What a GIFT this is. I hope people realize it. I'm very grateful to find it. I'm a professional singer with Broadway credits. You'd think I'd have a million warm-ups recorded but I do not. I used to sing all day every day! Since the pandemic started, I haven't really felt much like it and have felt really depressed. At the moment I am recovering from abdominal surgery and it still hurts a little bit to breathe let alone sing! As soon as I can, I'll be doing these exercises because I need to get back to doing what I loved most! Thank you for providing this for free.

    - Beforehand: be hydrated, do stretches, stand straight, sigh, yawn, start focusing on your singing session, feel happy about doing it :-)
    - Humming (softly!): activates your vocal cords (in case you haven't been speaking until now
    - Mum: start projecting (feel the "m" vibrate your lips and open your jaw to "spit out" the
    "ah"s)
    - Lip roll: loosens your lips, warms up embouchure muscles, engages air flow control, massages your throat (beginner note: this is a skill in and of itself, don't be discouraged if you can't do it just yet!)
    - Goog: raises your soft palate, requires you to maintain good embouchure, glottal attack further warms up muscles in your throat
    - Beginner addition: throughout the entire warm up you train your muscle memory for volume and pitch (intervals) and your range. Aim for clean phonation and consistence. Get familiar with your singing voice.
    - Intermediate addition: throughout the entire warm up you can train your mixed voice and improve your vowel shape and resonance as well as projection.
    Happy singing everyone

I’ve been doing these exercises for over three years knowing nothing about singing and I’ve improved A LOT.
Practice everyday, if you don’t have 20 minutes you can use the other 10 or 5 minute videos from this channel.

It’s easy to want to turn this up loud but i highly recommend listening to it quietly as listening to it loudly, in my experience, has lead me to sing louder and strain my voice. Try listening at a volume you could easily talk over.

    • @Jadeigital
      @Jadeigital 5 років тому +16

How long have you been screaming and how much stress do you put on your voice when screaming?

    • @kylevansant5083
      @kylevansant5083 8 місяців тому

@cursedegg1622 I've been screaming for around 27 years. I feel like I thrash my vocals more when I lean into hard singing than I do when I'm screaming. I use my diaphragm alot when I scream. When my stomach gets tired and sore, I use my throat more, and that's when my throat gets thrashed.

I had the funniest thing happen to me while I doing this warmup...
Sometimes while I do this warmup I like to do some online gaming.
So my headphones are in, I'm playing the warmup and I'm singing 'Mommy made me mash my M&M's' at the top of my voice.
Then all of a sudden I can hear something over the warmup, confused I remove my earphones to notice that I'd left my microphone on and was singing directly into a party full of bemused people, who by the way are laughing their heads off and screaming 'Mommy Mommy Mommy' back at me.
Safe to say I've never turned off a game so quick it was funny and traumatising at the same time haha!

Commenting my progress to keep me motivated.
Day One: Done, its hard because half of it isn't in my vocal range.
    Day Two: Done
Day Three: done halfway bc theres ppl around and thats just awkward .
Day Four: Don’t yet feel any progress but that should be normal since I only just started
Day Five: Did it. I feel like every time I sing I hit the notes more often than before.
Day Six: did it. I feel like I'm improving every day. I also feel like my vocal techniques improve by just doing this.
    Day Seven: Did it.
Day Eight: Did it. It's so much easier to hit the notes. My voice doesn't crack that often anymore.
    Day Nine: Did it.
    Day 10: Did it
    Day 11: skipped
    Day 12: did it
Day 13: Forgot. My mental health isn't the best either so excuse me.
    Day 14: Did it.

@@JoeMama-fp4gc dont try to hit all the notes! this is a warm up for all vocal types, switch up and down the octave as you need! If you try and hit all the notes you may harm your voice!! It's also important that this wont help you to "learn to sing" if you were disappointed from not seeing progress, this just helps you not injure yourself and to sound your best when you sing. To get better at singing its important to seek out online lessons, or pick a song you like that's in your vocal range, practice and give it your best :)

HONESTLY, it worked for me and still still does. I started last June 2020 during COVID-19, and I can attest to the fact it helps develop singing techniques. I can reach notes now which I cannot hit before. And I can noticeably sing notes clearer than before. It is as if my notes were polished.

^o^ THANK YOU for creating these warm ups for us. I am seriously soo grateful.
I used to be in choir and I miss it so much. I was starting to feel bummed out because i've been missing choir and playing music, but this makes me so happy and warms my heart as I work to get out of this rut and back into what I love❤️
I always loved the vocal warm ups.. I think they're fun, uplifting and smoothing.
Plus, they're important for your voice and breath.
I am so happy and grateful that I can do some good ol vocal warm ups again now :)

Wow! When I did this yesterday for the first time, I struggled at times with breath and with going for chest voice to head voice. My voice also felt a bit strained after. Today after the second time around I can already see a big improvement during the exercises and my voice now feels like I did some nice stretching before a workout! Awesome, thanks for posting! I’m going to start doing your voice workouts! I might have to do 4 hour sets 6 days a week for my next job, so I need to build up stamina.
