Fantastic video--anyone who owns a Model 3 and seeing this for the first time will be even more grateful for choosing to buy a Model 3, while anyone who is planning to buy a Tesla (me in about 12-18 months although I'll get a Y) or who is on the fence of about buying a Tesla will find this video incredibly impactful. Great stuff!
...and believe it or not, Tesla is the company taking them to the next level. That front passenger airbag was designed by them because they weren’t satisfied with the performance of off-the-shelf solutions.
The Tech of Tech I am amazed with everything Tesla does. There is so much that goes into building a car and they have managed to do it better in every way than companies that have been doing this for a hundred years.
As an engineering geek this is fascinating even having seen it before. Their simulations matched the real thing I understand. I told my dad decades ago that we'd eventually be "cocooned" in bags, taking a long time but I'll take it.
I'm glad you did, because picking the music took at least an hour alone. It's difficult to find the balance of free, right length, and right mood. I'm never fully satisfied when I put music to a video, but the was just weird and boring without *something* to listen to since the clips had no sound of their own.
The Tech of Tech oh, I’ve been there. Countless times. You definitely set the right vibe to the topic. I always appreciate your view and take on subjects. Every one is a must watch, and I’ve shared some of your vids with our Tesla Club on Facebook.
Great side and frontal results but what happens to the Model 3 if is stopped and it gets rear-ended by a vehicle travelling at 30, 50 and/or 70 miles per hour?
Yes, which is another reason the Model 3 is the safest car to buy- it has the most advanced active accident avoidance tech. Plus, as the tech gets better, existing Model 3s get the upgraded software for free. Only car in the world that keeps getting safer the longer you own it.
@@TheTechofTech Indeed. I've seen numbers like 5 or 6 times LESS likely to get in an accident while on AP already, as flawed and limited as it is. Is that true?
@@Mrbfgray that is true, but this is only if the driver is actively driving and using the accidence avoidance as a backup. Auto pilot by its self, with no driver intervention is still dangerous.
@@blackfalcon1324 Funny thing is that cars always have drivers anyway even without AP. By now the data says it's nearly 10X safer when active. In a couple yrs FSD will be better than human and on the road toward zero serious accidents. (already on that path) Then the same Nanny State minded who incessantly pillory FSD today will be pushing to mandate it for everyone all the time.
I think they're trying to recreate the crash *forces* versus travel speed or even impact speed. Fortunately, it's pretty rare for a vehicle to go from 70mph into a concrete barrier, and we might never develop the tech to decelerate a human body gently enough to protect them from injury or death.
They all contribute different data. The IIHS definitely has the reputation for having the most challenging crash tests, but EuroNCAP does a whole lot more testing of automated accident avoidance features right now.
AEB only scrubs 25mph off a collision, and it can’t avoid every collision possible. These tests are done well below the impact speed that is reasonable to occur from highway speed even with AEB doing 100% of what it is designed to do.

I found it impactful 😉
Do you have it??
We really take airbags for granted. They are pretty amazing!

@@TheTechofTech I noticed that unusual huge passenger bag! Looks like passenger better off than driver in frontal impact.
Yeah who would have thought an explosion to the face could save a person from Certain Death:D

Have to admit that the passenger airbag design is a cool innovation.
The glass blowing out in these clips is so wild!
Its beautiful to see how technology protect people lifes its wonderful how the car do all these tiny things to protect something or someone
Great recap and composition pulling all this together! Thank you.
I’m glad you found it useful!
I really liked the background music you chose for it too. Little talking, focused on the footage and stats. Very compelling production. 👍

This video increased tesla sales
It definitely should.

the fact that the big screen is still on even though the car crashes is pretty impressive!
Amazing!!! I can’t drive any other cars now that I owned a model 3! Thanks for sharing these crash tests videos!
ok Cam - you're making me want to get one! :) Thanks for the info!!
You can only resist for so long. :)
This is fantastic. Another reason to get a Model 3!
Great job giving some real meaning to what can be very boring if just read. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, Shawn!
This is only one of the reasons I bought a Model 3.
make sure to reach your door with your right hand only. This forces the driver to look for oncoming traffic before opening the door. :) happy driving
This is exactly what I was looking for. Perfect aggrigation. Too many one off clips and 2nd hand reposts.
You did your homework my friend. Great videos as always..Tesla should pay you! :)
I come here for the music and the video :) Tnx for the vid!
Thanks for watching!
35 MPH aints shit. Do a test at 65 mph which simulates more of a crash. Then see what happens
This reminds us why it's best to avoid the accident.

Great video man!!!!!
Thanks for your support as always, Darrion!
The Tech of Tech you welcome
Great results
If I were using AP at 85mph and I didn’t pay attention and hit a concrete block, will I survive? Just wondering
The car would try to stop. If you hit it actually going 85, head on, no you would die.
Rest assured you would survive in a GM or Toyota at 85 Mh.
Great explanation! I just want to know why they don’t go faster. 30-40 MPH? Why not 70-80??
I think they're trying to recreate the crash *forces* versus travel speed or even impact speed. Fortunately, it's pretty rare for a vehicle to go from 70mph into a concrete barrier, and we might never develop the tech to decelerate a human body gently enough to protect them from injury or death.
Because people will usually break before a crash. If you crash at 80 mph you are basically dead anyway.
The windshield remained intact... Try to find another crash test like that lol
Still no rear collision crash test.
No central airbags!! and 5 star!!
Is the NHTSA "independent" or part of the US government?
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is a US federal regulatory body. NHTSA.gov
Be good to do crash test where vehicle is traveling at 60 mph. 60 mph is more realistic speed when crash happens.
I trust the IIHS more over all.
They all contribute different data. The IIHS definitely has the reputation for having the most challenging crash tests, but EuroNCAP does a whole lot more testing of automated accident avoidance features right now.
Nice:)
Explain this.
How is it possible for there to even be a front collision? Is it even possible to drive the car without AEB?
AEB only scrubs 25mph off a collision, and it can’t avoid every collision possible. These tests are done well below the impact speed that is reasonable to occur from highway speed even with AEB doing 100% of what it is designed to do.
Piss stop crashing the Tesla
