They patented it; but let it be free for everyone else to use it. Anything else would be crazy. Otherwise someone else would have patented it, and then Volvo could end up having to pay them for the patent.
Marko Košir Volvo didn’t even invent the 3-point seatbelt. It was the Swedish state utility company Vattenfall that did, because of safety issues at a remote hydroelectric plant construction site. They just shared the invention with Volvo afterwards.
I literally bought myself a Volvo (all be it used, since at 23 I couldn't afford a new car) as my firs car 3 months before getting my drivers licence, because of the brands core values: Safety, Eco-Friendliness but also for its durability.
Volvo also supports their owners. When my S60 developed excessive oil use at 83,000 miles, Volvo HQ approved a $4,000 piston job at no cost to me. I love my Volvo, my dealership, the technicians and the car. I'm 60 years old, owned cars from Mercedes to Genesis and all American brands. Volvo for life.
Volvo is really still the leader. They have shared so much information to others in their research in safety, like how Tesla pioneered the EV market, Volvo pioneered the Safety market. Their safety is amazing, and I am lucky to be able to experience it. Others are catching up, but really, Volvo is still leading it. Deny it all you like, but you know they are the top of the safety chart.

"Losing its big lead" - it meant that Volvo's safety game is slowing as other car manufacturers are catching up. Losing the lead in safety does not equate to losing the safety game. It's just that the gap is smaller now. So, the title is not misleading.
Well this video didn’t age well. 1 year later: First Brand in history to ever have EVERY vehicle in it’s current lineup be THE Top IIHS Top Safety Pick+ 2021 Volvo XC90 now has the record for most Top Safety Pick Awards in a single model year in the history of automobiles Volvo is sharing it’s own data with other brands to help reduce accidents/fatalities and this video title tries desperately to bring it clicks hinting at Volvo losing what it’s known for. They did the same thing when they invented the 3-point seatbelt, gave the patent away to all manufacturers for free, this isn’t new for the brand. Journalism has been reduced to petty marketing and clickbait.
@@Hugo-py2ce It’s not, but bold attempt. 2021 Volvo was the first brand in history to have every single vehicle in its lineup to be the Top Car for NHTSA Safety Requirements. @@jackyong815 Volvo still engineers their cars in Sweden. Volvos have been the safest cars on the road for DECADES! Geely bought the company from Ford Mo. Co. in 2010. Geely just provides the funds so Volvo can keep doing what they're doing. It's the same kind of relationship that GM and Saab had (before Saab's demise).
Erm, I've worked with Volvo. This video is utter bollocks! They still design their cars with safety as number one priority and not gimmicks like other manufacturers.
they never said Volvo isn't "still designing their cars with safety as number one"... so I don't know what part of this video is "utter bollocks" They just said they're losing it's lead, and they have a secondary focus.
You need to read carefully. The keyword is "lead" in this entire video. People seriously need to stop rushing to comment before reading and digesting the info. It makes you look dumb.
@ Yeah... Except for most Americans, people want to buy reasonable cars. And now look at Volvo's selling numbers. I wouldn't agree, that nobody is buying them.
@ As I said, Americans aren't much into reasonable cars with a decent engine. V6's and V8's are way more popular... And that's not Volvo's target group and it's good like this.

