Okay so as an amateur map designer I can say with some level of certainty that the tank parts at 13:17 are probably there as a time/resource saving measure. It’s a lot easier to just repurpose an existing model and clip it into a wall to make it look like something else than it is to model something new entirely. Also this applies to the plants with underground vases as well on Buried.
The Lantern you show on Buried. The one under the Map. It's a part of the Easter Egg for the Map. At one point you have to throw a grenade and get it to fall from the sky.

I have an interesting one for you, the other day I was messing around with infection mods on Xbox and on the mod menu there is a camo settings option, on origins you can put the normal, mob of the dead and origins pack a punch camos onto guns while playing origins. I found out that all of the staffs actually accept the mob of the dead pack a punch camos meaning that surely the developers intended for you to be able to pack a punch all of the staffs at some point during development but it got scrapped.

Awesome video man. Ik a bit about zombs dev n Just wanna clear up the connected window theory where zombies change their mind. Pretty sure each zomb spawn location is linked to 1 barrier, so a zombie will always try to go to the barrier before actually pathing to a player. You’ll see this if you noclip outside the map before the zombie has reached a barrier, they’ll just keep walking to the barrier. There is an exception, if the barrier doesnt have boards/ can’t be rebuilt then the zomb spawner will most likely have a flag on it to tell the zombie to path to player (this applies when there’s a zomb spawner inside the playable map too). All love 👊
ahh yes, but connected window locations do sort of disappear (or become rare) after BO2. To be more specific, what I'm really talking about is the master spawner that is making this decision - to either spawn a zombie that will path up the stairs or down them based on where the player is. Perhaps I should be a bit more technical in future video for those who are interested and probably know more than myself!
@@ThatWasAwesomeYT I miss when zombie barriers were connected. The way zomb spawn works in waw, bo3 (and i assume bo2) is the spawner will either target a specific window, or it will "find_flesh" which means they'll target the closest player instead of barrier as soon as they spawn. That's the extent that I understand. It might be good to touch on the more technical side in future vids but it's up to u and has to be done in a way that doesn't make the viewer feel dumb 🤙
The eyes of the witch and leroy are fx, cant see if without lighting And anytime there is a part on the map that is used for something else its usally because u have to have the model on the map somewhere to spawn it in, like the lantern on buried and probally the tank parts
3:14 "Nice Dissolve" -Barf (Spaceballs) Also, I just noticed this, but if you look as the shape of the paths on origins from above, like you show on screen at 17:40, the paths make the same symbol as the one on the templar zombies' chests.
Zombie pathing in BO2 is pre-determined and will not change paths during their spawn route, however they do have a range limit just like newer BO titles and will respawn elsewhere closer to the player
With Die Rise, I think the building is meant to have been hit with a meteor. It'd make sense to have a portion of the building missing. Or the just were time crunched. I'll belive the first one.
for #6, it could either be a vestige of a pre-existing stock skybox, or a scrapped second layer to the skybox. i'm sure you've gone outside of gm_construct and seen the two different sized skyboxes to give the player more of a parallax effect with the contrasting scales and layers, but that's just my theory!
Pretty sure that lantern under the witches house is the one that floats around during the Main Quest EE. It's probably just the area it's stored until it's triggered for the Quest.
