I have the Generation 1 Hayabusa I find it to be honest with you extremely uncomfortable even with the Healy bars how do you compare the two as far as comfort forget about the performance I have no other problems with the Hayabusa about performance I just want something that won't kill my arms shoulders and neck.
Had three 'Busa's. A Gen 1 and two Gen 2's. Great bikes but not that comfortable to be honest. Especially on a longer trip. Now have an '19 ZX14R SE. Love the better riding position, the soft seat and the mumbo is off the planet when you turn the throttle. The Ohllins shock is sublime. Makes we want to get on it and go for a ride when ever I can. Just swapped the original exhausts for R77 Yoshimuras- Stainless slip ons , not the Carbon variety. Much cheaper and better looking in my eyes. Each to their own. The ZX14R is the bike I always wanted. What a machine.
I have owned 6 Hayabusa (all gens) and 2 ZZR1400's. I actually just swapped my 2023 Hayabusa for a 2013 ZZR1400. Fair to say I am of the opinion the Kawasaki is the superior machine.
@@blazimus_ Not much. It's basically the same machine, just some minor details. The ZZR is the European version, the ZX the American. I had a 2009 ZZR and it had a standard fuel pump lock, the ZX didn't. Don't know much about the later versions. They added traction control on the ZZR in 2012? Same engine is in the Kawa GTR 1400, with two cooling fans. Stopped riding in 2019 due to an accident. Totalled the bike. Totalled me. Had a blast riding it for 10 years.
They always say the Hayabusa is comfortable I can never understand why I have a 2005 even though I still ride it I find it extremely uncomfortable I always wanted to compare it to the zx1400 but I never really got a chance as far as comfort because I have no other complaints about the Hayabusa just my freaking neck shoulders arms kill me when I ride it
I found the ZX14R to be more comfortable, and in stock form, it's faster. I have done a couple track days on mine and it's been sublime, for what it is. That said, it needs an update to modern electronics, like the Busa has... Modern IMU, quick shift with auto blip, etc...
just done a 2000 mile trip across France and Spain, I averaged over 50 miles to the galoon on that trip, so fuel consumsion is fantastic for a bike that size and that fast.
The Busa was the litre plus cruise missile full on powerhouse sport bike, when others only took it to the one litre level. Kawasaki couldn’t resist the challenge and got in the game. Then went supercharged after that. But Honda and Yamaha never took the bait to get on board with this size of sport bike. But Yamaha did go in crazy horsepower country with the V-Max with about a 1700 V-4 engine. That bike also had a 25 or close year production time span like the Busa.
Don't forget the history, Suzuki GS1000 created by Kawasaki z1 900 DOHC patent.. Also, think about the first superbike with Ram-air induction and full bodywork (cowling), liquid cooled 4-cyl engine... Kawasaki engineering company and respectable brand all around the Japan...
Have 2013 Concours 14 and 2022 ZX14R. Concours 14 with shaft drive love it wish my ZX14R had shaft drive. Stock Concours 14 11.30's at 122 mph ZX14R 10.40's at 141 mph on the back wheel a lot.
People say the Hayabusa is sport touring and I always think who’s riding that thing for hours? Yeah it’s more comfortable than say an R1 or Fireblade but you’re still leaning forward, knees tucked and feet back. If I ride mine for more than 30 minutes I start to feel it. Not to mention the vibration in the throttle if you’re cruising at low RPMs. Because low RPM cruising isn’t what the engine is made for I guess. I would never recommend a Hayabusa as an option for touring.
the reason why you'd have either of these two bikes is to do ridiculous speeds for hours at a time. i have a zx14r and doing between 240-300 on roads at hours at a time from district to district....there is no greater sensation on this planet 👊😎
@Hollowbethynam-vz6ug well i dunno....i feel i can ride that thing all day and still not feel fatigued...so would be in my opinion. sure its not gona be as luxurious as other options like goldwing or concours but the question was "whos riding that thing for hours??"....the answer is a lot of us, including me 🤷🏻♂️
@Hollowbethynam-vz6ug ah yes....i do know what a concours is....even so much so i know how to spell it correctly. in short its a detuned ZX14 for those people who have arthritus and have a fear of speed. which means its not as fast and its not as thrilling. im well aware👍
@Hollowbethynam-vz6ug mate i have a 130hp v-twin and really enjoy it...i'd love to have a concours also, as well as a bunch of other bikes. i've had 50cc scooters and really enjoyed them..thats because all bikes are good. having fun is a feeling...its not politics.
I'll take the ninja I had a 93 zx11 it had 140 horse power I couldn't imagine 190 my bike held the road like a tank so I know how that 14 would be might look for a used one hammer down
I had a zzr1400 and a hayabusa gen2. I admit, the zzr won there and there is no question. Now I bought a new hayabusa gen3 and the zzr 1400 has no more chance... according to him, the gen3 is a spaceship in appearance, equipment, driving behavior, electronics.. .truth..still the zzr is a bit more comfortable even though on the new gen3 they moved the grips and raised the steering wheel...in the end...the bus is a member of the gsxr family...sorry zzr...but bye...
They are not sport bikes and not super bikes. The category is sport touring, just like K1600GT. Too heavy and soft for sport (GSX-R, Ninja, R1), too powerful and uncomfortable for touring (Versys, Goldwing).
Who's better ? My 2022 bmw S1000RR its putting down 196bhp to the ground and is 150 pounds lighter then both of these pigs and it will do well over 200mph 🖕😘🖕
Fair enough mate, but the torque on these big engines is lovely to use, when it's paired to a reasonably flickable chassis. You can go into a corner fast and stable because they really hold their line and once on the way out, you roll the throttle and Fuck off into the horizon. Plus the weight of the bikes makes them a lot nicer to use at high speeds over here in the UK, as a lot of the surfaces are in need of repair. You hit a crappy patch on these and they just roll over it. Believe me, I've ridden a lot of bikes all the way up from super light 2 stroke 250's to 'blades and GSXRr's. I've had tank slappers, back ends coming out on me, speed wobbles, unscheduled wheelies, the lot. I love my 'busa gen2. SUPER STABLE at very high speeds! And I'm over 6ft, and fit nicely on this bike. I also get a lot of respect on this bike, because these things are famous for what they are. I've even experienced that cars make way for it. The 1340cc engine sounds awesome through two R77's. It sounds heavy and bassy. I always have to put people right when they say it's the fastest bike in the world though haha. There's faster stuff out there now. OR....do I spend 5 grand and fit a super charger to it. Nah. It's great as it is. Ride safe mate.

Simple choice, the zx14r: looks better, faster, more comfortable and can do everything else as good as the Hayabusa