a lot of people know stories about a person that was saved by their cars from different brands from mercedes`s to tesla`s to toyota`s, mercedes fanboys claim mercedes makes the safest cars while tesla fanboys claim tesla does that, but in reality all these companies pioneered certain technologies by buying most of their "innovations" and taking all the credit for it. as a matter of fact volvo`s, like other cars ,have and still do get lower scores than competition in some categories, like in the headlight category were volvo`s score less than most competition. not to mention volvo`s horrible reputation with the emergency auto-brake...
Volvo still receive extremely high marks in various crash tests, high above the average and they still are much more safe than other cars. They received 98% in Euro NCAP's tests and often go above and beyond, with the strongest roofs in the industry and they conducted a 50mph crash test-something another manufactor is yet to do.
@@TheFourthWinchester no, their highest score for Euro NCAP is 96%. They don't conduct 50mph crash tests and if you check out IIHS, the model 3 doesn't have the strongest roof, however there is no doubt that the model 3 is an extremely safe car.
And Volvo scores the highest in REAL LIFE accidents. Because they built their cars to handle real world crashes, and other manufacturers build their cars to handle the tests.
You miss something here.and what you re missing is that there is much, much more money involved in big Pharma than in car makers.and big Pharma is alongside fashion and oil the dirtiest Business ever existed.car brands are not even close to this ,excluding vw.
Ford dumped Volvo, Geely revived it, why Geely could make it? They give full respect and full autonomy to the European brand, there's no typical arrogance of capital in the deal. Shame same thing didn't happen to SAAB
GM killed SAAB and Holden because both brands did not listen to GM in being ordered to build more Chevvy and Opel clones and instead made actual exciting vehicles. No sub brand of GM should be building awesome vehicles apart from Chevvy itself.

Owning a 2019 XC90 and XC60 I can say these cars are just magnificent. Unless you live in the US, in 2020 nobody cares about how many cylinders your SUV has. Other factors such as fuel-economy and environmental friendliness have a way higher priority in developed countries.

