I'm fairly new to sewing and have discovered that I love pattern hacking. Your videos have helped a lot in that area for me. I would rather focus money on a few versatile patterns and good fabric and use my mind to create. I get a unique garment that's special to me.
Before I found your channel I would try to get through my projects as fast as possible. But after watching your videos, I’m relearned to take my time and enjoy the process
You’re videos give me the confidence to pattern hack! I do it fairly often, whether changing necklines, sleeves or similar changes makes sewing a lot more rewarding. I found some fabric in a dress that inspired me to make into the Bridget tee.
Great video. Hacking a “pattern you already love” is the best way to expand and update your wardrobe. Thanks for demonstrating how easy it (usually)is.
I love your hacks Casey. I could watch hack videos for days. Your second hack is my favorite. I really like how you combined your t-shirt and skirt pattern to create the wrap, and of course the dye coloring is so pretty, sort of a vintage look. Also love the cropped cardigans. I have a bunch of those and I wear them with dresses. Like a sort of 50's vibe when I wear them with fuller skirts. Great job.
One of the best "hacks" to creating anything is that when you make a mistake, you just make it look like it was meant to be that way. Be it waist seams, drawing a line too thick, crochet, knitting, etc, any mistake can be a ✨feature ✨ and no one's the wiser.
All the hacks turned out so well. I see several I would like to try. (Sewing a seam around the waist of the t-shirt dress to take out the excess fabric was genus!) Your dye job on the wrap dress really elevated it. Think the color looks good on you and goes well with the coat you paired with it. I just made a muslin of the Joni top and am loving the shirring...it feels fitted but not tight. Will be making the wearable this week.
The wrap dress looks great on you. That style is supposed to look good on hour glasses, but I’ve made about 3 in 60 years, and they all went into the scrap pile.
Good morning Casey! Love these pattern hacks that you have done. The dresses came out spectacular. The dying of your fabric is so pretty. Absolutely love this video. Thank you 😀
Great hacks. Love the patterns. Love the fact you include bust sizing. How much stretch do you need in your fitted knit tops. I am looking to buy some super wash wool knit with no Lycra, so I was wondering if I could use your fitted knit tops pattern?
Such great tips! I have NEVER thought of using pre-shirred fabric for sleeve cuffs…brilliant! And the dyeing turned out so well - it looks tea-dyed. I actually recently made a wearable muslin of the Brigit and I love it. Now that the weather is cooling here, I might actually get to wear it! 😊
Thanks! I actually didn't consider using the shirring until I got it home and it made the project so much faster! I always find myself wishing that JoAnn had prettier rayon prints, and they had several rayon prints in this shirred fabric (sure do wish they would offer more of these as a non-shirred option)! And thanks for making Brigit!! :)
@@PatternScout You're so right! I've often wondered why JoAnn doesn't have more rayon challis -- I would think it's a no-brainer, since it's a fabric that almost everyone uses!
This is a great video! 😊 Would you ever consider doing a pattern hack video for your Birch vest and your Poppy blouse, turning those into dresses (especially the first one!😃)? I recently bought both patterns and their potentials are top of mind at the moment🙂
I had a dressmaker create body blocks for me comprising of bodice, skirt and pants. From that I trace the tag board pieces and then create what I want adding wearing ease, seam allowance and style fit. How I do pattern hacks. It was worth the money spent. So I don't hack commercial patterns anymore.
I know you are tall and I''m 5'4"so it will be different for me. My ? is: how do you know what length to make tunics or jackets the right length for the height? Now personally I hate the word "hack!" I prefer to use redesign. Anyway, I love your redesigns. I feel those garments are the most fulfilling. What do you think?
I use a measuring tape to measure from the waist to the length I want on my body, then adjust the pattern length from the waist to match. If you have a dress that you like the length of, you can try it on while you measure. I also always add an inch or two to that length when cutting for extra assurance (because I can always trim it to the perfect length).
Hey, Casey. I downloaded the wrap dress pattern on Patreon, but I dont have a skirt slower to use for the Brigit dress. Can I use the skirt section of this wrap dress to fit at the waist of the Brigit pattern? Would that work? I want BOTH dresses so badly.😂 AND, I saw the shirred fabric at Joanns yesterday. Yes ma'am. It must be dress season 🤔 .

