I have a gen 2 and I have had 6 maybe 7 bikes and I absolutely love my zx-14. I bought it used with 20k on it and I put about another 15k on it with no issues. Mine had the popular performance mods done already. I just had to do a few mostly safety stuff and a phone holder and charging port. I've only had to do basic maintenance. I think it is one of the best bikes ever made. I almost went with a busa but I did like the look of the 14 more. I was at a dealer one day and they were side by side and being a big dude the 14 was more comfortable. I'm glad I did because it is smoother and more comfortable than the busa. I think it's the most comfortable sport bike. The only bike that I have rode more comfortable is a m109r but is is also a cruiser. I always liked Kawasaki but had Hondas as a kid and owned a few other brands but now I am kawi for life. 🤣🤣 thanks for a good laugh this morning. I did ride about 14,000 miles before I got the ZX14R so I probably compressed some of that time together lol. And that’s awesome you have one too. ❤️
I'm in the UK so mine is a ZZR1400! I have a 2014 ps and it was my dream bike. A hell of a bike for you after less than 3 years riding, i applaud that 👏 Hope you're well 👍👍👍
It's a beautiful bike! I'm currently looking into a 2012 or newer ZX14r. I'm reluctant to get rid of my 2019 Kawasaki Z900rs Cafe, because it's awesome for all day riding, plenty of power for the street and it's the first brand new bike I've owned. But now the time has come that I'm more interested in drag racing with occasional longer road trips sprinkled in every year, keeping my street riding to a minimum and owning one bike is my aim. I've been riding over 20 years and had a few big sport bikes during that time and still own an '02 gsxr 1000, not comfortable for me to road trip on. Thanks for your review, it's what I need to help make my decision about the ZX14r being comfy on longer rides. I'm in north central FLA, too!
Thanks for sharing your story! Wow 20 years that's awesome. I'm coming up on my 3rd year January. Glad to help. It's an amazing bike; you'll absolutely love it! And that's cool you're in FL too!
The tread pattern is unmistakable. On several UA-cam reviews of the ZX14R the reviewer will say the handling is a bit sluggish, but I can tell the bike has stock tires. On the other hand, several reviews say they can't believe how good the handling is on such a big bike. Every time on those reviews I can tell the bike has road 5 tires. I love my road 5 tires and will be putting on road 6 when they wear out.
@@markwest9119 Switching the rear to a 55 is a big difference too, most people stick to stock 50 profile tires which generally feel off when cornering hard.
Picked up mine a few months ago 2022 … kept it stocked … I now wear my race suit whenever I get on it … not because I’m racing all the time, but because … well you know know … zoom zoom zoom
How much experience would one need to move to a ZX-14R? Is it a horrible idea as a beginner bike? How many years/how many bikes have you ridden before getting the zx-14r?
Absolutely do NOT get this bike as a beginner. Be smart, take your time, know your limits. Put in the time aka road miles not just hours. Do city, county everything. Get experienced and work your way up. There’s no rush ❤️ I rode for 2.5 years with some 20k miles under my belt beforehand. Started on Ninja650r, then GSXR 600, GSXR 750, plus dirtbike experience 😜
Hey Amy hi from Australia 🇦🇺 nice mods on a great machine I've had my green zx12r since new & still loving 💚 it. Stay safe & keep enjoying 🙏 . Ps there's a Ohlins rear shock zx14 model too they're very desirable could be yours.
Welcome mate 😉 I’m not even sure what was adjusted on my bike as it was in the hands of the legendary Don Guhl at one point 😍 but it handles so good I’ll probably just keep everything as is now. But good to know what’s available for it!
@RedMoonRising24 thanks yes they are super stable especially at high speed. My point about the ohlins shock is not about modifying your bike , some come with them standard from the factory they're gold.
