I kinda miss when Mob of The Dead, and the red-eyed zombies, were solely, quite directly, a purgatory, or demonic entity, or just straight-up Hell itself. I feel like that was the intent they were going for anyway, with that whole 'input 115 as a code only to have a voice say "not this time" and switch the numbers to 666' thing (this isn't a result of Element 115, this is literally Hell). It's an interesting one-off idea of "here's this thing, entirely disconnected from everything else, that's simply _mimicking_ the horrors of the zombies and the Aether to torment these characters" - further explaining the perk machines being hazy and unable to properly form. Leaving that unexplained beyond that makes it much more enticing.
Sadly i recently watched an interview, where one of the creators of Motd admitted that they didnt now that the eye colour meant anything. It was an accident XD
It fits the maps so much better. And nobody can tell me that the whole shadowman richtofen stuff wasn´t just cramed into mob. As you said the whole astetik of Mob is hell and purgatory.
The two have always been connected “Nikolai Nikolai Nikolai, why do I know that name” “The cycle” is seen as well, and there’s no way they didn’t have that thought out especially with Origins showing the start of the cycle from the Great War. I believe this was Blundell’s first map, and he had to have had a decent thought of his vision for zombies, but I could believe that he purposely made it so it COULD be disconnected from the rest of the story in case the map and his directing was not well received.
The distant monster on zetsubou is based on Zoth-Omogg from Lovecraftian lore who is a child of Cthulhu I think, so it is definitely meant to be an Apothicon
Definitely check out Mr. Rufflewaffles. He hasn’t made too much content as of late because of the mw3 stuff but he makes great story and whiteboard videos
It's understandable though there's still stuff to talk about but we've talked it to death over the past 16 years and the new storyline isn't even connected which sucks
Still wild that Universe 63 just got erased. Like “Oh, y’all lost the thing that we were literally handing off to you when it happened? Sucks to suck.” *snap*
According to someone in the comments, Jason confirmed that the eye colors don’t mean anything. That’s hard to believe when the BO1 easter egg literally has the zombies eye color change from orange to blue. This even happens again at the end of BO2 in buried for Maxis super EE. Maybe from BO3 onward it doesn’t?
He said something of the lines “sometimes it means something, sometimes it doesn’t” but I think with them differentiating explicitly between orange and yellow, and then later adding info for the red eyes in bo4, that they did try and make sense of it. During his direction, he was the one to introduce red eyes, so it was intentional.
I assume this is exactly what happened... this is probably the greatest example of how they "over-added" explanations to the story over time that kind of ruined the earlier games, in my opinion.
It's the issue that Jason Blundell just simply had a completely different idea of the Zombies universe than Jimmy Zielinski. More reason why Jason Blundell's work is so subpar
Nah nah they do its just the maps arnt in order nor is the actual timeline of zombies its kinda a loop for a but then it ended but the blue for the knights in bo3 is cause they arnt controled by anyone at that point just corupted humans theyre eyes are the same as element 115 then they change
Was it ever explicitly stated Brutus was in charge of the zombies in Mob/Blood? My understanding is he was just acting on orders of the Shadow Man, so the theory of red eyes being controlled by Dr Monty/Shadow Man makes more sense to me than Dr Monty/Shadow Man/Brutus
Wouldn't be surprised if red was the shadow man or Monty, if they are technically two sides of the same coin, ie are both are the aether storylines equivalent of the devil than red would make sense, with the code machine partially confirming this in mob (where it changes to 666). I'd even agree with the gaming revolution that the red eyes symbolise a being that controls the zombies without some sorta assisted connection to the aether but can do so at will from anywhere in the multiverse.
No, red is not “blank zombies” again, origins never retconned purple, you just probably missed it, purple is clearly the color for uncontrolled zombies, we know the shadow man controls red eyes, orange eyes can clearly be seen as regular dark Aether control like you said but we have an actual color only used for the zombies nobody could entirely control, the purple eyed ones
Compared to other zombies universe, CoD outbreak doesnt come from an infection or virus (advanced warfare not included) but from Dark Magic. Since magic is involved, I always assumed their eyes colors was related to the type of magic that was used.
The song "The One" is from the perspectives of the zombies and the lyrics literally say "I've been waiting for you to come here and kill me and set me free." So killing the zombies is you doing them a favor
During this video I had an idea, considering the colour of the eyes depends on who is in control and its possible for anyone to control zombies with the right equipment, its entirely possible within lore for there to be a moment like that in Halo 3 where we (the playable characters of the map) could temporarily become allied to the zombies/whoever is in control of the zombies to fight a common enemy. I think that idea would make for an awesome easter egg step or boss fight in a map!
