Infinite was Eminem's debut album.
Documentary 🤝
Documentary didn’t have a major impact but i’ll be damned if there’s any skipable tracks, i can play it front to back
Ken is right about the Snoop anticipation off of The Chronic album. It was all Dre at first, but as time passed and it really sunk in before Snoop's own album release, it was Snoop that had the momentum. His debut showed that all across the US. Even to this day, it's fresh in my memory how much it was played and the sound of it. His debut was tha shiznit!
Impossible to do a top 5. Too many great albums if I had to choose
My favorite: college dropout, section 80, get rich or die trying, ready to die, the documentary
The best: illmatic, ready to die, reasonable doubt, college dropout, get rich or die trying
For me, Illmatic, Ready to Die, Reasonable Doubt, Cuban Linx, and College Dropout
The best debuts... Chosing only five is hard...
Capital Punishment - Big Pun
Dr. Dre - The Chronic
Nas - Illmatic
Reasonable Doubt - Jay Z
Ready To Die - Biggie
Honorable Mentions:
...Entroducing - DJ Shadow (Such an important album bringing Instrumental/Trip-Hop to a new level)
Doe or Die - AZ
Operation Doomsday - MF Doom
Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space) - Digable Planet
Doggystyle - Snoop Dogg
I have so many man, but honestly this is a great topic. I have a ton of debut albums I love...
Nas - illmatic, Redman- Whut thee Album, Raekwon- Only Built for Cuban Links, Snoop- Doggystyle, Big Daddy Kane - Long live the Kane!!!
I would switch out Redman and Big Daddy Kane and put Kanye West - The College Dropout and Mos Def - Black on Both Sides
I still go back and listen to Reasonable Doubt all the time. For me that's one of if not the most timeless Hip Hop album that you can listen to at any moment or time. When it comes to the best and what meant something to me personally, reasonable doubt trumps anything else.
This album is the beat album I've ever heard bro...

Mostly, New York bias? Not mad. New York had so many influences, but California (As a whole), Memphis, Houston, Chicago, ect got some heat too. A little Detroit too.
@@tellmesomething2412 New York is the birthplace of hip hop so of course the albums are gonna be from their. And these are the strongest debut solo records in the hip hop cannon.
Not in order:
1. Ready To Die
2. Illmatic
3. Reasonable Doubt
4. Its Dark and Hell is Hot
5. OB4CL
I thought people in groups were left off. I had to change my list
Glad someone gave it's dark and hell is hot a pick. Love this project
Great list, but I’d swap dmx for doggystyle. But other than that mate, big boy list! 👊🏼

ODB - Return to the 36 Chambers
Raekwon - Cuban Linx
Brotha Lynch Hung - Season of the Siccness
Eminem - SSLP
ODB was so unique and unorthodox no one can pull off his flow
@@swagboyme Yes, i've always said it: Odb was a true genius
Sslp is eminems second album
Its Dark and Hell is Hot
The College Dropout
Reasonable Doubt
Ready to Die
Illmatic
Der Messias SOLID
Agreed
Jason Madden only one I would change would be DMX. No shade AT ALL, I just don’t resonate with his music like that. I was born in 97, but at the end of the day I don’t know what I would switch out with that album. For that reason, it’s solid. I’m sold on the others too haha
1. Lupe Fiascos Food & Liquor
2. Illmatic
3. The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
4. Ready to Die
5. 2Pacalypse Now
So happy Lupe was slipped in at the end, F&L is my #1 album of all time.
Mine too. It's such an amazing album
@@laneyj It might be the only album I've ever listened to were every song is at least 8/10
Muddy Waters is one of my all time favorites and it ran through my head as well and I had to remind myself they said debut.
These dudes went 6 minutes and 46 seconds before saying Illmatic...Sheeeeeesh!
Reasonable doubt probably my favorite album of all time
The College Dropout
Edit: BEEZY U MY GUY
Kid Cudi - Man on the Moon: The End of Day
Scrolled way too far to find this one

Mos Def - Black on Both Sides
Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt
ODB - Return to the 36 Chambers
Man i love ur guys channel, i just discovered it but im in love, just real guys talking about real hiphop
I hope y'all mention kanye at least somewhere, cause even with the controversy behind him. He changed the game on how the culture portrays hip hop with the college dropout .
Big faxx , he at least has 3 classic albums
M C how the fuck does #1 song not mean blowing up
M C what you mean outside?
@M C hip hop image used to be portrayed about the gangster lifestyle, guns and stuff. When kanye dropped the cd he legit reinvented the hip hop landscape. Chance the rapper bases his whole career to the college dropout. 80% of rappers are influenced by the what the cd was
Blu & Exile - Below the heavens
MC lyte - Lyte as a Rock
Lauryn hill - The Miseducation of lauryn hill
Kanye West - The College Dropout.
Illmatic
Lupe Fiasco Food and Liquor
Ready to Die
Reasonable Doubt
College Dropout
Big Boi - Sir Lucious Left Foot
To this day I still blast this album at least once a week
Twista ADRENALINE RUSH!(he may have one before this)but from start to finish it's a definite classic and he made everybody wanna rap fast.👌
There is no top 5 hip hop debut without 50's Get rich or die trying, nothing was bigger than 50 when he came out.
That's commercial success though, not quality of music. He was propelled by the machine and his debut was good, but that's it.
how did it take almost 7 minutes for someone to mention Illmatic
its just too obvious
Probably because there’s a difference between best album and best debut album. You put that constraint on it then the thought process a little different
Plus, you know how these niggas do. Once they start down a path they could go on forever about one thing lol
@@chrisjfox8715 well, if it's his debut album AND the best album, then it's clearly the best debut album... you follow?
@@GarrettAbbey well some of them don't consider it to be the best hip hop album
De la soul- 3 feet and raising.
You know when a good friend moves or gets super busy in life and you miss them? That's how I'm feeling bout Feefo
Now we gotta do top 5 debut rap albums from groups.
36 Chambers - Wu
Instinctive Paths - ATCQ
Southern - Outkast
I'm surprised Sun Rises in the East wasn't brought up, that album has no skippable tracks and is a legit masterpiece IMO. Jeru is one of the all time greats and DJ Premier was at his peak.
Thats one of those albums thats easily forgettable then once you remember you're like Shiiiiitttt.
If Illmatic isn't number one then this list is invalid.
No cap
Prepare your ass because pablo shut up
I like music that have me in a good mood!...make me wanna dance!....#1snoop doggystyle
#2 ready to die. 3 reasonsable doubt
@Prepare your ass because pablo are you high?
@Quique Ackerman you aint hip hop then
Black Moon - Enter da Stage
Outkast - Southernplayalisticcaddilacfunkymusic
Just trying to name off some they didn’t bring up
Neither of those are solo albums
Enta da stage is the shit bruh
If it was group albums included, I would put Heltah Skeltahs Nocturnal up there
seth m yeah my bad hopefully they do debut albums in general soon great video as always DEHH!
Scarface the goat
WOW, I did not expect to hear Casual - Fear Itself. I bumped that album all the time.
I was HOPING someone was gonna mention 'Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous'. Thank you, Myke! To me, that's the best debut album of all time, from top to bottom.
