I ride a 2013 ZX14R, Passion Red rocket. It's incredibly quick in a pull, and very fast. Faster than any street bike has a right to be. It's smooth, easy to ride. But you have to keep your wits about you. It's power is no joke.
@KingOz. It's a great bike. Comfortable to ride on road trips. I would recommend it for most riders. It's a big, powerful bike that one needs to respect, that being said.... Damn!
The thing i love is when you young guys talk about the ZX14r and the Busa and then ride one and its over the enjoyment you guys get 😂😂😂i love it I'll never sale my Busa, with both my knees replaced and about to have back surgery and im still riding for life😂😂😂😂Unc is Riding 🔥🔥🔥
Lost my best friend on his bike this past Thursday. I'm seriously considering giving it up, but I doubt my homie would want that. He was not at fault, as he was cut off by an elderly woman. He was a big fan of your channel and he put me on to you. If it's not too much, maybe a shout out to my main man Anthony Lee on your next videoa? Sorry for your loss, RIP. If you still have a passion for bikes, don’t quit. If you no longer have the passion and can no longer accept the risks that come with riding, I would quit. Good luck!
The new ZX14r actually costs about $2,000 less than a ZX10r. You can pick up a nice used low mileage 14r for considerably less than a comparable 10r, and they are usually pretty stock and lightly ridden like this one. (35mpg is a big clue as to how this bike was ridden)
I have one same color with Brocks full titanium exhaust, Scott's steering damper, quick shifter, custom seat, asv levers, rg frame sliders, blacked out windshield, led upgraded headlights, and some carbon fiber upgrades. She is the most comfortable aerodynamically stable high powered rocket I have ever ridden.
@@KhrisRidez - I double down on that "Agree". @ 170mph, my '09 14 was(sold her in 2020) extremely smoooooth & stable !! Kawasaki did their homework on the aerodynamics of the 14, that's for sure. I’ve been saying for like two years I have the 2022 and a 2021 model and I literally out around 1000s with it on the curves also fast lane something is not right with the brakes on that bike. Mine stops on a dime plus you have to use a little extra engine breaking because she is heavier, awesome brother. I’m glad you finally reviewed the ZX 14. 🐉💯🐉🐉
I met a guy who traded his zx14r in on a h2 and after riding it for awhile he said he missed the zx14r bc it was faster then the h2. I think the h2 has more potential to produce more power and be faster but in its stock configuration it might not be as fast as the zx14r
Good Video. I love this motorcycle, i have a 21 model. It's a great balance between comfort and speed. I actually feel good when i ride this bike and at 75 years old, that's saying something.
I'm 6'5, 265-275 lbs depending on the day lol, and the ZX14 is way more comfortable to me than even a busa. The fact that my gen 1 will walk on gen 1 and gen 2 busas is just an added bonus. Haven't come across a gen 3 busa in the wild yet.
I'm 6'4, 250. I have the knees of a 58 year old who used to jump out of the gym because, well, I'm a 58 year old who used to jump out of the gym when basketball shoes didn't have all that much tech to them. I have no complaints about the ergonomics of the zx14r. I also have a zx12r. That bike lacks the power of the 14 in stock form but it turns better and sits about an inch taller. Being taller, it's more comfortable at a stop light. With a whole lot of modifications to the 12, it could be a comparable bike but the zx14r starts off from a better platform. I bought my 14 used and it was already modified with a full exhaust, brakes, pegs, quickshifter and tune. Because of my size 14 boots, I had to disable the quickshifter. It was way too sensitive and kept cutting the power right when I needed it. Of course, we didn't figure that out until after I wasted money on a different tune. Now, the bike rides like a giant two stroke dirtbike from the 80s. (And I love that)
I have one and I’m buying another one Monday and I’ll tell you why it’s so good. The mirrors are great. You can see everything behind you. It’s super comfortable. It’s stupid fast. It always feels planted on the highway. You don’t get bounced around in the wind when a semi passes, you has zero effect on you For a big bike it will definitely stop when you need to and you don’t have to try to find the right gear to accelerate every gear with the torque it has it will accelerate at any time at any speed if you’re two people or you’re it doesn’t affect the bike you don’t notice it like you do on smaller bikes if you like to be on the rides, it’s very comfortable and the wind much cheaper than H2 as far as overall price or maintenance and you don’t have that short distance problem where you always need gasoline like the H2 and depending on how much you weigh if you’re a lightweight rider you may be faster than a bigger guy on an H2 it’s not that far From it overall speed I think people think the H2 is completely superior but you have to look at the all-around reason that you have a bike a lot of people like smaller bikes because they say they’re flexible but they never ever get to track day and if you like to take long rides on the Thruwaycomfortable bike is awesome
Im not a bike person. But i saw one on a parking lot and had to see it online. In person it looks super sick. On video it doesn’t give it justice. This bike is impressive in real life
I’ve owned my 2017 ZX14R for 2.5 years and loved every minute on it. It’s super comfy. I’ve got the Guhls ECU flash and tune and a full Brock’s exhaust. Fantastic bike!
