What a GIFT this is. I hope people realize it. I'm very grateful to find it. I'm a professional singer with Broadway credits. You'd think I'd have a million warm-ups recorded but I do not. I used to sing all day every day! Since the pandemic started, I haven't really felt much like it and have felt really depressed. At the moment I am recovering from abdominal surgery and it still hurts a little bit to breathe let alone sing! As soon as I can, I'll be doing these exercises because I need to get back to doing what I loved most! Thank you for providing this for free.
- Beforehand: be hydrated, do stretches, stand straight, sigh, yawn, start focusing on your singing session, feel happy about doing it :-) - Humming (softly!): activates your vocal cords (in case you haven't been speaking until now - Mum: start projecting (feel the "m" vibrate your lips and open your jaw to "spit out" the "ah"s) - Lip roll: loosens your lips, warms up embouchure muscles, engages air flow control, massages your throat (beginner note: this is a skill in and of itself, don't be discouraged if you can't do it just yet!) - Goog: raises your soft palate, requires you to maintain good embouchure, glottal attack further warms up muscles in your throat - Beginner addition: throughout the entire warm up you train your muscle memory for volume and pitch (intervals) and your range. Aim for clean phonation and consistence. Get familiar with your singing voice. - Intermediate addition: throughout the entire warm up you can train your mixed voice and improve your vowel shape and resonance as well as projection. Happy singing everyone (This is a useful comment I copied from another video 💙) Credit to faselblaDer3te

Here’s some motivation: I’ve been doing these exercises for over three years knowing nothing about singing and I’ve improved A LOT. Practice everyday, if you don’t have 20 minutes you can use the other 10 or 5 minute videos from this channel. IF I CAN DO IT YOU CAN DO IT TOO. Good luck!
It’s easy to want to turn this up loud but i highly recommend listening to it quietly as listening to it loudly, in my experience, has lead me to sing louder and strain my voice. Try listening at a volume you could easily talk over.
Plus, i think if you have it quiet, you can clearly hear your voice, so you know if you're starting to sound good and if you're getting better at controlling your voice
@cursedegg1622 I've been screaming for around 27 years. I feel like I thrash my vocals more when I lean into hard singing than I do when I'm screaming. I use my diaphragm alot when I scream. When my stomach gets tired and sore, I use my throat more, and that's when my throat gets thrashed.
I had the funniest thing happen to me while I doing this warmup... Sometimes while I do this warmup I like to do some online gaming. So my headphones are in, I'm playing the warmup and I'm singing 'Mommy made me mash my M&M's' at the top of my voice. Then all of a sudden I can hear something over the warmup, confused I remove my earphones to notice that I'd left my microphone on and was singing directly into a party full of bemused people, who by the way are laughing their heads off and screaming 'Mommy Mommy Mommy' back at me. Safe to say I've never turned off a game so quick it was funny and traumatising at the same time haha!

Ive been doing the 10 minute excercise for a few weeks now before rehearsals and today was the first time to try the 20 minute one. I enjoyed the complexity of this😊 thank you for putting this out there.
I've been using this for two years. I started my singing journey 3 1/2 years ago and I can happily say that I am grateful for such a good warm up tool. Thank you!
Wow! When I did this yesterday for the first time, I struggled at times with breath and with going for chest voice to head voice. My voice also felt a bit strained after. Today after the second time around I can already see a big improvement during the exercises and my voice now feels like I did some nice stretching before a workout! Awesome, thanks for posting! I’m going to start doing your voice workouts! I might have to do 4 hour sets 6 days a week for my next job, so I need to build up stamina.
@@soIeilstch its ok everyone is different that's why they need to extend their vocal range so you can start when comfortable and end when you can't go any further. this will also help increase your vocal range so it would be a win-win.

You are welcome
Ive been doing the 10 minute excercise for a few weeks now before rehearsals and today was the first time to try the 20 minute one. I enjoyed the complexity of this😊 thank you for putting this out there.
Thank you for making this! I used to have a playlist of your videos so this is really convenient.
You are welcome
Me:ShooOoooOooOoooee
Mom: Your shoes are over there
Me: *shOoooOoOooOoe*
Mom: FOR THE LAST TIME YOUR SHOES ARE OVER HERE THIS HAPPENED YESTERDAY!!!!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 i laughed during whole bruh!! 😂😂😂
😂😂
plz make one with a larger vocal range
I agree. I get to the top and I'm like ahhhh if only it went up a 3-5 more keys.
I can’t even get to the top of this
@@soIeilstch its ok everyone is different that's why they need to extend their vocal range so you can start when comfortable and end when you can't go any further. this will also help increase your vocal range so it would be a win-win.
Well these are just warm ups which you're supposed to do before exercises.
@@liljadadadottir6422 I miss some ranges downwards actually :/
Love this one mate. Please do a 30 minute version.
already created it ;)
For those having trouble with the lip rolls, lightly touch your index fingers to your dimples! 😊
That was extremely helpful
I don’t have any dimples
I really enjoy these vocals exercises and warmups. What are some good tips for improving tone?
Im glad you like it. Might make a video about it some day
When you're singing, try to smile or imagine you're smiling, I find it helps :) I'm sure there's many other ways as well if you google it :)
Imitate your fav singers I found my falsetto & voice, by imitating the Weeknd then imitate another singer not just ur fav artist that’s all I can give hope this helps.
this is so very helpful i use your viddeos almost every day! i like to read threw the comments and see all the fellow commenters and singers! 🥰🥰
Tonight I’m singing with Primus. I needed this.
this helps me so much before my voice lesson!! thank you!

Thank you so much for all these exercises and warm ups. Not only do we always do the warm ups before a show I have everyone in the band doing the range extension workouts and more! These videos work!

Use this for every practice, recording or show.
Love!
When English is your first language and saying mommy made me mash my m&m’s is all of a sudden a challenge.
What does that actually mean? Everyone's saying this!
Imagine a foreign now!😅
I'm geordie and don't have this issue

thank you
It is, that’s why I’d recommend slowing down the video’s speed, so you can practice accuracy first, then speed later. 🤗
@@davidpottinger9511 oh thank uu❤️
I’ve done this exact warmup at least 5 times a week for well over a year… before every practice and performance - more than 250 times. It’s very helpful to let me know what kind of shape my voice is in and helps with confidence too. If I nail the mommy made me mash my M&Ms I know I can make it through the set
me: mommy made me mash my M&Ms

yes, what a bad mommy-
Exactly, I’m concerned about this

This brought me back to my elementary school chorus days
my singing improvement is all thanks to this channel - thanks so much!
Thanks so much for sharing it! It the direct approach that I most like in this lesson, because you didn't waffle but explain briefly the exercises.

How many times should we do this in a day ? And can we drink water in between
Just once before you do more challenging stuff. Remember.. It's just a warm up, so it's just supposed to get your muscles nice and warm so you don't get injured when you sing. + you will be able to sing more easily
@@Jacobsvocalacademy Thank you for the advice!
