imperial fleet management in a nutshell

I love Clone Army ships, they prove you don’t need massive ships to have epic battles
The republic is my favorite faction in the Star Wars universe
I love the stupidity of this comment when you consider a lot of republic ships were large
@@iamReddington I was talking about the Empire, but thanks for being rude
But... The Republic ships where massive as well
@@greyhunter3271 smaller than the Empire
I love this ship since it has landing gear for a ship of its size in order to help aid unloading with its ramp. I’m sure there are bigger ships with landing gear, but still.
Venators can do that too. Look at the Battle of Kashyyyk.
@@FischerFilmStudio but venators need special landing stations
I think the spherical control modules of the lucrehulk had small landing feets too.... but yes luckehulk module its a ball and venator and aclamator are triangles and Tiangles rule!
So its mor sexy the acclamator
@@bocktordaytona5656 yeah the core ship had landing legs. Also for future reference it's triangle (I'm not trying to be an annoying person who corrects people or anything just wanting to help)
Jesus you need a Life
Republic version of the Acclamator could bring in heavy artillery on the ground. The Imperial version most likely needed the bigger crew because it probably sacrificed all that storage space for more turbolasers and proton torpedo launchers to engage enemy forces in space.
uh maybe they needed a few hundred more on weapons but not 19000, i think he is right and the empire just wanted to creat more jobs lol
The fact that this ship lasted way into the galactic civil war under rebel use really shows how durable and versatile this ship is, think of how many x-wings and a-wings could fit in this
My problem in general with Star Wars ships is that they don`t seem to make technological jumps at all. We can go back 10.000 or 50.000 years and the ships look the same. For the early sith era comics they made new designs in the comics, but afterwards they all look like they look in the modern star wars movies somehow. I don`t know if a sith ship from knights of the old republic would be any better or worse than "modern" ones.
@@thomask5434 thats like aliens looking at us right now and seeing that thousands of years ago we still used fire and wheels so we haven't advanced at all
@@thomask5434 A way to view it is like an old fantasy setting where everything is permanently mediveal in theme and technology.
Cause yea, outside of that looking in most any kind of actual reasoning I have yet to find a believable explanation for such long stagnation.
@@thomask5434 They look the same, but the technology isn’t.
It’s basically the principle that once a design that works has been found it won’t be altered much.
Take for example firearms: guns from 100 years ago basically have the same general parts as our modern guns.
There is a chamber, there is a trigger assembly, there is a magazine, a barrel and a muzzle.
Many have tried to bring forth new concepts, but it all eventually fails and what’s left will be these components.
@@AnonD38Ah no. Thousands of years cannot be compared to 100. and in fact firearms today are far more advanced and look nothing like the comparatively primitive typical preww2 wooden stocked bolt action rifle designed when infantry charges were still a thing.
I love Ameda's reaction to seeing these massive grey triangles. He's just so awe inspired
I like the combination of Legends and Canon lore with this ship.
Legends or Canon it's the same ship. Just use one or the other to fill in the gaps

Me, using a modified Acclamator for a story I'm writing:
"A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one."
What's your story about?
No joke I'm doing the same thing lol. Thought about using an Artiquens-class cruiser until I realized how small it is.
@@lt.danhooper1635 maybe use the upgraded arquitens (my favorite star wars ship btw) from the mandalorian season 2 ? I saw a video about it and it is much bigger than the original crusier.
@@xXxLegolas007xXx Yeah I just watched that video. Been trying to figure out a way that a smuggler could get his hands on one.
@@lt.danhooper1635 well after the galactic civil war I bet there was much chaos and many deserted from the Empire and maybe some ships were left abbandond or adrift in space. Or sold to the black market. I am sure you find a way. In such a galaxy full of opportunities everything is possible:D
I will always remember this ship as the smaller venator
Same here 💀
Venetor Junior
@@ylmazirdenyazc8393 basically yes
Never would I have thought a troop carrier like this would be able to bombard a planet and give the damage to a planet explained.
Underrated ship. Usually only hear about Venators.
I wonder why the empire didn't invest in mass-build Acclamator-class cruisers.
The real reason is cause star destroyers were built for orbital bombardment and dropping the troops were secondary cause the storm troopers were worthless.
