@@carswithluke Yeah, its so bad. People get used to ESP and TC and have no idea where the limits of the car are - add automatic emergency braking, lane assist and all othe other stuff to that and they're barely looking at the road during regular driving... Just like speed limit enforcement and speed cameras everywhere, it's just a way for lawmakers to feel good about themselves through useless things.
Its not about safety, but about money. Milking the car enthousiast by enforcing pointless technology inside the car. As for example, the new a6 have 3 screens ffks!! What is the point having 3 screens in your car.😭
The fact that you have to essentially attempt to “reboot” the car like one does with a computer should tell everyone cars just aren’t what they used to be.
Modern day car safety logic: let's introduce a system that warns you each time you go 1 km/h above speed limit but, at the same time, let's also allow car makers to pack all of the car settings in huge screens that will force you to take your eyes off the road every 30 seconds. This is just ridiculous.
You can thank the EU for the Speedlimit Thing. Sadly to see that over time more and more of these "laws" gets imposed on our lifes no matter if we want them. As you said, maybe the way forward is to go back to older Cars. I don't like being told what to do in my car and what not, if that means I have to drive an older car then be it.
No, you can thank the people who drove to fast, forcing the EU to create a regulation. Same goes for the cookie thing. Some people just ruin things for everyone else.
Even the cars are telling Porsche they have a malfunction with the new 992.2. If they are not going to come standard with analog gauges then perhaps an analog package or option is in order. I would select any options to reduce the amount of new electronics interference! Hopefully you made it back home safely!
Fun fact, in my new Clio i have a button wich specifically allows to turn off both speed limits and lane keep assists with just two clicks. At least Renault acknowledge that this new rules are non sense and all manufacturers should do the same...
Swiss, by far has the worst leading class. Someone truly enjoying screwing up people. Green light, last if you are lucky 1.5sec - total BS, trust me I drove all Swiss month ago. Speed limits in the city between 40km-30kkm and changing every 100-200m *poor people living there. On the highway, 80km to if you are lucky and guy in the office is in a good mood 100km, but for a km or two - total joke. O yes, there are cameras everywhere, total control ... plus the weather is almost like in London, just more expensive...

Zuffenhausen is currently sweating bullets b/c there is literally zero interest from current 718 owners to potentially preorder the upcoming EV version. Oh boy…
Also, 718 also has diminished interest and value because of 4 cylinders. The GTS 4.0 being the exception. I bought a 981 CS last year and see no point in “upgrading”. Passed on a GTS 4.0 allocation. It’s not 2x the car. An EV Cayman/Boxster would have no purpose for me. EVs can be fun, but are more utility and depreciation is godawful.
I'll be keeping my 2010 987.2 Cayman S, as I don't want to drive a washing machine with 4 tires. The Cayman and Boxster will be dead if they don't offer a flat 6 performance version, they are a drivers car.
@@carswithluke they might find 20 rich middle-aged white woman that want one, but other than that I see absolutely no market for that car and good luck reselling it if you get one, I really wonder how they do their market research. Same thing with the start stop button and the digital gauge, all they needed to do was to ask 10 enthusiasts and the'd have known that it was a bad idea
Sadly, I'm not surprised by this. I own a 2022 992, which has been a total nightmare since I first sat on it: door panel noises, roof noises, dashboard rattles, power windows failing, seatbelt warning going off all the time, suspension replaced, and, worst of all, an unsolvable and irritating exhaust vibration noise in low revs which has driven me insane and taken away the joy in driving the car (for which Porsche told my dealer " if it isn't fixable, tell the customer it's normal"). Who would imagine that for a 911 at €160k? It's not news to any Porsche enthusiast that the company is heading down the same path as Boeing: betting on low-quality build and cheap materials while borrowing on the brand's equity to sell at sky-high prices. It's surprising that, for a company that has flirted with bankruptcy twice in the last 30 years, it can take its eyes away from consumer experience and feedback and focus on minimizing operational costs while maximizing share price. I've owned a few different Porsches by now and can attest to two things: the make isn't the same, and it's getting vertiginously worse quickly. Unfortunately (or not), I can now "relax" and accept that my desire to buy new Posches is gone. My love for the brand will remain true to a part of the company's history where the things they used to make were the true definition of precise German engineering: driver-focused, down-to-earth, simple, and great.
