Corlys more than showed he was worthy of being hand of the queen. They showed he commands respect at Rhaenyra's war council. He controls the largest fleet, he's fought in wars, he's traveled the world, he sat on Viserys's small council and was a prominent member, he's the grandfather of Daemon's daughters and in name Rhaenyra's sons. He's the obvious choice. There's no reason to question the decision to make him hand of the queen.
You're right he is the best person for the job, but that's not what we were saying. The main issue we had is he didn't do enough in season 2 and his character felt left behind compared to everyone else. Yes, you can take what he did in season 1 as an example of why Raynera chose him. However it feels like the show runners didn't know what to do with him until 5 episodes in.
I think they're dragging this Deamond hallucination plot too much. I agree with your point that Daemons character is usually a mystery. Look at the battle at the stepstones. No one knew what he was up to hence the disagreement between Corly's and his brother. I also hate that they're making Raynera into this docile character. She lost her daughter and her son because of the Greens and she is not angry as a mother. The first emotion felt of loosing a child as a parent is RAGE. Sadness sure but mostly rage. Look at Cersei in GOT. She was angry when they killed Jeffery that's more realistic. I need her to burn shit down.
Very much agree with you when it comes to Raynera. She's becoming very passive and is not really carrying the same momentum as was promised in the last episode of season 1 where she was super pissed that her son died. She became someone who really didn't want to go to war. Which can still work, but I don't think it's proven to be as interesting as of now.
