    This complete breakdown of the Secutor-class Battlecruiser, or Secutor-class Star Destroyer, will take us from its Clone Wars roots, how it was supposed to replace the Venator, where it fit alongside the Imperial ships like the Victory, Imperial-class Star Destroyer, Super Star Destroyer and others, as well as the history of this Star Wars ship, like how it nearly took down Tarkin.

      its the one thing I really hate about SW designs massive stupid plot holes that no one would design in. Our current naval ship designs are a good example of how design works even when accounting for fleet make ups, every ship still has defense against smaller/aerial threats in some way.

      I feel like the 15 *light* turbolaser batteries ARE the point defense.
      Fitted to relatively nimble mounts, they'd be heavy enough to absolutely kill any small craft in one or two hits at pretty long ranges.
      They'd also be able to strike larger craft if needed, meaning they wouldn't be useless once the enemy fighters are mopped up.
      Combined with its pretty insane fighter complement (TIEs, despite their size, are a lot less space efficient than ARC-170s or Z-95s), I don't see it as that huge of a problem. That said, if adding a dozen or two laser cannon batteries didn't affect armor or power distribution much, I certainly would add some.

    As I understand it, the 144 starfighter complement are the nerfed numbers that they gave it when it came over to be canon back in Legends, and that Fractal intended for the ship to have space for 8 to 10 wings.... so at least 576 to 700 starfighter sized craft (TIEs, Starwings, Skiprays, and the like). Which honestly given the size of the ship and the placement of the hangers does seem perfectly plausible. Sort of like how you felt that the Gladiator could carry around 220 TIEs in your video on it.
    The Secutor could likely more comfortably handle that many than the idea of the Venator carrying its full listed complement of over 400 starfighters. As I understand it, a fully loaded Venator stuck close to planets and was more of a defensive tool cuz fully loaded they just couldn't venture far away, they didn't have the logistics to handle that. On the other hand the Secutor doing so with a full complement does seem more believable given the size of the ship compared to the Venator

    • @pyronuke4768
      @pyronuke4768 Рік тому +9

      Yeah, Fractal said he has no idea where the 144 figure came from.
      My headcanon is that when it was designed in-universe it was supposed to have the 8 to 10 wing complement, but with the end of the clone wars and the CIS mass droid swarms the Empire reduced the number to just 2 wings because they figured they wouldn't need any more than that. It's the same explanation they give for why the Executor class only have two fighter wings despite their massive size.

      A Gerald Ford class super carrier acourding to Wikipedia has 75+ aircraft. At 333m long that's 6.6 times longer for the secutor which is also stupidly wide.
      If we scale linearly based on nothing but length you get 495 fighters. Given the secutor is chunky boy with girth not just length 576 to 700 seems pretty reasonable based on real world carrier complements

    • @RavenWolffe77
      @RavenWolffe77 4 місяці тому +2

      It's also possible that "144" is only the number of TIEs *specifically*;
      TIEs, despite their small size, take up FAR more deckspace than other contemporary fighters due to needing specialized storage/boarding racks, specialized transport cranes, and other proprietary bullshit that served no other purpose than to give the inflated Imperial crew complement something to do.
      With the hangar space used more efficiently like on Venators and Acclimators, I could EASILY see a Secutor carrying 500-700 fighters.

    • @Alexzander1989

      @@RavenWolffe77
      "It's also possible that "144" is only the number of TIEs *specifically*;"
      Unlikely, with TIE racks, TIEs don't take up that much space. Honestly the Imperial class would probably carry more if it wasn't also carrying forces and equipment for ground campaigns (including a prefabricated base), on top of everything else they packed into that thing.
      Plus with the Secutor's size and dimensions, it could more easily carry and service that many ships compared to the Venator, which is half it's size and needed to stay very close to friendly bases to carry anywhere near the max complement.
      Also, Fractal is the one who designed and made this ship, so I'm more inclined to trust his numbers for the Secutor

    It’s funny, being designed during the Clone Wars makes it seem fairly stupid when the Venator is so common, but if it debuted in actual service in the Empire it could be a sign that Imperial Fleet doctrine was being planned out well before the shift -over phase from Republic doctrine, since the carrying abilities are something the Empire desperately needed and the firepower sounds more like their thinking.

