1970... I am 16 years old at the "Strawberry Festival" in O.C. Calif.. and saw this band live. After doing a show in San Diego, on the bus to L.A. they were told about the festival, so they stopped, seeing a stage Ozzy Volunteered to play a couple, they had the guitars and a drum kit was there... So.. Unscheduled, unannounced, unexpected. Black Sabbath did.... "Iron Man"... "Paranoid"... "The Wizard"... "War Pigs"... to about a crowd of 5,000.... It was awesome. Right place at the right time.
Black Sabbath has MANY outstanding songs within their catalog of music. True Legends and pioneers of metal that virtually every band thereafter were influenced by
I was a kid and heard this on my dad’s vinyl album and I was hooked! They were absolutely the forefathers of heavy-metal but their music was so heavily influenced by jazz and blues music. This was one of those bands that everyone came together perfectly and it was once in a lifetime and it changed everything. 🤟🏼
For people that dont know this song about a guy that travels back in time to warn people that a person made of steel will kill everone. But they dont listen and soon he becomes the person he was warning them about by kill people. If you want to know more then you can search it up.
This was played on the jukebox all of the time at the diner that my friends and I hung out at as little kids. Pinball and Iron Man! Electric Funeral was on the b side of the 45 record.
You should also check out some Deep Purple from same era, "Hush" would be a good place to start. Nothing like the 70's, never will be again, we were spoiled with awesome music.
One of my favorite things about watching Reactors... is smacking you up side your head with a song like this and seeing how much you enjoyed the experience. We both are smiling after, and I get to keep the video... Cool
The typical process for a Classic Rock band is for a member to have a concept for lyrics and write something they believe will be a hit song, or make a statement without much concern for hit value. (Lennon-Dylan-Others) Then they will start playing the basic cord structure and develop the melody. Usually the Rhythm Section is established first with the Bass setting what the Drummer follows with beat and fills. Guitars/Keyboards/Others are added on the foundation with each member adding what they feel is right for the song. OR... it is the guitar riffs/keyboard melody that everything is built around. Most importantly it is all real musicians playing real instruments. The end results sometimes are songs like this one. The level of musicianship is exceptional with the best of the best groups. They earned the recognition they now receive from us very grateful fans. Why we call it “Classic Rock”
Gotta do war pigs next !! You’ll love it even more. (Dont do the music video as its too distracting from the music) just find a video with the album cover or lyrics. It amazes me what some reactor’s find Idek where u got this video with that cover art of not even the actual band lol so heres the link for war pigs : ua-cam.com/video/bYgpv5clf3Y/v-deo.html
My Friend, you just added another name to your AWESOME PLAYLIST. that belongs there as much as any other Classic Rock group ever. Black Sabbath set the table for all that came after them... trying to be them.
Iron Man is one of many Sabbath classics. Sabbath is huge rabbit hole, tons of classic tunes. I would suggest War Pigs (studio version), one of the greatest anti-war protest songs ever. Then Hand of Doom, another great lyric (Geezer, the bassist, wrote most of the lyrics). Hand of Doom also swings like crazy, awesome drum song, their rhythm section can swing like crazy. Also hear the War Pigs live in Paris (1970?) for very intense live version (early wrong lyrics). Hard to describe Sabbath briefly, guitarist Tony Iommi is the "riff master", the inventor of heavy metal, the musical leader & main composer. Bill the drummer is a monster hard player and swings hard too. Geezer is legendary bassist and one of best lyricists ever. And their singer is Ozzy Osbourne btw, who had a real gift for melodies and super unique powerful voice. Best advice, listen to their first 6 albums all the way thru.
You did a great job of describing them, I'll give it a simplistic go. The greatest Riff guitarist ever, the greatest bass player ever, the god of all drummers and the 2nd greatest front man ever... Freddy Mercury existed after all
Remastering is also sometimes used as a way for a band to reclaim ownership and more of the royalties (subject to their record deal) it also resets the copyright that lapses at 50 years
You should try the song Black Sabbath, it's the first song on the Black Sabbath album. It starts out like an old Horror film and kind of slow but then it goes into good old Heavy hard rock.
Glad you liked it. Ozzy's one of my favorites. Not only was he in Black Sabbath, he was also part of Black Label Society. Most people only know him from his solo career. I don't remember seeing you do Crazy Train. If you haven't, you really have to do that.
I saw them in 1972 in a small auditorium in downtown Kansas City, Kansas. Tickets were $5. No one really knew who Ozzy Osbourne was back then. These guys "pioneered" heavy metal rock. No one before them had even dreamed of making those sounds.
@@AliasMark69 Of all the generations, the Baby Boomer generation (IMHO) was the greatest. We got to see TV's go from B/W to color, man landing on the moon, playing outside on our bicycles all day, parents who didn't have (or want) a clue on how to control us, police that poured out your under-aged liquor rather than arresting you, and of course the most incredible music ever invented. Sample some Black Sabbath. Instant hit, instant new genre. There is a treasure trove of funky, heavy riffs in those days, especially with the English bands. Don’t know why no one has done that. I have two black mates in London, brought up on Motown and reggae, then I introduced them to English early 70’s rock, they now love it and have for years. Music is no discriminator,it loves everyone.
Black Sabbath were an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1968 by guitarist Tony Iommi, drummer Bill Ward, bassist Geezer Butler and vocalist Ozzy Osbourne. They are often cited as pioneers of heavy metal music. The band helped define the genre with releases such as Black Sabbath, Paranoid and Master of Reality. NOBODY has ever done it better.
It’s always a safe bet to listen to the original version instead of remastered. We all fell in love with the original. Also, when reacting to a live performance, it’s better to watch it from the era that the song was recorded instead of many years after. You want to see the musicians in their prime
I forgot what a mess it was at the end guitar wise...but it's cool that they just left it how it was...the immediacy of it is what is golden...they are gods
Im not familiar with the album cover vs the original this song came from. Back in the olden days. Pink Floyd Led Zepplin Deep Purple and Black Sabbath were the go to rockers of the time.

Remastered means modern technology was used on older recordings in an effort to improve the sound quality.
Much like Zeppelin, Sabbath is a 3 Man Band with a vocalist who plays Harmonica. Massive talents.
what are you talking about 4 member guitarist Tony Iommi, drummer Bill Ward, bassist Geezer Butler and vocalist Ozzy .
You missed my point the vocalist in most songs doesn't play an instrument, all the music is 3 guys.@@428chase
@@428chaseExactly. As was Led Zeppelin, also a 4-piece band of course