If you get the ZX10R you'll probably want to upgrade to the 14R eventually LOL. So if you're an experienced rider (at least ridden 600s) then I say go for it! Keep in mind there's a big weight displacement difference. But if you lower the ZX14R, like mine is - you barely notice it. I really only feel the weight when parking it. It all depends if you want a lightweight flickable bike or something that commands the road and feels planted (ZX14)
Had both. Gen 4 ZX-10 and 2013 ZX-14r. If I could have kept both I would have. The `10 was also good but does not get the looks or attention. I had a lot of fun on it. I Traded ZX-14 for H2 is only reason I got rid of it. The ZX-14 is the best all round bike you could have. Feels light. and no litre bike beats it off the line due to the longer wheel base and clutch set up. a lot of low end TQ that a higher reving 1000 class bike does not have until you get revs up. You can make any bike faster depending how much money you want to sink. The '14 has the best all round performance right out of factory. Now the H2... oh man! The '14 may match it off the initial clutch release. But nothing gives the visceral "mad" feeling of the H2. Even stock. But let off and tweak the throttle and it can be ridden like a pussycat; very gentle and mild or crazy mad. And I have owned a lot of fast sport bikes. Only problem is the fuel burn and short range.
@@JimWakable Thanks for sharing the info on the H2! That would probably be the only other "speed" bike I'd be interested in besides the ZX14R and the Hayabusa.
@@RedMoonRising24 Honestly I miss the '14 and it is also a respect machine. And not gonna lie it is really 92% of the H2's performance and in some ways is better (like the initial launch). But That is why I got a cheaper classic ZX-11 for the big fast bike feel still. Great sport tourer. Now. The H2. Guys go nuts and roll down their car windows and whoop when I am riding. Yeesh... Cannot have them all! Ps I was in the "Dad" minivan and got passed by both a ZX-14 (sob) and a Hayabusa. Not gonna lie they both have street cred. However the Gen 2 looking at it in the rear view mirror, with the multiple lights looks surreal. But the 'Busa was also imposing. I'll still take the H2 however.
@@JimWakable I had someone debating with be that from the dig a zx10r would beat the 14 , which I found to be not accurate, since as you mentioned the long wheelbase helps this beast put power to the ground like no other stock bike … glad you confirm that and as we know the top end on the 14’s I heard it seems to be unbelievable…
Thank you! I used to want to be an actress 😆 dang I don’t think I could ever answer which bike is better. They’re both amazing with completely diff personalities! The ZX14R is a more refined, smooth shifting, power delivery and the Hayabusa is more raw, torque-y and wild I guess yet can be tame too.
I really enjoyed this video. The 2017 Golden Blazed Green is by far the best looking ZX14R! No way I'd say that just because that's the color of mine too ; -). You're only missing one very important performance upgrade - black windscreen screws to match the black fairing around the windshield. : -)
That’s awesome. I still LOVE this bike. Owned for almost 3 years. Insurance wasn’t bad in FL but for some reason it’s a lot higher in MO where I live now.
@@RedMoonRising24 I’m a new rider with ninja 400. But I have one question , my bike is easy to push backward from the garage but how about the heavy bike as like yours ?!!! Can you give me just a little bit more information please ?!!!
Great video!! I got a 2012 se. I'm going to add the Brock's exhaust and flash this spring. Also lowering kit. Do you ride all the time with the front strapped down?? I like the tank bag on the rear!! Great idea!! I'd like to hear more info on that!! I'm looking forward to the flash, sounds like it will make the bike easier to ride.
Yes the front is always strapped but it is NOT tightened. One side is loose. The prior owner had it set up for drag but I just ride street. The Cortech 2.0 tank bag is what I have. No scratches and it holds all my gym gear so I don’t have to strain my back anymore with a backpack. It’s held on at triple digits!! 😂 I didn’t have the bike before the flash but I got to experience it with my Gen 3 Busa and it is a night and day difference so I’m sure you’ll love it more. I will probably have Brock's do the flash when I get the exhaust and lowering kit. I'm looking forward to weight savings with full system!! Gym gear?? What the heck is that?? Great info thanks!!
I'm honestly torn .... already am using a 2016 Busa.....and am offered a 2017 Zx14r by my bike dealer....are they about the same or there's significant difference?
