....noooo
"You're comin' along"... I know.
Rudy from this album could be the best. Isn't the future great?
