That top turned out really cute! I always like these pattern drafting videos. I want to get to the stage you're at of "see it then sew it" 😊 Also.... glad you gave a shout out to those green pants. I was thinking, "Wow, those are nice pants - I would like something just like those," and then you said they were the Nellie Joggers! And I bought that pattern a while back - yay! I want mine to look just like yours, lol 😅
Yay! Thank you so much, I hope you enjoy the pattern. I made mine out of a tencel twill (I think) that I found at Joann fabrics. They are perfect summer pants.
WOW what a beautiful design and finished top! I really enjoyed you showing exactly how you created this pattern. I am not even close to do it myself, but I enjoy my delusion that maybe one day I will be able to create a new pattern from my block.😊
Great video. Love seeing your thought process. And…I want to see you working in more clothes you’ve made. Hmmm…maybe new pattern line from Pattern Scout just for the “work from home” crowd? The top was perfect and styled so well with all your previous makes. Always learn something from Pattern Scout. Granted, I won’t ever be so fearless when turning my bobbin screw as you did. Clutch my pearls! 😂
Thank you, Beth! That is actually a great idea for a capsule wardrobe pattern collection :) Lord knows I have SO many makes that I could wear on camera more often!
This tutorial was brilliant, Casey! I really appreciated seeing the pattern modification process as though on a computer screen, it really made sense to me that way! And watchjng your design evolve was fascinating 😊 Although the days of strappy bra tops are long behind me (I'm too "mature" to show that much skin!), I am intrigued by the way you added the cute little cap sleeves to the piece. I am tempted to give that a try when next I make a sleeveless top 🤔 although I realise it would need to be a very drapey fabric to have the desired effect. Tons of food for thought, thank you so much! 🙏
Thanks, Mara! I had actually filmed that as a tutorial as I was making the changes and it was kind of a mess, so I decided to make the diagrams instead...so glad it was helpful! Adding little flounces and ruffles is my go-to for a little extra coverage!
I'm not going to lie: The pattern drafting was a bit beyond my technical skills, but I appreciate your tutorial. Also, I was skeptical after the first muslin, but this turned out so lovely! Looks great on you. Thanks for another great video, Casey!
Thank you for demonstrating how to draft bust cups from a bodice block! That's incredibly useful information that opens up so many design options for me. Your top is super cute!
I love your top! I love watching your process and thinking of options to change it up or add to it to make a dress, etc. The top is something I would never wear because I’m 72 and I wouldn’t feel comfortable in it BUT a I have a 17 year old granddaughter that would love it. Thanks for all you do.
I have to comment again that you gave me the idea to add those sleeves to all my spaghetti strap summer dresses because I just don’t feel comfortable in spaghetti straps anymore. Always love your videos. They’re all really helpful.
Thank you for another inspiring video, watching you sew is very motivating. I need to keep sewing and trying to grow in skill & knowledge. I’ve been using my bodice sloper to design new patterns from. I’ve been sewing for about 7 years and only recently learned how to pattern hack. I am getting better, thx to videos like yours. Blessings!
Great video, Casey. While I’m not planning on drafting my own pattern, I thoroughly enjoyed your process. You take us from seeing the cute inspiration at Target, through all the drafting, muslins, reworking, rethinking, more muslins, and the final piece that, while inspired by a top at Target, looks nothing like it in the end! It is truly your own creation. Well done! My take away is that I can make more than fit alterations to my patterns. Design changes are not really much different. ❤
Ok - that top is adorable!! It was so great to see the drafting process for the bust cups - I’ll definitely be watching that section on repeat. I don’t have Illustrator, but I do have a bodice block that I made the analog way, and despite having SO many patterns, I want to *maybe* start playing with some drafting myself. Love that you’re wearing some of the beautiful things you’ve made!
Thanks, Paula Jean! So glad you enjoyed seeing the drafting process! I have so many rough drafts of patterns...many that I haven't even made yet haha. I love poking around with the drafting.
I’m really LOVING the wide leg slacks. I have been recently realizing I need to add a few to my wardrobe and then I see you wearing these. I think I will need to make a few linen pairs. They look really nice. And I am loving the Muslim of this top. You have me motivated to make my own tank tops. To make sure they fit me best and I can get the built in bra support I need.
I love it Casey, yet again another brilliant make,it’s so pretty. Love watching the process of your designs and seeing your vision come to life. You make it look so easy 🤗🤗🤗look forward to your next vlog
This was such a great video Casey. I just love learning how you pattern draft and watching your brain work. I have no where near the skills you have with drafting, but I'm learning. That top turned out so cute and you always look so good in close fitting cropped tops. I wish I had more of a waist. I'm straight up and down like a skinny boy with big boobs. lol...I look forward to your next pattern draft...and oh, I am still loving those wide leg pants..I may pull out my Lutterloh books and see what I can come up with. Hope you have a great week ahead.
That is about a thousand times better than the RTW inspiration top at target. I have been looking for your video on taking in a pair of jeans and I can’t seem to find it. I recently found a pair of Lee jeans at a thrift store almost exactly like the ones you just took in and I want to give it a try.
Hello Casey, I love your videos very much and they are always helpful. My I ask a question that has nothing to do with your newest video? I remember you talking about nippies. Perhaps with your Birdie video? But I can't find the make, model and link. Could you tell once again, please? Thank you so much.
Being a 32H and paying crazy money for bras, I traveled and took bra drafting and construction classes. Very interesting how you drafted this, as I learned old school paper drafting. Made custom bras and corsets/strapless wedding gowns for women who couldn't buy off the shelf. Cute top on you, but it's a fitted bodice, not a corset. Recommend books by Anne St Claire, Beverly Johnson, and Susan Khaljie. I don't know if any of them give in person instruction any longer.
Omg 😱. Amazing! I’m getting in the mood to try to make my own patterns. You inspires me 👏👏👏👏🤩🤩🤩🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️
You can do it! :)

