I usually use a vocal warmup by Verba Vocal Technique (here on YT) before rehearsals and shows. My band is on a hiatus whilst our drummer recovers from a motorcycle accident and so I’ve fallen out of my home practice routine. A few days ago I sang along to a song whilst in the kitchen then decided to record a piece of it, without doing any warm up (and I had drank so much caffeine that day and hadn’t even eaten and it was already 4pm!! So stupid of me lol. Now I’ve damaged my chords a little and may even have a displaced Hyoid bone (clicking sensation when I swallow 😭).
I came to YT to look for a more extensive warmup so that I can safely rehearse at home whilst on band hiatus and in prep for a new project I’ve been invited to join. I was so stressed the other night about this clicking sensation in my throat that I couldn’t sleep!!
All of that is so say I really really hope that this warmup works as well for me as it does for you 🤣 ❤

@@hezekiahthompson6817I’m sure you will! It took me until I turned 30 to finally record and release with my bands. If it can happen for me then it can for you ❤❤❤

I’ve been doing these warmups for a couple years and I get tons of compliments of how much my voice has changed and the work I must be putting in. And the only major thing I’ve changed is doing this warm up before every rehearsal and every performance. It’s made a huge in vocal cord stamina and agility. ❤️❤️

vocal warm ups are ESSENTIAL for strengthening your voice to sound better. if you want to be a better singer you MUST commit to daily practice and if you cant do this 40min video, there is a 20min, 10 minute or 5 minute one. you also should be doing breathing excersises, and PLEASE educate yourself on retraction and vocal closure and lastly, stay hydrated because vocal health is super important (research good vocal health tips too!) these few things should have you seeing improvements in as short as 2 weeks to a month! and you will just keep getting better. dont give up :)
i have been commited for a few months now along with guidance from a singing teacher (which is not essential as long as you are doing research, i have given some info my teacher has taught me above) and i have seen amazing improvements.

Best way to recover from voice damage is not to use your voice and let vocal cords rest. It’ll take about 3-5 days for you to get it back.Remember that speaking voice is the most damaging so avoid talking as much as possible.

This is the first time I’ve done vocal practice for this long, and I sang a song after I finished to test how my voice felt. It took noticeably less effort to sing the song than usual! My voice/throat does feel kinda tired (no pain) but I’m chalking that up to its first long workout. I’m going to continue with this video daily for awhile and see what difference it makes!

That shouldn’t be happening. I can tell you with 99.9% certainty that it’s not a stamina issue, but a breathing issue. Also I can tell you with 99.9% that it’s happening because of two things you are doing: first and most importantly , you are forgetting to breathe. Between every step (half-step really but you know what I mean) you should be taking a good deep breath. I can almost guarantee you that you’re not doing that, as it isn’t something we feel naturally inclined to do, but something we have to be conscious of doing. The second thing is, you are likely hunching over, or at the very least not sitting up perfectly straight, as this is also not something that comes naturally. When you do that, you are compressing your diaphragm/lungs basically all the most important body parts for singing. Always be checking your posture and always make sure you’re taking deep breaths. IF on the 0.01% chance that doesn’t fix it and it really is a matter of stamina, that means you are singing too hard. Too forcefully. You know what I’m trying to say. Dial it back a bit, remind yourself there is no audience, volume is not a factor, and just let it come comfortably. But like I said, it’s probably the former. I hope this helps you

Depends on the vocal workout and the mix. Knowing your limits is key! I've had practices for 6 hours and shows for 4. Played hardcore for a long time and solo for even longer.
Know your limit. When your voice says stop, stop. But singing longer each day helps to build those muscles!