Sorry to hear you've had such a bad experience. Mine has been bulletproof and the odd rattle or squeak on an uneven road I just accept as being part of sports car experience. I'd swap for a different car if I was in your shoes.
@@atom999 Thanks for the words, @atom999 would you mind sharing which version of the 992 you own? (PS: my dealer has been trying to convince me of swapping it as well)

Modern cars are just undriveable with the constant warnings, sounds, interference, "safety" features and cheap electronics that no one wants. There is no escaping the speed warning issue as its now mandated by eu psychopaths. New cars are not desirable anymore, just look for nice second hand ones without the irritations.
The thing is that manufacturers decided that now everything needs software. And that software is done by a contractor in some third world country with cheap labor costs
There has been for some time a determination to destroy the German cultural identity, economy, reputation, efficiency, to assist in forcing socialism from the UK
German Engineering never meant good, it meant overcomplicated and overbuilt product with not so impressive adaptability under real world conditions, except the first two qualities are sometimes exactly what customers need. Nice video, Luke. And I am with you; certain key features of a 911 should not be changed. I don’t like the full digital dash either and the loss of starting the car with a key is just sacrilege. That starter button looks so cheap.
I can't imagine they passed the savings of not having a key on to the customers. Porsche has gone the way of Apple. Rich kids will pay any price to be inside one and the core values of the company are fading away. Sad I feel!
THANK YOU FOR making my 992.1 manual transmission with a turn-key starter and an analog tachometer Targa even more valuable. (Of course, YOU didn’t do that. But thanks for the video!) It’s funny: My dealer texted me this week, asking me to sell the car back to them. It’s a good cash offer. But naaaaaah.
Just a few notes. You can turn off lane keep with a button on the cruise control stock, and you can assign the joker button on the steering wheel to turn off speed warning. And the car you drove is basically the same car as 992.1, just with bigger turbos, a bigger intercooler and some tweaks. It has a 3.0, not a 3.6 like you said. The new 3.6 is exclusive to the new GTS.
I'm glad to see you sharing both positives and negatives. Your videos on the 992.1 were always very very positive so its good to see that you provide the negative feedback when Porsche deserves it.
@@VaporEG at that price you are between 30-50k more expensive than an M3/M4 if you want the creature comforts. If you want performance you’re around a used Ferrari 488 with 20-40k km, at least in Switzerland. While you are talking an older car, you really can’t compare lol (in a bad way for the 992.2). If you want to stay with a Porsche you can get a lightly used 991.2 GT3 or a 992.1 GT3 with a bit more kilometers. I know Porsche is Porsche but for me they are veering away from what they used to be. Market is cooling off and these cars will be selling significantly under list momentarily.
@@carswithluke I have the same feeling since I started looking for a new daily earlier this year. I have moved away from a new car because of the amount of technology that is involved.
@@carswithluke it’s a sad moment really, I was finally in a position where I could buy a NEW Porsche and allocations have been so gummed up at the end of the 992.1s but now with the onset of the 992.2s, I simply have no interest in a new Porsche anymore. HOWEVER… I just bought myself a used, manual 2018 991.2 GT3 with ~3k miles. About as close as I can get to the new-car experience and my hero car has not disappointed.
@@jaminthomasDon't blame the taxes. EU prices were similar to the US ones during the previous years in most countries. It's just lately that Porsche blatantly stated they'll increase profit margins. We're seeing the results from that. And it's not like the 992.2 isn't also overpriced in the US compared to previous generations.
As an employee in a german porsche center, this makes me nervous. The calls I will get about this, oh God. Let's hope it's just your particular 992.2 Customers will not be happy with that price tag attached
Price, specs, interior, electronics... I'm the potential buyer, and I won't buy it, even though I wanted the new one to spec it for myself. . Will go to the used car market instead.
$217,000 is obscene for that car. If you want a new car from Porsche these days the 718 GTS 4.0 is it. Feels like a 997. So simple, so pure, so perfect in all of the ways that matter to a driver.
997 and 986 generation have too many issues. 718 4.0 is great, but I went with the 981 S, sounds better to me and half the price..£35k for full options and low mileage.
YES!!! I picked up my '24 'T' last month and am SO Happy with the actual tachometer, stick-shift, raw/classic 911 driving experience. Knowing that twist-to-start action is also gone makes my mechanical 911 the last of the legends.