I have a 2013 ZX 14r in white with r-77 carbon fiber yoshimura slip on pipes, so comfortable, just thrillingly fast, torque , no problem it's always there waiting in any gear. 40k miles of smiles.
I owned a 2009 ZX14. I am 6,1 300 pounds with replaced knees. I had to sell her and miss her every single day. Best bike ever for big dudes. BTW, when you hit 70mph in the rain the aerodynamics create a bubble around the rider and your chest and body will be dry...lol I bought mine at Red Baron Motorcycle chain in Japan. Been here 30 years, bought 20 bikes from them. Thanks for the video!
That bike is 10 out of 10. The engines are bulletproof. The mirrors are nice and wide so you can see behind you. It’s comfortable. It’s super fast. It’s stable. It’s planted the wind doesn’t move around the bumps. Don’t throw you around. It looks great. Got a good size tank I mean, you could pick up a 2010 for five or $6000.
II was about to get a ZX-14r, but a visit to the dealership changed my mind. The 6th gen ZX-10r instantly grabbed my attention, especially after learning about its quick shift, auto blip, and cruise control features. A test ride sealed the deal for me. Plus, as D mentioned, the lack of a speedometer on the screen turned me away from the 14r. The 10r's full-color display was another enticing feature.
I agree with most comments having the same bike for the last 6 months, especially speed shown in the middle screen would be handy. However, steering damper is not required on them. If the road is uneven and you let go of the handlebars any bike would look for balance and the handlebars would move.
My bike is a Hayabusa and I love it, but I respect the ZX14R so much. Such an awesome and cool bike. If money was not a factor I would have both without a second thought.
For you new riders, I will add that the insurance is cheaper because it’s considered touring because of its weight/engine size even though it’s a “liter” bike. He also wasn’t lying about the brakes, they’re not bad but you need more stopping power for a bike that size.
I bought my 14R new in 2020 because I wanted a little more excitement on my commute (I have nearly 11k miles on it now). I went from a comfy Shadow 1100 cruiser to this thing and I'm telling you, it's nearly as comfortable but 10x the excitement. I have slip-ons so I can hear mine but the trouble is (as mentioned) because of it's stability and comfort, there is the potential to get into a lot of trouble. 100mph feels like 60mph, compared to just about everything else I've ridden. This might be my last bike because I'm not getting any younger (57y/o). Great review and pretty accurate, even though I think the quick shifter is a little overrated for commuter riding...which is likely the work most of these beasts do.
I've had my 14r on the tail of the dragon and came off with little to no chicken strip. The brakes must have air in the lines bc my Nissen brakes make mine stop really quick. I have a brocks 4 into 1 and a few more things.
Ive owned 5 zx14’s. All your points are on point…the lack of a quickshifter you have to wonder why they took rhat route when its so important for racing ..the headlights are bad, you must upgrade to LED immediately, good news the bulbs are not very hard to reach…but they have tons of power and if you get the full system exaust and a nice tume, these things will hang with any bike out there.
Kawasaki is taking the piss with this bike. Selling the same bike for the last 15 years and giving it literally no upgrades. If they had have I would have bought one. Currently loving my tuned 23 Busa.
Have my 2009 ZX14 special edition candy burnt orange. When the Ducati riders and even curser riders walk past all the 600 and liter bikes to look at this one... it is a special bike. I love it for many many reasons... but the exclusivity is wonderful. You aren't just on yet another 600 or liter bike they are just a dime a dozen. If you even get a chance and actually fully open this up.... your eyeballs will flatten. When people ask how fast is she... 0-300kms in 28 second. Enough said.
The ZX-14R came out in 2012 and has never changed a thing on it since it came out. My 2018 ZX-14R was the best bike I have ever ridden and owned, next to my zh2. Unfortunately I was involved in a wreck a few weeks ago after a lady made a left turn in front of me and I tbonned her, which totaled my bike.
I’ve had a 09 busa, but now I’m on a zzr1200 I can imagine how these would be and would love to own one, I just live the style of riding these sport tourer bikes
That bikes a beast bro. I used to own one. Wanted a Bus but it was very uncomfortable for me. The Kawi was one of the most comfortable sport bikes Ive ever owned
This bikes needs to be updated drastically in electronics and styling in order to compete with gen 3 hayabusa. Its the same since 2008 whereas busa is in its third gen with superb electronics and jaw dropping looks.
My ZX14 is an 09. I traded my 07 350z for it. It’s my first bike and this will be my first spring and summer with it. I’ve been riding it a bit in the cold as well on the nicer days we’ve had. Mine has the quick shifter though so I wonder why the newer models don’t have one.