Volvo has ethics. What other automakers can say the same? Next safety feature: identify risky vehicles on the road (based on behavior & car type) and actively avoid them. Would it be possible to detect which drivers are texting? Not even kidding...
Simple answer, Anything that isn't Chinese is deadly dangerous! Chinese software decides! It detects if driver or owner of the other car has attended anti-Chinese websites or isn't using enough Chinese products and suggests to Volvo driver how to kick the enemy off the road while blaming the fault on him. Failsafe Tibeto-Uighurian method. We have also seen that with Tesla recently. It works. Anyone who finds sarcasm in here may keep it, it's free.
Hell their safety is why my dads alive. Crashed in his 240 back in 91 and ended up paralyzed from the chest and downwards. Few months to a year later he bought an all new 850 glt sedan and around 2003 he replaced it with the 850 R wagon that he owns to this day. My granddad was saved by a 140 in the 80s when he hit a tree sideways. *Safe* to say i have my reasons to own one too.
we've always had volvos. my dad got his first volvo in 70s while working at volvo factories. once he crashed really bad, the car rolled over etc. my half brother was just a baby, sitting in a rear-faced child seat. he got nothing. that's why all our cars have been volvos.
Volvo is still the leader. They drive the cars off of buildings for crying out loud. This crap about them not innovating in safety because of geely, is a bunch of bs! Volvo has never been more independent than it is now. They literally can do whatever they want. If you don't believe me just shut the door in a V90 and then shut a door in a Chrysler or something and tell me what car you'd rather be in. The impeccable build quality is another huge factor in why people buy them. There is also a huge amount of Volvo specific crash tests that the iihs doesn't even test for, so even though the gap isn't as big as it used to be it's still big.
I rented a Volvo in Europe and it shifted to from park to reverse on its own while I was by the trunk. Completely destroyed any image of safety it had in my head.
Geely isn't hampering Volvo and the video never said that. The little they said about Geely is that it's really helped them by giving them access to more money and access to China. The CEO of Geely is quoted as saying he's going to pretty much leave Volvo alone. Volvo is losing becase other brands are focusing much more on safty then they used too.
bensemus x I never said the video said that I was responding to some of the idiots in the comments and to people who jus blurt out random stuff like Volvo’s a Chinese company now, which is jus stupid. And Volvo isn’t really losing to other brands either. Other brands are taking note from Volvo. Volvo is MB’s biggest shareholder rofl. I guess if you look at jus sheer sales ya but that doesn’t tell the full story.
As the owner of the newest Volvo XC40 full electric, I must disagree with your views. Volvo have a long history of safety, and are renown to be the leaders of safety. It isn’t that they are ‘losing’ their lead, more so that they are sharing and openly encouraging other manufacturers to, in line with the demands of the public, to meet the standards Volvo puts forward.
Owned a Volvo S60, someone ran a light and I ended up T boning the person. I’m convinced that the car saved my life and the passenger in my car. Now, time for a new car, I want to go with a XC40. Any thoughts
I mean, the tests hasnt changed for like a decade ofcourse they’ll look equal with everyone else. If you increase the speeds or weight of the side impact you’ll see them distinguish themselves. Just when IIHS brought out the small overlap test and a 2002 xc90 scored good but a 2010 bmw scored bad. Change the tests and you’ll see them shine, everyone else is just matching the bare minimum
Agree. With cars becoming more electric and software heavy, I hope they take post-accident safety into account too. Tesla has had some bad reputation for people being jammed in the car after accidents (they have some manual overdrives but are not intuitive), resulting in casualties.
Why the negative title? The title of the video says “Why Volvo is Losing Its Big Lead in Safety”, but there is no proof other than the others will catch-up... so the conclusion is that they aren’t losing anything, to the contrary, they are growing... In terms of safety you said it yourself, the brand is rated top by consumers, they have zero negative press about safety or anything else (unlike the Germans who are busy with cleaning up after their diesel-gate). The same argument that the others will catch-up can be made for any type of technology in any business. Other car brands can catch up to Tesla in electric, it doesn’t mean that they will do it anytime soon... and the by the time they are doing it Tesla is doing something else. Same for Volvo and safety.
you're looking at this way too negatively, they simply said they're losing the "big lead" as in the gap is shrinking, not because Volvo is slowing down, but others are catching up.
Unlike greedy American car companies, Volvo isn't about being #1 for the sake of it. They want what's best for everyone and aren't even trying to compete with anyone else. That's what makes them different.
According to the Swedish insurance company folksam who regularly does studies into real-life accidents Volvo isn't loosing out at all. Volvo and Toyota are still the safst cars according to them.
Angel Gutierrez, Volvo Trucks (still owned by the Swedes) is along the Big 3 Truck manufacturers in Europe with Ford of Europe (they never discontinued their large trucks over there) and Daimler Benz (they also own Freightliner and Fuso, the former Mitsubishi brand). I've seen their Cat 6-8 trucks (mostly on TV, although a few on the flesh) and they're very plush and very aerodynamic.
The title is a bit misleading, it is not that Volvos have become any less safe than they ever were, it is that they’ve purposefully allowed/encouraged everyone else to catch up to them. Also geeley has to be probably one of the only Chinese companies that I could actually say I’m proud of or even really like at all. I love their hands off approach with Volvo and the fact that they are just supporting them from the background, it is working out very very well.
Great video. I owned a 1980 245 DL wagon from 1985-1998, when it was totaled in an accident. Car kept my 7 mo pregnant wife safe and protected our baby to be. I bought my 2015.5 S60 sedan late 2016, and it’s already saved me from serious injury in a hit and run in 9/2018. Still have the car and love it. They are very underrated luxury cars, due to the popularity of the German luxury cars and Japanese luxury cars.