You can turn off lane assist by holding the lower button on the cruise control lever for a long time. You can assign the audible speed limit warning to the configurable button on the steering wheel. You don't need to use the menus. The speed warning is a legal requirement.
Summed it up perfectly with the half Taycan comment. Sadly lots of new cars are going this way. The digital dash is a single reason not to buy new for me. Electronics age badly and always will do. I hate all these screens and lack of actual buttons. The fact you have to do a little dance to remove all the annoying bongs when you first get in is the icing on the cake.
Not just regarding porsche, but have we had any cars, post pandemic that people are generally excited about? 😢 cant think of any.. Seem like brands focus more on ‘promotion’ of the product rather than the product it self
Kind of sad actually.. Porsche has adapted to the EU laws, not like a choice here but they have also adapted to the new customers which many of them do not know how to properly handle them... therefore this kind of safety message on wet.
Yep it’s crazy, my drive was just mostly notifications, as if I had never driven a car, too all the fun away and so irritating. Not sure who these are for anymore, not us petrol heads anyway.
Suggested pricing is insane. You can get a 650S and 8 years of extended McLaren warranty for that (and will be depreciating a lot less). Or at least a GT product.
I own a 2022, 992.1 convertible. As mentioned here allready by many others, the quality of this car is a catastrophe. Noises in the doors could be fixed, the noises in the dashboard remain. The tail lights filled up with water frequently and had to be changed 4 times, the last change had to be paid, since the warranty time was over. After 10k km the cooling system was broken and had to be replaced. The guarantee (2 years in Switzerland) had just been over, so I had to pay over 1k CHF (Porsche paid 50%). Every Korean car has a 10 year warranty and a Porsche for 170k CHF only 2 years! I own also a Ferrari Portofino, the quality is much higher. After several Porsches, this is definitly my last one.

Last week I took delivery of my brand new 2024 992.1 Carrera T. Manual, Slicktop, AeroKit. Figured that is was smart to get the last real 911, and keep it for life.
Swizterland is like 100% rain this Summer, nuts. I truely feel your frustration. Had the same issues with a 992.1 C2S in the winter. Every couple of minutes a warning for road conditions or sensors not working due to dirt. Reason to buy the new on is, to have a NEW one and configure your dream Porsche.
I just got myself a 2018 991.2 C4S, fully loaded and I couldn't be happier. It's going to take a lot for me to get into a 992, just feels a bit souless to me. Doesnt sound as great, not enough things to press and twist, and I'm so done with everything digital. I've got that in my E53, that's more than enough.
Can't you tie at least some of those tweaks to "Individual" mode? I have my individual set to turn off auto start/stop and turn on my sport exhaust with the twist of a knob.
What a crap experience. We rented a VW EV for a European road trip last month, and I had to turn off numerous nanny settings every time the car restarted. An instant deal-breaker for purchase. This leaves a huge market space for a brand that treats its customers like adults.
This was an insightful and refreshing take on a modern car. Too frequently people just praise and praise without any real substance but nice to see us analog lovers still exist.
Great, high quality video as always, love watching this and STG on a Sunday afternoon. Would be good to see you and Sam from STG do another video together, doing a Coffee run and talking about how your new Porsches broke after a few miles… 🤔😂
I was eager to see what you think about this car. As a full time porsche enthusiast you opinion means much to me. All in all you said exactly what my vibe was already.
Owned 992 gt3 pdk, had it for 3 months and had problems with front headlights, front lift and replaced front right wishbone AFTER 3 MONTHS! Returned it to dealer told them I want to sell the car, they gladly sold it for me. I could have gone somewhere else and sold it for more and maybe pocketed 20k, wanted to keep good relationship with them you never know if anything interesting in future comes out. But honestly the newer cars are quite dull, soulless even, facelifts don’t look newer anymore and you only see cost cutting methods with newer cars. I think sweet spot currently is 991.2 for a modern porsche, 997 beautiful as well but is getting quite old especially pre facelift
Savagegeese reviewed the hybrid GTS a few months ago… that thing is video game fast 🏎️ 💨 But ffs, $200k???!!! Porsche pricing is now beyond ridiculous, even if it’s a relative bargain compared to a Ferrari. Guess I’ll be happy with my Mk7.5 Golf R with a stage 1+ tune which is already plenty quick.