What a cute top! I think the flutter sleeve really makes it special.
Thank you! Before I added the flutter, it was giving 90s tankini haha. That sleeve made a big difference!
I love this little top, turned out very nice 😊
Thank you! 😊
WOW what a beautiful design and finished top! I really enjoyed you showing exactly how you created this pattern. I am not even close to do it myself, but I enjoy my delusion that maybe one day I will be able to create a new pattern from my block.😊
Thank you! You could totally do this!
It’s just beautiful.
Thank you!
Gorgeous! As always Casey!
Thank you so much!
super cute and you made the drafting sound almost possible for those of us that don't yet have that skill. thanks for sharing.
Glad to know it! Thanks so much!
Very cute top!
Wow, that is super cute!!❤
Thanks! :)
I love watching the progress. It turned out so cute. Excellent. Thanks
Thanks so much! 😊
So cute!!!
Thanks!

Very pretty. The waist flounce brings it all together 🙂
Thank you! 😊 I love a flounce!

Beautiful. You’re so talented
Thank you so much!
That is a very cute top, the flutter sleeve and flounce really compliment the look.
Thank you, Glenda!
JUST LOVED THAT LOOK....GREAT CREATION!
Thank you so much!!
SO CUTE!!
Thanks, Theresa!

That was my journey with this project, too, tbh! haha :) Thanks!
Your top turned out beautifuly. Well done with the vision. The flutter sleeve adds a touch of class and whimsy👩🌾👩🌾👩🌾
Thanks, Susan!

You're welcome! Glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching!
That turned out so cute! Just goes to show that an inspiration piece does not have to mean “copy”.
Exactly! I knew it needed something a little extra for my taste :)
Wow beautiful top.😮
Thank you! 😊
Really cool drafting work and explanation, what a beautiful design!
Another fabulous job, Casey!!
Thank you so much!

Thank you so much, Denise! I had a lot of fun with this one! A little peek inside my brain! ;)
Thank you. Your top looks great and I really enjoyed your styling section at the end. Lots of learning for me in this, and inspiration too. 😊
I'm so glad you enjoyed that! Thanks so much!

Those pants are quickly becoming a fave in my wardrobe and it took me forever to finally make them! I keep finding things to wear them with!
Beautiful top
Thank you! 😊
The top turned out fantastic I love it.
Thanks! I am excited to wear it! :)
Very cute, well done! I think doing the sleeves on the bias will be even better ( like part of a circle).
Thanks! Great idea for the sleeves!
Loved the video! And the top is 🤌🏻 chefs kiss!
Yay! Thank you!
That came out so cute!
Thank you!
I love it Casey, yet again another brilliant make,it’s so pretty. Love watching the process of your designs and seeing your vision come to life. You make it look so easy 🤗🤗🤗look forward to your next vlog

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! That lutterloh kit has been so much fun. There are several patterns i want to try!

Thank you!! I think I shared that tip in this video: ua-cam.com/video/BXW-SI_8ZfE/v-deo.html
Super cute!
Thank you! 😊
So cute! ❤
Thanks!
I would need to adjust for very narrow shoulders 😕 but that is a super cute top
Hi I love those pants. Do you have a pattern for that?
Very interesting to follow your drafting process! What's the reason to put in a zip when there is also shirring?
I probably could have left off the zip, but I was paranoid about getting it over my chest. The original inspo didn't have a zip. :)
Hello Casey, I love your videos very much and they are always helpful. My I ask a question that has nothing to do with your newest video? I remember you talking about nippies. Perhaps with your Birdie video? But I can't find the make, model and link. Could you tell once again, please? Thank you so much.
Of course! Yes, I love them and use them all the time. These are the ones I purchased: amzn.to/3Js0wDm :)
@@PatternScout thank you so much 😘 have a nice weekend.
I am very new to sewing and I wanted to know what the purpose of darts is? Thank you.
Is it expensive to have fabric shipped from the UK to North America?
Love the 2nd pant make.😊
It was very reasonable (maybe $10? I can't remember) 🙌
Really cute top. Do you need someone to help you zip up the back?
Thanks! No, it is barely reachable for me to zip it myself haha :) But I can do it!
That is such a pretty top! Oh to be young enough to wear something so cute....sigh
Thank you! :)

I think the chapters are not correct for this video
Thank you I will fix that!!
Super cute!
Thank you! 😊