Can we stop with the "model 3 safest car" BS. It is a common misconception that the Tesla model 3 is not the safest car. Volvo beat it on adult occupant protection in Euro NCAP's tests. The model 3 didn't perform particular well I'm the small overlap crash test with footwell intrusion. Volvos aslo have stronger roofs. The NHSTA don't even perform an offset test, their crash tests are basic. Please do your research.
Volvo and Tesla have the same score in Adult protection 96%. Best test score for Adult protecion in Euro ncap belongs to Mazda CX-30 with 99%. Best score for kids or pedestrian belongs to Mercedes CLA or A-class. Chrash avoidance systems still belongs to Tesla model 3 94%.
I disagree, crumple zone is the biggest contributor to safety and without a large engine in the front it has much more of it. It's physics. They also have better polar moment of inertia to spin away from objects. Lower center of gravity to reduce rolling and thus have better handling, perhaps not the best in the industry but adding all of these factors reduce the risk of injury even more and reduce the risk of first getting into a crash. That last point is amplified by autopilot, with all the sensors and these features being present in all models the overall safety factor is higher.
The Volvo XC60 does better in electronic stability control than the Model X. The XC60 passes at 77 kph, and the Model X fails at 72 kph. ua-cam.com/video/x_H4zhjLe60/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/Sv9Oo5TMiWw/v-deo.html The NHTSA rollover test is a silly test where a car is pushed sideways, with no forward motion, into a sand pit. It does not test electronic stability control. I looked for the XC90 test as well, but this group has not tested an XC90 yet.
Sorry, but they're still in the lead to my opinion. What they are doing now with their EVA Initiativ and Vision2020 is definitely some steps ahead other car brands.
David Moore They are in the top safety pick and top safety pick plus. And now with euro ncap, the active safety is part of the overall safety rating. If a car scores badly on that, it brings the whole score down. Effectively a car could actually crash the best and guaranteed to save your life but it'll get a bad rating if it doesn't have auto brakes.
@David Moore I think its more about the practical results rather than test results. Just read this article: www.fuelcardservices.com/no-deaths-in-volvos-super-safe-xc90/ It's a fact that there are no people died in a Volvo SUV since 2004!! That's insane. Also the XC90 is rated by IIHS as Safest Car Of The World 2017. Also, they forgot to mention that the Volvo V40 was the worlds first car which was equipped with a pedestrian airbag as standard. Also far ahead other car manufacturers.
@@PeterPaulRebel That is the shittiest and dumbest argument ever. There are many car crashes across the globe everyday and not everyone of them results in a fatality. Your statistics would never fly in a report cause its not scientific. Just baseless bias. The fact is fact, volvo is declining when other manufacturers are consistently employing new and newer technologies. Tesla got more safety ratings than volvo, but their cars are in retrospect junk in terms of the numerous quality control issues with the most minute things considering what you are paying for. Don't lie to yourself, you know as well as any well respected self individual would and not blatantly still claim volvo as the lead. They are in a loss leader position.
Aoru what’s dumb? That no one died in a Volvo SUV since 2004? You can’t say the same about a Tesla for example, which is a *much newer* company than Volvo yet some people died in Teslas. Of course it’s not the manufacturer’s fault people crash, but it seems that they are better protected in a Volvo. Not to mention, did you hear VOLVO IS GIVING SAFETY OBSERVATIONS FOR FREE TO OTHER MANUFACTURERS??? Safety is their advantage yet they just give it away. And it’s not the first time. Show me another company that does this.
@@mihnealazar7039 and please dont use the argument that volvo is the best because they are giving away their consultation advice. That is just naive. Many car manufacturers swap information and technology. Toyota and subaru for example both made improvements to car frame and engines

I used to own an old Volvo, but recently switched to a new XC 60 T8. I must admit, the improvements the Chinese has made are astonishing! The technology and design is just on another level compared to older models, and the performance of the hybrid is also very impressive!
Wokis While that may be true, I believe that Geely has pushed for a more modern design and more advanced tech. While the engineers themselves may be the same, I think that Geely has directed them to a more modern approach to designing a car.
So Volvo released its research data to other car manufacturers in order to make cars more “compatible” with each other in case of collision. I would buy a Volvo in a heartbeat if only they were more reliable and resale value didn’t plummet as soon as you drive it off the dealership.