Thank you for an honest and refreshing review. Sad to see Porsche seems to be cost cutting and price gouging all at once. Sadly the phrase “you get what you pay for” is less and less true these days.
Not that I am important at all to Porsche. However, I have owned 4 in my 50 plus years. I sent them an email complaining about the new cars they are producing. The numbing of everything that makes them what they used to be. I am never buying another new 911 , Cayman or Boxster. Like I said , they don’t care. But I made my thoughts known.#Porsche
as a 991 gts owner who gets 992 as loaners during maintenance, i can say that i couldn't agree more on the loss of DNA despite the gain in performance (which cannot be exploited anyway).really hope porsche will listen and walk away from they overal user interface which is,even in a cayenne, pretty poor
I bought a 2024 C4S back in April. Sold it yesterday. The total roar of road noise was exhausting and actually gave me a headache and made my ears ring. I bought it on a whim after a group of us rented 911's at the Porsche factory in Germany. I guess the roads are in better condition in Germany and I did not notice the noise as much. I already also own a 2022 Audi RS3 and the specs are actually very close to a 911. All the fun and much better on long road trips. Sorry but the 911 is not worth an extra $100,000.
Porsche peaked at 991 Lambo peaked at SV and STO Ferrari Peaked at Speciale and TDF After these cars i have no desire to pay and absurd amount of money for a bunch of batteries, screens, rev limiters and speed warnings, if you're not a billionaire to buy a Manual CC850 or Utopia, forget it, buy yourself an 997 4.0 an a Manual LP640 and be TRULY happy
I totally get many of your points, but Porsche has thought about a lot actually. For example: The wet mode warning can be deactivated in the settings, although the wet mode is really really reasonable to set in the wet, as the rear axis has a bigger width and therefore the 911 is way more sensible to wet roads as the front tires tend to push the water to the rear axle. The wet mode also enables the spoiler for lower speeds.
Can confirm (as others have) that it's an EU thing. My wife got a new Peugeot company car and while it's very nice inside and out, I've yet to figure out how to turn off the "Intelligent Speed Assist" (i.e. the annoying chime when you go 1kph over the limit.) If you think that's bad, check out the law that mandates an in-car camera to see if the driver is distracted, and the best of all - emissions regulations that will require Lambda == 1, which will make getting performance out of cars as we know them very difficult. Insert conspiracy theories here... 🙂
I share Luke`s frustration 100%. One thing are the new "laws" which - if you apply the same principles to the seatbelt, would automatically belt you in, each time you step in the car. The other thing, and this is the true disappointment from Porsche`s side, is the bad execution. The UX having to go through the menue each time and literally forcing the client to push three menue levels to get to the lane assist, speed Warner...is a pathetic, non-caring and simply dumb, non-through thought way to harass clients. Why cant I program on "individual" my personal settings with lane assist, speed Warner off? Yes, every time I start the car, but ONE button. I am sure that if the law allows it to turn-it off principally, it does not impose: make it as complicated as possible. On my Cayenne e hybrid, why does the chassis change EVERY time when go from e to hybrid to sport? why can I not set in drive the chassis in low/sport plus as default? Makes no sense. And here comes the sad conclusion. Dear Porsche: no, you will not impose on us this nonsense. People will simply not buy the cars anymore, because what you do is not "education". Your are telling us what to do even if it makes no sense, or even jeopardizes "safety". But definitely, you are killing one key part of you DNA: freedom and the joy to drive your cars. Your are annoying us every time we sit down in your otherwise amazing cars. Reprogram the electronics, perhaps it may make sense to ask your customers
I think for a new and base car it sounds quite fruity, and the annoying beeping reminding you of your speed is a new law i think. If i had the choice tough I would always take the 992.1
It has some noise for sure and still better than most other new cars. As for forced the speed alarm I’m still unsure, seems very over the top and yes 100% 991.1 👌
Great video. Question is will you feel this way about a GTS or Turbo S? At my local dealer, the queue for both the 992.2 GTS and Turbo S is at least 18+ months out. The 992.1 Turbo S market for a 2023 or 2024 is still way above MSRP. Not sure if the 992.2 GTS or Turbo S will depreciate right off the lot like other cars but time will tell. Really enjoy your videos.
Thank you! I’m really interested to drive the new GTS and try the hybrid, let’s see! I feel that this new tech is a big point to stop people upgrading now, less than before anyway, I have never seen so many displeased comments on a new Porsche like this before anyway.