General Kenobi!
The remaining acclamators were used as cargo or prison vessels I think. But at the point of the empire there was not real reason to transport this many troops all at once. Also palpatine wanted to quickly replace all Republic vehicles, ships, equipment etc. To signify that a new era has become and that the Galaxy is stronger than ever.
Because they did not fit the "Tarkin Doctrine" and the Emperor did not want any remembrance of the Republic era.
I wonder why they didn't use the ships of the republic navy incorporating them into battle groups.
If they had used acclamators, venator's, etc the rebellion would have never stood a chance. Heck the most effective ship they used against them was the Arquitens Class Light Cruiser.
There are very few ships that fit their role perfectly with no waste and this was one.
With how well this ship was made it's mind boggling that the Venator was such a miss.
I guess the republic needed something bigger.
@@twistedyogert ??? What in my comment is this a response to?
I wasn't wondering why they made the Venator I was commenting that it's not nearly as well designed compared to the Acclamator.
@@Nidhoggrr both ships have their roles the venator being a star fighter carrier and battle ship so it accomplishes that role
@@EricMarr-do7bd I didn't say it failed at the role. I said it was not as efficient in comparison.
Actually the venator costed 59 million, and the aclimator costed 111 milion. there is a reason everything in this ship seemed so good, it was because it costs more than 2/3 the cost of an isd and almost double that of a venator
The things landing gears are awesome.
Wish for video about the Eternal Empire, Eternal Fleet, Eternal Alliance, The Outlander AKA Alliance Commander and other SWTOR content please 🥺!
Agreed, please more breakdowns of Swtor ships!

Reminds of a Battlestar from Battlestar Galactica, just so good at like everything. Acclimator 1s are one of my favorite ships in all of star wars because of how insanely versatile they are.
The workhorse of the GAR
I can't believe how far your channel has gone I have been watching from the start
I love the Acclamator. If I was a rebel commander this would be my flagship. With a full fighter wing and 640 troops I would use it to capture carracks and frigates. I would have an escort of 2 Carracks, 4 Diamond Cruisers and 8 CR90s.
an excellent video, as a huge starwars fan, i learned even more than i expected to
another great video i always wanted to about the acclimator-class one of the cool star wars ships
Been enjoying your content for a couple of years now, keep up the good work and may the force be with you :)
Interesting idea about the ballooning crew requirements! Another quality video!
Thank you for the actual breakdown! I just watched a video claiming to breakdown a ship and they just described it briefly without showing anything of the interior. I appreciate your work immensely!
This was fantastic. Thanks for making this video!
Awesome vid, the Acclamator is my favorite Republic capital ship.
Every single time I see that you have posted a vid I just feel so happy! Keep up the work!!!
Such a great ship. It seems like this ship could pretty easily be made into a very formidable fighter carrier (as was mentioned). Thanks for the video.
So glad you're doing this again.
Awesome video! I've always liked the Acclamator and this really showcase all the pros with it!
New appreciation for this ship.
Another great video!
Basically the Acclamator-class is the star wars version of our IRL Amphibious Assault Ship, which is type of warship that are specialized in ship to shore assault operation. Modern example would the Wasp-class, America-class and San-Antonio Class.
One of my all-time favorites. I loved seeing it land and deploy forces in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars video game
Great job! Awesome video!
Oh my god thank you you took my suggestion! Thank you! Can’t wait for more vehicles in depth breakdowns
Nice video like these breakdown space ship video keep up the good work dude
I love the Acclamator, such a great ship.
Awesome video bud
No wonder the Rebels/New Republic managed to get one during the Galactic Civil War and beyond. It’s an amazing ship
fantastic video mate
Another amazing video
11:30 I just want to point out that those numbers for the acclamator 2 came from the "Starships of the Galaxy" rulebook for the "Star wars RPG" game.
In that the crew size for both are the same. The difference between them are the "1" can carry more vehicle and the "2" is more heavily armed.
Years later, the stats for the "1" was updated but the "2" stayed the same. That why you see the numbers are off
This right here is probably one of if not my favorite ship in star wars
Thanks for the quality video
You sir, make the absolute best SW Lore videos on the entire platform!! Keep at it!!
