Sassy and comfortable. Coming home soon from a three month road trip and sewing this should be on the agenda. While in a Santa Fe boutique today I saw a similar linen dress and same color. Loose bias binding on the neck and shapeless form. It was $795 dollars. And a drawstring waist skirt with exposed selvage front seam for $650. My husband said, “You can design these for yourself!” Just need to finish some quilt products and move on. Thanks Casey.
It's wonderful how this 'peasant' style continues to come back into fashion! My mom bought me a dress in this style 45 years ago when I was 19 years old! It wasn't expensive but well made in cotton calico, blue background with small red flowers. I wore a red leather belt with it and thought I looked fabulous...lol. Making it in linen is such a good idea. Your version is lovely.
I love that! So funny how we remember those pieces that made us feel great! ANd the styles always come back around...I have so many vintage patterns that are still in style or are coming back!
@@PatternScout I have a few vintage patterns too. I may never make them but I love reading the instructions on how they're constructed. Scored a Better Homes and Garden sewing manual published in 1970 in pristine condition at a local Goodwill for $2! The drawings and colors are fabulous. So enjoy your channel.
I like the way you have lowered and squared the neckline. So many peasant patterns have really wide necklines which is not so great for those of us who MUST wear a bra but don't want the straps to show.
That is the cutest dress and I am definitely making the maxi version. I'm going to do rayon/challis in a rusty/floral fabric. I am beside myself that you have patreon now...and YES I subscribed to it this morning...can't wait to get all up in what you have in store for us...thanks so much. I am so excited.
All the peasant top inspired garments are incredible. The blue dress is so cool. I think the blue button through skirt with white top looks really good.
Hello Casey from Queensland / Australia… learning to see again after fifty years of no sewing… you are an inspiration… basic sewing/ amendments.. so descriptive to help us through our projects.. great work Christine
I was so happy when I put that blazer ad boots on with the dress. So glad I left it long! I'm planning to make a wool blazer for fall and this just bumped it in my queue! :)
This pattern is adorable! I am very new to sewing so I am afraid of shirring, I didn't know I needed elastic thread and that it only went in the bobbin. There is so much to learn! I love drafting patterns! (It's my favorite part because I'm still so bad with the machine!)
I cannot believe how fortuitous this video is. Yesterday I picked up the most adorable dress at a yard sale and I was wondering how I could replicate it. Aside from the fabric being different it is nearly identical to your long maxi version. Thank you!!
Thank you, Casey, for the drafting instructions. It's a cute pattern for all three items. I'm thinking that about a metre of fabric would be plenty for the top too 😍 I do love your videos x
Loved it. You are so talented and I love watching you sew your incredible makes. Plus, you are a great model to show off your great makes ! And… I was #1!,, I’m from northern IN! Neighbors, almost! Happy Sewing and Creating too!!! GigiW
Loved the video and you made making up the dress look so easy. Loved the little top and the long dress. I would make the short dress longer for myself as I am older and feel the need to cover more leg 🥹 but the length looked really lovely on you. Many thanks. Keep doing the vids 💜
Very lovely pattern! I just purchased some light weight linen that will make a nice blouse. I will see how that goes and move on to the dress. This looks very versatile especially for sleeve length and where you put the shirring. Your drafting videos are giving me some confidence to attempt a drafted pattern but in the meantime it is great you did it for us. Think starting a patreon is a good idea. Thank you for another great video.
I love it!!! I bought some of the blue linen intending to upholster my cedar chest when I remodeled my bedroom. I want to make that dress when I get I can.
Thank you so much for the drafting tutorial. I’m going to attempt the shirt version with some coral linen blend fabric I bought way too much of on sale and see if it’s flattering on me. Just bought way too much shirring elastic too since it seems to be out of stock everywhere in my local fabric stores. These look so good on you!
I almost lost my mind trying to do the serging and turning of the front slit. I ended up making a 2-inch wide bias facing which I sewed into a narrow vee, cut & turned along the stitching line. I would LOVE for you to make a short, closeup video explaining how to serge a slit that looks as neatly done as yours does.
Thanks! :) I don't currently have a pattern for it, but I did a video showing how I made it: ua-cam.com/video/NUqQMZvnAks/v-deo.htmlsi=sb2if76rJsnQTC--
Thank you! You could do a very simple flounce/ruffle to create some coverage at the shoulders similar to a sleeve. But the shoulder would need to be drafted or adapted to create a true sleeve :)
Yes, the shirring is done with a regular presser foot (that is what I use). The elastic thread is what creates the gathers in the fabric, so no special foot is required. :)

This dress is “sew” cute. Thanks for the tutorial.