I imagine in the future, a big part of "car modding"/the tuner scene will involve re-flashing the factory ECU to get rid of all those stupid nannies - I think I would go crazy if my car auto-enabled start-stop and those speed warnings every time I started it.
I made a video on my channel saying that the reliability of the 992.2 would be atrocious. I meant it about the GTS and all of the other hybrid variants but I didn't expect that the Carrera would lead the way!!. The older 911s will just keep going up in price, the new fancy 992.2 would depreciate like a rock
Digital everything for the ipad generation, they're forgetting the target market of these cars- that design would enrage the porsche fan base/real buyers. 991 OR 992.1 ALL DAY.
The quality of 911's has sadly declined. I have had 5 911's, including 997, 991 and the current one is a 992.1 4S. So far, the parking camera wiring failed requiring rewiring all the cameras in the car, which took over 2 weeks to diagnose, order parts and repair. Most recently, a fuel line started to leak that required the engine to be dropped and a new line replaced. This took 4 weeks to order parts and install. I only have 4500 km on it. So this does not bode well for the 992.2.
Thanks for an honest opinion. I am wondering why only Mercedes managed to put a shortcut for switching off this idiotic speed warning thing on top of their big tablet and driver's makes such as Porsche could not. They do researches and surveys their customers so they know what we would like from a driver's car, don't they?
@@carswithluke yes, it is a law but I’m not sure if it has to be some number of clicks. Look at Mercedes. Just one click on top of the screen. If I would to buy a 2024 car I think I’d code the system to remember my setting and loose the warranty for the infotainment system. It is a pains to hear the beeping all the time because in my country the speed limit recognition system is always wrong (speed limits are cancelled after every crossing which no system can understand).
Just finished my vacation and didn't have time to unpack my suitcase and every time that car starts beeping I am feeling my washing machine wants to tell me something😂
Hiding the option to turn these alerts off somewhere in the settings is just plain dangerous. You have to take your eyes off the road for so long to turn them off…
The price of a new base model Porsche with some options ticked will get you in a low KM 991 GT3 RS, a 992 GT3 or an SLS if that‘s what you‘re craving for (I am 😄). It‘s mind bending. 911 pricing and secondary market prices for fairly standard modern Porsches is weirdly high for some years now and you wonder who pays that. But when driving trhrough the roads of Zug, Schwyz or Zurich you realize there seem to be plenty of people willing to do so. PS you might be able to program the quick access diamond button on the steering wheel to turn off speed limit warning. Works on the 2024 cayenne if I‘m not mistaken.
I certainly relate to your frustrations, Luke. I have to disable multiple nannies every time I get into my modern Japanese SUV. At least with my 981, I only need to disable auto stop/start! I hate manufacturers’ obsession with digital and touchscreen displays. They’re not just ugly and cheap-looking, they’re dangerous because you have to look at them as you’re driving to operate basic functions. I hate the bastards. Great video, Luke (no surprises there)!
Yes, the stupid ISA Euro thing in any new car, except some rare excluded cars, as the 718 GT4RS/Spyder RS. Especially when it detects the wrong speed, it gets dangerous.
Thank you for your honest report! I was born in 1963, just like the 911. I'm not sure if the new digital world is right for sports cars, or if the pace of change is just too fast. The Porsche 911 is a car for enthusiasts, and you should never take away the feeling of sitting in a pure sports car. If that feeling becomes like sitting in an SUV, what’s left for the driver? For me I will stay with 911.2 model. And buy a preowned with less kilometers on it if I will change the car. I feel the prices of the preowned market will go up in the next years....
These electronics are killing the sports car. The added weight and complexity, the necessity of having to dive deeply into menu systems to adjust or cancel these nannies and all the warnings take away from a car that should be merely used for the enjoyment of driving. Porsche, now more than ever, need to make a 993-sized 911 again.
Man thats too bad. I wish that automakers stopped their facelift/new version strategy and continued producing models such as the 992.1 with proven success!

Even the cars are telling Porsche they have a malfunction with the new 992.2. If they are not going to come standard with analog gauges then perhaps an analog package or option is in order. I would select any options to reduce the amount of new electronics interference! Hopefully you made it back home safely!
Indeed, the 991.1 GTS is great and without all these annoying things. Otherwise I would go 991 GTS.
