    If you can't do a simple 1,2 in sparring, then you can forget about doing any other combinations. Getting that right means you understand how distance and timing works. As a shorter fighter, I've found what works for me is a solid guard and getting in underneath my taller opponent. Body shots are your friend if you're short. Think of it as if you're cutting down a tree (a tree that moves and wants to punch you in the face).

      Is everyone here saved? Our relationship with God is the only thing that matters. God is real and God is love. God wants us to love Him above everyone and everything in exsistence. God also wants us to keep His commandments, love our neighbors as ourselves, and do our best not to sin. We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. This is why God sent His son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins so that all those who believe in God, do their best not to sin, and to live a life that is pleasing to God will not perish but have everlasting life. Heaven and hell exsist and the things we say and do in this lifetime will testify for us or against us and determine where we spend eternity. Forgiving others is very important. If we can't forgive others. God will not forgive us.
      Always remember our enemies are demons not the people they work thru.
      God expects everyone who knows the truth to tell everyone who has been decieved. There is only one way to God and eternal life and that is thru Jesus Christ. Keep God first, study His word, love and pray for everyone else as much as you pray for yourself.
      There's power in prayer. God is love and love is the fufillment of God's law. Freedom is free and Jesus Christ is the 🔑🔑🔑

    Fran thanks a lot for making all these videos. Really helpful. There's so many personal trainers out there pretending to be experts giving "boxing advice"...it's great to have a source you can trust from a real boxer and expert coach...not to mention the generous amount of content you've provided for free. In a world full of phonies (the internet) I for one appreciate the true expertise people like you offer. Great production, great information, and a funny guy.

    Awesome stuff Fran, I wish more people can see your vid or get your training programs/books.
    I used to boxxed as a hobby like 18 years ago, (I was 14 at that time), then I stopped after 3 years after my teacher moved.
    I just started again a couple months ago, and watching all of those UA-camr really make my questioning my intuition or my memory of the teaching I got.
    Just yesterday I found your vids and everything make sense again, screw those bullshits 500,000 views guys.
    One of the most crazy thing to me, is that to my memory, the punch always start from the legs, transfer to the hips, and then to the body and lastly the Arm extend out to make that shot. Even after 15 years without any training and gain 40 lbs, my legs are still in great shape and I always contribute that to the boxing I did. Then I watch those youtube vid that empasis on the hips, let the hip innicite the movement then the arm. I watch them, and follow them and always feel my shots is slow, weak and feel weird, not natural, after awhile I just ignore those advise and train base on my memory (I train at home with a heavy bags just to shred some lbs, my goal is shred all of these 40 lbs and be in shape again).
    After seeing your vids and your shot, it feel just right, it natural to me, thanks you sir, you rocks.

    Hi Fran, I really love your videos! In my opinion the best boxing instructions on youtube!
    One question about the 1,2: I've heard an other coach saying that you never should end a combination with the back hand (because you will be out of position for a split second, I guess). His advice was to always end the combination with a jab, left hook or to roll to the right after the back hand shot. I just wonder what your views on that are?
    cheers

    • @myboxingcoach
      @myboxingcoach 4 роки тому +2

      Yes, makes sense Max. Would not say always, but certainly as you throw the back hand you store up torque to led lead hand shots go, so why not let it go. Variations are always good, so throwing 2 and taking none is better than throwing 3 and maybe taking 2, especially if the opponent lands the final shot.

    Hey Fran, great video, great channel! You deserve 2 million more subscribers! In your opinion, how long should a beginner work on footwork and technique before advancing to working with bags, pads and eventually sparing partners? when should his first fight be. These are all assuming that he works hard, is fairly talented and listens to his coaches advice. What do you think?

    • @myboxingcoach
      @myboxingcoach 8 років тому

      +Strength Frank Hey Frank, thanks, that's really kind of you to say. My view is that footwork should be practised in drills, shadow boxing, heavy bags and pads right from the outset. Sparring should come probably 4-8 weeks later although very gentle 'open' sparring (with a more experienced guy looking after you) could come sooner. Tech sparring is also good. Worth checking out the sparring article on the MyBoxingCoach website, there's a video too.

    Mister Sands, regardless of physical condition, any person who starts moving their body at that speed will start breathing heavier into the mic. That's why you see singers have a sort of filter for their mics during studio recordings with a "breath sound threshold" those lil thingies will delete out of the recording. Also, If you moved slower us beginners would find it easier to appreciate the nuance in your technique :). Also, if you used a lot of those mouth guards that cover lower and upper teeth, with a hole in the middle for breathing, you might have gotten used to mouth breathing a bit which is the opposite of what they teach you in voice lessons

    Hi Fran, when you work the bag are you wearing contact lenses? Do you need to have a certain standard of vision to be able to box? Thx m8

      Ben Sisko No contacts. I am long sighted and have always worn glasses. There are eye tests involved in getting passed medically fit to box.

    Thanks for the video coach. Learning to play off range and distance has really helped me especially with taller fighters. The One Two in its many forms is simple but effective. I have been using the BTF for couple of years. If you want to see or have a good laugh - check out the link below. Great stuff as always.

    Why do you slightly turn your lead foot slightly when you jab?

      If you are comfortable and effective then yes, it makes you awkward to deal with.

    Do you believe stepping into the jab or (the falling step) generates more power as jack dempsey stated? And wouldnt that be the correct way to put the jab into motion?

    • @myboxingcoach
      @myboxingcoach 8 років тому +1

      +alex flores To be honest there are lots of variables when it comes to looking for power, especially with a jab. Will check out the falling step, get lots of questions on the falling step so I need to check it out.