Yes! This! I am more comfortable in a top like this when I can wear a supportive bra and not have it showing!

Just great. Beautiful. Love most the white peasant blouse together with the blue midilength skirt
All the peasant top inspired garments are incredible. The blue dress is so cool. I think the blue button through skirt with white top looks really good.
Thank you! That skirt/top combo was a last minute idea and I really liked that one too!

Your videos are always such a delight to watch 😍 I love your attention to detail.
Thank you so much, so glad to know that! :)
So romantic! Now I’m tempted to try drafting this with my analog sloper…🤔 That maxi version looks so good with the boots & jacket!

I love the combination of the white top with jeans ❤❤❤ Also is super cool be able to use a regular bra! 😊❤
I just love watching you create your beautiful garments. You are a very skilful teacher! 🌷

The Amazon linen is fabulous

You're so welcome! Yes, I think a meter of fabric would be just about right for the top!
Beautiful! 😍
Your directions are awesome! Thank you … off to the sewing room I go. 👏
So excited about your Patreon page! I've already signed up and downloaded the dress pattern. Now to pick out material!

Thank you, neighbor! :) So glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful makes! Love working with linen & shirring. Love that white top!
Love all the pieces! So versatile, fun and dress up or down❤
Genius idea to use bias maker to make drawstring Casey! Thank for sharing this looks fab.
Thanks! Those bias tape makers are so handy!
Once again beautiful makes so clever.
Really cute and versatile pattern xxxxx

So cute!
Stunning
Yay! A pattern scout vid!
Thanks so much for this video, I was able to create this type of top for my 16" doll.
Joined patreon and excited to make this dress this weekend!
Yay! Thank you! :)

So glad to know that! Thank you! A pattern like this is a great intro to drafting. Very forgiving and easy to fit!
I'm looking forward to sewing this!!
Hi, oh what a cute little dress. Very much my style with the empire waist. I would love to make me one, too. Thank you!
I love it!!! I bought some of the blue linen intending to upholster my cedar chest when I remodeled my bedroom. I want to make that dress when I get I can.
Super cute, I'm making this dress soon. Thank you ❤
SO dang cute!! ❤👏👏👏
Absolutely perfect!

Love it! I gonna try it out
Looks amazing! Thanks for the tutorial. Subscribed ❤
Thank you!
I love this thank you!
Perfection!
They all look great. Could it come with long sleeves?
Thank you!!
My grandma taught me to use a lint roller on my cutting mat to get out all the little threads that can get stuck in!
I almost lost my mind trying to do the serging and turning of the front slit. I ended up making a 2-inch wide bias facing which I sewed into a narrow vee, cut & turned along the stitching line. Love the pattern and styling 😊
I need to make this!
Can you please make a separate video for the white top only
Casey, I really love the last skirt you had on. Is that your pattern? Gorgeous makes!
Thanks! :) I don't currently have a pattern for it, but I did a video showing how I made it: ua-cam.com/video/NUqQMZvnAks/v-deo.htmlsi=sb2if76rJsnQTC--
Love your patterns. I purchased your Flora dress pattern. Love that dress. Is there anyway sleeves could be adapted for that pattern?
Thank you! You could do a very simple flounce/ruffle to create some coverage at the shoulders similar to a sleeve. But the shoulder would need to be drafted or adapted to create a true sleeve :)
Great dress, looks fabulous Unfortunately A$8.50pm too much for patreon given cost of living these days. Wish you all the best with it
Can you make the shirring if you don't have the shirring presser foot?
Yes, the shirring is done with a regular presser foot (that is what I use). The elastic thread is what creates the gathers in the fabric, so no special foot is required. :)
@@PatternScout GO GREEN
What program do you use for drafting the pattern?
Hello. I have joined patreon and printed pattern and I’m wondering about the sleeve lengths. In your UA-cam have you chosen capped or short sleeves?
The blue dress is the 'short sleeve' and the white top is the 'cap sleeve' (it's a very subtle difference) :) Thanks for signing up for Patreon!
Not able to find this pattern
I would love to buy this pattern can you tell me where I can buy this

Just curious, do you have paper patterns, or are they all PDF?
Right now just PDF patterns :)