Somebody in porsche HQ just read the comment and added a USD 9.000 analog package to the configurator lol
@@SH-ly1uy Easy add on that one. Let’s hope you are right!😂
Fun fact, in my new Clio i have a button wich specifically allows to turn off both speed limits and lane keep assists with just two clicks.
At least Renault acknowledge that this new rules are non sense and all manufacturers should do the same...
Very good to know, the French don’t mess around 😄
That's brilliant, and unless it's a stupid safety law, the car should persist your selections between drives.
I’m so glad you mentioned all of those annoying things about the car; looks like the 991.2 and 992.1 base are the way to go!
im so fed up by youtubers army of "yay sayers" ... that praise EVERY car, every time.
just so car makers keep sending them cars.
Thought the Speedlimit warning was a new EU law, i guess Swizerland just applied it to them selfes😢
Sounds like Switzerland, they probably invented it 😂
Same as here in the UK, we also get it as manufactures don’t make cars for specific countries.
cheaper for the manufacturer
Swiss, by far has the worst leading class. Someone truly enjoying screwing up people. Green light, last if you are lucky 1.5sec - total BS, trust me I drove all Swiss month ago. Speed limits in the city between 40km-30kkm and changing every 100-200m *poor people living there. On the highway, 80km to if you are lucky and guy in the office is in a good mood 100km, but for a km or two - total joke. I drove in many county's but Swiss one is by miles worst ever for normal drivers. O yes, there are cameras everywhere, total control ... plus the weather is almost like in London, just more expensive...
@@davewestrup2420 of course they do, they need to meet local regulations or they wouldn't be able to sell them. Those features can be coded in and out depending on the market. It's just a choice they've made.
Zuffenhausen is currently sweating bullets b/c there is literally zero interest from current 718 owners to potentially preorder the upcoming EV version. Oh boy…
Pff yeah I can not see a big market there for that, could well be the end.
Agreed. As a 2017 718 S owner, no plans to upgrade any time soon. Very happy with my reliable, analog car.
Look how many Mark-1 Panameras are still on the road. They've all gone! Too complex, too little water-proofing, too hard to keep running.
Sorry to hear you've had such a bad experience. Mine has been bulletproof and the odd rattle or squeak on an uneven road I just accept as being part of sports car experience. I'd swap for a different car if I was in your shoes.
My 992 Turbo S has been perfect, haven't experienced anything like what you're talking about.
@@atom999 Thanks for the words, @atom999 would you mind sharing which version of the 992 you own? (PS: my dealer has been trying to convince me of swapping it as well)
@@KandiMan thanks, and it could very well be an exceptionally bad luck with my 911, which does not negate all the other aspects of what I think is happening with Porsche as a whole...
The value of these just plummeted, thanks for the honest review.
I remember when the term 'German Engineering' was actually associated with a good feeling...
The thing is that manufacturers decided that now everything needs software. And that software is done by a contractor in some third world country with cheap labor costs
Like the Porsches from 1942… oh wait
There has been for some time a determination to destroy the German cultural identity, economy, reputation, efficiency, to assist in forcing socialism from the UK
German Engineering never meant good, it meant overcomplicated and overbuilt product with not so impressive adaptability under real world conditions, except the first two qualities are sometimes exactly what customers need. They always fail hilariously when ze parghameterz are nicht in range but they go around fastest on Nurburgring.
@@user-cr4sc1ht9tso you know each and every german car since 1886 and they were all bad. Just because they were german even if the founder F. Porsche was austrian. Interesting...
After this thing your car should well be more valuable! Don’t upgrade 😅
Feels like just another very annoying modern car to say the least..
To say the least indeed, a Porsche never annoyed me so much like this one.
A new Porsche is kind of like that Father Ted episode, “Careful now! Down with that sort of thing!” 😂
So good 😂 I grew up watching that show.
I suddenly feel happy to drive my 997.
Same for me with my 991, feels extra special now starting it up and just driving.
I love my 997 more than ever before. It’s a shame that this world is coming to this digital place.
Best generation ...
I'm glad to see you sharing both positives and negatives. Your videos on the 992.1 were always very very positive so its good to see that you provide the negative feedback when Porsche deserves it.
For the first time I feel they push too far in terms of price. There are too many solid alternatives in my view, that are cheaper.
Such as?

Yes! Sat here this evening feeling like news cars have finally come to an end.