Can we get a part two for the imperial star destroyer it’s been literally years
Love those videos
Respect for all the research 👏
I love the breakdown vids
Surprise to be sure but a welcome one
Thanks for the breakdown
I'm just adding in but in the republic commando game, you get a good look through the interior of a venator class frigate, and it included a detention block and you could see that they had multiple docking bays and how the bridge looked like
I actually love this ship, it should be a worthy ship for the rebellion instead of the empire!
In fact, they did use these.
This ship is kinda OP if you think about it. As fast as a tie fighter, can carry alot of troops and vehicles and has the firepower of a star destroyer
Good video I can't wait to see what else you have to show me
I’m guessing that this is a new breakdown under your new video format? I’d definitely want to see new breakdowns on the Venator, Victory, and every other Republic/Imperial star destroyer over time.
I just realized the Acclamators that show up in Episode 2 Attack of the Clones are dark grey color like the Imperial ships. The ship doesn't show up in Revenge of the Sith but years after when the Clone Wars cg show came out the Acclamator was given the same white/whitebeige and red color as the Venator.
You could say that they had no time to paint the Acclamators before they left for Geonosis.
I love these videos
Like my favorite Star wars ship that there is and also give me huge Republic commando nostalgia. Sev needs our help gosh darn it!
I thought it was cool that the New Republic had an Acclamator which they used as a starfighter carrier under the command of Hera Syndulla.
Great Job Meta and that is one awesome ship
if I were to redesign this, I would have it have top and bottom turbo laser's to better defend itself, along with point-blank quad ball laser cannons on the top and bottom of the ventral section of the ship since it doesn't have a ventral hangar bay and also have many Ion cannon's and missiles as well to disable ship's to get past them instead of destroying them
and it would also have some starfighter's for its space battles
as well as lower that bridge, and even have duel bridges like the Venator since that help's with survivability
and have its engine's covered in armor like a Cal Calamari ship is, and while we're at it, we can also add the same shield's as well
it keeps its role as a transport ship, but this help's in its survivability, and its combat potential, I would hardly use this ship in combat directly, but this is in case it's forced to and need's to make a recovery, as well as make sure the ship has a much needed upgrade
It could already carry fighters though and we even see this in the clone wars
@@dalekcaan8495 that was a special model though
but I get what you mean
still, I would just take away some of the land vehicles in lew of spacecraft
Would love a complete breakdown video about the T-6 shuttle used by the Jedi Order
Been waiting for this one😂
Excellent video.
Great job pulling together tons of different star war sources.
The only counter point I would make is the end about the "crew" needs growing so much later...
I think a lot of times the strange stats on many of the ships just comes from who ever wrote them at the time - did not have a lot of experience with other materials, or any real world naval or military experience. This is pretty common - where some people translate differencing classes of equipment (battleships are not video cards) and often make invalid assumptions (for example - star wars tech - which is over 10,000 years old - does not have huge leaps in performance every 18 months).
I think the later people just put down numbers they thought were cool. Kind of like how lucas just used parsec because it sounded neat.
anyway, thanks for the video.
Fantastic
very informative
Its interesting this ship is able to swim. I wonder if other ships, for example the ISD, could do that too.
Nice ship in republic navy
You are seriously underestimating plo koon. He once dueled Yoda to a draw, and is one of the only who can use force judgment
No.
awesome
I would love the opportunity to modify an acclamator-class ship.
Under appreciated ship
It's simple, I see gunship in thumbnail, I watch video.
kick ass video bro
Any time I see this ship I think of The Prosecutor and the mission Ghost Ship from Republic Commando! That gave me nightmares as a kid lol
This was cool ship
Nice
I like how they included the ship in the massive Battle to retake Coruscant during the yuuzhan vong war
I haven't had a chance to actually follow through on this but I had an idea for a roleplay campaign in Edge of the Empire by fantasy flight. An Acclamator is the perfect colonization vessel. For a brief period in the early empire there was an idea to seed the mid to outer rim with loyal imperial colonies.
Using Acclamators was an easy way to get rid of some of the stock. Thus you are part of an initial colony in the post clone wars era.
