@@tmasiah Yea nothing that good came out from the more mainstream rappers besides Igor, Rap or Go to League, and Revenge of the Dreamers 3. Even the grammys kinda struggled this year, they nominated 2 albums that came out in 2018.

I see that Rapsody's album didn't make the list. Not because I wanted it to, though I think I understand why. Because for me, only a select few from that album got replay value for me. It was definitely not an album I went back to. Laila's Wisdom set the bar WAAAY too high. To me, Laila's Wisdom was her "Cuban Linx" and Eve was her "Immobilarity." That's just me though. Dope vid. 👍👍👍💯💯
Great lists guys. Now I have more new albums to check out. The only thing that disappointed me is that no one had Rapsody. Here’s my list: 10. Griselda - WWCD 9. so interesting how their tastes are similar enough with 2 or 3 albums in everyone's list yet different enough where they would disagree in parts on placement in a longform conversation. this is why i love these guys and their dynamic together.
I mostly listen to Black Metal, Punk and Goth. I found out about this channel from watching Myke's videos. For the last 4 years I have checked out your year end best of videos and got every album listed. it has become my link back into hip hop and these albums have become the soundtrack to my kitchen. I cook and listen to all these albums. Just sharing. Can not wait to check some of these out.

I like Ken's honesty in this episode and I get where he's coming from. I personally feel when u are a "critiquer" of musiq, you have to always challenge or check urself and ur own biases. Sometimes it's easy to get caught in the mainstream vs underground trap, that kinda alters our perception of how we view the music whether good or bad.

I'm on Ken side on this to a degree the mainstream more top tier artists wasn't very good, the albums i was excited for such as School Boy, and Big krit both didn't hit the mark for me. when i was stoked for those albums

I usually don't agree with Ken but I get his point and his right. If you are a person who listens to mainstream hip hop and you think about the albums that dropped in 2019, I don't think you would consider it as a good year. There's just a few big names that dropped and thats it. There wasn't enough noise for me to consider it a good year. Now when you step out of the mainstream, its a totally different story. And I think thats what Ken is referring to.

Glad to see Your Old Droog being mentioned, "It Wasn't Even Close" was in my (general) favourites of the year. So was both of the Billy Woods's albums, JPEGMAFIA's "All My Heroes...", FG&ML's "Bandana" and Conway The Machine's "Look What I Became".
veseli klosar I thought Conway dropped the weakest solo project out of the whole crew. I wanted to like Look What I Became, but it left more to be desired.

Noise Kandy 3 really does live up to its name. I came across it a few weeks ago and have not stopped listening to. Hopefully Rome Streetz blesses us again this year
I gotta agree with Ken. Not a great year, but a lot of really interesting and unique albums from a lot of independent and underground artists. My top 10 of the year is: 10. MIKE - Tears of Joy 9. DJ Muggs & Mach-Hommy - Tuez-les Tous 8. Maxo Kream - Brandon Banks 7. Little Brother - May the Lord Watch 6. Billy Woods & Kenny Segel - Hiding Places 5. MAVI - Let the Sun Talk (mixtape) 4. Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - Bandana 3. Blu & Oh No - A Long, Red Hot Los Angeles Summer Night 2. Quelle Chris - Guns 1. clipping. - There Existed An Addiction to Blood The top 3 means a lot to me. IMO this is Blu's best work since Below the Heavens. This album reminded everyone he is one of the GOAT's of his generation. This is also my fav Quelle Chris solo album, and I think its his best album as an MC, where as before I always kinda looked forward to how other people would rap over his productions. Also, clipping.'s last 2 albums prove how truly talented they are. IMO all their previous releases were a little hit-and-miss, but now they literally revived sci-fi Hip Hop and horrocore with their last 2 releases. Now that's talent.
Mine is 1. A quiet farewell, 2016-2018 2. Igor 3. Let the sun talk 4. There existed an addiction to blood 5. Bandana 6. Nothing great about Britain 7. Hiding places 8. Guns 9. Uknowhatimsayin 10. Ginger

@@juicykisses78 I mean you responded
2019 was not a really good album year as far as the mainstream artist
They dont pick many mainstream but it wasn't many good albums for mainstream
Most years is pretty wack for mainstream artists tbh
@@joedorben3504 2015 and 2018 in terms of mainstream had the most releases that could be good.
@@traplover6357 2018 was a good year for rap in general
@@tmasiah Yea nothing that good came out from the more mainstream rappers besides Igor, Rap or Go to League, and Revenge of the Dreamers 3. Even the grammys kinda struggled this year, they nominated 2 albums that came out in 2018.

