    I had to stop vocal lessons 5 years ago due to finances. It was the happiest and most confident I’ve ever been. I sang on stage. I was ready to record music. Since then, I never stopped singing but I gave up the pursuit of perfecting my voice. This is the first time I am returning to a vocal warm up since then. Every time I would try again, I would be too overwhelmed with the feeling like it’s too late for me and my dream is dead. I mourned the person I once was. I felt like I wasted five years of my life and set myself back. But I am determined to try again because it’s my passion above everything. It’s never too late to get back into doing what you love

    Just a helpful tip, when you do these only go as high as you can COMFORTABLY go. I count up on my fingers after I can’t do it and then count down so I can jump back in where I’m comfortable. You don’t want to hurt or strain your voice so that’s what I recommend :)

    I just recently competed in a national vocal competition and I didn't make it to the next round. I'm not totally bummed out about it to be honest. I know that I've become a better singer especially with using these vocals warm ups. Just because we don't make it on to the next round of things or don't get where we want, doesn't mean we aren't good. Keep the good work when it comes to anything in life! I just know you sound amazing!

    Update:
    "if you're gonna look stupid, look stupid all the way"
    -Eric Arceneaux
    Day 1: A bit too hard to hit the high notes and I feel less stupid doing these exercises haha. A trick to reach the high notes try humming them first and then doing them normally.

    • @ggoo4554
      @ggoo4554 5 років тому +37

      try smiling while hitting the high notes

    • @childofthelivinggod.
      @childofthelivinggod. 4 роки тому +27

      Oh, also make sure to have your mouth open so the sound doesn't get trapped and muffled and you can hit the notes better. Sometimes I sing with my mouth open the tiniest bit and I can't hit the note I'm trying to hit, but when I allow the sound to come out by opening my mouth wider I am able to hit them. At first it might seem silly or uncomfortable to sing with your mouth wide open but in my experience it helps. Just a tip, hopefully it works! ^^

    As someone who is a singer passionately, warm ups are one of THE most important things you can do for your voice when singing. Helps stretch out your vocal chords. Also if you cant hit a note one day, if you practice warming up to that note, you will be able to hit it before long!

    • @hiding229
      @hiding229 4 роки тому +10

      First, make sure you’re breathing correctly, from deep down where your diaphragm is (right under where your ribcage ends in the center).
      Second, make sure you’re not carrying any tension in your neck, face, shoulders or jaw.
      Third, you’re going to want to learn about how to raise your soft palate in the back of your mouth as well as finding resonance in your facial mask as opposed to your chest. It has to do with where you’re placing the notes, and the air in your technique if that makes any sense. (I’m not a vocal coach but I did have some instruction in the area.)

    • @olani9268
      @olani9268 4 роки тому

      @@hiding229 thank u but when I said Kermit the frog its because if I try to be louder that is literally what I sound like and it feels like my tongue is too big for my mouth and my head voice is all in the back of my throat like its clogged. Also I always have my hand on my stomach so that when I inhale I'm expanding my diaphragm but when I exhale it doesn't feel like its coming from my diaphragm and if I try too hard to make it come from my diaphragm it sounds even more like Kermit the frog but if not its pretty but its so airy and barely makes a sound!!!

    • @hiding229
      @hiding229 4 роки тому +1

      Don’t force the air out of your diaphragm, just let it release as you use it. And it sounds like you have some tension in your tongue, particularly toward the back. Try relaxing it as much as possible, even try singing with it hanging slightly out of your mouth for a bit to find the relaxation in it.

Throat coat tea is a life saver. Put some honey in and it helps a lot. A nice full warm up beforehand is always nice. I would 30 minutes before I had to start to get ready and a little more before mic check. Endurance is key