The Empire should've kept this ship. It's quite sad that such a good troop transport, which also is a capital ship, so it's a 2 in 1 ship, was forgotten after the CW was over
With no peer competitors, the Empire didn't really need a massive troop transport for ground invasions.
@@tbotalpha8133 they actually had competitors, in the form of the rebel alliance. They had a need to land massive amounts of troops several times, like on Hoth. Only bringing down a few troops are not the way you do it in combat. You need all your available troops in a massive ship, which can handle several smaller ships, and still be able to land. You need a big ship you can land on the ground, that's bigger that the biggest of shuttles and walker transports, and still be small enough to land on the ground. This ship is actually perfect for the empire, when you think about it. The Empire has too few big transports, and only relying on shuttles and AT-AT transports are not a reliable way ro transport in the long run. You need transports that are big enough to defend themselves and carry enormous loads of cargo and troops. The battle of Hoth and later Jakku, plus a ton of other battles/invasions proce that. The Acclamator is the only ship that csn do everything at once, and at the same time. Had the Empire kept the Acclamator, they would've had an easier time to actually fight the rebellion, and not send small ships that's blown up as fast as it enter a system. A shuttle and other small transports might be cheap, but they don't last for very long. The Empire is not the Rebellion. The Rebel Allianxe uses smaller transports, not the Empire, and the Rebel Alliance won mostly because they actually used ships like stolen or forgotten Acclamators and other transports in the same size, or other ships in a similar size, like the GR-75. The Rebels won, because they were able to bring everything they had and needed with them for a battle or invasion, and because they used the right tactic, and using transports like stolen Acclamators and other, similar transports, is a logistical tactic that makes sure you win wars. It's thanks to ships like the Acclamator and other transports that the Rebel Alliance won the entire war. I can go on about this, but i'll let you catch up
@@Chisszaru I went looking at Wookiepedia for information to form a counter-argument, and I found out that the Empire apparently DID keep using Acclamators after the Clone Wars (in the Expanded Universe). So this entire exchange is based on a misconception.
But I'm going to ignore that, because I wrote a great big argument in defence of the Imperial-I Star Destroyer, on the assumption that the Acclamator had fallen out of use, and it would be a shame to let all that writing go to waste. And besides: it's still basically true in the Original Trilogy movies, which is what we were arguing about, so I think it's fine.
So, regarding Echo Base, according to Wookiepedia:
"At its height, the base housed 7,500 combat and command personnel, 350 medical personnel and 120 droids. The hangar was large enough to simultaneously house at least thirty GR-75 medium transports, sixty Rebel starfighters, twelve snowspeeders, the Millennium Falcon and the Outrider."
7500 combat personnel and 350 medical personnel, for a total of 7850 people. That's how many ground troops the Empire would need to land on Hoth, to match the Rebels man-for-man. An Acclamator could carry 16,000 Clone Troopers (Wookiepedia). An Imperial I-class Star Destroyer could carry 9,700 Stormtroopers (Wookiepedia). Both could land troops on a planet, and in high enough numbers to outnumber the Rebels at Echo Base. But the Imperial I could also carry a full fighter wing, allowing it to provide air support and cover to its own infantry. While the Acclamator only carried armed dropships, leaving it dependent on supporting vessels like Venators for fighter coverage.
Furthermore, think about how many Rebel installations the Empire had dealt with, on the scale of Echo Base, BEFORE the battle in ESB. Not many! The Empire had mostly dealt with putting down local revolts and quashing unrest. Something which the Imperial I was much better suited for, since a single one could deliver a legion of Stormtroopers and a full TIE wing to anywhere in the galaxy. If you needed more than that, send another Imperial I! Hell, send 2 of them! They're all identical in crew and craft, so you always know what you're getting.
The Empire built its navy to deal with the security problems it was facing at that moment, and problems it foresaw in the future. It was dealing with lots of dispersed, low-intensity fighting, and the Empire expected that to remain the norm going forwards. Or even for the fighting to die down over time, as the Empire's control tightened. The Imperial I was well-suited for dispersed peacekeeping; the Acclamator wasn't. The Empire did not expect a force like the Rebel Alliance to arise, or for them to become powerful enough to face the Empire as peers. And when that started happening, the Empire did not have time to build new Acclamators. They went to war with the ships they had: lots and lots of Imperial Is.