Oh man that is tough but the ZX14R is a smooooth machine. I’d say the Busa is more torquey and raw feeling. The ZX14R is a bit more refined and I actually prefer the throttle handling a lot more on that than the Busa. Course I’ve got a gen3 and maybe that’s the first year they changed to ride by wire I’m not sure…as far as power I’d give it to the ZX14R but I haven’t raced my 2 bikes so can’t say 😂
Do you drive in the USA only straight out with the motorcycles, or why was the swingarm lengthened, the ZX14R has yet with 1.48cm a sufficiently long wheelbase. Cornering makes with the motorcycle certainly no more fun! But otherwise congratulations .....beautiful motorcycle. Greetings Michael
The extensions were on the bike when I bought it. I wouldn't have done that to the bike myself but after riding it, it's such a smooth ride and it handles perfectly. Any longer though it might not. The bike feels more balanced to me with it stretched though. My 2022 Hayabusa feels like it needs to be stretched cause it just doesnt feel as balanced lol.
Great clip you've done there. I agree with all the things you've did with your bike. It's looking good thanks for posting this. I have some similar videos on my channel on the ZX14 plus modifying it check it out thanks Bruce.
@@RedMoonRising24 seems unlikely. Kawasaki just stopped making it for uk. Real shame. Such a good bike. I prefer it over the busa. More comfortable too ! I always watch the us videos and get very jealous of the new colours etc.

lol not new 😝 I rode 3 sportbikes and a dirtbike for 2 years before and did some 15k miles or so. The mods were done by prior owner. @@RedMoonRising24 I bought a 2008 Hayabusa new, the only year with gold wheels, and I loved that bike. I let my stepson talk me out of it a few years ago and I miss that bike. I have ridden crotch rockets all my life until I was 60 when I bought a used 2007 Nomad on an auction. I now have a 2010 Voyager and a 2019 Concours 14 and I like both bikes, the Concours satisfies my crotch rocket love although if I could find another 2008 blue Hayabusa with gold wheels and low mileage I will probably buy it because that particular model is so unique.
@@RedMoonRising24 if you have not been to big daddy Don Gartlets race car museum there you should go. It is huge though and is an all day deal to see the amazing cars and memorabilia he has in multiple buildings.
@@RedMoonRising24 I have forgotten what year it was but I think around 2010 or so when I went and I understand that it’s much larger now and there has been several new buildings built. At that time I was in an organization called Racers for Christ and our yearly conference was at Ocala and our Tuesday outing was a tour of the museum and to top it off we had catered lunch with big daddy and his wife Pat at the covered picnic table area next to the museum.
Haha I know what you mean. I could probably turn it off with mine being strapped but it’s saved me on the brakes a couple times. This bike is NOT known for its amazing brakes 🤣
@@RedMoonRising24 ....I dropped a lot of weight on my 14 and couldn't ask for the brakes to be much better. If it's lifting the rear up under hard braking I can't ask for much more. I don't like it when it does it but a deer jumped in front of me while doing a buck20 so I panicked a little bit and grabbed a big handful of lever and endo'd for a hundred feet or so. It's a 06 with 193bhp and ran 5.89 @125 foot shift on a 4inch stretch. That was back in 2010. My son was born so I eased up on my wildness but I just pulled the cover off the other day. Gotta get back to the track. It handled gen2 busa really easy and 1397 gen1 too

This was my bussa before I wrecked it ua-cam.com/users/shorts7QkQsMa1uOg?feature=share Hayabusa next to each other and I sat on both of them and the Zx14r feels a lot lighter than the bussa that surprised me. but iam still thinking I haven't rode sine the crash but a few times on my brother 750 I have been riding for years and have had all types of bikes but these types I like the most

I was wondering that too! He did say it was taken in person to Don Guhl for the flash and tune. Maybe Don disabled it ??
Nice build
That thang hardddd ❤❤
Looks Great Amy had to comment in return! THANKS ZED HEAD. WOULD love to interview you for she Rides episode
Heck yea that’d be awesome! You can reach me on Telegram @amynicholas 😁
any issues with the swingarm extensions coming loose?
