They create great tension and then resolve it so beautifully.

This is one of my favorite songs. Especially like the piano parts. That funny guitar sound was Roger Hodgson's "Wah-Wah" pedal that he used to make the fast sort of "choking" sound. It was actually used mostly in the 70's. (I don't remember hearing it at all in the 80's). This album was released in 1977.

This is old school progressive rock. The album was intended to be listened to at one sitting, each song fading into the next with no real breaks in between. Crime of the Century wasn't as big a commercial success as Breakfast in America (The Logical Song) but is, in my view, far more interesting. That said, to each their own. I'm glad to see you exploring the roots of contemporary music. Makes us old farts feel relevant again.

Yes. This dark album clashed with the Vietnam War. Without the Vietnam War, half the song is missing.

Glad to see your reaction. When Supertramp is on stage the Shhh, Shhh is Roger's voice. John Helliwell played a clarinet in this song.

for this guitarist lyrics are just disturbing parts of a °song" and a good opportunity to talk about this and that......

I could see you got caught on the opening chord structure on guitar. Love that walking bass line by Dougie Thompson on the bass for the last parts of the song. Check out Rudy, from the same album. This band is awesome.