Exactly! That is how I feel too. And once I learned a little pattern drafting and hacking, I didn't have to buy new patterns as often!
Before I found your channel I would try to get through my projects as fast as possible. But after watching your videos, I’m relearned to take my time and enjoy the process
I love knowing that! Thank you so much for watching!
That dye job on the dress really transformed it! I love all of them. Great work!
Thank you! Makes me want to dye more garments! haha
Grown up cottage core dress is exquisite!
Lol. I was looking at the M7969 and wondering where the hack was until I remembered that I did the exact same thing and I love it so much!

So far, you are just like me. I am addicted to fabric/dyeing fabric/fashion, etc. So nice to meet you!
The pleated shoulders are very clever!
Super cute makes!! That dye had a brilliant result xxxxxx
Thank you!!
Like the pleated shoulder hack. Design features to the rescue.
Love love love the shirring dress! Would love to see this class taught step by step on skillshare!
I love the way you used the shirring for the sleeve cuffs!
Love your new dresses, and thanks for the tips and inspiration! You’ve really helped a lot with how to “shape” around our curvy bits😊
I like the very first dress. So cute on you.
Thank you so much 😀

Thanks, Cathleen! :)
I had a dress that also had a little to much material in the back. It didn’t bother me to much but looked like it was wrong. Good idea here.

Yay, so glad you made the Joni pattern! And thank you for the kind words on my recent makes! :)
staaaahhhhp. that thrifted blazer is CUUUUUTE!
Right!? Such a find

Love, love this dress.
Thank you! 😊
I love that first dress. I am wanting some pre-shiirred fabric now. I used some for skirts long ago, and didn't know it still existed.
Excellent video, Casey! Pattern hacking is the best fun 😊
Thank you!
You are such an inspiration - i live seeing your process! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us 😊
The dye really transformed that dress!! 👍👍
Loved the content, really enjoyed it all.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Thank you for the pleating shoulder tip. I have a top that is a little too big and I will try that on it.
Absolutely awesome video with beautiful makes! I love how you share your entire process!
Another great video, loveeee the green dress it is gorgeous, such a simple dress but really impactful. Look forward to your next vlog as always 🤗🤗🤗
Thanks so much! I have more of that green fabric, trying to decide what to make with it, it's so nice to wear!
Very cute wrap dress!
That’s my favorite dress style also#1 I love this idea. Thank you!
As always your videos are so informative and spur me on. Thank you ❤

I would recommend a knit with at least 50% stretch in the horizontal direction. :)
Thank you, would love more vlogs like this one.❤

What an awesome video. Great designs.
Loved this video. First time I have been on your channel.
Wonderful!! Thank you 💖
OMG! You have got me thinking outside the box. Thank you so much. Love your videos, keep them coming 😊
I'm so glad! Thank you!

Looks good with the boots
I have a question: how many yards of material do I need to make a XXL nightgown? Satin.

Very successful! How much of the shirred rayon challis did you need for the Romy dress hack?
Thanks! I think I used about 3 yards
Great stuff, thanks 😊
Brilliant thank you
Great video love watching.

Yes, that is a good idea! It should match up identically with the Brigit Tee. Thanks, Vicki!! :)
Great video!
Brilliant!!
I call that the Elaine venice Dress.
Can we get a pattern for the wrap dress? 🙏🙏 I have been searching for one for a while now but can't find one I like.
You could add length to the Romy top’s peplum pretty easily. I get so many compliments when I wear that top!
I should really do a pattern for that one!
@@PatternScout yes please 😍
How much fabric did the first dress take?
I think i used about three yards :)
sana çiçekli kıyafetler çok yakışıyor bende terziyim
💕💕
Brilliant!!