Nope it’s been totally sound!
I’m in Tampa hope to see you on the backroads 👍
Awesome 😎
Really nice bike👍
Thanks ✌️
Nice. Q for you. I am 6'5 and I and looking for get it. What do you think about my height on that bike
You’ll love it! My husband is 6 ft 2 and it’s the most comfortable sport bike for him (including Gen 3 Hayabusa)
Sounds good Bruce and will do! Thanks for the feedback 🤗
How tall are maam?
I’m 5’6 inches
Nice bike
Thank u Ma'am
Most welcome 😊
Shame you can only get up to 2020 in uk due to euro emission laws. Thanks for the video.
Dang sorry to hear that…hopefully your lawmakers change up soon over there!
@@RedMoonRising24 seems unlikely. Kawasaki just stopped making it for uk. Real shame. Such a good bike. I prefer it over the busa. More comfortable too ! I always watch the us videos and get very jealous of the new colours etc.
Dangit! Well you’re just gonna have to move to the USA 😜
Newer rider goes out and buys the baddest bike on the planet, stretches it and mods it? Wow. At least you're geared up. Be good out there, rubber side down. Must be nice to have alll that disposable income, yo :)
lol not new 😝 I rode 3 sportbikes and a dirtbike for 2 years before and did some 15k miles or so. The mods were done by prior owner. Wasn’t initially my choice to go with a stretch but it rides like a Cadillac 😂 Not disposable income…it came from making a decision, having a Dream, and going out there to create the money for the bike of my Dreams 😀
Nice hair!
Haha thanks! 😉
You're very lovely indeed, and music suits the video. ZX14 😮 however no....Hayabusa!
Haha I had both at one time! Looking to get another Busa here soon…
@RedMoonRising24 monet?
Respect queen. Currently have 3, actually I have a Gen II for sale. 2009' 1340
@RedMoonRising24
Craigslist, I'm in Lubbock, Texas
Top bike and you too :)
Haha thanks! ☺️
love Ocala
It is beautiful there! 🌴
@@RedMoonRising24 if you have not been to big daddy Don Gartlets race car museum there you should go. It is huge though and is an all day deal to see the amazing cars and memorabilia he has in multiple buildings.
I did when I was really young! It was really cool. I moved out of FL last year though and live in MO now.
Nah on the traction control and abs....that crap hinders the heck out of me
Haha I know what you mean.
It handled gen2 busa really easy and 1397 gen1 too
Sick bike that’s good numbers for Gen1! Glad you were able to handle it. I could be just putting too much pressure on my rear brakes but sometimes they feel a bit soft. 🤷♀️
Nice bike perfect upgrades!!!! My home boy has one he swears by it his is a 2008. i was looking into these bikes heavy after I totaled my 2008 Suzuki Hayabusa custom painted bussa I hit some gravel in GA riding for the first time and didn't realize i was now down south where there is tons of dirt and clay on the road. This was my bussa before I wrecked it
ua-cam.com/users/shorts7QkQsMa1uOg?feature=share
Hayabusa next to each other and I sat on both of them and the Zx14r feels a lot lighter than the bussa that surprised me. but iam still thinking I haven't rode sine the crash but a few times on my brother 750 I have been riding for years and have had all types of bikes but these types I like the most
Dang sorry to hear that glad you’re ok! Yea gravel is everywhere in the south and many paved roads end in dirt or gravel lol. Hope you find your next Dream bike soon!
Lopez Kenneth Rodriguez Kenneth Jones Amy
The 14 is one of my favorite lol I know can't really debate this or the busa
That makes you officially cool 😎
Not a girls bike
Apparently it is 🤣
👍🏻
Perfect size swing arm
Thanks ☺️
the extended swingarm made me not take you seriously as a rider. Poor taste, sacrificing handling for a bit more acceleration.
How old are you?... just curious
It was on the bike when I bought it. I actually would not have added myself but now riding it for several years I’m glad it’s there. The ride is very smooth.