So since when did the red eyes change from purgatory. Cause all throughout zombies it’s always been said that red eyes symbolize a state a purgatory which makes sense for all the maps that they are seen in
The zombies' eyes will change color depending on who the Demonic Announcer is. Their eyes are yellow under Samantha Maxis, Ludvig Maxis, and the Forsaken, blue under Richtofen, red under the Warden and Kortifex, and white under the Avogadro. your welcome
One minute 36 seconds in. With each eye color the voice for power up drops changes as well. And I can't help but remember origins voice was definitely ricktophen. What if with each person in control it is also their voice that plays during powerups. Maybe I'm late. Idk. Lol. Just a thought
4:10 I always thought he said "I should be blue" not "Their EYES should be blue" Cant believe I was hearing that wrong for so many years... now it makes sense
In BO2 the easter eggs have two colors, orange and blue. When you beat the easter egg for Tranzit and Die Rise the tower is either blue if you modify the device to Richthofen’s requirements or orange if you modify the device how Maxis wants. What I think is that it’s not specifically who is controlling the zombies, but the modification to the device that changes the eye color depending on the different way each person controls the zombies. An example similar is how Wolverine from marvel can regenerate himself as his power however even though Deadpool can regenerate himself his method is way different by creating more dead cells in his body instead of living ones. (off topic ik) To sum it up I think it’s the person’s methods that help them control the zombies which affects the eye color rather than the person controlling the zombies themselves.
I mean if they all combined together, the only way there are either keepers or apothocons are left is if there was an unbalanced amount of them, like if there were 40 apothocons and 39 keepers, a apothocon would be there still. I think there are still a couple in the dark Aether because zykov either found the corpse of Kortifex or a apothocon, and if there is a corpse maybe there is a living one
This wasn’t known knowledge in the zombies community that the eyes were based on who was in control? I mean the Easter eggs very obviously hinted it because the eyes always matched with who we interacted with on the map..
I know this is an old video but after playing bo6 zombies I noticed that the Sam trials as in Samantha Maxis on Terminus and Liberty falls spawn in purple eyed zombies
most of the easter egg steps spawn them too In BO6 the purple(ish) eyes represent zombies that don't count toward the round total, basically, they're there so that if something needs zombies you can do it without ending the round (and they give basically no points to compensate)
So, if memory serves me, if you shoot a zombie with the wave gun on moon, their eyes turn red as they explode. Could this be by overflowing them with dark aether, shadowman power, etc. Or just aesthetic?
Matt If we're talking about Conspiracy Theories then Nikolai "could" be the announcer for Cold War. We know 100% that he was alive after the events of Tag Der Untoten as we don't see his death. In that case the "END" in BO4 wasn't the "true ending" we saw. I guess we were fooled by treyarch again.
iirc the Cold War announcer was confirmed to be the forsaken which was a Russian soldier trapped in the dark aether in the new timeline. I haven’t done the CW Easter eggs in about a year so correct me if I’m wrong :)

Templar zombies on bo3 origins have blue eyes. They do glow yellow however when you kill them you can see that they are blue on the texture. It's just a dev oversight
I’ve always found the story surrounding zombies to be so much more interesting than the campaigns stories. Don’t get me wrong, the campaigns are generally okay, but very standard military stories. Zombies with the Dark Aether and everything is so much more interesting to me, even if I’m not the biggest fan of running around shooting zombies for hours.
after the end of the og crews story i stopped following zombies story, but i recently got back intop it after the lexify drama and omfg the nostalgia i got from hearing nothing but dead silence, then audio tapes playing was a blast to the p[adt
In origins it makes sense the eyes are blue when the zombies are getting discovered, because at the time they were discovered samantha wasnt there yet to take control of them and years later the eyes changed because she took control 😊😊😊
What if rictofen isnt just trying to save his son, but what if hes trying to hring back primis crew? What avout zombie rictofen, could he be playing a part in the dark arther story?
