How frustrating! My mom had pancreatic cancer and when first diagnosed, someone gave us a tape to this nonsense. Gave us some story about cancer being cured, etc. It upset my mom and hurt her deeply. Made her feel like her chemo treatments were useless and that she did something wrong. I never take this lightly now. It used to be a joke to me, but now it feels personal. Thank you for shedding light on this. Chemo gave us some extra years with her. The idea of this claim is just wild.

Alexandra S. I think the issue is people are single-minded and see that chemo isn’t good for the body’s cells and “kills”. Well no shit, I mean it’s not for healthy people. It takes a toll on the body, but it’s one of the best current options. No one believes chemo has no negative side effects. These people try to pretend if there are any negative side effects then it must be all bad -_-

Juicing is an excellent way to get a food that is low in satiety but high in nutrients. Not to mention that it's way easier to get malnourished children to drink juice than to chew their way through all those veggies.
But while low satiety and high in nutrients is good for anyone ill or malnourished... it's counterproductive for the 70% of US-Americans who are overweight or obese. And it doesn't cure anything either.

I know you don’t read “walls of text” Swayze, but I did my best to break up this story into smaller parts-
My mom died from breast cancer 25 years ago- she didn’t do any type of conventional treatments.
Long story short, she watched her mom & best friend suffer & die from breast cancer, even though they did every conventional treatment available at the time.
So she decided she wanted to treat herself with only holistic, natural treatments.
    But, obviously, she died too.
I was 9, so I didn’t fully understand what was going on or had much say in the matter.
I’ve never been angry at my mother for her choices, but now as an adult (knowing what I do now) I just feel really sad and confused that she didn’t want to do every treatment possible- natural AND conventional.
I’m pretty sure she did Gerson therapy methods, she would juice & drink a ridiculous amount of carrots, had some homeopathic doc. And since she was at a clinic in Mexico days before dying, I’m pretty sure she was at that Gerson clinic.
I think she truly believed in what she was doing, in all the natural treatments, etc. I’m afraid she believed conventional medicine was bad.
I hate the fear mongering against legit, pharmaceutical treatments, and that ALL natural is the ONLY way. 😔
Why are some things so polarized? Why can’t it be both? Why not marry the best of each together?
Do I think U.S. pharmaceutical companies are profit driven?
    Abso-fucking-lutely.
But I also fully believe that there are scientists within those companies who truly do give a damn and are doing their best to help people.
Naturally I just wish she was still here.
Because of our family history, my older sister, my niece, and I are at a higher risk for breast cancer.
    Sometimes it’s depressing.
But I’m glad that we still have each other and are alive in a time where treatments are far more effective.
To anyone who read this, thank you 💗
Oh, and on a side note-
I hate juicing; it’s stupid expensive and just a waste of produce!!! Just eat the damn produce.
Also, more crap to share- I’ve also had my own experience with drowning in the “holistic medicine swamp”-
I’ve had an auto-immune illness since childhood, and several years ago I wanted to do “all natural”, so I stopped taking most of my meds, tried a bunch of (super expensive) natural treatments, saw a naturopath, and while I improved a little on some fronts, it was not worth it.
All of the legit, immunosuppressant, pharmaceutical meds I need to take are what really work. Period.
Again, my gratitude to all who read this 💖

The irony is that Peaceful Cuisine claimed in a Q & A that moving to Kyoto "improved" his skin by "80 - 90%", and that the "air in Kanto" didn't agree with him.
So to now see him saying that the "detoxing" effect of (dubious) supplements is what "cleared up" his remaining rash is just sketchy.
Especially when he admits experiencing a fresh outbreak (on his arm) after starting his supplements regime, but chose to take that as a "good sign" and continuing.
I don't know, how about consulting a Dermatologist in the first place, instead of moving to a different city, and then relying on "detoxing" supplements when the rash persisted?

I would believe it tho! I know nothing about those cities but I do know about correlation ;) I do believe that there might be a correlation between where you live and your skin. Hey :) I do! That’s why I believe that there might be a correlation between moving cities and skin condition while the cause of the improvement of the skin is actually caused by the air quality/humidity/air pollution level/amount of stress you might experience in new environment (school, work etc) etc. so I believe that if I moved to Oslo from PL my skin might get better but if someone from rural Alaska moved to Oslo there skin might get worse. Coz it’s also important to know what the ‘baseline’ of air pollution for example is.
Believe me or not but during winter in PL when I remove my make up, I can literally see grayish stains from the amount of shit in the air (people stil sometimes use stuff they should not be using to warm up their places). So to sum up - yes. I do think I know the difference between correlation and causation - let me know if I got some part wrong in your opinion :)

This hits too close to home. I nearly started crying watching this and had to click away. My mum is on an extreme anti cancer diet in place of conventional treatment. She had/has breast cancer (she doesn’t tell me, because I get so upset). She only drinks water from some special machine she has in her home, practices coffee enemas and won’t eat potatoes, grains, soy, fruits, anything canned, ect. She spends soooo much money on crazy foods and ridiculous supplements, like broccoli sprout powder because apparently it will save her. My younger sister is suffering because of the extreme strain on my mum’s single income, I have never seen my mum’s budget stretched so thin. I try to reason with my Mum to do chemotherapy if the time comes, and at least seek a second opinion on this diet which is sapping her free time, health and money. I don’t even know where she got this advice from, she only discloses that it came from a “specialist” although I am sure it came from a naturopath.

