The same why is he still alive.
Though science has studied him and they say it's his special genetic make up that has saved him!
      Most would be dead now.
But Ozzys genes kept him alive.
      I remember reading about it.
I'm not sure if that was the time when they found out he had Parkinson's 2????

In the first "Iron Man" movie, starring Robert Downey, Jr., they used the Black Sabbath song "Iron Man" over the closing credits. Ozzy, Tony, Geezer and the dude from RATM on drums. Live from Australia. From the same show I would recommend "Fairies Wear Boots".

One of the most iconic heavy metal songs. Over 50 years later and still continues to inspire generations of rock bands and teens to get into the world of metal ahd hard rock. Did you also notice that Tony plays guitar with what looks like thimbles on his fret playing hand? He does that because back when Sabbath was formed he had an accident at his workplace where his fingertips of two or three fingers were severed. He had to tune his guitar strings down so he could literally feel the music creating the foundation of heavy metal. The song Iron Man has nothing to do with the superhero. The whole band was amazing, but the member that tends to get overlooked was their original drummer ( unfortunately he didnt play on the last tour or album) Bill Ward. Check out a live performance from either the late 60s or eariy 70s for Sabbath and you'll see what i mean. I'd put him in the same class as Bonham, Moon and Ginger Baker from Cream, who you just recently checked out.

The song and comic aren't related. The song is about a time traveling iron man who tries to warn people of the apocalypse, but they don't believe him. So he kills them all, bringing forth the apocalypse he tried to warn them about.

( even Ozzy calls him that), for recovering from 1) losing the tips of three fingers on his right hand aged 17 , 2) a near fatal car crash at 19 and 3) two different forms of cancer in his 60’s. You know, I saw them back in 2012 at Download and was somewhat underwhelmed, and this was back when they were on the beginning of their long farewell. This one definitely has a lot more energy, even for being a little slower and in a lower key to account for Ozzy's singing voice (always somewhat limited) being significantly weaker than at his peak. Lyrically it's a sci-fi story with Christ undertones. It's literally about a man who traveled through time to prevent the destruction of mankind and was turned to living steel in the process. Back in the present after saving the world he is forgotten, mistreated and abused and fills with anger until the point he destroys the people he once saved, fulfilling a pardox wherein HE is the evil that threatened mankind to begin with. It's a potent statement about the inherent selfishness and darkness of humanity. The protagonist is never stated or intended to be a pure or selfless person. But he did not KNOW this about himself. His flaws were buried. It's a trippy as fuck 60's drug fueled vision of a normal man thrust into this savior / Christ role he was not prepared for and succumbing to human weakness. A perfect illustration of both the inherent light and darkness of humanity. XD
That's the STORY of the song. In reality...it's obvious they were talking about the veterans of the vietnam war. Many left homeless, hated, ostracized by society. "iron men" hated, ignored, mistreated and abandoned by the people they once saved.

The way Ozzys voice aged, is a blessing when it came to Sabbath. The shaky and decrepit feel almost fits Tony's sludgey tone too well.
Try Snowblind, Live, Gathered in their masses in 2013. It's hands down the best live performance of that song

Sealand is actually the smallest country in the world. It's a oil platform that is its own sovereign nation. Even has a educational system and it's own currency. It's a great story. They started it as a radio station because rock and roll was illegal to play on the radio. (Or something like that) it's been years since I read that story so I may have some facts mixed up. Worth a few minutes to do some research.

While this is awesome, the original studio version with Iomi making the Iron Man sound with the guitar will always be my favorite