@@carswithluke I have the same feeling since I started looking for a new daily earlier this year. I have moved away from a new car because of the amount of technology that is involved.
For me it’s in fact 997.1 the peak of the water cooled gens, 997.2 => ugliest lights ever, 991 -> much better and after that it’s going “downwards”.
991-992.1
Now they are too expensive and loaded with all the regulation equipment.
188k CHF for a base 911?! Is Porsche going nuts with his pricing?
Slightly!
Yeah. Porsche prices have gone up across the board. But the tax regime in Europe effectively doubles the prices compared with North America. Crazy!
In Finland it is approx. 209k€. Maybe even more.
As an employee in a german porsche center, this makes me nervous. The calls I will get about this, oh God. Let's hope it's just your particular 992.2
Customers will not be happy with that price tag attached
Price, specs, interior, electronics... I'm the potential buyer, and I won't buy it, even though I wanted the new one to spec it for myself. . Will go to the used car market instead.
$217,000 is obscene for that car. If you want a new car from Porsche these days the 718 GTS 4.0 is it. Feels like a 997. So simple, so pure, so perfect in all of the ways that matter to a driver.
Yes the Cayman platform still feels nice at least and remained high quality, if you want a 911 then 991 or 997 for me.
997 and 986 generation have too many issues.
718 4.0 is great, but I went with the 981 S, sounds better to me and half the price..£35k for full options and low mileage.
I don't understand how they had a meeting at Porsche and decided this was the best thing to do
Genuinely...which idiot comes up with these rules and who approves them? These politicians arent ruling in favor of the people with common sense
Yes it’s an interesting topic how and why this really started…
Speed warning put off funtion sequence you allocate to your free installable button on the steering wheel. Will make your life easier.
That is a very good tip! Will try it next time. Even though still annoying and have to do lane assist and start stop after.
Isn't lane assist an option? At least if you configure it yourself you could skip it. Is it the option active lane keeping or a warning sound?
@@carswithluke indeed annoyed but the law. The amsterdam porsche dealer told me this tip.
@@carswithluke Lane assist can be switched off by pressing the small lower button on the Cruise stalk for a few seconds. ;-)
Can you save those settings to your key setting? (If you have the memory seats).
So glad I got into a 992.1 Carrera T before these changes were put in place. I feel like it’s the last 911 with a bit of analog life in it
Agreed!
YES!!! I picked up my '24 'T' last month and am SO Happy with the actual tachometer, stick-shift, raw/classic 911 driving experience. Knowing that twist-to-start action is also gone makes my mechanical 911 the last of the legends.
Ditto, but I’ve only got 4k miles on my 992T. Hoping the gremlins don’t show up on my 911.
Completely agree about having to manually disable the “ Nannying” settings each time you switch it on- TRULY RUBBISG- Great review
This is not 3.6 as you say it is still the same 3.0 as 992.1!
Yes, Corvette C8 Z06 and ZR1.
Thx being honnest about these new 911 Luke. I am done buying new cars now. They all lost their souls.
Really did, say here this evening asking myself if it’s finally come to an end for nee cars.
It seems that marketing and accounting staff finally took over at Porsche.
They’ve always been that way at Porsche.
As a Porsche owner and enthusiast, this new Porsche breaks my heart.....
Suggested pricing is insane. You can get a 650S and 8 years of extended McLaren warranty for that (and will be depreciating a lot less). Or at least a GT product.
yep. or anything from the astons line up from 2018-2012.

That I totally understand! Your facial expressions said it all, never seen you less impressed with a Porsche model due to tech & changes.
Lol ,and they told me when i buyed Chines car 2 years ago as daily driver that i am crazy ,they say me "BUY GERMANS!!" ,but i already have 2 BMWs with constant problems ,if its not that i like how they look would ditch them long time ago .Bought Chines car as daily driver ,7 year warranty ,2 years for now ,no single problem, and has every gadget like BMW for 1/4 off price .But Germans now copy Chines with all that screens and beeping ,at least in my Chines car i can turn that off AND IT STAYS OFF
Interesting video, definitely not worth a buy with all the electronic systems
Not for me personally
Exactly why the 991.2 is the sweet spot IMHO
There’s going to be a booming business for people offering flashed ECUs to get rid of all this crap from cars in the future, and I’ll be an enthusiastic customer.