I mean, Bo4 did restart the entire multiverse. Which lead to this new dark aether timeline, which is a combination of the MW and BO and Zombies timelines.
they purple eye theory is quite interesting for the future of zombies but when u look at the black ops 6 zombies trailer Richtofen disappears possibly into the dark aether so maybe its sam controlling them from the dark aether
The disciples can’t take Lifeforce from zombies they can only give it. That’s why they can only power them. The only way they can regain health is by Stealing it from players
After watching this I may have a theory that what if Richthofen was in control all along and had other people helping him like the shadow man? We know that he had something to do with Samatha and her father’s disappearance. Maybe that was his way of gaining control.
They are the same person but split into two, each side of one coin. One became the “devil” and the other “god” from what I understand. When we banished them into the dark Aether after Black ops 4 we assumed they were reunited but that’s gone nowhere so guess it doesn’t matter lmao
@NewBetaMarioSeries No, your point is wrong. There is no cloning they are literally one person split into two. They are not exact copies of each other. They are halves
@@NewBetaMarioSeriesI guess you can look at it that way, but a clone means a copy of the real thing, when he was actually half of the whole, he was Dr Monty, Dr Monty was the shadow man, same person , not a clone, not a twin, hakf of a whole, one living being with all knowledge and emotions split in hakf and using those abilities differently.
@@NewBetaMarioSeriesi dont think so, the one being just got split into dr monty and the shadowman, so by your logic you can say that the shadow man and monty are a clone of the one being
Yeah and may I say I just remembered having a realization when watching some lore video that had me realize that sam wasn't in control of the zombies on moon or something but they had the same eye color of zombies that she was confirmed to control.. now I'ma watch the video 😂
i think the eye colors have to do with the level of darkness in ones soul that is in control like blue is pure yellow is not good nor bad and orange bad but not pure evil like red
I always thought that the zombies in waw had more of an orangish tinge rather than just yellow, one of the images for verruckt actually shows a set of zombies and their eyes are more orange. I would also argue that with the gorod krovis blue eyed zombies, the Valkyrie drones actually reanimate them so they are electrically charged but reanimated from the drones themselves (could argue the drones control them basically)
I'm confused, he must have done more to that 115. Because I could have sworn that if given to a person alive, it just feels their rooms. Of course it would be connected to the hive mind somehow and think it's schizophrenia, but.... Shit Treyarch, I always knew you wanted to do more with zombies.
Red eyes have been confirmed to be just a random choice on game design by the director back in BO2, interview with Kevin Drew of Treyarch where he explained it.
Honestly it doesn't even make sense that richtofen controls the blue eyed zombies because it would mean that while he's trying to convince stuhlinger and victis to do what he says he's also simultaneously trying to kill them, which makes no sense if he needs them to do what he wants xd
Hard to say if this correct as the story changes when they feel like it, like originally the players were creating the story from waw to around bo3 then they decided to finally take lead on the story. We went from these sci fi rocks basically being super uranium that could revive the dead to reality is a broken mirror cuz alien squids
I looked it up and the correct term would be paraquel. He made it really confusing for people to understand if he didn’t clear it up about it taking place during the events of Moon.
Ever played little nightmares 2? The game's story is a backstory to the main villain that chases you down in the main story. Think of a cycle of you trapped in a desert forever and a supposedly evil version of you is trying to kill you to stop the cycle. You manage to live and end up playing as that evil version but there are some events in between as it's own little game. The first part and last part would be a paraquel because it's happening at the same moment but with new context.
Let me know what you think of my explanations. The community has definitely been wrong about the orange, yellow, and red eyes but do you think my explanation is correct or do you have any further thoughts?

How? I remember the very first lore being added to zombies with Shi No Numa, and subsequently Der Riese. Did you not listen to radios or anything?
In origins it makes sense the eyes are blue when the zombies are getting discovered, because at the time they were discovered samantha wasnt there yet to take control of them and years later the eyes changed because she took control 😊😊😊
What if rictofen isnt just trying to save his son, but what if hes trying to hring back primis crew? What avout zombie rictofen, could he be playing a part in the dark arther story?
LMFAO if you think those noises are zombies asking for help then cograts i guess
I wish they’d just give us a zombies game with all the old maps so we can play through the whole story and just enjoy the old maps again
What about the green eyed Mangler in Gorod?
Probably doesn’t mean anything
was only like that because it was turned and on the players side
I believe zombies splits universes and changes outcomes and storylines (this includes Campaign stories)
They had a amazing zombie story back in the day. Now its all over the place
I would be surprised if Shadow Man takes control of the zombies' red eyes and makes scenes
Tdt is NOT a pocket dimension where did you get this information?