You gotta admit, Volvo is in good hands. They got a lot more funding from Geely for researches and developing new platforms. And their new platforms are shared with Geely's vehicles in China. This really creates a good feedback loop. Yes, in today's world Volvo is harder to stand out in terms of safety because, well, partially they raised the bar to the standard today and even helped other companies to reach that bar. The new styling is really good, especially that Polestar, elegant yet sporty. I recently bought an S90, it looks really nice and infotainment systems are really catching up with the BBAs. I hope they can be the European Lexus and improve on the reliabilities. The other European manufacturers nowadays don't even know what reliability means...
I have owned 6 Volvo's over the past 15 years. my newest being a 2017 S60. But when trying to purchase a new V60 in 2019, I discovered my beloved brand has actually out-priced themselves from my budget. So the same loyal owners who have sworn by Volvo over the years are no longer able to afford to buy a Volvo since the Chinese purchased the Swedish company. Volvo now seeks out the Gadget and Technology minded Millennial who knows nothing of their history, or what a great value for money and safety they have been over the last 40 years. I ended up with a new Porsche Macan. It was indeed Less money, and everything I wanted and was seeking in my V60. so for all of you wanting your old affordable Volvo with its safety options. Look at Porsche. You won't be disappointed.
Same thing happened to me -- we've owned Volvo wagons constantly since 1985, and I looked at and test-drove the new-gen Volvo Cross Country wagons extensively (2018 and 2019 V90 CC; 2020 V60 CC) before buying a 2019 Macan. I'd have preferred something more like the Cross Country wagons in terms of interior space, visibility, etc., but my Macan was in the same price range and it has lots of buttons still for climate controls and a much-superior infotainment screen, plus you can permanently disable things in the Macan like auto-start/stop and doors-locking-when-car-starts-to-move but you can't in the Volvos. My 2001 V70XC wagon is superior in many ways to the new Volvo wagons, and it's a keeper; I fear that Volvo has possibly lost us as customers for buying their new vehicles, which I feel are designed too much for women now and not for men (my 2001 Volvo has zero inside or exterior chrome trim, for example), with the new crystal gear shifters (not present on the Cross Country wagons) and weird on/off "turn switches" and silly drive-mode rollers all being turn-offs to me -- horrible design.

Actually it is a trend started when Ford bought Company. First thing I did when my son was born thirty years ago was go out and buy a new Volvo wagon. Yep, had a Baby on Board sign in the window. Just purchased Volvo number seven a couple of weeks ago.
This information was clearly misinterpreted. Volvo invented many safety features and didn't patent them. Take the 3-point safety belt for example. They allowed all competitors to use it without having to pay them for it. Safety isn't something you compete with, it's a life-saving feature and the more cars have it, the more lives are saved. That's Volvo.
I’ve owned Volvo’s for 21 years now and I don’t feel their cars are safer anymore than other brands . With that said they are focused on the environment but try and recycle a certain part from one Volvo to another and good luck some parts are married to the other car , that doesn’t seem to environmentally friendly.
Exactly, Volvo conducted a 50mph crash test with they're XC90 - something no other car maker does.
Remember when Mercedes, BMW, and Audi failed spectacularly when IIHS first came up with the small over-lapped test? S60 got 5 stars.
They change all the time. Active safety is now part of the tests.
I think crash tests should be raised to 55 mph, since that's the speed limit on rural highways, at least here in California.

The model 3 is the safest car in its class. Some Volvo are safe but not sure how safe they are compared to their competitors in the same class
The tesla cyber truck is probably the most safest lol its litteraly a armored tank for the average people. (Glass maybe not)
The Volvo XC60 does better in electronic stability control than the Model X. The XC60 passes at 77 kph, and the Model X fails at 72 kph.

ua-cam.com/video/Sv9Oo5TMiWw/v-deo.html
The NHTSA rollover test is a silly test where a car is pushed sideways, with no forward motion, into a sand pit. It does not test electronic stability control.
I looked for the XC90 test as well, but this group has not tested an XC90 yet.
Sorry, but they're still in the lead to my opinion. What they are doing now with their EVA Initiativ and Vision2020 is definitely some steps ahead other car brands.
David Moore
They are in the top safety pick and top safety pick plus.
Just read this article: www.fuelcardservices.com/no-deaths-in-volvos-super-safe-xc90/
It's a fact that there are no people died in a Volvo SUV since 2004!!
I want to buy a volvo... only because I can no longer buy saabs..
I'd still buy them used

@Slatternly Skaghalter The company that's trying to be the leader in safety is a scam because of their heritage? How's that?
Proudly owner of a Volvo V40 (2018). Really love the car.
These cars are definitely on a level close to MB. I drive a 2019 XC90 and 2019 XC60 and having access to new MB models simultaneously I can say I really love these Volvos.
I’ll still buy a Volvo when I start a family though.