    I think you’re right about the ship essentially being a testing bed for the characteristics that would define later imperial capital ships. It seems like some real world vehicle projects where it was designed with a specialist role in mind but subsequent requirements turned it into a generalist vehicle that wasn’t particularly good at fulfilling any real roles. Makes for a good in-lore explanation of why we never see this ship. It just wasn’t really worth the cost when compared to later designs like the the Victory and Imperial classes.

My guess is that the guys who wrote the stats for Wookieepedia went "oh, It's twice the size of an imperial class; it must have twice the fighters."
    My head canon explanation is that when the Secutor was being designed for the clone wars it was supposed to boast the ten wings complement, but with the end of the CIS and their droid starfighter swarms the Empire cut the numbers down to two wings because they figured that's all they needed.

    for as large as it is, why doesn't it have more point defense lasers and starfighters considering carriers are namely used for backline instead of direct combat, so point defense is a must for starfigheters and it's carrier role is lackluster to the smaller, cheaper, and more tested counterpart

    Titan-Class Star Destroyer, or whatever Galactic Imperial Battlecruiser that was captained by the most human looking Cather who was also installed as the rightful ruler of Cathar (both planet & its people) by the Galactic Empire & was a fairly devout student of Thrawn.
    Though a fanmade story of a ‘Royal Lineage’ that dates back to that MMORPG _Old Republic, The_ , this descendant of that lineage, who basically replaced a very distant cousin, still had a decent degree of honor. In the wake of the Battle of Endor, he Protected his Galactic Imperial crew, who just wanted to leave, in their retreat as the Rebels arrived. Despite his willingness to surrender to the Alliance, he still had his Cathar pride to bloody their noses & blacken their eyes, using the lessons his master, Thrawn, have taught him before serving a nice meal to showcase his surrender to the Alliance.
    However, with some of his Rebel prisoners, to whom he is willingly surrender to, his feline personality seduces a good number of female rebels & things get pornographic with this Cathar’s personal harem of seduced females& such…

    I think the Secutor was meant to also replace the Acclamator as a "do-it-all" battlecruiser. It carried almost as many ground forces as an Acclamator. It carried far more armament than either a Venator or an Acclamator. If Fractalsponge's original design specifications had been used, it would've carried far more starfighters than a Venator. I believe he originally intended a Secutor to carry 8-10 wings of starfighters, so about 576-720, vs the Venator's 420. With those specifications, the Secutor would've been a better standard ship for the Imperial Navy than the ISD. The Secutor was much more well-rounded for 33% more cost.

    I always think the Empire could have won if the rebellion didn't have plot armor and Luke. They had better ships for the most part, the Secutor is a perfect example of a ship that fits the role it was built for perfectly. Palpatine also should have never tried to make another Death Star. The focus should have been on Interdictor Star Destroyers and other practical Capital Ships. Three great designs are the Bellator, Assertor, and Allegiance that are all practical capital ships that would have been a better use of resources than the Second Death Star.

    The titles sponsor is, from my understanding, a scam; that is, the owners of the company in question have done a lot of similar scam-type companies, and there's some doubt as to if they're indeed donating money to the claimed company that plants trees.
    The underlying claim is not supported by Scottish law; ownership of land does not confer lordship - lordship can only be gotten through inheritance. Moreover, a "souvenir block" does not actually confer ownership.
    It's a bit embarrassing to see an ad for what appears to be a scam on a youtube video recommended to me.

    Nice video, but stay away from Established Titles.... Like having a Star "Named" after someone for their birthday/christmas etc.... It's a sham. No entity will ever recognize the name of your loved one as being the name of a star, and good luck trying to LARP as a "Lord or Lady". You're spending a hundred bucks or whatever on a piece of paper, give the person I share in a Stock index fund instead".