The red eyes are predominantly on maps where one or more factions are trying to kill you for some reason or another
The disciples can’t take Lifeforce from zombies they can only give it.
So the Shadowman is a clone of Dr. Monty, or did I misinterpret that?
They are the same person but split into two, each side of one coin. One became the “devil” and the other “god” from what I understand. When we banished them into the dark Aether after Black ops 4 we assumed they were reunited but that’s gone nowhere so guess it doesn’t matter lmao
@@jman72898 Then my point still stands, and the Shadowman is still technically a Dr. Monty clone...
I just thought it was how much harder they was to fight cuz I'd notice them change every 10 rounds
(Me not following the story since bo3) What the kentucky fried fuck happened?
i think the eye colors have to do with the level of darkness in ones soul that is in control like blue is pure yellow is not good nor bad and orange bad but not pure evil like red
I dont understand why they didn’t just make purple eyes instead of orange
The bigger question is what did Brutus mean when he said I will be reborn and how did he get his new armor with the dark aether on it
I always thought that the zombies in waw had more of an orangish tinge rather than just yellow, one of the images for verruckt actually shows a set of zombies and their eyes are more orange.
I would also argue that with the gorod krovis blue eyed zombies, the Valkyrie drones actually reanimate them so they are electrically charged but reanimated from the drones themselves (could argue the drones control them basically)
Orange means normal zombie, red means they have blood plague and green means they're being targeted by the Haven Device.
Is it just me or did he say black ops gulf war at 24:45 ?
Like, do you know something we don't sir? 🤨
Ah I see I just searched it up lol
Eye color meant something when Zielisnky was in charge, with Blundell he uses it as he wishes.
Real
I'm confused, he must have done more to that 115. Because I could have sworn that if given to a person alive, it just feels their rooms. Of course it would be connected to the hive mind somehow and think it's schizophrenia, but.... Shit Treyarch, I always knew you wanted to do more with zombies.
Dr Monty is the same actor who played Dr loomis in Rob Zombie’s Halloween
My unobservant ass didn’t notice more than two colors
The devs also stated that after a while the colors don’t mean literally anything
i actually found out my self that blood of the dead happened right before revelations
Should explain on why they changed element 115 to blue when it was always red
it would be a cool idea if they made eddie the one in control cuz he never got his turn in origins
Red eyes have been confirmed to be just a random choice on game design by the director back in BO2, interview with Kevin Drew of Treyarch where he explained it.
There is after the fact
What year is the victus story set in
Damn yeah, Samantha’s eyes are Purple after leaving the Dark Aether in Firebase Z so maybe she will become the Demonic Announcer again for Black Ops 6
Now we got purple from spawned zombies for the BO6 trials
I thought the yellow/orange eyes were inspired by real world events just like Shino portrayed.
I have always wondered this but never bothered to ask or figure out if there even was a reason.
Honestly it doesn't even make sense that richtofen controls the blue eyed zombies because it would mean that while he's trying to convince stuhlinger and victis to do what he says he's also simultaneously trying to kill them, which makes no sense if he needs them to do what he wants xd
Its to keep them moving and that can also make them wanna use richtofen as their guide to get through the zombies n survive
Hard to say if this correct as the story changes when they feel like it, like originally the players were creating the story from waw to around bo3 then they decided to finally take lead on the story.
We went from these sci fi rocks basically being super uranium that could revive the dead to reality is a broken mirror cuz alien squids
this whole time I thought the zombie's eyes were yellow in bo3 and cold war. Not including Gorod Krovi and Revelations.
I just need Jason to make a 12 hour video on zombies
"its both a prequel and a sequel since theyre both happening simultaneously" dude, WHAT?!?!?
I looked it up and the correct term would be paraquel. He made it really confusing for people to understand if he didn’t clear it up about it taking place during the events of Moon.
Ever played little nightmares 2? The game's story is a backstory to the main villain that chases you down in the main story. Think of a cycle of you trapped in a desert forever and a supposedly evil version of you is trying to kill you to stop the cycle. You manage to live and end up playing as that evil version but there are some events in between as it's own little game. The first part and last part would be a paraquel because it's happening at the same moment but with new context.
I'm kinda confused with the story but the eye colors are still interesting.
PLEASE NOTE : The eyes in nuketown change from yellow to blue at a higher round.
Theres also those green blue eyes from nightmares on bo3
True but I'm pretty sure Nightmares isn't part of the zombies story, similar to Dead Ops Arcade meaning nothing.
