  • www.myboxingcoach.com - This latest in my series of 90 second boxing tips offers a nice simple way of combining two popular boxing skills.
    We combine the boxing skills by using, you guessed it, boxing drills.
    Those of you who are familiar with my work will know that I am passionate and enthusiastic about boxing drills and how they upgrade and enhance your boxing style.
    Boxing drills are all about giving you the ability in a given situation to 'Let the training take over'.
    'The training took over'.
    You have heard that saying right?
    Soldiers, police officers, firefighters when faced with life and death situations regularly talk of ‘the training taking over’ to allow them to perform some breathtaking feat of skill and bravery.
    Well that’s what drills do for you as a boxer.
    Regular and disciplined execution of drills empowers the training to take over on your behalf.
    Work this drill at every opportunity; a minute here, 20 seconds there.
    Work it at a slow pace - slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
    You will see and feel benefits real quickly - get to the point where the training takes over.
    Any comments or questions below
    Thanks
    Fran

    Quality video Fran! I’m fairly new to boxing always find footwork slightly unnatural especially when I get tired it’s the first technique I let slip. I know it’s just repetition to make it second nature and fitness to sustain it. Thank you for your videos mate they do help 👊

    Thanks

    Hi Fran ! Hope you are fine. Thank you for your tutorials. Questions: In many boxing fights I see MIKE TYSON leaning very much forward while rolling. What would you say. Is it ok, because he still have his eyes on his opponent and he is a professional (he knows what he's is doing) ? Or would you say, his leaning forward is a little bit too much ?

    Had a question about the hook punch at the top of the roll and/ or pivot. I know you have the shoulder lose for rotational momentum and you keep your elbow joint structurally fixed welded tight upon fist contact in the hook punch but after contact in the hook punch does the forearm extend a little from the elbow or does the forearm contract towards the upperarm?

    I want to know if you hook pivot going to the left at the same time or you hook and then pivot.

    can one not pivot and hook simultaneously?

    • @dragonfist25
      @dragonfist25 7 років тому +3

      UA-cam-Nutzer #DOOM You can. It's called a "check" hook. It's often used as a counter punch that comes over top of your opponents cross. You're gonna lose power though because you're moving your feet while trying to punch so there is a tradeoff.

    • @youtube-nutzer2895
      @youtube-nutzer2895 7 років тому

      dragonfist25 i know it is a check hook just wanted to know if it was a good idea to do this after a pivot
      since it seems smart to change position after dodging punches

      Yes, absolutely. The shot can go before, during or after or a mix of any