You get rid of the dual exhaust go with the four and one out the right side, Brocks then you put a air shifter a DME 8-10”inch over swing arm run high eight’s
I love the ZX14R. I think I'll buy a 3rd gen hayabusa instead after riding it. It's nearly as fast as the ZX14R. (It's actually hard to tell from the seat, riding them back to back.) The Busa has up and down quick shifter, 6 axis IMU, Cruise control, and some other things I like for the money. I actually think it looks better too. 🤷♂️
The 14R is still encumbered by it's dated electronics package. They've not updated them since 2016, and that was just to add Euro 4 compliant emission controls. The 14R is NOT Euro 5 compliant, which is why it is only sold in the US, and non Euro 5 markets. I wish that they'd update the ECU and give it at least a quick shifter. Cruise control would be difficult due to it being cable operated. Most modern bikes are throttle by wire, which is how cruise control is easily possible.
kawai has stated that bikes with more upright seating is for touring and cruising bikes like the zx6r zx10r and the h2 are performance based and not really commuters as for the 650 500 zx14r are really touring commuters theyre upright for comfort
You should consider doing rankings for the bikes you review. This way you can tie together videos you’ve done in the past and reference them in the future on comparable rides you do. [Plus it may help avoid the repeat comments about whether you’ve ridden a bike before or not]
Good stuff. I like the Zx14. I completely agree with your assessment. With a little modification the Zx14 can be a beast of a bike, but I will still take my ZX10R over it
@FastLaneD since youve rode both, I'm a Unc to you guys, i want another bike to switch between with my Busa. Which would you recommend for a 56yr old Unc that likes to go fast, ZX14r or H2??
@FastLandD dude you did an amazing job with the h2 and the busa, this would make the trifecta complete. And I'm excited to see what you would do with it

Thanks D good to see someone talk good about the 14.. I love mine
I have myself checking every other day for a notification on a new vid….LETS GO BAYBEEEE!!!!
Back on the Kaw. Most comfy bikes. Along with the Beamers
You get rid of the dual exhaust go with the four and one out the right side, Brocks then you put a air shifter a DME 8-10”inch over swing arm run high eight’s
Stop sleeping now on the Busa go ride one now 😂😂😂 #BusaGang alllllll daaaaayyy
As a zx14 owner its dope u did a review. i love my bike. def a monster
And it is BLISTERINGLY fast with a tune. It's sluggish until around 5500 RPM, then takes off when it hits torque curve.
People love all gen Busa and 2nd gen zx14.But they sleep on the the ZX12r,which is a great bike.
I might be wrong, correct me if I am. The zx14 has the same body style as the contour which is the touring version of the zx14.
Had mine 5 years and last ride its started shaking at around 50mph faster its fine never done it before any suggestions new tyre balanced
kawai has stated that bikes with more upright seating is for touring and cruising bikes like the zx6r zx10r and the h2 are performance based and not really commuters as for the 650 500 zx14r are really touring commuters theyre upright for comfort
When the speedo is blurred for over half the video, you know he likes the bike lol
We know you are going to get a Busa you need to add a Suzuki to the collection.😊
Not gonna lie these review videos are 🔥🔥 bro! Keep em coming!
I have a 22, exhaust/ tune . It’s prettier damn impressive. I’m getting old, so the comfort is important when your racking up money miles.
Love the analog gauges but why no cruise control? Seems like a natural for a big bike like this.
You should consider doing rankings for the bikes you review. This way you can tie together videos you’ve done in the past and reference them in the future on comparable rides you do. [Plus it may help avoid the repeat comments about whether you’ve ridden a bike before or not]
Eyo fastlane buy the damn 2014 r1 its an iconic bike and i love it
You need to do an animation when a bike gets ur FastLaneD stamp of approval :D
Now you gotta ride a H2 Sx se......
My cousin has the 2009 zx14 shes a beast wild bike best know how to ride
What’s the difference between the ZX series, vs a H2 vs a Regular Ninja
I love that you messed it up at the end. Zx10 😛props man. Not used to saying zx14. Great video man.
Love from India bro❤
Next: Kawa ZH2!
i got a ZX1000. the Ninja 1000 SX is a great fun bike
Welcome back sir. About time you made a new vid
Put steel braided brake lines will improve braking
I had a 2012 zx-14r. With a brocks alien head exhaust power commander blacked out I also had a bigger tire on the rear and that thing was mean
Good stuff. I like the Zx14. I completely agree with your assessment. With a little modification the Zx14 can be a beast of a bike, but I will still take my ZX10R over it
Bad tuning, mine was 207 bhp with filter and Brock's qithout tuning, now with tunig approx 230.
And I'm excited to see what you would do with it
you should roll a zx14 i could see it with a akrapovic system and some BST rollers definitely comfy ride
