It doesnt need too much light. The ludwigia tends to grow in spirals and with smaller leaves when theres too much light and straighter with bigger leaves when there is low light. when it comes with getting the red coloring on the plant itself Im not sure if the amount of light is a key factor but i do know that the amount of iron is. now when it comes to sunlight, I dont think its a good light aorce unless the tank in question is outside in direct sunlight. If so then the depth in which its planted come into play. I dont know how deep the plant preferres to be, in relation to the sun, but thats why we use lamps on the fishtank. There are some LED lamps that are dimmable so you can experiment with how mich light it needs. If the tank is indoors, I wouldn't suggest sunlight as a light source. Hope that helps!!!