And by the time the Empire realised they needed a ship like the Acclamator, the Second Death Star was already confetti, and the Empire had ceased to exist as a unified polity. Which made it *somewhat difficult* for any Imperial commander to get more ships made.
@@tbotalpha8133 the Acclamator was actually able to give air support. It was after all armed with cannons and anti air guns, even if it weren't many turrets it had. It could actually even do the base delta zero, or orbital bombardment, maybe not the a large scale, but still. That wouldn't be too bad against a smaller shield generator, and the one one Hoth could only be handled by a larger ship, like a Venator or even a bigger star destroyer. What i know, the Imperial I wasn't built to actually land on planets, not witout a system like they used for the Venator, which we saw in revenge of the sith on Coruscaunt. Thwy didn't actually land the Venator on Kashyyk, as it was basically hovering in the air, and they used a special built ramp to unload it. It's logistically harder to unload any of the Empire's star destroyers than the Republican star destroyers, and of all star destroyers, the Acclamator is actually the easiest to unload. You don't even need to bring and transports for the troops or vehicles inside. You don't even need to bring fighters or bombers, just ground vehicles. If you want to really be sure the Acclamator can land safeöy and protect it, drspite it being able to protect itself, just do what the Empire did in EP 5, and have a fleet, with several Acclamators, corvettes, frigates, carriers, battleships, other ships bigger than the Acclamators and thousands of fighters, bombers, interceptors, a few shuttles, other smaller transports, other big transports and a command ship. Ships aren't really meant to go somewhere by themselves, unless it's a civillian ship or belongs to a smuggler or any other criminal. The Empire did the right decision in sending an entire fleet, because a well oiled war machine with ships sends a fleet of a few hundred ships, and at a bare minimum 10 ships, depending on mission and what type of mission it is. Considering the size of Death Squadron, the fleet led by Darth Vader, it was the fleet we also see in return of the jedi, protecting the second Deathstar, which is around 30 ships, they could easily have at least one or two Acclamators. Like you said, the Empire wasn't smart enough to use the ships they actually needed, until the end of the war, until at least the battle of Kuat and the battles after that. It wasn't really until the battle of Kuat, both the planet and the space ring around Kuat that the Empire realized that they needed all the ships they could find and get. The Empire did use a lot of AT-TEs, AT-ATs and some other walkers to defend the ring around Kuat. An Imperial I might be enough, but a Acclamator is always better, because you never know how a battle will turn out to be. And the Empire did capture some rebels, which by themselves need transports for intergogation on a different ship. An Acclamator can do a bit of everything really, and it is a ship worth having in any fleet, big or small, and if it isn't for transport, it can be to take out other lightly armed ships the same size or smaller, and while the Acclamator isn't known to be a ship for fighting other ships, it still is armed with a few cannons and point defence turrets, for dighting other ships and starfighters, bombers and interceptors, plus shuttles and other smaller ships. The main useage is still troop transport and transportation in general, so if not troops, then definitly walkers other ground vehicles, pre-built fortifications, ready to be assembled on a planet, smaller ships or even cargo like ammunition and food for the troops. The Acclamator does have a ramp after all, making it easier to load and unload. While it was never meant to slag it out in ship to ship combat, like an ISD, or even be a carrier, like the Venator, it can defend itself. It's meant to be a transport, and many transports here on Earth has defences built in, unless it's a civillian transport. Like many transports here on Earth, transports works best in a convoy, if it's on land, and it can still defend itself, and in a fleet if it's in space, despite being able to defend itself. After all, you don't send a carrier on it's own, you have an entire fleet with it on missions. That's the part the Empire did right on Hoth, even if they had the wrong transport ships

Imagine being a hyperspace scout randomly jumping, and then seeing Kamino when the Clone Army was still in training? Getting there at just the right time to witness a huge mystery fleet of Aclamators (with some early Venators potentially also present) in orbit and all...and unless you had authorization to be present, or the Mandalorian mercs in charge of training were in an astonishingly good and generous mood... likely heading towards you to make sure you aint telling no one nothing ever again.