@@cassanderrr I've driven an S90, S60, and an XC60 and like them much more than the old Volvo

Alex Geely gave Volvo pretty much free hands regarding the design and engineering they only took control over their economics.
Please you people don't understand this topic. Just because a car comes with the same tech, doesn't mean it's *as safe*.🤦♂️
Fat Pigeon I just bought a Volvo XC60 instead of a X3 or GLc so believe me, those who bought a Volvo know far more than you do.
@@thinhvcoin ? No I am supporter of Volvo. In fact we own one. I'm talking about CNBC not knowing how safe Volvos actually are.
I used to own an old Volvo, but recently switched to a new XC 60 T8. I must admit, the improvements the Chinese has made are astonishing!
The technology and design is just on another level compared to older models, and the performance of the hybrid is also very impressive!
Volvo engineers are still Swedish to a large degree
Wokis While that may be true, I believe that Geely has pushed for a more modern design and more advanced tech. While the engineers themselves may be the same, I think that Geely has directed them to a more modern approach to designing a car.
The Volvo lineup just looks like pure class unlike most of the new BMWs and some Mercedes.
So Volvo released its research data to other car manufacturers in order to make cars more “compatible” with each other in case of collision.
I would buy a Volvo in a heartbeat if only they were more reliable and resale value didn’t plummet as soon as you drive it off the dealership.
I will never buy anything but a Volvo for my family. I trust them, fantastic, well built and reliable cars. Plus they look excellent!
AirCat Aviation : Many years ago, my wife and I survived a multiple collision smashup on the freeway in Michigan driving a Volvo 145 wagon. Lost the front, tailgate and passenger door. Glass was everywhere. Got bloodied cut fingers from digging glass out of the seatbelt mechanism. But we walked away. Fixed the car and drove it for 8 more years, and then traded it in on a new Volvo 240. Needless to say, I was sold on Volvo and excellent engineering.

Mercedes and Volvo are safety pioneers. Volvo gets more credit for this because they play the safety card more. Mercedes invented the airbag actually.
And Volvo invented the modern 3-point seat belt design among other things. So of cause they can play the safety card all they want...
Volvo and Saab
When the rest catches up, people assume volvo is losing it. Volvos are safe so are other most car manufacturers in every class. Take an xc90, the x5 and q7 are as safe especially the q7, its probably safer. Everyone is making safe cars these days. Very few models arent safe
I have a Volvo S90 and i just love it. Safe and luxury at the same time.