Shoutout to Rod for the quality production. You been killing it man
Did they all forget Rapsody ?
Odefe Football If it’s not on their list, it’s because they didn’t listen to it as much as the other albums on their list. And to be quite honest, as much as I dig Rapsody, Eve’s replay value is very low for me.
@@LouieV6 Sometimes they forget albums too and say it days later that they forgot.
Only person that came to truly review Eve was Myke, it's was disrespectful as a review.
Rome Streetz! "Noise Candy 3" and "Headcrack" are dope 2019 releases
They not on Rome Streetz yet. They just giving 38Spesh mentions on here. Rome has next after 38.
Myke the Kid C Town and crew back again y'all 💯
Eve album from Rapsody a top 10 album right?
Top 3 of 2019
Just discovered this channel. Super excited to watch through your album reviews! Wish PUTS final album got some love.
Lil simz! Such a dope project!
These guys are too nationalistic to include something outside the US.
Myke c town had artist in his 10 outside the us. He’s favorite artist outside of hip hop are not American artist.
Parthav Mody BRUH I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT THAT ONE THAT WAS GREAT!

Here’s my list:
10. Griselda - WWCD
9. Murs - The Iliad is Dead & The Odyssey Is Over
8. Epic Beard Men - This Was Supposed To Be Fun
7. Little Brother - May The Lord Watch

Gang Starr - One of the Best Yet
We don’t want you, we NEED you in front of the camera Modest Media!
Damn what about Danny brown 😢
Album was pretty disappointing imo
PigsAreBrutal AOTY for me, but whatever
Yeah, that album was an awesome change from Danny's hardcore stuff, I absolutely loved it, peace
NitroW To be fair, I think half of them said it was an easy honourable mention.
Yeah
so interesting how their tastes are similar enough with 2 or 3 albums in everyone's list yet different enough where they would disagree in parts on placement in a longform conversation. this is why i love these guys and their dynamic together.

Somebody deadass needs to make a gif of Ken at 9:43 ... I don’t know why I’m laughing so hard right now
Facts lol
I like Ken's honesty in this episode and I get where he's coming from. I personally feel when u are a "critiquer" of musiq, you have to always challenge or check urself and ur own biases. Sometimes it's easy to get caught in the mainstream vs underground trap, that kinda alters our perception of how we view the music whether good or bad.

I see the production and locations improvements. Great to see all your growth these past few years.
Happy to see Add-2 on here!!! Such an underrated Emcee.
I'm on Ken side on this to a degree the mainstream more top tier artists wasn't very good, the albums i was excited for such as School Boy, and Big krit both didn't hit the mark for me. when i was stoked for those albums
I agree.

10. L’Orange & Jeremiah Jae - Complicate Your Life with Violence
Where’s Gang Starr?
They had a bomb ass album
I usually don't agree with Ken but I get his point and his right. If you are a person who listens to mainstream hip hop and you think about the albums that dropped in 2019, I don't think you would consider it as a good year. There's just a few big names that dropped and thats it. There wasn't enough noise for me to consider it a good year. Now when you step out of the mainstream, its a totally different story. And I think thats what Ken is referring to.
1. Freddie Gibbs - Bandana
2. Griselda - WWCD

@@MohammedAhmed-kv6lz They are but that album just didn't appeal to them like that.

Pardon! Are you trolling me? Ive been listening to Gang starr since 1989 in fact I have every album since then and most if the 12 inches starting with words I manifest, positivity etc I was merely asking why one of the best yet wasn't on their list!
Mohammed Ahmed just the way you worded it looked like you said are gangstarr even hip hop just a misunderstanding
Dope thing about this channel is you can find new music Kuz I ain’t heard of more than half of them Albums ESPECIALLY from C town 😂

14. Vdon Willie the kid and Lil Eto - Heather Grey
15. Swank & King Draft - Two five to Jersey
Conway album could be better in my opinion.
veseli klosar I thought Conway dropped the weakest solo project out of the whole crew. I wanted to like Look What I Became, but it left more to be desired.
Conway needs to tap into that Reject 2/G.O.A.T energy

You guys are the best. Would listen to you guys talk about anything/any album.
If the background music is Beezy, that shit's tight.
Great work as always. Roc Marciano always end up on these lists every year. I’ve tried to get into his music, but I just can’t for some reason.
A South African artist on Myke's List big up to Yugen Blakrock.
Noise Kandy 3 really does live up to its name. I came across it a few weeks ago and have not stopped listening to. Hopefully Rome Streetz blesses us again this year
Thank you for the Yugen Blackrock suggestion
I didn't think this was gonna ever come outh haha
Nice lists guys!
I gotta agree with Ken. Not a great year, but a lot of really interesting and unique albums from a lot of independent and underground artists. My top 10 of the year is:
10. MIKE - Tears of Joy
9. DJ Muggs & Mach-Hommy - Tuez-les Tous
8. Maxo Kream - Brandon Banks
7. Little Brother - May the Lord Watch
6. Billy Woods & Kenny Segel - Hiding Places

4. Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - Bandana
3. Blu & Oh No - A Long, Red Hot Los Angeles Summer Night
2. Quelle Chris - Guns
1. clipping. - There Existed An Addiction to Blood
The top 3 means a lot to me.
Good lists fellas! Y’all should review MAVI’s ‘Let The Sun Talk’ before the year gets too hectic