    Oh. :(
Am a long time subscriber of his channel and I had no idea about this as I'd completely ignored those juicing videos (not into juicing at all, I just wing smoothies if I'm feeling like one). This is a darn shame since I really like his recipes, and unlike you the ASMR (had to laugh at your reactions) and peaceful vibes of his videos too.
To be honest, I ignore any exotic supplements (so anything that isn't just a standard vitamin) people take precisely because of the abundance of quack science on the internet. People's diets are given even more of a suspicious side eye, especially if they appear to sell their lifestyle or a particular aspect of it, e.g. a channel that focuses on just raw food or constant off grid hiking trips. Sometimes when I do find out about these exotic diets or food product I'll add it to my mental tally to see if something has enough support by a group of people that are varied enough in lifestyle and belief that I could consider it non-fad and non-fringe enough to look into. Like eating plant-based (now I eat plant based for half my meals, the best I can do with my lifestyle currently).
As he doesn't seem to be heavily forcing viewers to get the product or pick up the diet yet, and his vegan recipes use ingredients in unusual ways or introduce me to different dishes that I can use as a baseboard for experimenting I'll continue to watch and be subscribed to his videos for now. Will definitely be keeping an eye out for quack stuff though so thanks for your video alerting me to this!

I respect UV for taking a hard stance against Gerson therapies. Jen Journey was a FB friend of mine, for a couple of years. Because i was unable to give, i was rapt with guilt, and blinded by the personal connection that i had to Jen. When UV came out against supporting my friend, i was hurt and angry. It took me months, to forgive Swayze.
      To be clear-
I think that people should have the right to choose how they want to die, but i felt like UV was telling people not to honor the wishes of a dying girl. I also knew that Gerson therapy was ineffectual against cancers, and perhaps injurious to the already compromised immune system. I thought it was expensive urine, like high dose vitamin c. I didn’t realize how insidious and dangerous Gerson therapy really can be.
I have come to realize that the situation is much more complicated, with multiple factors to consider including the financial burden Jen was placing on her friends & family, and the false hope the doctors were giving her, with the painful treatments, and reassurances that her situation, and odds of recovery, were improving as her health continued to degenerate.
Jen was in a desperate situation, and fell prey to the scam, and died...
Thank you Swayze, for taking a stand against quackery. I’m sorry for how i treated you, and i’m hopeful that you’ll forgive me.

I came upon a UA-cam video where this woman had her son drinking 13 glasses of fresh juice a day to 'cure his autism symptoms ' and the entire family seemed to revolve around the mom juicing and badgering this child to drink the juice before the next glass was due. It looked awful poor kid.

Well, as the person who wrote "that one comment" I'm happy at least that telling people about my friend served for something. Thank you Swayze for this video! ❤

The fluoride thing is super annoying because I wanted to try powdered toothpaste to help reduce my plastic consumption.
The only powdered toothpaste I’ve ever seen with fluoride is from Colgate and it comes in plastic 😫
All of the other ones that come in glass jars don’t have fluoride!
      It’s highly irritating 😒

@@MartianBlues11 same here, but I've finally found a brand that makes them with fluoride, it's a German drugstore own brand though (dm), not sure if that's available anywhere else..?

UN is so so clever. She not only talks about nutrition and morals, but about global warming, agriculture practices and now cancer protocols. She is a spokesperson for Science.

Do you have a say as to which ads run in your segment? The reason I ask is that the ad at the beginning and middle of this segment, were for the Pure juicing machine; like 2 minutes long. And the ad mentions the Gerson Protocol extensively!! When I signed in to post this comment, both ads had changed to another product. Just an FYI.

Ugh. My dad has cancer and I swear to fucking g-d someone approaches us once a week with some "cure cancer scam". It's horribly frustrating and just so ridiculous

I'm one of the few who have misophonia, but can get behind certain ASMR videos. My biggest trigger are mouth noises and eating noises. Even your mouth will make certain sounds that give me nails on a chalkboard feeling. It's crazy as an adult to talk about this with my brother and we both have felt like this for so long, but never discussed it.

Kind of really off topic for your channel and selfish of me to request this, but would you be willing to do a video on either of these topics? the recent vaping related health scare? your thoughts on the long term usage of amphetamine salts to treat ADHD? I’m trying to do research on these topics myself but can’t seem to come to any insight the ways you always manage to do... i mean you’ll obviously not do either of those videos but if you see this do you have any tips on how you do such thorough and fruitful research?

I legit got a Gerson Therapy Ad on this video that's promoting the same juicer. It's like the algorithm just saw the name "Gerson" in the title and shoved what it thought was a related ad onto this video. It's so silly.

Hey, 2 things. 1) The ads in the middle of this were some Gersen juicing lady. Not sure if you have control over that but definitely thought you wouldn't like it. 2) Do you do a podcast? If not, you should consider it. The length of your videos is perfect for it, and I often find myself wishing I could listen and learn on the way to work.

Speaking of coffee up ones ass. One time i had this crazy headache and went to the ER after all said and done. A nurse aid comes in and out of no where starts telling us about coffee enema and how awesome it is and cures all. My husband’s jaw dropped. Like we don’t care but someone vulnerable could totally take that seriously