You bought a Chinese car
You will love it until you have to start repairing it.
Volvo is still the best in safety.
Wonder what CNBC hopes to achieve by this de-marketing video of the Volvo brand.
Congrats on the s90. It's a gorgeous car and it stands out from other luxury cars.
Volvo may not be remembered for their cars but, they will go down in history as pioneering amazing safety features.
I have the new XC60 and I feel safe with my family in it, every time we are out on the road.
You can't beat that feeling.
@@cbatiau2528 I too am saddened by what Volvo has done with the interior, not to mention all of the invasive autonomous features in the new cars. I am sorry, but I want to Drive my cars, not be driven or vibrated at when I don't use a turn signal. The Macan has been a blessing in disguise. I love this car. Everything I was looking for, and None of the Autonomous invasive technology that You are forced to pay for in the Volvo that I did not want anyway. I have had zero issues with my Porsche and sadly I cant say the same thing about my newer Volvo's. I always considered myself a "Very Loyal" Volvo owner, but sadly with the direction Volvo has taken with Geeley calling the shots, My Stable of Volvo's is being thinned out by attrition as I trade them off for different brands. Just got my son a new Subaru Outback (Traded a 2013 S 60 T-5) He attends school in Flagstaff and needed and all wheel drive car he felt safe in driving the snowy roads in the mountains. Tried again to find a used V-60 CC, but they were all High mileage Fleet trade ins and wouldn't risk the issues that I knew were to follow them.
Happy Turkey day, and enjoy that Porsche.
I bought a used 2015 Volvo V60 T5 AWD with only 23,500 km on it. It had just come off lease and was in immaculate condition. That is 4 years depreciation but only 1 year equivalent of use. The car came with 4 new ContiProContact All Season tires.
Original price was about $45,000 Can. new versus $24,000 Can. used. Why buy new when you can get almost the same features in a low mileage used car?
@@georgeetoile6686 George I looked far and wide for a low mileage V60 CC in and around So Cal and Phoenix. The V60 CC's I found were all ridiculously High Mileage Fleet/ Rental cars that had been sold off at auction. And as we all know those cars get more abuse than an ex-wife in a trailer park. So congrats on your find. I just had to replace the Fuel Pressure sensor ( $323.00) in my 2015 V 60 T-5 with 52K on the clock. so aside from that it has been a very good running car. but keep an eye out on that.
Cheers
Actually it is a trend started when Ford bought Company. The problem is Volvo can't compete in low price section of cars, because the other companies could make cheaper cars than them, the mini cars and micro cars is there money is in Europe and not very safe or reliable cars. But then there is resale market, Micro and Mini cars are horrible secondhand pricewise, Simply Volvo hold their price better, even compared to same sized cars by other brands.
10:22. This is basically 1984. The government and various corporations take complete control over your lives, because if we save some lives its worth it. Sacrificing freedoms for safety is dystopian.

Not Toyota. Also Volvo generally sells at a more premium pricing. So on a on par level comparison you would have the same tech safety features of other brands. You compare models but fail to compare the $$$$ which is the real factor of comparison.
I bought a used 2015 Volvo V60 AWD with only 23,500 km on it. That is 4 years of depreciation but only 1year equivalent of use. It has almost all the same safety features, but at a much lower price. Why buy new?
@@georgeetoile6686 Why not buy new?
When getting car for my family, Volvo is our first car to think about it, XC60 is complete with all safety features, no matter which edition you choose, T5 or T8 edition.
Didn’t Volvo say nobody will die in one of their vehicles by 2025 or something? Still seems safety-oriented to me.
your right just adding it up and confirming it!
My 2004 S60R is still the best thing I've ever driven, growls like a beast down the highway like nothing else and solid like a rock. SUECIA VICTA!
I like the styling of the new Volvo’s so I’d consider getting one a few models years old especially the V90 R Design
VOLVO STAYS VOLVO FOR ALL THE TIME,i got my S40 and i'm more than happy with it,i can't imagine what new safety systems look like today, support for VOLVO for ever, keep going guys ❤
Volvo had all the current safety features years ago. They just share their safety features. Like they invented the seatbelts.
I love Volvos, ill keep that car on he rode until I weals away from it in a crash (maybe not really but its comforting). sounds good everyone has stepped up safety, thats why Volvo never filed patents on the products they invented if its open source nature would lead to greater industry safely standard; such as the seatbelt as mentioned. good watch
i was hit by a Ford Escort in a 240 wagon, the Escort was heavily damaged. the collision caused one of the headlight bezels to pop off, and i just snapped it back into place ~ that’s it...Volvo..Mercedes..etc are not handing out many mileage badges these days.
"other manufacturers are catching up" yeah until they try a new type of crash test that other manufacturers flunk and Volvo sails through, just like the small overlap.
After driving for a long time with Hyundai and BMw, I finally ended up at volvo, and to be honest, no regrets so far. Really good cars, and certainly the 5 cylinder engine. Beautiful