Last week I took delivery of my brand new 2024 992.1 Carrera T. Manual, Slicktop, AeroKit. Figured that is was smart to get the last real 911, and keep it for life.
I know the title will get more attention, but the you put it highlights everyone’s feelings at the moment: The way forwards is going back.
Perfect! I would love myself a nice spec 991.2 GTS as an everything car, looks and sounds great also.
Can't you tie at least some of those tweaks to "Individual" mode? I have my individual set to turn off auto start/stop and turn on my sport exhaust with the twist of a knob.
What is the point of 0-100 in 3 seconds when it takes 20 minutes to switch all the nonsense baby-sitter shite off 🙂
Beautiful review, many thanks.
I’ve never experienced such sadness watching your videos. But I hope your honesty may inspire Porsche.
What a crap experience. We rented a VW EV for a European road trip last month, and I had to turn off numerous nanny settings every time the car restarted. An instant deal-breaker for purchase. This leaves a huge market space for a brand that treats its customers like adults.
Very much!
Haha yes sounds like a fun video to make!
So glad I got the last 2024 - 911 version before the 992.2 came out.
I was eager to see what you think about this car. As a full time porsche enthusiast you opinion means much to me. All in all you said exactly what my vibe was already.
Thanks, yeah was a weird one taking so bad about a new Porsche, going downhill!
Yes for 200k I take a supercar!
Thank you for an honest and refreshing review. Sad to see Porsche seems to be cost cutting and price gouging all at once. Sadly the phrase “you get what you pay for” is less and less true these days.
Love when people make up laws because they know what you need more than you!
I’m so glad my Ducati doesn’t bark at me!
I like the sound strangely better with the window closed! And its sound basically really good for a normal Carrera!
Yes same, nice induction.
991.2 was perfect
Yep and still is 👌
that speed warning is outrageous- I sold my 992 a year ago- the technology in it was horrible. I'd rather own one from the 1980s
WOW Luke, have never seen you so disappointed and frustrated reviewing a car. But i totally agree with you !
Yes was a weird one, feels like the end of new cars.
My exact thought too!
Can't wait to see you test the new hybrid 😂
😂😟
I'm really curious how well this car is selling in both the US and the rest of the world. Have any sales figures been released? Great, honest review.
Thank you for the honest review. I am keeping my 992.1!!! 😂😂😂
Good choice 🫡
Rauten Taste am Lenkrad kann man belegen mit akustischer Tempowarnung 😊
Porsche peaked at 991
Lambo peaked at SV and STO
Ferrari Peaked at Speciale and TDF
After these cars i have no desire to pay and absurd amount of money for a bunch of batteries, screens, rev limiters and speed warnings, if you're not a billionaire to buy a Manual CC850 or Utopia, forget it, buy yourself an 997 4.0 an a Manual LP640 and be TRULY happy
well said "Porsche peaked at 991" It is my view too
This is one of those cases where a .1 is actually the one to go over a .2
Regulations and tech killing the new cars for us petrol heads 🥲
Feel the same about the Start-Stop-button. The first I do in my 992.1 GTS as well. Cheers to you, mate ❤.
Yep! 992.1 is a keeper now, 992.2 if you fancy some nice depreciation. Cheers!
@@carswithluke yes I do agree about the new tech especially if you need a checklist of things to disable every time you get in the car.

This is interesting, I now also heard they made it the law to be 3 click in to turn it off, the plot thickens 🤔
Haha, so a new 911 is like a washing machine then these days 😅
Hiding the option to turn these alerts off somewhere in the settings is just plain dangerous. You have to take your eyes off the road for so long to turn them off…
Exactly, I spent far too much time looking at notifications and setting than anyone should.
5:20 isn’t the base model 3.0 lt?
Yes sorry was my bad for day dreaming about the GTS when I said it.
Happens when in a 911 :) Btw I am waiting for a new GTS allocation, I am looking forward to watching your video on it as well!
The montage at the beginning had me shouting that does not look like the styling cues of a Porsche!!!
Looks like a lot of short cuts
The interior does not excite me maybe just use to the echelon of the 911 series
Agreed! Never thought a time would come when they get worse.
Bizarre that a sports car is telling you to be 'careful' - is this the future?
More gizmos just means more potential issues - cut the gadgets and cut that crazy price!!
The modern Land Rover operating system rates your driving at the end of the journey. Very creepy.
