A note of caution for New/Young anglers - Most of those Lines are well "Over Gunned" (above the test curve) for light rods (like a Match type or light to medium Feeder Rod) and a decent Fish, will break such a rod quite easily !! 🎣🎣 (Been there, Done That !!)

Agreed. You dont need line with those breaking strain for trout. A tippet in fly fishing is on average around 3llb

I use Temu Fluorocarbon-Coated Nylon - As a match angler quality line is paramount and when comparing it to 'Big Brand' names it's as good as if not better. Try telling that to a 'Tackle Tart' and they won't believe you.... Just because it says Lidl on the box it doesn't mean it's cheap and nasty, it could well be made by a reputable company and just branded as Lidl....

Good points 👍🏻 I haven't tried any tackle from Temu yet although I am tempted!

@@PhillWyattFishing It is hit-and-miss with Temu stuff as in some items are amazing and others not so much, I have bought a few things from Temu and overall it was good, the rod and reels are rubbish to be honest.

These seem to be a great option at a good price for backing line for braid.

Hi Phil. Sea fishing line tends to be bright colours so that it can easily be seen in a torch beam at night. Lidl could really use someone who's experienced in uk fishing to help them. Most of that line will not find favour with british anglers because of the colours and excessive breaking strains. If you want cheap line thats ok, check out the fladen bulk spools in Boyes.

Thanks for the info. I don't live near the sea so I rarely do any sea fishing. I thought it might be useful to demonstrate tying different fishing knots on videos as it's thick and brightly coloured. Yes it's a shame they sell such high breaking strain lines as most are not necessary in the UK. Still I think it's so cheap that it's worth trying to find a use for it. I currently use the blue and green lines. They seem ok.

Thats quite a good idea. Having said that the green is a very similar colour to some Berkely line from a few years ago and there are loads of brown lines its just the blue and yellow and the breaking strains that won't be popular. It might be worth testing it for diameter and actual breaking strain. I worked in the tackle trade up to 2019 and used to test a lot of tackle, line included. You might be shocked how bad some of the most expensive line is and how good some of the cheaper products come out in comparison.

@@timothyridge6136 I agree with what you said about some expensive lines being poor and some cheap lines being good. I have used expensive line with low diameter which tends to curl up quite a lot. I have used super cheap line that has done well. What it says on the product about the breaking strain can sometimes turn out to be inaccurate.
